Yesterday evening was my first time at this Tasty Pot location in Berkeley. I've been to Tasty Pot all around the Bay and the service is on par with any other location. Ordering is done via a QR code on the table, but you have to pay your bill by calling over a staff member. I ordered the curry beef hotpot, while my wife ordered the lamb hotpot. Despite the restaurant being pretty full, our orders arrived quickly. Throughout our meal, a waiter stopped by multiple times to check if we wanted more broth added to our hotpot, or more water. The hotpot itself is large enough that even the most hungry diners will be satisfied, especially with the extra large serving of rice that comes with the hotpots (you can optionally choose vermicelli noodles instead). There's a wonderful variety of ingredients in each of the hotpots, with a good balance between seafood, meat, and vegetables. If there's a specific ingredient you're craving and it's not listed as being included in the hotpot, you also have the option to add it on during the ordering process for a pretty minimal fee. The reason why my review is not higher is because the meat quality really fell short. For example, the lamb in the hotpot was completely shredded and didn't have an enjoyable texture, almost like it had been carelessly and forcibly scraped off from a un-defrosted slab of meat out of the freezer. Asides from the meat, I really enjoyed the strong curry flavor in my hotpot and appreciate that you can choose your spice level in the app when ordering. I went with medium and it was the perfect level for me -- enough to get me sweating, but not not spicy enough to make the meal not enjoyable. For $40 after tax and tip for the two of us, Tasty Pot is an affordable and chill dining option in the downtown Berkeley area. 3.5 stars, but rounding down to a 3.
very solid place :-) i always come in when im craving something soupy as i like to get the beef hot pot! it comes w a lot of toppings and actually quite a lot of beef as well. usually i opt to get the rice as a side since theres vermicelli included in the pot already (which is a big plus because i get the best of both worlds). its basically self seating when it's empty and you can just scan the qr code to order so not that much interaction is needed - i usually will maybe ask for an extra broth refill when its running low or for them to turn off the heat i wish they had caps for their sauce containers for when i do take out :( bc i love their sesame sauce... overall, v yummy easy meal (though i think i still prefer boiling point)
Food: This is a different branch I've been and the quality is pretty stable. I had Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Soup with medium spicy this time, and if you're an Asian, this spiciness is right around the level you can enjoy the hot soup. Very delicious! Service: Order with QR Code, and the staff is helpful as well. Ambiance: the restaurant is more of a medium-small spot with casual vibe but clean and nice. Definitely a place for students after school.
===TL;DR=== - #3 Cheesy milk hot soup w/ vermicelli - #1 Beef hot soup w/ rice ===TMI=== First time at this location, no wait for a Saturday afternoon. Pretty spacious place with a hole in the wall feeling since it's off the main street. They serve you with their house classic green iced tea and you order off their QR code. I got my favorite cheesy milk pot but in the very spicy level! Milky glory, -salivates-. If you're lactose intolerant, highly recommend the beef pot, a signature classic that you can't go wrong with. Self served sauce is on the side for easy access if you want to amp up the flavors. Overall, I still like their other chains more.
Came here during lunch on a Sunday. It wasn't so busy and I got seated immediately. You order through a QR code. I go the cheesy milk soup and got a few things removed that I don't eat. I added ramen and egg. The dish comes with vermicelli noodles, so I thought when I ordered ramen it would sub out the other noodle. Unfortunately, there were vermicelli noodles already in my bowl. I like vermicelli, but not with hot pot. The downside is they do not do substitutions here. Also, the price is on the high side. I paid $24 for everything. For that price, I can grab ayce hot pot for less on a weekday.
The perfect cozy meal for a cold, windy day in Berkeley. I really enjoyed the experience of individual hot pots. Solid ingredient variety and generous portion size, enough to last me two meals. Additional customization would be nice, but I was happy with what was provided.
Friend was in the mood for soup, so we got soup! Came for lunch and got seated in their upstairs section. Lunch comes with sweet tea which is a great addition to the meal. I ordered their Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Soup (still not spicy enough for me!) while my friend opted for their lamb hot soup. They were both sizable portions and stayed hot through the meal thanks to the burner underneath. Food was tasty and each soup has a wide variety of ingredients. They have soybean paste on the side which always elevates a hotpot meal. The atmosphere is pretty casual and just slightly cramped, but worth it since there's not many other comparable options in the area. They also come around with refills for soup when it evaporates/you eat too much of it.

