Boise Bistro Market, Idaho's Ham Company has been owned and operated by the Stark family since 1993. Originally, they owned a Heavenly Ham franchise. In 2002, Honey Baked Ham Company bought Heavenly Ham. Soon after, the Stark family decided to go independent. Boise Bistro Market's hams are Idaho produced. Boise Bistro Market is best known for their catering, which includes everything from family meals to box lunches, but they also have a retail store where you can go to buy breakfast and lunch. While visiting, be sure to check out all of the great kitchen gifts, gadgets, and food items for sale. They plan to bring in a coffee vendor in the near future. I have been visiting this business since it was a Heavenly Ham. I first learned about it when my employer brought in box lunches for us, while we were working on a special project. They were delicious! Since then, I have visited several times over the years, and I have always had a good experience. Unfortunately, I don't get to visit as often as I would like because I tend to work through lunch and they close at 4 PM. Prompted by my recent visit to HBHC, I wanted to visit and see if it was a good as I remembered. It was! On 3/3/23, I visited the store. I ordered The Bistro Ham ($9) - Our Idaho Ham, Havarti Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Mayo, Our Famous 25-Year Recipe Sweet Honey Mustard. On A Flakey Square Croissant. They get their square-shaped croissant bread dough made by Gaston's, which they finish baking in-store. I also go an 8 oz. cup of 5-Bean soup ($4.99), and a small side of Potato Salad ($1.95). I also got a 1/2 lb. of Ham Salad to go. I enjoyed the soup and potato salad, but the Ham was my favorite! Both the Ham sandwich and the Ham Salad were excellent! The croissant was not quite as flaky as when purchasing croissants directly from Gaston's, but it may have been somewhat compressed by being enclosed in plastic wrap. Even so, I appreciated that it was a locally made, from scratch product. After visiting their website, I learned that I can buy their slices of ham by the pound. Next time I go, I plan on getting 1 lb. of ham. I am also going to make a point of trying more of their sandwiches. I've heard great things about their breakfast wraps too, but they're not currently available. The ambience is casual. There are some nice tables available if you choose to do in-store dining. Fantastic spot to stop for a sandwich! I came for breakfast around 0830 and it was empty. I ordered the "it's ham time" breakfast sandwich which was on a very unique croissant! The honey mustard on the sandwich was also very tasty! This sandwich shop shares a sitting area with the coffee shop next door, but the worker nicely delivered my sandwich to me at my table :) if I have more business trips in Boise, I'll definitely be stopping by! read more

