I cannot express how bad the food is at this restaurant. My wife is Cantonese and wanted me to pick up some Yang Zhou fried rice. I decided to be safe, ordered two different fried rice. She had sent me a message on the phone in Chinese, so I'd get the order correct. The food is practically inedible. As a straight up American, I can eat most anything, but this was simply wrong. After eating a bit, my stomach is aching. There is little flavor, too much salt, and too much oil. I am a passive person, but there was a voice nagging at me to drive by and thrown the rotten food at the door. It was also very much overpriced. I see all these good reviews so I wonder if it is because I took it to go that they really felt it was easy to take advantage of me? Regardless, it is not right how bad this was... I like this authentic Chinese restaurant located in the southwest side of town. This place is great for large groups. I've been here a few times, and I haven't had anything bad here. You know you're in an authentic Chinese restaurant when they serve a complimentary pot of hot tea. We decided to try the ginger and scallion lobster. The lobsters are live, and the server will show you the lobster before they cook it. You have the option to select the size lobster you want. The lobster was cooked and prepared cut and easy to remove the shell and eat. We ordered the smallest lobster, but it was more than enough for the both of us to share. We also had beef and broccoli to share. It had the perfect amount of sauce, which wasn't overpowering like most places. Again, I haven't had anything bad here. Their menu includes a lot of offerings. I think Taste is pretty good for authentic Chinese food, but it can be somewhat pricey and the tastes are just a little too much for me. Their black bean sauce fish had a little too much ginger, snow pea veggies had too much garlic. But the dessert is good and was included, as well as the hong kong pan fried noodle being Pretty good. This noodle dish uses crispy egg noodles and topped with a thick sauce and sauteed veggies and meat. The liquid softens the noodles but you get a fun crunch. If you've never had it, it's worth a try! I've never tried their duck before. Service is not great but the last time i went ot was actually good. They're great for family and groups and you really have that traditional chinese restaurant feel. I don't know what they put inside the food, but some of their dishes are so outstanding. I will be thinking about it for almost a week after I've had it. I first tried this place when I attended a graduation ceremony for a friend and they had everything ordered family style so I got to try and array of items. I have been back at least three times after that since some of the items were very hard to get out of my mind. There's this one noodle dish that is so freaking good. I just couldn't stop thinking about it and I've gone back several times and it has tasted as good almost every time another item that is a no fail item will be their roast duck. I had the super fancy expensive Peking duck for the friends event, but even the regular roast duck is absolutely delicious. There's something about the marinade that they've already injected into the meat that makes it taste so good. Other notable item would be there garlic, sautéed snow pea stems. It's a seasonal item so you need to ask. Price is kinda high. Easily the bill goes beyond $100 for two when I eat here. But also, we're fatties that don't know how to commit to just 2-3 dishes. You will certainly have leftovers to last you all week though. This spot is probably my current fave for roast duck/peking duck and my fave dine-in Chinese restaurant on this side of town. read more

This place is a gem. It gave the fine dining vibes when we walked in. It was open and spacious. My cousin's daughter had her wedding reception here and we were amazed. The theme was Chinese so all the tables were decorated in red table cloth. We were served a 10 course meals complete with Cantonese style lobsters. To the side they had a boba station set up. In their private room they had a Photo Booth set up. Anyhow even when it's not special occasions I highly recommend this venue. Their Chinese food are authentic and well presented, not to mention tasty and good portion. Service is superb. The servers kept up with us ordering and constantly switching out our plates for cleaner ones and bringing us drinks and removing empty plates. Thank you for your service! This was my first time at Taste. My Mother-In Law chose it for our family dinner. As soon as I walked in I was very impressed with the decor. There is a beautiful round crystal chandelier in the entryway that is very well kept. The artwork and lighting is very modern except for the one art piece with the horses. It seemed a little out of place. We were thinking that it maybe for the year of the horse. It is very clean as well. I left the ordering to them and just asked for Beef Chow Fun. I know I can eat that dish with my allergies. It was delicious too. To my surprise I was able to eat some more of the dishes they chose. Yay! The Clams with Black Bean Sauce had peppers and onions in it. It was very good. Next was the Eggplant with Garlic Sauce in Casserole. This is a dish that I order every time I see it on any menu. This and a bowl of rice and I can survive anything life throws at me. This is a little bit of a cheat for my allergy but I'll take the risk. I'll take the rash and walk around looking like I'm 6 months pregnant.......... There's more that includes a toilet so I'll leave it out. lol. This dish was the best I've ever had. I've had it in dozens of different restaurants but this is the best. Please don't miss this one. You will regret it. The eggplant is tender yet not mushy and the sauce is perfection. Definitely get rice. The sauce with steamed rice is so good. The server came by and asked if she could take the plate. There were only a couple of bites left and some sauce. I put my hand over the plate with lightning fast reflexes and said no thank you I'm still working on it. I quickly scooped up every last bit and threw it into my bowl of rice. I nonchalantly rubbed the spoon across the rice to get the extra sauce off the