I didn't feel like cooking so I got this tasty seafood hot pot delivered to me ! It arrived piping hot and exactly as I had ordered it online. You can get these hot pot bowls with either rice, vermicelli noodles or ramen noodles and you can request the degree of hotness you would like but keep in mind.. the mild is still pretty zippy for me at least. The broth was very tasty and I had leftovers for the next day! Definitely will be going back !
Good experience and the first time we've ever had hot pot come with everything already in it. The beef hot soup had really great flavors with so many things in the soup. The Sichuan hot soup was SUPER spicy; too spicy for me, but great if you like very, very, very spicy foods. I would have preferred to quick dip and cook the beef because it got overcooked from sitting in the soup for too long. Other items in the soup were great like the fish balls, meat balls, imitation crab meat, veggies, and vermicelli noodles. There was a side sauce that was really yummy for dipping the beef and other meats. Service was pretty good and quick. Water and soup was refilled consistently. Ambiance felt like a mom & pop shop making it feel very authentic and fun.
Came to the Berkeley location for the first time. Pretty close to campus, cozy space. The portion size is very good for the price. My friend and I are both very full. It comes with a side or rice or vermicelli, but each pot already has some so it's a nice extra. You order with a QR code and they come around to refill soup and water. Service was also pretty good.

It was such a cold day, meaning it was PERFECT for some hot pot! I hadn't gone to Tasty Pot since freshman year, so it's been a while, but it hit SO different because my friends and I were craving it. The workers were quick to bring our food out, fill our water, and refill the broth! Pro tip: ask for the sauce to eat with the hot pot bc it's SO GOOD!! WHEN: 11/6/21 Saturday @ 1pm Heard a lot about Tasty Pot in berkeley as it's the only hot pot location in the entire city. The place is located in downtown Berkeley right next to campus. The place is really big with two levels and a lot of tables available. They're only open a few hours so expect to wait if you come during peak times. Ordered the curry pot ($15), Szechuan pot ($18), and kimchi dumpling pot ($15). They give complimentary sweet ice tea which was really good. Tasted like a mix of black and chrysanthemum tea. The food came out fast even though the place was really busy. Each of the broths are the same (pork broth) but differs on if you get different flavors. I thought it was delicious! The flavors of each pot were really nice and the portions aren't huge but arent small. You can definitely finish one pot on your own. Tasty Pot is one of my favorite soup places of all time. It just fulfills all of my cravings, I love the hot soup and taste. I usually get number 1- beef and beef hot soup or the Taiwanese supreme spicy pot-- that one is larger with noodles and lots of more meats and intestines but the soup so so good. They come in fire heated pots where you can keep it on or shut it off. All soups come with rice or noodles for an additional cost. I like to dip my meat in the sauces they give. They also can give you additional broth while you're eating, so sometimes you can share but a lot of people can eat it all themselves. I love going to tasty pot post bachelorettes. They give you complimentary water and they also have milk teas/bobas there too. You can order via QR code and take care of everything or you can order with the server. It's probably easiest through the QR code and for anything additional you want. Located within downtown Berkeley, parking can be difficult when it's busy. There's street parking right out front or you'll have to circle around to find a street spot. I came in on a Sunday evening upon closing and got lucky. If you like Asian soup, you have to try Tasty Pot at one of their locations. If you don't finish you can also take it home! They have other appetizers which is good for children but we mainly go for the soup. read more

Tasty Pot is a top spot for some Asian-centric soup in Berkeley. The soups were all incredibly flavorful and they really load the toppings. Shout out to Michael, one of the servers here. He was super attentive, answering all of our questions, refilling waters, and brought our food out. He's honestly jacked because the dude lifted 2 hot pots at the same time. We came on a rainy Saturday night craving the goodness of piping hot food and that is what we got! We arrived @ 6pm and waited 30 minutes to be seated. Neat thing was we were able to order while waiting and our food came out less than 2 minutes after we were seated. It's a pretty good system in my opinion. We both had the Sichuan spicy pot and the flavor was on point! It was authentically spicy and not just salty as most places do to their broths. The portion size is generous and with free rice and vermicelli (I ordered udon instead) we walked away with full and happy bellies. Will certainly be back! read more

