Another day another tata got the street tacos (too eager to take a picture before I almost finished one). Green and red salsas added are so good but the red has it's kick but it compliments so well. Keep hoping this place would improve. Went early on for their breakfast burritos when it first opened and every now n then but no change. Surprised they have lasted this long based on their prices and quality of food. The wait can be slow despite the crowd. The tortillas are too big and greasy. The eegs appear to be made a day before and the same with their meats. They don't add any sauce or green chili to the burros. So the burros are dry and need a lot of the chili added except for the Machaca burros which again add to the greasy tortillas. Aside from their burros the rest of the food must be good to keep them in business or people around the area don't know the difference between good quality Mexican food. General a breakfast burrito is a great indicator of the rest of the food since the same chili sauce is used in their other dishes. read more

I had a craving for breakfast burritos. Unfortunately this left me disappointed. The worker seemed knowledgeable. He helped me decide on an option pretty quickly. The food was done in about 5 minutes. I was in and out really quickly. Inside felt tired and dated. It wasn't dirty, but it could pretty easily be perceived as such. Could use a facelift or at least some fresh paint. The burritos were a little disappointing. They were heavy and full of oil. The potatoes, which were plenty, held onto the oil and kind of made the burritos soggy. They gave me some salsa, that made a difference. Without the salsa, it would have been far more underwhelming. We loved this place for years but the other night we were scammed by an employee. Our food bill was $28 and after a 20% tip our total was $34. The next day we saw they had changed our tip and made our total $44. The food was terrible and not the standard that we had been accustomed to these past ten years. Nothing says neglected more than a filthy establishment and deterioration of food quality. I cannot believe this is the same place I used to love. It's sloppy and run down. I cannot recommend this filthy place to anyone!! The fact that they haven't fixed the AC in the dining room after months of hot summer weather and do not bother to even clean the place gives me the heebie jeebues. I took my food home and was so disappointed that the burrito was lacking fresh flavors. I looked inside to see the potatoes I asked to be added to my food weren't fresh either. After reading the reviews, this place can be a hit or miss and thankfully we came in on a day where the breakfast burritos were good. We ordered three breakfast burritos to go: bacon and chorizo. The burritos are big and there's a lot of food for your money. Our burritos were quite tasty. The filling was full of flavor and it was a nice way to start the day. My experience was based on a drive through order. I ordered a beef burrito and two beef tacos. My first impression looking at the food was good based on the $18 price tag for both. Disappointing. I tried the place twice now and the same result. I went through the drive-thru ordered a shrimp quesadilla and the second time a adobada torta. I wouldn't say the prices are inexpensive for the quality of food you receive. The quesadilla hardly had any shrimp and was primarily cheap filler (rice). The torta hardly had any pork and was primarily cheap filler: refried beans. This is not a smart business premise, creating dishes that are primarily cheap ingredients. I ordered a chicken quesadilla from Tata's and within my first few bites, bit into a piece of metal. My tooth was cracked and required a filling. There is at least one more review of this restaurant stating they had metal in their food as well. Edit: The owner did ultimately refund my order and compensated me for my dentist bill. read more

Great breakfast burritos but some of the other menu items aren't as good. Their horchata is fresh and delicious. The rolled tacos are bland and not worth the money. I will be back for breakfast burritos but probably not for their other items. The service is usually quick but try to catch them when the line isn't too long. Poor signage on the outside of the building and only a couple small signs out front to let you know what it is. There is always a large camper parked in the parking lot which makes me think some of the employees are living out of it. read more