bottom. Phew ‍ Emergency avoided. The Lobster W/ Ginger and Scallion and E-Fu Noodles. I couldn't have the noodles but I had to have some Lobster. It was fabulous. They said the chef did a great job with the noodles. The noodles took on the flavor of the sauce instead of just being on top of it. I hope that makes sense. The presentation was beautiful too. The Peking Pork Chop was a no go for me. They said I'd was fantastic. I could tell by the way they were eating it that it was something else. I was so jealous. They said the pork was fried perfectly and stayed crispy even though it was covered in the sauce. The pineapples in it didn't really taste like anything but it added to the texture. I decided to have a piece of the pineapple so I could taste the sauce. It was very lacking in the pineapple flavor but it was good because it took on the sweet flavor of the sauce. As I ate another piece I accidentally took a bite of the breading left in the sauce that was the size of a pearl. OMG from that little piece I couldn't tell how amazing that dish must have been. I HATE MY ALLERGY! I turned to my husband and said "It was amazing wasn't it?" He looked down at the floor and said "yes it was." Finally for dessert was the Sweet Red Bean Soup. I don't know if that's what it's called. It's a soup made from sweet azuki beans. Most people know azuki from mochi confections or shaved ice. It was served hot and had pumpkin inside. Taste is open on Thanksgiving. We opted to order in a variety of food for this year's Thanksgiving and ordered the following after perusing the menu and reviewing others reviews on Yelp. Orange chicken 5/5 comes with a side of white rice Lobster harbor style 5/5, note lobster is market price so check pricing and you get to choose your fresh live lobster from the tank. Pan fried noodles 5/5 served separate when ordered to go so you can mix the broth/gravy with the noodles so they are fresh. To go order took about 35 minutes and Alex was helpful with my questions and pictures of the food I found online. Lots of tables inside the restaurant and all were packed for the holiday. Before checking into our hotel on the strip, we stopped by this Chinese restaurant recommended by our friend. My husband and I were nicely greeted and sat down as soon as we opened the doors. They had a variation of food items to choose from but we mostly stuck with meat options--what caught our eyes was the diced ribeye french style, roasted pork, mapo tofu with minced pork, and yang zhou fried rice. We got to Taste at 6:30 on Sat night and were pleasantly surprised that our party of 4 got seated right away. By 7:30 all the tables were taken. Every dish we had was so flavorful! I would get everything again with the exception of the crispy salmon skin and egg yolk. This is only due to the texture. I was expecting the good crunch of a salmon skin that is like a salmon skin in sushi. It was a little crispy, but more chewy. Lots of flavor, but not my jam. Also I think it would be a lot unless you have many people to share it with. We have been to Taste several times and it is always a satisfying tasty meal. Decided to try this Cantonese style restaurant for dinner from the wife who owns this restaurant coupled with the decent amount of yelp reviews. Normally I order Dry Beef Chow Fun but wanted to order some greens which tastes veggies but the dishes were enough for two. Instead I requested some Choy Sum with my chow fun and added wet gravy which gave added flavor to the greens! Great idea and was surprised to receive the complimentary hot tapioca ball dessert. Service standards were 5 stars as they replaced my paper napkin after they removed my entree as I was starting on my dessert. Our group of seven enjoyed the Peking duck and the lobster, but my favorite dishes were some of the less expensive options, especially the tender salt and pepper calamari, the melting eggplant and garlic casserole, the string beans, and the cumin lamb. An early birthday celebration for a friend brought us to Taste. Her choice. It was a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I was showed to a table despite waiting for the rest of our party of 5. Still pretty busy for a late afternoon lunch. Love the ambience of this Chinese restaurant. Clean, cozy and elegant. My Chinese friend ordered for us. And it was a feast! We had fishball soup, garlic pea shoots, braised Chilean sea bass, house special ginger and salt chicken, braised tofu with fresh mushrooms, beef chow fun. Everything was delicious! The soup despite the fishball was not fishy. The garlic pea shoots was so good as a side dish paired with the meats. The ginger and salt chicken was tender and flavorful. The braised Chilean sea bass was juicy and succulent. Love the braised tofu with fresh mushrooms! Very tasty and rich! The beef chow fun was not greasy and the beef was tender. Servings were more than enough for the five of us. We even had a bit of left over still enough for a whole meal. One of my friends brought cake for the celebrant and the staff even offered to put the cake in the cooler for after our meal. And when our meal was over, they provided us with dessert plates and a lighter to light up the birthday candles! So thoughtful! Very good service! Top of my list for Chinese restaurant. I came for lunch on a Sunday and thought this place was very mid. We got the Hainanese chicken lunch, half roast duck, mapo tofu, and the pea tips (or something like that). It was not memorable. The chicken and duck dishes had lotsss of tiny bones with very little meat. So not only was I working hard to eat, but it wasn't a ton of yield. The mapo tofu also looked more flavorful than it was, it was actually a bit bland compared to other restaurants. However, this most recent time was a disappointment. After being sat, we waited about 20-30 minutes for the server to even come up to take our order. Then we waited another 30 minutes for half of our dishes to come out. We had to wait another 20 minutes for the rest of the food to come out and that was after having to flag down the server, since she was just ignoring our table. As a note, we did not fit the usual demographic of customers, which I believe was the reason for our poor service.
