We completely understand that they're a staffing shortage, but that doesn't mean no service at all. The last two times we were here, the staff didn't even want to service us. We had to ask for drinks, then had to call them for utensils, had to track them down to take our orders. Two girls were in the front the whole time, and we had to ask for our bills and refills. This is a great single-serving hotpot place to come to catch up with friends. They have preset hotpot topping and broth choices, which is pretty nice if you're an indecisive person like me. The ones that I've tried here and really liked are: -Singapore Laksa Hot Pot -Taiwanese Spicy Hot Pot -Porcini Hot Pot It's nice because each hotpot also comes with a side of your choice of : 1) white rice, 2) braised pork, 3) rice, or 4) vermicelli. I really like the braised pork. Each hotpot here is a pretty large portion, and can honestly be shared within 2 people. I've seen a lot of people share with each other. If you come here starving though, then you can definitely finish an entire one on your own. The flavors are really good and I love all of the toppings that come with each. I honestly love the idea of individual hot pot. It's recently been all the craze lately. There's individual all you can eat and then there's just individual. Tasty point has some great flavors and let me tell you, TOM YUM is definitely my favorite. I can just slurp up the entire broth. Let me tell you, I've been here only two times, and LET ME TELL YOU. Tom Yum is the way to go. I could just drink it. I've gone here with my friend and the two times we've been here, we've literally sat at the table directly in front of the door. And the Laksa was okay. Nothing to really note. Nothing beats the Tom Yum. ugh I can't stop thinking about it. I really recommend getting the vermicelli. I mean, come on. You can't eat hot pot without noodles. But if you're not for it, then go for the braised pork rice. Can't go wrong cause its all so good. I've only tried the spicy beef tripe and it definitely has a really good flavor. Almost reminds you of a Szechuan meal. It really packs a punch! Service is pretty hit or miss. Not sure if my taste has changed or if there are just so many other hot pot places around town now, but this place is only average to me. I went back today for the first time in many years and was unimpressed. I guess for the price it's still pretty good. The large pot is $18-21, so the regular pot is around ~$17 for lunch. With it, you still get a drink plus your choice of braised pork rice, vermicelli, or regular white rice. There was only one person servicing about 5 tables, and he did a really good job of keeping up. 5/5 I ordered the Porcini Pot (large) with the braised pork rice. The braised pork was good - sweet and savory Taiwanese style - but it was just a thin layer on top. The pot started off ok, but after taking a couple bites, the soup became very salty and the meal was less enjoyable after that point. I started fishing stuff out to drain it. As far as mushrooms, I could only find a couple strands of enoki, maybe 2 shiitake mushrooms, and some maitake? Lots of fish balls, which were nice, and more meat than the usual (maybe 8-10 pieces in the large pot?). Each table comes with 3 sauces - the usual red pepper spicy one, the sha-cha, and a garlic soy sauce. Given how salty this was, I didn't really make use of the condiments. I do generally like their drinks though. If you don't like super sweet, you should definitely get 50% or lower sweetness level (consider even 30%). I tried the white peach with coconut jelly. I give it a 4/5 and it was pretty refreshing on a hot day (and after the salty broth). I'm not sure which sweetness level I got - I assume he gave me 50% because I thought it could have been less sweet. It's a pretty tall drink, unlike most tea houses that give you a little bitty cup. Honestly one of the best and most satisfying dining experience ever!! Have you ever wanted to eat something fulfilling (aka more than just one entree with one kind of meat at a restaurant) but don't want to spend AYCE prices either? If so, then Tasty Point is the perfect option. I went to the location near Great Wall and it was packed with people with the same idea. I ordered the Taiwanese Hot Spicy hot pot and the braised pork rice as a side (which is included in the price btw). My assessment of how good a hot place is depends on the quality of the ingredients, and I'm happy to say that my huge bowl of hot pot includes so much beef, fishball/beef balls with actual fillings (which is more expensive than the ones without), some unique cuts of pork that I rarely have at other restaurants, and expensive garnishes such as taro and enoki mushrooms. With that said, the ratio of these ingredients may not be what you would order for yourself at an AYCE hot pot place (I personally would order an excessive amount protein...) but at the total price of only $24 (tax and tips included), I was sooo fulfilled and satisfied with my experience. The hot pot also came with the option to be lit up from the bottom (the flame will extinguish itself after 15 mins or so) which creates a very exciting eating experience. Tasty Point isn't the same as it was when it first opened, or maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. My husband and I are Korean so we ordered the army stew hot pot to share. It's like all the ingredients in Taiwanese broth lol. No Korean flavors in the broth at all. There are two servers who manage the front check out area and tend to customers. They're both glued to their phones the entire time so when I wanted siracha, I got up and grabbed it from the fridge myself. Only some of the tables had hot pot sauces, and the one on my table plus next to us were missing half of the lids. So giving the 3 stars cuz family got their ramen and it wasn't bad necessarily but with the price point and comparing it to the quality of the hot pot order (we got the curry laksa), I don't think we would order again. We've had a lot of ramen from stove top to authentic Japanese, and maybe we'd be less critical if it was stovetop but it was pretty clearly not authentic and the tonkatsu broth was very muted plus the ramen egg was just hard boiled, it could've been a Taiwanese take but yeah the price didn't reflect in quality in our opinion Curry laksa was good, we appreciated that our server could adjust the heat level- the various seafood ingredients, tofu, etc was harmonious. Wish there was more vermecelli noodle, the amount was def not enough. Maybe it's cuz It was a hot pot version but personally I wish it had more of the strong curry notes. The Porcini had more items in it, but its broth was alright compared to