We were passing through Redding on our way to Oregon and saw this familiar Bay Area spot in Redding, wife HAD TO try it! For Taiwanese hot pot fans who are familiar with the chain, this lives up to the chain's reputation. The pots ingredients and flavors are authentic, service friendly, restaurant clean, and definitely a great spot for those passing through looking for authentic taiwanese flavors. The popcorn chicken is also surprisingly good -- it LOOKs western (like from Popeye's) but the flavors emulate what you would expect (basil, white pepper). For those unfamiliar, taiwanese hot pot in this variety is single serve hot cooked soup (with an ongoing fire) that you heat at the table. It's a unique ethnic experience, come with an open mind, and be sure to visit the sauce bar to dip items in to your taste. Service was super friendly and interior tables/restrooms clean! read more

I came on a slow evening for dinner with a friend. The staff was incredibly freindly, providing recommendations and constantly checking in on us throughout the meal. We had the Kimchi Dumpling Hot Pot, the Beef Hot Pot, and the Spicy Popcorn Chicken. The Chicken was bomb--Crispt, fresh, and flavorful. The Hot Pot portions were huge (can easily be shared between two), and the flavor was good! Is it the best hot pot I've had? No. Is it a great option for Redding? Absolutely. Tried Tasty Pot since they're new in town and wow, totally worth the hype. From the moment we sat down, the service was AMAZING. Our server was super friendly, checked on us multiple times, refilled our water and soup, and even gave us a recommendation for the popcorn chicken... which was SOOO good. Crispy, flavorful, and honestly addictive. The restaurant itself is big, clean, and spacious, so you don't feel cramped at all, huge plus. We were worried the hotpot would only be enough for one person, but nope! It fed three of us, and we still had leftovers to take home The hotpot soup base was a little bland at first, BUT once we added the side sauces, it completely leveled up. Solid 4/5 for the hotpot. Now let me talk about the SIZZLING POT that thing was PACKED with flavor. Hands down my favorite dish and an easy 5/5. I'd come back just for that. So stoked that Tasty Pot finally opened its doors here in Redding. It's officially the first restaurant of its kind in town, bringing that Taiwanese individual hotpot experience we've been seriously lacking. Before this, you'd have to drive down to Sac or the Bay to get anything similar to this. The setup is pretty neat, unlike traditional communal hotpot, you get your own individual boiling pot with a burner underneath, so you can control your own spice level. The ingredients are fresh, and the broth has that deep, slow-simmered flavor that makes it a perfect comfort meal, especially when it's chilly out. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is modern and energetic. The service was surprisingly fast for a new spot, and everyone was incredibly welcoming. The server with the short hair was very attentive, helpful with the menu, and honestly super cute. Definitely made my visit more memorable. If you're looking for something different in Redding, you have to check this place out. Great food, solid milktea options, and a vibe that this city definitely needed. My husband and I tried the kimchi dumpling hot soup yesterday and it was such a treat! I went back today to pick up the popcorn chicken and calamari, although I had a 15 min drive back home they both held up beautifully and were still crunchy, warm and so delicious! Don't forget to try the thai tea, it was absolutely refreshing and hits the spot. The food was quick to come out and the employees there were so kind and helpful. This place was very nice and decorated warmly. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. My partner ordered the Thai flavored hot soup, and I ordered the Japanese miso soup. The soup is certainly hot not flavor wise, but temperature wise, I was so happy once my flame thing finally burned out and the soup started cooling down so that I could actually enjoy it. I was a bit off put by the raw egg that came out on top of mine until it was cooked in the hot liquid. The service was prompt efficient and friendly. Tastypot is my go-to place for personal hotpot, so I was thrilled that they finally opened a location in Redding. I stopped by during their soft opening and had a great experience overall. I ordered the popcorn chicken and the lamb hotpot (medium spicy) with rice. The popcorn chicken was amazing--hot, crispy, and packed with authentic five-spice flavor, just like the kind you'd find in Taiwan. The lamb hotpot portions were very generous, with a great balance of meat and vegetables. Everything was cooked perfectly, the spice level was just right, and the broth was incredibly flavorful. I usually rely heavily on dipping sauces at other hotpot places, but the broth here was so good that I barely used any sauce at all--which really says a lot. Our table also ordered the pepper beef hotplate rice and the udon. Both dishes came out hot and sizzling. The flavors were spot on, and the udon had an amazing texture--bouncy and perfectly cooked. I had so much food that I saved the rest of my hotplate for the next day, and I was shocked at how fresh it still tasted. The rice was still plump and bouncy, and it honestly tasted like an elevated buttery pepper fried rice--10/10! The service was a bit slow, but it was their soft opening and they were quite busy, which is totally understandable. Once they got to us, the staff were very kind and friendly. The ambiance is clean and welcoming, and the owner mentioned they are still adding more touches as they're just starting out. Servers were very attentive, and food came out hot and fresh pretty fast. We tried the Coconut Lava Balls and Calamari as appetizers. Lava balls were crisp and delicious, and not overly sweet like I was afraid they might be. Calamari was the best in town, with a crisp light texture. I had the Kimchi Dumpling soup (mild spice, though I probably would do medium next time) , and my partner had the Lobster soup. They were delicious, and I think we brought home more than we ate!
