Was hoping to get a seat at the bar but showing up 15 minutes after happy hour on the night of the championship college football game meant the bar was full so ended up at a table. Caci is a beautiful building that is very clean and has an open feel to it. They have indoor, outdoor and bar seating. The parking lot looks busy when you come in but we were easily able to find a spot. I got the ube mile mocktail, a margarita pizza and tiramisu. I have 0 complaints about the food, it was phenomenal. The drink wasn't too sweet and also wasn't too ginger beer-y, made perfectly. The pizza was also cooked perfectly with a crispy crust and the perfect amount of toppings and sauce. The tiramisu had an ice cream like consistency that was excellent. I thought that the service was a little poor as there was a lack of attentiveness. I had the best experience today at Caci's. What a beautiful venue. It's very vibrant and bright inside. They have a huge garage door opening so it was cool and fresh from the breeze. It is a smaller venue but with the side of the restaurant being open, it created a feeling of openness which was nice! I was greeted and sat right away. Our server was fantastic. My lunch date was running late but she did a great job checking up on me and making sure I was good. After my sister arrived, drinks and food was ordered. Today we ordered the calamari, arancini and the shrimp and halibut bucatini pasta. For drinks I grabbed a Shirley temple. I did finally notice that they had mocktails at the back of their cocktail menu so I'll have to grab one next time. My sister grabbed the strawberry smash cocktail. I had a sip of the cocktail and it was delicious. You can taste the strawberry and the alcohol. The alcohol wasn't overwhelming, it was balanced. We had everything come out at the same time and boy it all looked amazing! Everything was beautifully plated. The calamari was fried perfectly! The exterior had a great crunch, perfectly seasoned and the inside was tender. It came with two dipping sauce and both were delightful. You got 3 huge balls of the Arancini which was fried risotto with mozzarella in the middle. They were embedded in their Nonna sauce. Talk about chef's kiss! They were so good! You can eat those bad boys as a meal, they are massive and a must have! The shrimp that came with the bucatini were nice and plump. The halibut was delicious as well. The pasta was cooked just right and the sauce that was paired with it had just the right amount of heat to get your mouth to tingle. Every bite was absolutely delicious. The venue is quite casual but it's perfect for a date night, lunch meeting or a simple drink at the patio bar. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying other items on their menu. My husband and I shared the Harvest Pear and Butternut Salad and the Sicilian Harvest Pizza (sensing a theme?), which were both wonderful!

The short rib bolognese was so delicious. The noodles were nice and tender while still offering a chew. The meat was tender and very flavorful. For the price, I wish there was a bigger portion. I don't eat very much but I wasn't full after finishing my meal. We did order a blueberry and lemon cheesecake for dessert. It was very refreshing and decadent at the same time. I'm not the biggest fan of cheesecake but it was delicious! The service was great and they were really attentive. We'll be back but only for special occasions. read more

We chose CaCi for Mother's Day because we've had good food in the past, however, I believe we have the youngest server, very childlike! We ask about the grilled octopus.. she didn't seem capable to get us answers!! so we went ahead and ordered the grilled octopus and It was like rubber and definitely not grilled.!! all of the oil and spices were poured on the side of the dish with the rocket, not sure it wasn't microwaved. Very rubbery!! we asked for salt, it was not brought, until the end of the meal. When we ask about a second iced tea... so much time went by, we stopped her and asked her if she could bring it and she said" well it's not me. It's the bar I'm waiting on the bar." Which of course... she didn't need to say! Then when my short rib Bolognese came, instead of having the meat portion on it, it had about 2 tablespoons of fat gristle. And the noodles were all clumped up and hard. Unbelievable disgusting meal! It looked like leftover's from another table! I asked her is this really the usual Portion? She started talking very loudly and say the same thing over and over.. i decline, No! Everyone was already enjoying their meal. I was not going to start over with this nitwit! Total fail on celebrating Mother's Day with their food! I would not waste my time here! The food has gone downhill since December when the last chef left! It's ridiculous how we were treated!! I'm more of a regular customer than you realize but not now! We have experienced huge turnover in staff and it seems like they enjoy not giving good service! My wife and I just moved to Star from Southern CA. We have friends from CA that moved to Caldwell three years ago and we made plans to meet them here. Located off State 44 just past the 55/Eagle, it is located in a small shopping center on Riverside Dr. The ambiance is casual, and it's not as big as I thought it was. They do have a bar and some outdoor seating. Since it was a warm day, we chose inside. The menu includes appetizers, salads, pastas, pizzas, and more expensive entrees like steak, seafood, and duck. My wife had the Chicken Apple salad and I had the Sausage Pesto pizza. Our friends had a pasta dish, a salad, and the sausage pizza as well. My wife enjoyed her salad. My pizza was good, with sausage, mushrooms, and their homemade pesto. The crust reminded me of my trip to Italy. It was intermittently charred, which might turn some people off, but I like it. Our friends come here fairly regularly and enjoyed their food as well. The negative to our experience was the service. While our young female server was nice, it took her forever to get to our table to take our order, we actually had to flag her down, and even then she put us off for a few more minutes. After our food came, by a runner and not by her, she never checked back with us. Our friends call this service phenomenon "Mountain Time", and suggest that it is typical of Idaho, a calmer, more laidback attitude. However, we have been to many other restaurants on our trips here and since moving, and good and prompt service has been our experience. We will most certainly be back, as the food is good, but I hope that the next time we come the service will be a little better. read more