Hearty Taiwanese hot pot, served in a cute single person portion! However, the service and quality of food may keep you from returning. The beef hot soup is well packed with different meats and veggies to keep you interested. However, I feel like the amount of beef was exchanged for larger quantities of Napa cabbage. The cuts of beef are also a bit tough and rubbery. The broth tastes a bit watered down and not very savory. I also found a broken clam shell with jagged edges and broken pieces in my soup that if I accidentally ingested, could have cut me badly. The restaurant refused to do anything about this or exchange my hot pot for a new one, which convinced me to stop eating. If you come for lunch, you get a free cup of green tea with your meal. I thought mine was very refreshing. The ambience inside is homey; they play trendy music on par with the college campus nearby. I ordered taiwan spice hot pot. It's only $20 but huge size. Only half of the hotpot could Make me full. They offered a small alcohol stove to cook hot pot. It make sure the food won't be cold when you was eating. I really like the soy bean chili sauce on the table side. It is perfect if you like If you like a strong taste. Worthy to come. read more

The hot pot here satisfied my hot pot craving, I love how rich the broth is and how quickly it cooked in the individual hot pot. There's also an option of choosing spice level, I end up getting mild and even that there is still a kick. I ordered the kimchi hot soup and already it's very filling by itself. Food was reminiscent of boiling point, maybe slightly below them but pretty good still. It's a safe option if you're looking for personal hot pot. Honestly surprised this place isn't at least 4.3 stars Service was great and attentive, parking is hard but that's just Berkeley. They had a cool skewers deal 10 for $10 which gave you a good variety to pair with the meal. read more

[Pre-COVID Review] This is the next closest thing to Boiling Point Taiwanese hot pot. It is a chain located all over California. The broth seemed really watered down and not flavorful. The wait during dinner time is extremely long and their wait system doesn't seem as efficient. Inside is very busy and feels very narrow and crammed. Been here 3 times now so here's a detailed review Limited street parking so be patient, walking in it's a small restaurant but it's cozy and spacious enough to maintain privacy. I prefer to sit in the upstairs dining area. Also I might be eating this dish wrong because I ask them to not turn the hot burning coals on since I can not eat my food when it's extremely hot in temperature. Typically the fire is suppose to burn and go out itself in time but I don't enjoy eating my food that way ALTHOUGH I realize that is the way it is supposed to be eaten here which is great and I love how different cultures eat there soups.In my opinion these soups have a lot of topping but not enough noodles in even when I ordered extra noodles at an extra charge I still did not feel satisfied with the portion of noodles given for a $30 soup. Ingredients tasted very fresh and soup was delicious. Note that add ons are overly expensive for example $3 for one hard boiled egg. Also add on options are not clear enough so how many dumplings come in one order of an add on is not clear on the menu. Service is always speedy we get our soups within minutes from ordering whether it's busy or not and workers are polite and attentive. FYI all the broths seem to be pork broth and once I tried the Thai option and I was not satisfied with how it tasted very distinctive taste for me but all other broths were extremely tasty! Food was delicious! The food came out fairly quickly and the server would refill our soup whenever it ran low. The soups also came with a lightly sweetened tea that was refreshing with every bite we took. we got the sichuan spicy and taiwanese spicy with a side of their new skewers. both the sichuan spicy and skewers had a prominent numbing spice that we really enjoyed. eating the skewers we're kind of a suprise since we didn't know what was in it when ordering. it was mainly fish balls, sausages, mushrooms and beef wrapped veges. there was around two of each so it's perfect to share. the portions are pretty generous and goes super well with rice. i think the sauces on the table helps bring out the flavor so don't forget to use them! i wish they had more vegetable variety in the pot though. for the taiwan spicy specifically, it came with instant ramen so make sure you don't double order it! service was nice mainly college part timers. usually pretty busy but the wait isn't too bad. we went around 5pm on Sunday and was able to be seated immediately. read more