Japan's. Japan's was creamier and slightly sweeter. It didn't taste sweet like boba hot pot but more like that of pumpkin sweetness. Overall, the hot pots were alright and pretty standard. The beef skewer was dry rubbed and had a very strong curry smell, and I thought someone forgot to put on deodorant . Despite the smell, the beef skewer was really crispy yet and had pieces of fat which made it even more delicious. The teas were fresh and refreshing on a hot day. They weren't super sweet and were slightly watery, which I don't mind bc it's a not a boba place and more if a food place. Aside for the few morsels of meat, the rest of the pot is packed with simple veggies and varieties of fish balls and fish tofu - also cheap supermarket items. Any additional items will cost you extra. With the exception of the broth, I can roughly estimate each pot to contain $3-4 worth of ingredients? So is it worth it for me to dish out $10 for a can of gel fuel, a bowl of rice, and a small portion of broth that lacked enough taste to force a non soy sauce person like me to consistently use sauce with every bite? Their hotpot dishes are delicious. My fav are the pumpkin based soup (they renamed it to be golden something) and the herbal soup base. I also used to love their tomatoe based soup but I think the receipe has changed over the last year and now I no longer like that one. Their lunch/dinner comes with a braised pork rice (or plain rice) which is always so yummy. The reason I took off one star was for their dessert. Their sticky rice cake is advertised both in bring and on the video that is playing in the background. It's based in glutenous rice flour -年糕. So when made fresh, it's soft, sometimes gooey. I've always been a big fan of hotpot, and I was excited to try this place after seeing the reviews. Upon walking in, the workers take your temperature, but there are no other guidelines in place. The small restaurant was full of people, to the point where we were side-by-side with other customers. Unlike AYCE restaurants, their pots are pre-arranged with proteins, vegetables, noodles, etc. Their portion sizes are large; an individual hotpot comes with your choice of braised pork rice, white rice, or vermicelli noodles. At about $15, you could comfortable split the pot between two people. Nonetheless, I wasn't impressed with the taste or ingredients in my pot. I'm not sure if their menu changed, but I ordered the Golden Spicy Soup Beef Hot Pot with braised pork rice. The waitress told me that they couldn't customize the spice level and to use the hot oil provided on their tables. My pot had no spice whatsoever -- why the kitchen wasn't able to make each order spicier? The meat was already overcooked and thrown into the top of the pot. There was a lot of cabbage and pumpkin, but not a lot of mushrooms and other ingredients that were listed on the menu. My friends had the herbal and tom-yum options as well. The herbal tasted the most classic, while the tom-yum had a very strong tangy flavor. They also mentioned that they were missing some ingredients like clams as well -- this would've been fine if we were told beforehand. I never tried stinky tofu before, but I always thought they were fried, maybe I got the wrong one? The super french fries was just long and cool looking. I was actually to hope that it'll taste good with the sauce and everything. We also ordered a few BBQ Skewer cuz I used to love the skewers from Chuanr, but they closed down. We order the lamb and the pork belly. The lamb was decent, but the pork belly was a big portion but no flavor and it seemed like it was fried. I wasn't a big fan of that. Hot Pot - We ordered #9, the Taiwanese Spicy Hot Pot. The spiciness was good enough for me to handle. I really like how the tofu imprinted the logo of the restaurant. The portion of the meat was pretty good too, it also comes with ramen noodle inside. Aside from that, you get to choose a side of white rice, braised pork rice or vermicelli. I would recommend the braised pork rice because it tastes like zongzi, sticky rice dumplings. I would want to buy a whole portion of that, but my friend told me that it was a small portion, so I end up not getting it. Dessert - There are a few desserts to choose from, and we got the creme brulee. The desserts comes in an egg shaped container. I thought it was pretty nice, but it doesn't taste like creme brulee. We are hooked after the first time! There was even a wait at 9pm on a Friday night. If you want personalized hot pots with different soup bases to choose from, try this place out! Place is kind of small so not ideal for really big groups. I like the detailed picture menu, you can see what entices you and what's in each pot. So far, we've had the coconut cream curry, herbal, Taiwanese and laksa and all were all were pretty good; averaging $15 a pot depending on which you pick. Upon arrival, the staff takes the temperature of each guest (points for Covid-19 friendliness!) I didn't try to replace any of the ingredients, but if that option was available, I probably would have considered other soup bases. The restaurant its self is very small however the decor is very cute! It's well lit, clean, and inviting. We were seated as soon as we walked in and given utensils and menus. The menus are very detailed so you'll know exactly what you're getting. I had already explored the menu and pictures on yelp so I knew exactly what I wanted. My friend on the other hand took a minute to decided. I went with the #5 Singaporean Laksa Hot Pot (mild) with vermicelli as my side. For my beverage I decided on the mango tea. I was very pleased with my choices!!!! Everything in my hot pot was delicious!!! Very filling, savory, flavorful, and all the other descriptive words us yelpers like to use. The dish exceeded my expectations!! The tea was very refreshing and paired well with my dish. My dish had vermicelli already in it so I really didn't eat my side of it. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the free dessert (free with check in) I chose Durian pudding. Glad it was free. My friend ordered the #3 and was very pleased as well. I love their curry hot pot and it's sooo filling. Everyone needs to try it! The braised pork rice is always something I look forward to. However, I do wish their prices were a little cheaper though because paying $18 for a bowl of hot pot (albeit filling) is a bit too much. They do have lunch specials ($1 less) but I wish there were options that were more reasonably priced. The menu is pretty extensive so for those that don't like hot pot, there are also other ramen and meat/rice dishes. They also have appetizers and tapioca drinks to contribute to the already yummy meal. read more