On November 19, 2023 Drove from Nampa to Boise to pick up my order and they had no order for me, couldn't find my name anywhere in their system. This is only a review of my lunch here. We've purchase ham for holidays and they are great. My wife and I decided to try them for lunch. I saw French Dip on the menu which is one of my favorites. Since I've had skimpy French Dips before, I asked the very nice girl behind the counter how much meat was on the sandwich. Her reply was, "There's so much meat, we've had trouble getting them closed". SOLD!!! What I got was a very small sandwich with hardly any meat. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was less than an ounce of meat. One layer didn't even cover all of the bread. Now I never do this, but I took it back because i paid almost $9 for a piece of bread. A different lady was at the counter. When I showed it to her she said, "that's a normal serving". I wish I'd have taken a picture. To her credit, she reluctantly took the sandwich back and put more meat on it. It was still one of the skimpiest French Dips I've ever had, but I just ate it anyway. My wife had a ham sandwich. Hers was larger and meatier than mine. When I asked her how it was, she said, "eh, just ok". I definitely recommend their ham at holiday time, but don't bother with their sandwiches. What a find. Since they changed the name to Boise Bistro Market, we didn't know what to expect. What we found was delicious coffee, polite service, and an extraordinary breakfast burrito. The Buckin' Bacon Burrito was outstanding. The atmosphere is quiet, and there is a nice selection of kitchen items, Idaho products, growler jugs, etc. to peruse. We'll definitely be back for the food, the coffee, and a great place to sit (and not smell like burnt coffee the rest of the day... ahem). As mentioned in a couple of other reviews, once their non-compete is finished this spring, they will be able to offer the ham and turkey that they did while part of a franchise. Don't wait for that, go in and enjoy a great place to sit and talk. Often, the words, "support your local business", imply that you should do it despite the quality. Not in this case. I love this little place! It's an easy drive from my job so that's super convenient and their service is pretty quick too! I love to support family owned businesses and this is one of them! They all work together and always have very friendly and knowledgeable staff on hand. Their menu is quite diverse and the ingredients always very fresh! The last time I visited I ordered the Thai Chicken Wrap and as always it was jam packed with nice, crisp veggies and very fresh chicken and the thai sauce is a nice touch of acidity and heat that complements the wrap just perfectly. I also really love many of their soups. My favorite being the butternut squash with Italian sausage. It's just the write balance of flavors, with a smooth consistency and just the right amount of sausage. They also have a great selection of gift and culinary items in this large, open, retail space and in the past year or so, they also introduced Treasure City Coffee Roasters as their tenants, so now you can get yummy coffee drinks too! Don't forget that they also serve up breakfast sandwiches, which I have yet to try, so that's next up! The ONLY thing that I would say is the decor is a tad bit outdated, and could use a little refreshing but the place is immaculately clean! The ham and Tri tip roast were unquestionably delicious and savored by my fam, but the experience was uncomfortable. Last minute holiday dinners are always a tough dish to palate, and I am used to chain establishments such as Boston market and honey baked where the order can be prepared and heated ready to serve. Perhaps I miscommunicated my expectation that this would be the case while on the phone with them yesterday morning. I ordered for a late afternoon pickup figuring I could serve the meal as soon as I returned home.Unfortunately, I arrived to find the ham and tri tip roast I ordered were not only unheated, but in the case of the roast partially frozen. The person who helped me explained this was normal and reheating would be a simple matter, the work of about 30 minutes at 300' oven which I verfied with the detailed written heating instructions. (Nice) I arrived home and immediately set to the task of reheating the items following the instructions to the letter. Sadly the time allotted was not sufficient and the meat was not 140' internal even 45+min later. I had to serve after a full hour when the thermometer showed the correct temp. However the meat was chilly in places and I was embarrassed in front of my guests. :( My oven is an efficient and well serviced machine utilizing both convection and regular bake settings so I doubt this was the issue. I would definitely consider using Boise bistro again as the taste was awesome. I would simply suggest more friendly help and more specifics during phone order placement. I had high hopes for this place, but when I went it was not the best experience. I want them to do well because they're local, and I'm all about supporting local over chain. When I came in to order a lunch box, I had ordered the Thai Chicken Wrap with potato salad. I had been craving potato salad so I was super excited. The potato salad was bad, as in it was days old and shouldn't have been served to anyone. The wrap wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad either. I had bought multiple cookies and rice crispy treats and they were old and hard. I was super let down because I was excited to have them (I have quite the sweet tooth). I know all places have their good and bad days so I don't want to mark them as a place I won't go. I'm willing to try them again and hopefully I'll have an updated review. My hope is that they see this and they'll make some changes because I can not be the only one who had this happen to them. such a cute little place, I am so glad we stopped in to check it out. we ere going to order a honey baked ham online since they don't have a store here but decided to check this place out instead because they sell their own versions of it. the inside is a coffee shop with a drive thru on one side and a deli on the other side with a gift shop sort of in both places. they have lots of dried soups, jams and jellies, gifts, wine, cooking utensils- something for everyone! it's super cute in there, I love it! we decided to try the ham before we ordered one and it was sooo good! I got the bistro ham sandwich on a croissant and it was absolutely delicious. my mom got the ham salad which I had never heard of but it was really yummy as well. we also got a cup of the spilt pea soup and that was amazing. a really perfect little lunch. the people that own the place were all so kind. you can tell it's family run and I love that. a couple of them stopped to chat with us while we ate and when we ordered our ham they were very informative as to what we needed to get for our family. i'm looking forward to our ham for thanksgiving and also want to come back for lunch when I want a yummy sandwich! read more

Do not recommend. Karen Stark is very rude and unprofessional. She apparently doesnt want anyone coming to use the bathroom at her establishment, so much that she put a hault to her meeting to let us know that it wasnt a public restroom. I've long been a fan of this locally-owned spot. For years I worked nearby and enjoyed the box lunches made under a prior franchise name. After the change to Boise Bistro Market, it took me a while to go back as I didn't really understand the change. Owners told me that a non-compete kept them from selling turkey or ham for a while, which seems like a challenge for a sandwich spot - but the product they brought in was creative and excellent. The wraps and sides are top-notch. For Thanksgiving, my aunt served a pork loin and it was incredibly flavorful and delicious. At first, I didn't understand it wasn't ham - but once it was pointed out that it was pork loin, I noticed that the cut was different. But the flavor was incredible - and better than most hams frankly. She noted that the meat came from Boise Bistro Market and I was even more wowed. It's great to see a local business overcome obstacles and keep jobs here - and to do it under constraints and still provide a superior product is impressive. read more

Just finished a BLT box lunch with potato salad, a diet coke and a honey raisin cookie for $9.50. It was amazing! The wrap had a generous amount of thick sweet and spicy bacon, cheddar cheese and a lovely BBQ sauce that was not overwhelming. Just the right amount of leafy lettuce, red onion and tomato were wrapped in a large, fresh, whole wheat tortilla. The potato salad was standard and the cookie delish! I purchased a large spiral honey ham and Fuji apples for Easter dinner for my family. The service at the store was courteous and very helpful with recommendations. What a find! I have driven past this place so many times, and each time wondered what was inside, could this be a good lunch destination? Well, I can say now that it is a good lunch destination! My husband and I came in for lunch on a Saturday and found the place completely empty! We were greeted by whom I assume was the manager and she happily guided us though the menu. I ordered the ham sandwich, since they pride themselves with their ham (They were very proud of their establishment). I also turned my order into a meal which added potato salad, a drink and a cookie. The sandwich came with 3 thick slices of sugar coated ham (Yum!), the normal fixings, but on a croissant!
