We saw an ad for this place at the campground we were staying at and it sounded good. Wasn't what we had expected. It is a store front restaurant in a strip mall. The atmosphere is "parking lot chic". The staff was friendly enough. They were ok with us having our dog on the outdoor eating area. Limited menu, Chinese and seafood. My wife had shrimp in oyster sauce, and spring rolls.I had shrimp and sausage boil. Servings were generous and the food was good. Shrimp were large and tasty. WOW! This place was great for a quick stop for a late lunch. The food is fresh, hot, and comes out quickly! We ordered the orange beef (highly highly recommend!), chicken fried rice, vegetable lo mein, and egg drop soup. All came out very quickly, piping hot, and super fresh. This is an Asian restaurant that provides seafood boils. The food was fresh but the sauce did not compare to Tasty Crab in Richmond. Mama Dees sauce just hits different. The sausage was paper thin, but the potato was enormous! That's different. The service was fast like any takeout and the restaurant was empty on a Sunday afternoon. I was kinda suspicious that nobody was inside, but that's how most Chinese takeout restaurants are. It was clean and a nice spot for a weekend country drive. Now, the Asian persuasion was on point. I read reviews on the hot and sour soup, it was delicious. I did order Yakisoba and got Lo Mein. It was still good, not dry, but I really wanted the thinner noodle experience of the Yak. I may try the other dishes one day when I'm out near Lake Anna. No pictures, maybe next time. read more

I was really excited to check this place out due to the significant amount of high reviews, but I just can't really recommend it based off of what I ordered. I got one of the seafood bags which had shrimp, snow crab claws, potatoes, and sausage in it. The shrimp were not quite as fresh as one would hope for, or maybe they were overcooked... I'm not quite sure. Several of the shrimp I ordered were a bit mushy/off texture wise after peeling. The snow crab claws were also disappointing. The meat was not plump and juicy. I can't exactly put my finger on it... but with snow crab claws being one of my favorite foods, I've had some really good ones and some really mediocre ones. This unfortunately was the latter. The mussels to me... didn't taste unfresh... but were so aggressively briney that I ate 1 and thought that maybe I just got an off mussel. I ate a second one to confirm and then just stopped eating them all together. So out of the whole seafood bag... I probably enjoyed the potatoes and sausage the most ( but wasn't really interested in filling up on sausage because I keep a low sodium diet). Then... if that bag wasn't disappointing enough... I went to fill myself up on rice and the rice just wasn't even really of high quality or cooked right. Yikes. I definitely finished the meal asking myself... how fresh this seafood was... and the implications of if it wasn't. Luckily nothing made me sick or anything. But I did feel a bit downtrodden after spending so much money on a meal that I was quite excited for... but didn't live up to expectations to say the least. Unfortunately, if I went to Lake Anna again... I wouldn't likely find myself at the Tasty Crab. I really wish I could say otherwise. read more

Four stars for the good combo of price point, service and tastiness. I was looking for lunch when I passed this place and quickly realized this was what I wanted, deep down inside. The crab cake was tasty, as were my Cajun fries. My server was friendly and was very proud how they give large portions. My family loves getting the crab and shrimp boil with sausage and potatoes. Depending on how hungry one is, you can share a bag but typically each person gets their own. It's expensive but good seafood is.. we've been ordering from them for a few years and we are happy with how fresh the food is. This was an OK place. The server seemed like she might actually be high, either that or just a very wild and crazy spirit. She just seemed to lack behavioral boundaries. The menu shockingly didn't have much in the way of crab. I figured I'd be able to get anything crab, based on the menu. This is an Asian style restaurant and appears to be associated with the Asian diner next door. I gave this restaurant 3 stars because the food I did order was good. This place surprised me. We took the boat to the Tasty Crab and docked for free at the dock. Great atmosphere at the dock and grassy area. It was Roped off and head games for kids like corn hole and frisbee golf. We noticed the people were getting food from the tasty crab and taking it to the dock area and eating at the picnic tables. We had a table for 10 including five little kids. Server was friendly and many happy patrons surrounded us with great looking food. The seafood was fresh and delicious I highly recommend getting the shrimp and muscles by the pound with the garlic and butter sauce. This was by far the best option on the menu. The bucket comes with corn and sausage. Others at the table got the shrimp basket and chicken fingers of which were not that great. Also a Dish that was not a big hit was the Raman. Ramen Ramen was just not good. Stick to the buckets of fresh seafood and you can't go wrong. read more

I've been here a few times and each time it's a great Experience. The portions they give you is very filling and it's always fresh. Orders are not always as placed. To many times this has happened only to be drenched in garlic . The second time this happened I made sure to specify I did not want garlic and sure enough it was drenched in garlic. Very disappointing. Not happy. read more

We have tried this place a few times so far, and the food has consistently been fresh and delicious. Our personal favorites are the Cajun wings, which aren't very spicy at all and the fried noodles (yakisoba)! We've also had the ramen soup, which was good but not quite as flavorful to us. My wife and I tried this place today. In short, this one is a keeper! She had the shrimp basket. The shrimp were nice and crispy, the fries were quite good. I had veggie ramen with miso. I tend not to be a veggie fan, it gets in the way of protein. However...this was really good! The veggie kitchen sink in a nice light broth. Beware, this could be dinner. We also had spring rolls , also very good. One suggestion, don't try to eat ramen in the car. Trust me on that. The only slight negative is the fried food came out with a touch of grease. When you order, expect to be served a great meal that you will likely not be able to finish at the 1st seating but will be great as a second meal (at least this is the case with my wife and ). Finally! A place in Mineral / Lake Anna to get some really good seafood. Love the "in the bag" packaging and perfect for taking it home. This is a elbows up, pass me the paper towels, roll up the sleeves kind of place that we adore. We got a few combinations of shrimp, mussels and crab with all the fixings (corn, potatoes and sausage). You get what you pay for and we'll definitely order again.