Let me first say that I am a big fan of this restaurant and it's usually my "go to" suggestion for lunch with friends. I love the great service, (usually), and great food, (usually). I was meeting a friend there for lunch mid week and it seemed to be a quiet afternoon for them - a small group and a couple were seated on the patio and so I chose to sit out there also. There seemed to be 3 servers and almost immediately upon sitting a server came up and greeted me and introduced herself as my server. I told her that I was waiting for a friend. She left some water and took my drink order. I was early and expected a little wait time. My friend arrived about 5 minutes later. Another server came to our table with my drink and asked if we were ready to order. My friend ordered the strawberry lemonade and we both ordered the wagyu steak sandwich from the specials menu. I was excited for it, because I'd had their wagyu salad before and LOVED IT!! My friend ordered the same. It came with soup or salad and we both ordered salads. Our meals arrived and at first glance there seemed to be very little protein inside of the roll. My friend took a bite, chewed for a moment and then deposited a piece of gristle on her plate. My first bite was fine, but after that, we both had more inedible bites. Truthfully, I've never had wagyu that wasn't flavorful and delicious and was quite surprised by the texture of the steak in my sandwich. Our server came and asked if we needed anything and my friends asked for some more ice for her lemonade - it never came. Our server came by again a bit later to ask if we needed anything else, or if we would like the check. We asked for the check. She didn't comment on our unfinished plates, nor did she remember that she'd never brought the ice. We paid and left. I will go back, because maybe it was just an off day, but I was disappointed and rather embarrassed by my emphatic recommendation. read more

This place is alright. A calm, casual eatery with nice options and friendly service. This was my first visit here, and I had higher expectations than were met. However, I only tried one dish and it would be unfair to knock them down more stars based on just that. But at least next time, I'll get something else. I chose the Flat Iron Wagyu (rare, $26.00) which came with roasted rosemary potatoes and asparagus laying on top of a red pepper aioli. The veggies were fantastic. The potatoes were so tender and flavorful, as was the juicy, fresh asparagus. The wagyu, however, was lacking, which is disappointing for how high quality the meat is. I found it way more rare than I requested, and it just wasn't very good. There was plenty, however I couldn't get myself to finish it all. This definitely isn't their specialty, but I'm sure there are other very tasty items of their menu which I will certainly be back to try. read more

Each time has been progressively worse. So that'll be our last. They brought our meals out one by one. The salad being the last . Really? The 2nd one was burnt and had to be remade. And I hit the margherita pizza and they served it with spinach instead of basil. If you can't afford the basil then take it off the menu. It's very insulting when they think they can pass something off and they think you're stupid. The bartender paid no attention to us. She could have gotten 3 more drink orders but didn't care to check on us. As I left I brought these concerns up with the manager and his response was "ok." Spaghetti and meatballs should be pretty safe - the meatballs were around the size of a quarter and dry, the noodles were clomped together and the sauce had zero flavor. My wife said the sauce could have been Ragu's. We were charged a dollar extra for olives in a martini and the $7 IPA was a watery beer worthy of $5 or less. Service was ok and the ambiance was brought down by flies and a sticky table. We used to enjoy this restaurant from time to time but the portions shrank and the flavor is sub par while the prices have gone up. I provided the waitress with a full tip and my feedback on the spaghetti and meatballs - the "manager" didn't bother to visit us and we will never pay again to eat here. read more
