We went back to try Taste again during this weekend and it's still a good spot to hit up in South Haven that is a bit different than what's around. We got: Sweet and spicy shrimp: 7/10 it's like boom boom shrimp. Not spicy. Blackened chicken: 5/10 I didn't really like how dry and overly salty it was. Ribs: 8/10 it's good but I think if they gave hand wipes it would have been less messy. Garlic mushroom: 9/10 would have again for sure! It was very garlicky and good but I would have loved more bread or an option to buy more of it to dip in the sauce. Because we went during the festival weekend it was very busy we had to wait ~45 minutes for a table for two. The wait was well worth it since it gave us more time to explore the neighborhood. Our server was very nice and quick! It's a great spot for a date in my opinion or a nice tapas dinner.

I was so happy to see that Taste is still alive and doing well in South Haven. It's been 11 years since I visited this town and this restaurant. Of course I had to dine here again since I had a great experience last time, and it did not disappoint. Austin was our server and took great care of us. He was friendly and personable. My husband and I started out with martini cocktails, a paper plane (bourbon drink) for him and a blueberry lemon one for me. Both were tasty. We decided to share four small plates for dinner - cilantro tuna roll, seafood dip, blue gill and jerk shrimp. Each plate was delicious. Food and cocktails on point! I definitely recommend Taste.

While vacationing at the beach, we decided to visit downtown for lunch. We really enjoyed this place. Modern, clean decor and great eclectic menu. We had: iced coffee, fish tacos, burgers, grilled cheese, beet salad and the lobster roll, which was phenomenal.

The jerk shrimp was fantastic. So good we went twice in two days. The first day food was better than the second day. I wonder if chef was different. The coconut rice on Sunday was less flavorful. Seafood dip was amazing and they accommodates gluten free with cucumber slices. Cocktails were delish and both inside and outside had good atmosphere. Waitress was the same both times and she was good.

I came here for a bachelorette party and it was easy to get everyone something they would enjoy. We got several appetizers to try and highly recommend the Mac and cheese. We had a reservation which I would suggest if you are going with a larger group. We had 8 in total and would've been waiting a long time without planning ahead. The bread and butter were fantastic and the potato pancakes with a chili applesauce were the surprise hit of the night. The sushi is just fine, but I'd recommend sticking with their more traditional American items because they do those better. The service was attentive and kind. She was able to give good recommendations off the drink menu and helped to make sure we got enough food for the table. On Saturday nights they have a two hour limit at the table and they did very kindly remind us of that as we neared it, but it was plenty of time for our group. Just a reminder for anyone looking for an extra long dinner.

I had high expectations here based on a family recommendation but they were definitely exceeded. We showed up at 4:15 on a Saturday afternoon in July and were told it would be a 75 minute wait--which we were willing to do. Then the hostess offered us the private room, starting immediately, if we thought we could be done by 5:45. (!!) She definitely didn't have to do that --she could have easily had us wait. But that little gesture was just above and beyond. The food did not disappoint either--everyone found a specialty wine or cocktail that they were excited about and although we were only there for appetizers, we were impressed with the food as well. Have you ever tried blue gill? Of course not! Here is the time. We loved this and will most definitely be back. Great vibe for a chic date night.

The bread was perfectly toasted, the meat was flavorful, and everything just worked together. My husband got the club and kept saying how good it was, and both of our kids liked their kids meals. The service was great too. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and our food came out quickly. The only thing that kept this from being a full 5 stars was the ambiance. The building itself has a lot of character and is really cool from the outside, but the inside felt a little dated. Overall though, we'd definitely come back because the food and service more than made up for it!

It was raining and past the dinner rush, so we were pleasantly surprised to have no wait. We had to start with the onion rings, which are a family favorite and never disappoint. We also ordered the Mess of Perch, which is an absolute must every time we visit. My dad chose the walleye, and my son was perfectly happy with the buttered noodles from the kids' menu. The perch and walleye both come with Texas toast and your choice of side, making for a lot of food. I got the French onion soup and it was great. We left completely stuffed and already talking about our next visit. What makes Clementine's so special is that it never tries to be anything other than what it is. In a world where everything seems to change, Clementine's has stayed true to itself, and that's exactly what makes it such a cherished part of our South Haven vacation tradition year after year.

It was well marbled, properly charred , and cooked at the right temp ! A winner. Unfortunately , it was an expensive experience with a big price tag. Stay away from the double baked potato - it came highly recommended by the server. Go to the baked potato where you decide the taste. Coming from a Chicagoland dinning experience , I thought the ambiance was steakhouse appropriate . Not your Southwest dinner experience - very upscale . Our server was excellent - she did an excellent job describing the various cuts of meat and various preparations. She was always available when we needed attention . Give it a try I think you will like the steak - just be prepared for budget breaker steakhouse meal.

I really wanted to be impressed by Sophie's, but wasn't. At all. The first thing that struck me -…read moreliterally - was some sort of hard metal brace on the underside of the table that extended straight down a few inches and made direct contact with my kneecap. Once the pain subsided, I noticed that the restaurant smells musty, kind of like an antique shop or a very old house that hasn't been cleaned well or regularly. Not how one expects a high-end steakhouse to smell. Our server greeted us, but did not introduce herself. She took our order but did not write it down. That's always impressive if the server remembers the order perfectly, although I'm always worried about it until the food arrives. As it turned out, I was right to worry. I had ordered my steak au poivre style, but our server had forgotten that detail and brought me a regular steak instead. I mentioned it immediately, and she first said she would just bring me the sauce that goes on the steak. I said that au poivre requires that crushed peppercorns are pressed into the surface of the steak before it's seared, so just bringing the sauce that goes on the cooked steak wouldn't work. I also told her that the steak au poivre was the reason I chose the restaurant. It's my favorite dish, and it's not on many menus. She told me she would take it back and "see what the cook wants to do" about it. I said, again, that doing steak au poivre correctly would require that a new steak be prepared, and she said that the cook likes to cook the steak partway, then press the peppercorns into the surface of the meat (it doesn't work that way; once the surface has been seared, it's not pliable enough for the peppercorns to adhere). She told me to pick up my potato and keep it while she took my steak back. She returned too quickly with my 'new' steak, which was very clearly the same exact steak. I mentioned how quick it was, and she gave me a story about how the cook was just getting ready to make someone else's New York Strip medium well, so he simply used my steak for them and prepared a new one for me . It had very few peppercorns on it because, as previously mentioned, they won't stick to the surface once it's already been seared. I decided to make the best of it and I cut into my steak, but it was very overcooked. I tried cutting into the opposite end, which appeared less overcooked, but it was inedible too. She didn't come back to see how the steak was until my friend was already finished eating, by which time I had simply slid my plate over to the end of the table. She told me that I should have let her know, and I pointed out that she hadn't come back. She said I should have flagged her down. I don't appreciate being told what I "should have" done; she should have come back, especially after dropping off a steak that was supposed to be a redo. I told her it was clear that the cook had tried unsuccessfully to press peppercorns into the surface of my original steak, which didn't work, and that it was overcooked as a result. She threw the cook under the bus, saying that she'd trusted him to prepare a new steak correctly, and that next time she would stay in the kitchen to make sure he did it correctly. She then said she would talk to the manager to see if he would let her Our server rushed us through dinner, which is not typical of a high-end steakhouse.
