THE BEST GYRO we have ever had!!! Up visiting from TN and really wanted a gyro ( don't have them by me) and this place was close to the hotel. Boy am I glad we went!!! The place does not look special but it is clean and definitely perfect for something casual and quick dining. I honestly did not expect much but they did exceed my expectation. The menu has a lot of different Greek food and local food options. The staff in the counter is honesty so nice and friendly I talked to her for a bit while I am deciding what to order and she shared that Greek food is really their specialties and they also offer catering! I find myself a seat after I ordered. The place is not packed and there are many available tables inside. The food is quick and I just ordered a pork belly gyros with seasoned fries which surprisingly has a huge portion and definitely can be shared that can fit for two people. The pork belly gyros are flavorful and well-cooked, the fries are well-cooked as well and well-seasoned. The food was good, but after a $24 tab for 1 entree, 1 tabouleh salad and side gyro..(no tzataiki)... They wanted to charge another .89.. Toooo many choices to spend $24 for a lunch for two. We were looking for some good Greek food since Greek Islands has been closed. Unfortunately we were disappointed. I understand that this is a more casual restaurant but that shouldn't matter as far as flavor goes. The gyros had very little seasoning and the meat was dry. The sauce wasn't even very tasty. Mostly mayo. The portion size was large and prices reasonable but doesn't matter if the food is tasteless. read more

Oh man I want to love this place as it's right down the street. I just got home with my chicken gyro (which is a-ok delicious) and 2 orders of fries as my boyfriend wanted me to bring him some. I asked for 2 orders of fries WELL DONE as we're picky about fries and like them hot and crispy. Well, they were medium rare wedges of disappointing sog at beat AND they're packaged in sealed plastic containers?? Why?! So the steam can make them even soggier? I hope this constructive criticism is taken to heart and they fix this problem! We are attempting to salvage them in the air fryer.... I want fries! Not soggy potato wedges. read more

The best gyros in il ...hands down. Their food is a must try. I sat down and had there classic gyro and the pork belly gyros. The taste was amazing and all there meats are in house. First time ordering from here. Called it in for pick up and was right down the street so I got there about 10 mins early ( was told would be ready in 20 mins) I waited an extra 20 mins. The order was 2 gyros sandwiches and a slaw. 3o mins. The gyros was close to being dust it was so dry. Very grainy tzatziki 2 small tomato slices and a half pound of thin sliced onion. The fries, which they put on the sandwich were full of tzatziki and totally limp. Had high hopes but was very disappointed. I'll stick to my usual gyros places in the same area. read more

If you are looking for something crispy outside and juicy inside, go directly to the pork belly gyro. With extra crunchiness of the fries, it is the best gyro we have ever tried in Chicago. Just noticed this place while in the area. Ordered the pork belly gyros plate, with oven potatoes as a side. This plate is enough for at least two meals, although you will need more pita and tzatziki. The pork belly was beautifully crisp and meaty. The potatoes were nicely lemony. Read about this new restaurant on Nextdoor Neighborhood and folks raved about it. We decided to give it a try. They moved into the long abandoned former Pizza Hut restaurant which sat vacant for years. I spoke with the owner, and he said the entire structure had to be completely rehabbed due to old construction and technology. Now, on to the food. Since many people know that I am deathly intolerant of onions in any form, I stated this to Crystal the woman taking orders at the register. One of the chefs near the 3 gyros "spits" chimed right in and said that all three (gyros meat, pork, and chicken) were seasoned with onions, so that was ruled out for my dinner selection(s). I had the pork souvlaki (boneless pork on a skewer), along with rice, a cut-up pita, and sliced tomatoes. I was assured that no onions were used and my meal was prepared far from anything that could have made me violently ill. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal, which was not too spicy, and very warm. Also shared a pair of baklava with my nephew who ate with me this evening. The restaurant was very busy, and I was impressed how clean it was. Tabled were continually cleaned, awaiting the next diner(s). I will return and try possibly the chicken next time. The baklava was kind of unusual as it sort of constructed of what tasted like shredded wheat! Still very good, slathered in honey. read more

Catered my wife's birthday party for about 15 people. The food was FANTASTIC. I had to drive back home to Niles IL., about 25 min. drive. The food stayed hot during the party and everyone loved it. There was lots left over and we were able to give some to family and had a few meals for the next day. I have ordered from this establishment several times and can't wait to order again. Been to Taste three times and they have delivered each time. Chicago style gyro is your standard gyro you can get at most places, but Taste's version had better flavor and was not greasy. It comes in a sandwich that comes with fries in the sandwich( not a fan, but you can ask for them on the side) or a platter with choice of fries, rice, or Greek potatoes. Fries are decent, but the Greek potatoes were outstanding. They also offer a pork belly gyro which, differs from your traditional gyro most are used to, but was very good and worth a try. Egg lemon soup was the best in the area outside of going to Greek town. Prices are maybe slightly higher with $8 for a sandwich and $11.50 for the player, but they don't skimp on the food. They offer a lot of other Greek specialties that I have not tried yet, but based on the gyro alone, this place is very worth a try. read more

First timer and I need to thank them - allowed me to sample all 3 gyro meats on a dinner plate (they all are same price). Pork Belly was very tasty - excellent. Chicken - was very good but not as much spice/flavoring as I would have liked. The Chicago gyro meat was probably Kronos the kind you get at all other gyro places...nothing special but still tasty. Pita was fresh, fresh slivered red onion....and so was the sauce - very thick yogurt based and different from others. Ordered the rice versus the greek potatoes or fries. Rice was very good and came with a couple of slices of grilled onion and a piece of grilled tomato. Will definitely return. Dinner plates are definitely enough for two. Thanks Taste!! read more
