So I checked the hours and made sure the place was open...I called but they didn't answer. I walked in at 8:40 and they closed at 9pm. None of the staff behind the counter, register or cleaning tables were wearing masks. Then they guy looks at me and basically tried to get me to not order. In a very rude tone he exclaims:"we have no sides because we're closing in a few minutes. U can have a handheld but that's it. I reluctantly ordered the chicken gyros and when I got home and opened it is was more of a grizzle chicken gyro. The chicken itself was sub quality and the fries were soggy, old and gross. Unlike your traditional gyro shop who all serve the same slab of gyro blend (you know it when you see it), this place sticks to tradition of slow-cooked layered meats for their pork belly and chicken gyro. I've been here 4-5 times, trying their different fare from the pork belly gyro which is unique to this place, to the lamb & beef kebab pita, to the chicken soulvaki and all I say say is "yum!" They also carry Greek imports for your pantry such as Greek Olive Oil, Mountain Tea, Greek Balsamic Vinegar, and other goodies. Beware! The customer service here is terrible and they will rip you of I was pretty excited to try this place, I've been looking for a good Mediterranean restaurant since leaving the city. So I had high hopes when I saw it open, only to be disappointed. After calling a few times between 430 - 5, I showed up at the door and was greeted rudely by a gentlemen who told me they don't take orders curbside and told me I had to call it in. I explained I did call a number of times and no one answered. He mentioned he had just gotten there, so it wasn't him who didn't answer. No apology for the inconvenience. Regardless of all of that, he took our order, got it wrong once which i realized when he brought out the receipt for payment, we waited outside for 30 minutes and took our order home only to realize once we were home that the kids hamburger meal was missing. I called immediately and of course no answer. I wasn't about to drive back for the burger so I made something else for my kids. I have left messages explaining the situation...and i have emailed them twice attaching my actual receipt and server name, I've received zero response. Terrible service for a restaurant so new to the area. I'd skip this place try Albaraka Grill instead. read more

Tonight, we tried Taste Greek Street Food ( in the old Pizza Hut location in the Jewel parking lot)and was very satisfied with our meal! Portions and prices are just right, and the food was pleasantly authentic. You taste all of the spices, but you're not hit over the head with it. Most takeout, we usually have leftovers to have for lunch afterwards.... we pretty much cleaned our plates! Some of these locations never got a true start, as they opened at the time of the pandemic. I sure hope that Westmont supports these restaurants long after its over...all of them will need it! read more

The combo plate (original and chicken gyro) was plentiful. From a volume standpoint, you get your money's worth, but the quality of the meat was dry. I am definitely coming back for "The Dirty One" sandwich which is made up of Pork skewer, Greek sausage, gouda cheese, onion, tomato, green pepper, spicy feta spread, mustard, ketchup! They offer 3 Gyros options all from fresh cooking spits, rotating behind the counter; traditional "Chicago Style", pork belly, or chicken. A gyros alone is $8, which is more expensive than a greasy fast food place, but the quality of their product drastically exceeds the competition. This new (late 2019) establishment has a modern Coca-Cola fountain machine, and clean inviting atmosphere. For chicken Gyros dinner, side of Hummus, and falafel, the bill came out to $21 after tax, and easily fed my pregnant wife and I. Ordering to go I was in and out in no-time. Very efficient staff. I would guess this is not their first restaurant endeavor based on how efficiently they took care of my order. Once their online order system is up and running it will be even faster! I Because you never get a second chance at a first impression.... I entered this new restaurant and approached the counter where the menu was posted. The employee did not take his eyes off of the large mounted TV and seemed more interested in the Tron cartoon playing than servicing me. I mentioned that this was my first time here, and he grunted while eyes glued to tv action. I placed an order for Greek style potatoes to go and another employee sneezed by the food and did not wash his hands. Major turn off! The potatoes were over cooked and not roasted, and there was some gravy poured over it. That's not how Greek potatoes are prepared. Finally have found my go to Greek joint! I had a chicken gyro plate and my husband had the chicken souvlaki plate which he destroyed before I could snap a shot. He got a side of potatoes, I got fries and both were equally good. Between the 2 plates, we both agreed the souvlaki was better but the chicken gyro wasn't far behind and tasted totally authentic. I've been here multiple times. I think it's going to be a new staple. Clean, quick, and tasty. Simple food but the smell is incredible. They make their own gyro - hand butchered (it's like super-bacon ) They still offer traditional gyro as well.The staff is excellent. The place has really captured a similar feel to Restaurants and cafés in Greece. I'm looking forward to the summer in hopes that they grill outside. read more

