Tasso is a great place for lunch. The pork is done perfectly and the sandwiches are a delicious mix of flavors and textures. All ordering is done at the counter and the menu is small, which isn't a bad thing because each thing is done so well. I love that they have free popcorn and lemonade. The last time I visited it was curry popcorn and that in itself was almost my meal! The lemonade is very good but a bit sweet for my taste. I'm not crazy about the layout having separated dining areas because it feels like once you have your food they forget about you. I get that it is a deli style experience but everything else they do is so good, I'd like someone to walk by and see how things are going or if I need anything else. Ask them how the place came to be, it's a cool story. This is a place I'll eat often when I'm downtown, I hope soon they'll open a West Boise location. read more

These guys are truly sandwich connoisseurs. Pure magic of uniquely delicious ingredients sandwiched between two perfect halves of a crusty roll of bread. Where have you been all my life Tasso? I appreciate their simple menu comprised of 8 sandwich options. Trust me, any more options would make it nearly impossible to decide what delicious concoction you want to order. After going back and forth between the Curry-buta and the Turkey, I finally made a full fledged commitment to the Turkey. Not just any turkey- sous vide turkey. Yes that's right folks- this isn't your usual deli slice of ham or turkey kinda joint. Every little detail and ingredient is well thought out and nurtured to bring out the best flavor. I was surprised by how much I liked the pickled fennel and carrots, but with the cilantro it made it incredibly flavorful and refreshing. I also really loved how easy the bread was to bite through- there's nothing I hate more than when you have to tug and pull at chewy bread just to get a bite and in the process destroy your sandwich and mess up your pretty little face. Well done Tasso. At first bite, I had hit sandwich euphoria. I don't even think I'm capable of going back to work. The sandwiches are super hearty and large enough to split if you wanted to give up half of your heavenly sandwich which would be painstakingly painful to part ways with. I should also give credit to the potato salad. They did Idaho justice, and the portion was very generous for $4. Very creamy and loved the subtle bite from the mustard and horseradish. We stopped by for some food to take out, and shared both the curry-buta and turkey sandwiches. All ingredients were perfectly prepared and the sandwiches were skillfully assembled to balance all of the flavors beautifully. I had read a lot about Tasos in a couple reviews; so I really wanted to try out the hot new sandwich eatery in the Bodo district. I was little surprised walked in at 1:15 the place was deserted. I loved the eclectic artwork that adorns the walls. The menu itself small which helps if you are new (all their sandwiches are $11). I went with the beef dip; your sandwich included popcorn with their unique salt and your choice of lemonade or water. The sandwich was served on a French baguette (perfect bread for the sandwich held up well with the aujus) thinly juicy sliced beef with a side of a delicious aujus that perfectly complemented the sandwich. The sandwich was very delicious!! Outside of bluebird best sandwich I've had in downtown. My grip is this; I know it's the trend in boise upscale casual dining destinations. $10 for two tacos etc..I don't know how sustainable that is quite honestly I guess call me cheap lol it just seems a little pricey to me to have a sandwich for $11 I'd much prefer a sandwich in the $8 price point I'd be more likely to frequent not saying I won't be back just at $11 a sandwich may prevent more frequent visits. Oh the popcorn as a side I have to admit is a little odd; a a fresh made potato salad, side salad, or chips would be a better option I think. My second time here. First of all, free popcorn and they change the flavors almost daily and you can get a glass of lemonade which is awesome. They also have good service and very polite employees. The first time I was there, I tried the pastrami dip with bone au jus and it was good, but very small for the price. For $12 (rounded up after tax), I'm hoping for at least 6oz of meat or else the sandwich better be immaculate. So I attributed it to them being new and gave it a second run. I tried the country devil sandwich as what was recommended thinking a different sandwich would validate the $12 dollar 6inch. Nope, it was a bit larger, still tasty but still not worth the money in my book. I don't think I will be back unless they pack on more protein, or drop the price below $10. For that price, the meat should equal the bread or over flow it. Many of their competitors are below $10 and you get an entire side and drink with it. read more

I came in here for lunch today, and was not expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. From the outside, it looks like just another eye-roll worthy ~hipster~ joint, but the food really delivers! This may be my new favorite lunch spot in Boise. As far as sandwiches go, the menu is pretty limited with only maybe 4 or 5 sandwiches to choose from. I ordered the turkey sandwich-- it was served on a wonderfully fresh and crusty baguette, and tasted similar to a Banh Mi sandwich. They didn't skimp on any fillings, they didn't overdo it on the sauce-usage, and I was overall very satisfied with the size of the sandwich for the price I paid ($11, includes popcorn & a pickle). There is self-serve lemonade and water, and unlimited popcorn! The popcorn had a delicious seasoning that tasted like a sweet curry powder. The service was fast & the employees at the counter were laid back, friendly, and informative without being pushy. I'm so glad a new lunch spot is in BoDo and I hope they expand their menu as they get more popular. I can't wait to go back! read more

Tried the Roasted Pork Sandwich with a side of Potato Salad. Both were really flavorful and enough to split between two people. The Roasted Porks was so tender and melted in your mouth. The Potato Salad was more in the Dijon side which gave it a great kick. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu. read more

What a fun place to grab lunch. My husband and I were doing chores downtown when we became hungry. We decided to stop in to Tasso. I had the Turkey Sandwich and my husband had the Chicken Salad Sandwich. Both were delicious and we were not disappointed. The bread was one of my favorite parts of the sandwich, also on the turkey sandwich is this great kimchi. It is a sandwich that makes me feel full, but not bloated or stuffed. They also have great prices for beer and offer free popcorn that is a unique and great flavor. We will be coming to Tasso again in the future. read more

I've eaten here before and it was delicious. So this review does not reflect the food, just a poor experience that I just had. The egg "salad" is a half pieces of soft boiled eggs on the sandwich. I'm sure it's delicious, but I cannot eat runny eggs at all due to being pregnant. I asked the gentlemen who waited on us a few questions about the sandwich and he NEVER mentioned the way the eggs were cooked/served. I ended up wasting $9 on this sandwich I couldn't eat. When I called the shop to let them know, Jake answered the phone, and he simply said "oh, well that's how all of our eggs are cooked". I mentioned to him this is not on any signage anywhere in the shop, nor did he mention it when I ordered. And all he could say was "yea, sorry". Just some feedback for the owners regarding their lack of communication about ingredients. I understand their take on a traditional sandwich, but that requires communication to your patrons so they know what they are getting into. Especially if they A) cannot eat runny eggs (like myself) or B) do not like runny eggs, before they fork over their money to pay for something they cannot have or will not like. Really bummed by our visit to this spot, as we read stellar reviews and were excited to try everything. The flavors of these sando's are awesome...but if you're a gluten free person just skip it. They use those god awful buns from Gluten Free Galaxy and it was so bad I took my fillings off the bun and ate it without. The bread is too dense, thick, and dry to make eating a burger enjoyable. If the owners read this - please consider switching to Franz buns. This is not that friendly hang out kind of place you're looking for. The shop is cute but feels sterile, almost like they don't want you to stay. Instead they give you a paper bag in hopes to send you on your way rather than hang out and order a dessert. And they give you a plastic water bottle or can of soda and a bag of Lays potato chips. :/ I felt like a school kid. I'd prefer fountain drinks and in house kettle chips. Service at the counter was phenomenal today! The staffer was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. My wife had the Pink Lady, which is a vegan option that I had a bite of and it was really good. I had the Kimchi Club and Tomatillo Stew. Both were really really good and you can tell that they put a lot of thought and effort behind their food. We were pleased all the way around with service, food, atmosphere, and beer selection on draft.