Well I tried to give it a chance and I was disappointed I love most food that will have a tortilla. Someone told me to come but that person only tried breakfast burritos. Red flag no one inside, don't smell any food being cooked,floors tables sticky it was about 615pm on a Monday. I ordered inside to go. I pushed myself to try somewhere new. I ordered cheese casadilla for my lil girl and burrito for my son and whatever carne plate I got. I couldn't believe there was no flavor or salt. I spent $29.00+ for these three. The casadilla looked like bad American cheese.. my kids wanted to put coins in old ass coin machine I should have know better ate his $1 nothing came out.... My food tasted like it was sitting I can smell the gas on my rice felt like they had it siting. My son took two bites and I ate a taco and well it was very much a waste. The young guy working was nice but that really was the only good part of tatas. I've passed this place a bunch of times and never stopped and I wish I didn't this time. We will never go again. I went to TaTas burritos for the second time today. This review has to be broken into two parts. First the food; having just moved here from San Diego I've been in search of a good Mexican restaurant. This place is decent. Their breakfast burritos are pretty good. The street tacos are good if you don't actually know what a street taco is. Their "TaTa's Burrito" was good although mostly packed with refried beans to take up space. The tortillas they use are obviously store bought so that lowers the quality and authenticity of the food quite a bit. But considering we are in the middle of Colorado this is a fairly decent place. Just off the taste of food I would give this place 3 stars Oh don't get the chips and guacamole. The serving size is pathetic for the price. Now the service.... or lack there of. While driving through the drive through the guy on the mic was extremely rude. He is impatient. When I ordered the street tacos his response was "steak." It wasn't until the third time he said it that I realized it was a question and not a statement and he was asking if I wanted steak or another type of meat. As I was ordering for my whole family I had several items to order. After each item he cut me off and said "is that it?" Not finding the side of chips I asked if they had chips and salsa or chips and guacamole. His response, "which one?" After getting through the ordering I went to the window. He took my card without making eye contact or saying anything. He was one of the rudest restaurant workers I've met in a while. The same guy was working the window and acted the same both times. So this is not an isolated incident, this is just how they do business here. Based off the service I would give this place one star. So I met in the middle and gave two stars. All in all it's not a terrible place to get Mexican. But if I find a place within a decent drive that meets the quality and has any sort of customer service I will go there instead Update to my review: I changed to a one star rating because after living here for 4 years I've learned Tatas is a great place to go if you are desperate. My husband and I stopped in here for breakfast after we came to the area for an errand. He got an Adovada pork burrito, a fried "fiesta" taco with chorizo and potato in it with lettuce and cheese inserted after its fried. I got three street tacos. They make you pick the same meat for all 3. I chose Carne Asada. Bad choice! It was super dry and awful. I could only eat one. I got a side of guac and it was very creamy but not unpleasant. Husband said the pork had almost no flavor but the Tortilla was soft and nice. One major gripe, they have sodas in a refrigerator case but they're actually lukewarm! Although service was pleasant, we won't be back again. I seriously regret coming here instead of Dougs Day Diner, which is very close by- however we did both eat for about the price of one entree at most diners, so there's that. It might be a good choice for people on a tight budget--- just use plenty of salsa! read more

My ONLY complaint is that Tata's isn't open late. I stumbled across this place and it is the perfect place to go when you just feel like overloading yourself with greasy food. Let's be real, we've all been there before. I had their shrimp quesadilla and their bacon breakfast burrito and it just was plain comfort food. Yes it may be hella greasy, but what did you expect? Whole Foods? Come on now! All jokes aside, the place isn't the cleanest place in the world, but the food is bomb. Next visit to colorado, I have my eyes on the carne asada fries and the chorizo breakfast burrito. The price is very reasonable and won't break the bank. I'd definitely come here if I was hungover or trying to sober up from a night out. Seriously don't judge a book by its cover, stop in and order whatever will make your heart content. I lived in Arizona for many years and had some great authentic Mexican food. Since then it had been a struggle to find anything like it. I came here one day before work to grab a breakfast burrito, and left with a new favorite restaurant. The burrito was huge! The salsa was flavorful and had some decent heat. I don't eat out as much as I used to but I make sure I come here at least once a month. You won't be disappointed by their street tacos, any of their burritos, or their carne asada fries. To say this places beats Taco Bell is almost an insult. Tatas is so far out of their league it's a completely different sport! UPDATE ... I originally gave 5 stars, and the food is certainly worth 5 stars, but the service is on average 2 stars. The staff on Sunday is fantastic, kind, and genuine. Save yourself the headache of horrible service and go on the weekend. I'd avoid this place like the plague during the week. The staff is rude and curt. I asked what my total was at the window and was met with an eye roll. I paid in cash and was due change which I never received. Granted the change was small, but it was still my change. Even if it's $0.01, it's mine and due to me, then it's my decision to let you keep it, not yours to steal it. If this was a one time thing, I wouldn't care so much, yet this is common during the week. I've had friends recommend another local place near by that I plan to try soon.
