The…read moresmall shop owners are kind, helpful and ready to start a conversation at the drop of a hat. SO REFRESHING! On the main drag is an institutional bar and local staple, Gil's Goods. Worn hardwood floors that creak as you walk, unique signs and hightops to sit at while watching the World Cup, Gil's is straight off a movie set. The place is built for country fun and the local watering hole. Now the shocker, bar type food that can be slightly healthier and very flavorful, lives here. We ordered the watermelon mint salad with cucumber, watermelon cubes, mint, feta, onions and a reduced balsalmic vinegarette. The freshness of the watermelon with the punch of mint and balsalmic bite was perfect for a summer day. A Truly great choice! The crispy Korean chicken sandwich was enormous with Asian pickle, slaw, Korean BBQ and Gil's aioli was scrumptious. The fried sweet potato fries were less health, but sinfully good. It was a bit messy, but I could not stop eating, a two napkins meal. Gil's Goods is not a typical bar, but the food is packed with great flavor and savory selections that make you smile. A very nice meal and must return to in the future. Please put Gil's Goods on your next must try in Livingston, Montana. To the staff at Gil's Goods, awesome meal, fun atmosphere and please don't change.

Graze, I like that name. It fits for this new soup and salad place in Columbus…read more It's located at the end of a small strip shopping spot set back from the main road. Once you find it, you won't forget. It's a small place, with a dozen or so tables. The salad bar, off to the left as you enter and the soup stand at the back, are stocked with basic choices. It's not a behemoth salad/soup bar that can overwhelm you with options, but it does have a good mix of fresh salad fixings and soup. One look at the vegetables on the salad bar and I could tell the vegetables are hand cut. The soups (there were at least 3 on the day I was there) are all made by the owner. As with the salads, there are no pre-cut pieces of anything in the soup. Having sampled the chicken noodle soup, I can say it tasted home-made. The pieces of chicken were substantial and almost the same width as the large noodles. It was an ideal soup on that cold, dreary day. One of the owners was the cook for a local food truck and decided to expand to offer a healthier eating choice for the residents of the county. I appreciate her new direction, as it is hard to find a good salad place. Graze is a don't miss spot. You can eat-in or order to go, so there aren't any excuses for not giving it a try.

We visit this steak house regularly and most of the time we have a good meal, good atmosphere, and…read moregreat staff. On Wednesday evening we made a last minute decision to stop in for dinner and we are so glad we did. Sat at the bar as we like to do most visits, enjoyed a drink before ordering as we usually do but what came next was above and beyond and I have to share. We ordered our meal, and as my husband sometimes does, he ordered a rib eye and asked it to be cooked " as the chef recommendeds it". He does this all of the time...nothing more comes of it, dinner is served and it works out to be delicious most of the time. This evening there would be a different chain of events that would leave us very impressed. The bartender took it a step further, she decided to actually refer this order to The Chef... He took the time to come out to talk to us. He explained his experience cooking this choice of cut, he made a suggestion, and went into detail explaining the marbling. He offered his recommendation and we agreed. He called it "Pittsburgh Style", It was the best Ribeye we ever had, ( yes I made him share a piece ). I am sad to say we did not aquire this young man's name but we wish to recognize and commend him, not only on the result of the meal, but on his knowledge and dedication. He didn't have to take that extra step, but he did. And to our server/bartender...Kudos!

We were so excited for our meal at Montana's Rib & Chop House in Livingston! My husband had…read morereservations to celebrate my birthday after researching options in the area. The ambiance was very nice with a mixture of rustic and classy. We arrived early and planned to have a drink at the bar before our meal. The bartender was.... less than experienced. I ordered one of their signature drinks and even with the recipe book and someone else assisting him he managed to mess it up and forget a key item for it. After realizing it he did promptly bring me the missing component and was very friendly, I just wish it would have been correct to begin with. The staff asked if we wanted to see a menu to plan our dinner while we waited so we took advantage of that. Unfortunately, they gave us incorrect information about the version of the menu that was available to order from. It ended up not being helpful to look and plan early since we couldn't get what we saw ahead of time. Our hostess and waitress on the restaurant side was incredible. She was prompt, friendly, patient, and eager to please. We ordered the sirloin meals with a couple sides each and the Caesar salad for a starter. The salad was phenomenal! It kept us excited for our upcoming meal. The problem was the steak, which is pretty unfortunate at a steakhouse. I ordered medium and my husband ordered medium rare, but even after sending the steaks back twice each they were not correct. His steak was raw still and mine was rare. The server knew there was an issue because when she put the plates down she had us cut into the steaks to check their doneness both times and insisted she bring them back to get them right. She offered to bring new sides out as well so they'd be fresh when we had our properly cooked steaks as well. Again, she was great. She did what she could to remedy the situation. Unfortunately, by the time the steaks came back wrong twice we were not willing to give it another shot. The restaurant was pretty slow since it was a Monday, so I don't understand how the steaks could be sent out the wrong doneness twice. Either someone was new or they didn't care. The waitress went to get the manager for us, but they never came out to talk to us. It seemed like the least they could do to at least talk to us about the experience. Our meal was comped but we tipped the waitress healthily anyway because she really did try to make things right, she just wasn't the cook and couldn't fix the real issue. The experience was pretty lackluster for my birthday meal. It was memorable in the wrong way. I didn't even get a birthday dessert! We had to go to DQ for ice cream to have a birthday treat.