So glad to see a healthy-ish, child-friendly fast casual place open in the Westmont/Downers Grove area. I've now visited twice: once with my husband and two small girls and a second time to order carry out. Both times the food was delicious and in enormous portions. The chicken gyro was great as was the Greek salad with chicken. The latter could easily feed 2-3 people. T staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I look forward to returning. read more

I I've tried a decent amount of Greek restaurants since I travel for work and use Uber Eats or GrubHub-- this is the best Greek food I've ever had from a restaurant and the service is second to none. On one of the orders, my request for tzatziki didn't show up on his end (through Uber Eats) and do it wasn't in the order when I got it, so I called them and he sent someone BACK out to deliver me tzatziki sauce. This is the best meal I have had in a long time! We ordered the falafel wrap, some feta fries and grilled veggies. Everything was PERFECT. The fries were cooked perfectly, with an amazing amount of feta. The falafel wrap was bursting with fresh vegetables. The Sriracha tahini sauce was a great accompaniment. Delicious! We had a nice, casual weeknight dinner here. The gyro plate had a generous portion of crispy, delicate gyro meat; easily made 3 sandwiches (order extra pita!). The Greek lemon soup was heaven. Everything was fresh and the pastitsio was piping hot and flavorful. Falafel was also good. I ate here before the pandemic so this was an in-store experience and I had just forgotten to post about: Loved the pork belly gyro and would happily order it again. The falafel was good but the sauce didn't add much to the flavor. My older son loved the pork skewer on the kid's meal. The fries Were great but the feta fries were only okay. Service was fantastic! I wish there were a few more veggie items (either meals that aren't salads or sides.) I will happily eat here again! read more

A week or so ago we ordered the Souvlaki platter which used to be fantastic but last week it was bland - didn't taste grilled at all, sauce was flavorless and we didn't get lemon with it as we did before. Tonight we decided we'd try Taste again - maybe last week was just a bad night. We each had Classic Chicago Gyros that was almost flavorless. The tomato didn't taste fresh - surprising because it's tomato season! Tonight's dinner was almost $40 including tip and it wasn't worth it for this blah meal. the online menu makes it seem like with the main selection you get a side included with it. Not true - sides are $4 extra. The greek potatoes and the rice were absolutely flavorless. Too bad. We need a good greek restaurant/take out in Westmont- Taste used to be that place for us. The food was awesome. The pork belly gyro was delicious, and the seasoned steak fries are super yummy. What prevents me from giving it a higher score is the fact that when I went in to get my food--no one was wearing a mask. No one in the kitchen was wearing a mask. The girl behind the register had a mask below her nose. Three people entered without masks and were served with no issue. It's a pandemic, people!! Worst experience ever. I wish I took a picture of the red wine I was served. It was a 3 ounce pour of Rose even though I ordered red and they acknowledged they were out of the red but served me a Rose anyway. Did I mention it was a 3 ounce pour? It was returned. I didn't order a Rose. It was a 3oz pour. Now onto the food. What was ordered was a mixed grill. This was the only highlight. The sausage was excellent as was the pork and chicken skewer although very small. The classic gyro meat was pretty good and was actually plentiful. Now let's get back to the bad. The grilled vegetables were just really onions. Onions in oil. Not grilled vegetables at all. Nothing grilled at all. Just oil. The coleslaw wasn't edible either. It was pure mayonnaise. Not even a hint of slaw. Both went in the garbage. Save yourself time and keep driving and go to Apolis in Lisle and Lombard. This place won't last long like Covo next door didn't. read more
