    Falafel from platter
    Jason P.

I had heard a Mediterranean restaurant would take the space occupied by longtime Parkville Market fav Twisted Italian. Although I was sad to see Twisted Italian go because it was great and was the only Italian restaurant in the Market, I was excited that the Market would have a Mediterranean restaurant, which is a new direction. I visited the Market with my family today and learned that Taste Mediterranean Kitchen opened a few days ago. The menu will feel familiar to Mediterranean fans. I ordered a (1) Platter with Hummus, Tabbouleh, Baba Ganoush, and Falafel; and (2) Chicken Cigars. Everything was good. The falafel had nice texture and tasted great dipped in a tahini sauce. The pita is the thin kind. The hummus, Baba G, Tabbouleh were all fresh tasting and on par with most good places. The chicken cigars were basically chicken shawarma slices stuffed in cool wraps. There were tasty too. The people running Taste seemed nice and eager to share their food. It felt kind of like a family place, which is a good thing. Nice addition to Parkville Market. 4 Stars

That said, the hummus was sensational. I absolutely need it again right now. The beet dip was also good, which says a lot coming from someone who does not usually like beets. They had many gluten-free options, and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. He was able to explain what I could and could not have, which I always appreciate as someone who is gluten-free. The decor is lovely, and the space could work for so many different occasions, from a date night to a celebration with friends or family. Overall, this was a great experience, and I would definitely return.

If you're visiting for the first time, definitely try the Whole Roasted Cauliflower, Crispy Za'atar Chicken, and their incredibly creamy Tahina Hummus with warm pita. The Moroccan Cigars are another standout appetizer. Every meal I've had here has been excellent, which is why I keep coming back. Highly recommend!

The ambience is magical and inviting and I met with a friend at the bar for their everyday "Social hour". This Mediterranean Bistro had such a delicious menu at great prices. So I had to of course try a variety of dishes. We stared with the Korean cauliflower which was my favorite. It was battered extra crispy and perfectly tossed in a ginger soy glaze. I also tried the Korean sticky bbq ribs, the chicken satay and the tuna tartare tacos. I was extremely happy with them all. Scott our bartender was phenomenal filling the drinks. I enjoyed a Spanish wine, the Secret Garden and the espresso martini. The dessert was even fabulous! A peach parfait made with local fresh peaches from Roger's Orchard. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!

I got falafel and chicken with the white and red sauces. I preferred the falafel to the chicken but I'm a weirdo in the sense that, if my teeth bounce on any sort of gristle, it's a turn off. Unfortunately the chicken wasn't my favorite. Don't let that turn you off though, you're not a weirdo, right? If I were to return I think I would focus on a falafel in a pita.

New York Gyro serves the Hartford area as one of the only, if not the only, halal gyro cart in the entire Central Connecticut area. There are other restaurants where you can buy and dine on gyro, but this is the only one on small non-drivable wheels. And let's be honest, there is a specialness to buying from a cart. The quintessential cart serves street food that adds another level of flavor that is quite hard to find anywhere under a roof. New York Gyro does not disappoint. They offer sandwiches and platters over rice or salad. I recommend trying their chicken and lamb gyro platter over rice. The white sauce hits the spot and is on the more tangy side. The platter includes a drink for $8. The portion is large and is hard to beat for the price and taste. Service is quick and the food is always satisfying. Street parking can be found nearby. Just make sure to bring cash!

When we first arrived,…read moreoutside the door was marked as "Adriatik's Catering" I wasn't sure if this is where Catering orders come out of, but it turns out it's all one place. The inside was entirely empty, a few people stopped by to pick up their orders, but no one was dining inside. On the wall they have awards they've received from 2011 to 2025, all for being in the top 10 restaurants. It was a bit awkward being the only ones here, but there are bigger issues in the world. Their menu offers pizzas, pasta, gyros, salads and more. We first got an order of their sautéed calamari. This had a nice tender and chewy texture. This is unlike what most places offer. The sauce was also very flavorful, we actually ate it by the spoonful like a soup. Their garlic bread was great for dipping into the sauce. Not a very garlicky garlic bread but not bad. We all got some variation of the gyro, with salad, fries or rice. Mine was with the Greek Salad. This Greek Salad was very fresh and the feta cheese on it sealed it all together. Unfortunately the lamb in the gyro was very overcooked and dry. It wasn't good at all. The tzatziki sauce is always a favorite. Overall I wasn't super impressed with my meal. I might stop by sometime in the future and try something else.

But as we know this IS the spot on the map for the best pizza, not the south end of the state, its up here in the middle. And Adriatik blends right in. Got that greeky crust going on, thicker than that lame thin New Haven stuff. A decent sauce, not too sweet, not too much 'zing'. You wont be getting heartburn from it. Works for me. You looking for a pasta dish, you'll find something worth checking out. Baked Manicotti was good. Prices are getting up there, as they are everywhere. Plenty of tables inside, has an old school pizza place vibe. Staff is always friendly and happy to see you. The place around the corner in the same mall ( starts with a G) always seems to have more cars, must be the booze cus the food over there sucks. Adriatik, go there.
