Fast forward many years I'm sitting in downtown Ft Pierce having eclectic tapas. Love it. My wife and I love Tapas. Having gone to Spain right before Covid, we fell in love w them even more. Nelson was our host/waiter. He certainly took care of us. He is a self acclaimed foodie like us. We had two glasses of wine. It's a $20 bottle of wine at $12 a glass. Somewhat normal. I will be picky here as they weren't served in red wine glasses and it was somewhat warm. Small pour too. We had 3 dishes 1. Potatoes Bravas. I found an amazing one in Spain....this was one of the best I've had since that magical dish in Spain. 2. Forget the official name but there were 4 balls consisting of goat cheese, dates, and chorizo over arugula. Taste explosion. Try them! 3. We ordered the meatballs (name on board was was better descriptive) from the local butcher Adam. These took a long time to come out (our dish and others). For $24, and 3 meatballs, we found them small and a bit salty. Acoustic guitar playing all sorts of music outside (and the restaurant doors were open). So this was really nice. I think there could be a bit more 'polish' in the experience as compared to what we have experienced in places like this in Broward. Overall we had a great time and would come again

Classics salty sweet combination made for a great way to open the palate. For the entree, I had the Sriracha Marinated Flat Iron with avocado mashed potatoes. I…read moreeven looked up words like gastrique, panzanella, and fettuccini with philosophical intent to order aggressively since it was his turn for the check . I really just went for the insutution of bacon wrapped dates supervised by my wife and is girlfriend (two different people). The Medjool dates with millionaire bacon and goat cheese and I am not exaggerating when I say this dish could solve international conflicts. Sweet pineapple, salty bacon, creamy goat cheese, and a drizzle of what tasted like the chef whispering sweet nothings the way I'm romantic. I was going to order a second dose for "research purposes." Truffle Honey Chicken Tenders (Not Your Childhood Lunchbox) is the most misleading name ever because "tenders" sounds like something you eat in a drive thru parking lot (I'd pick Bojangles of course). These were crispy, sticky, sweet, slightly spicy, and basically the PhD version of chicken fingers a bit dry but the sauce make it good. Brussels sprouts usually remind people of childhood trauma. These charred brussels sprouts with honey, soy, ginger, and peanuts tasted like the chef personally apologized to every person who had ever been forced to eat boiled vegetables in 1987. Smoky, sticky, crunchy, slightly sweet. I would willingly eat vegetables here again, which is a sentence I never thought I would say out loud! We build a strategy to devide an conquer in a unique waiter (I hate the name server, it sounds like tennis) recommendation that was impressive! My brother ordered the heritage pork chop, which looked like it had been bench pressing in the kitchen before arriving at the table. Perfect crust, juicy inside, sitting on sweet potato hash with a slaw piled on top like a fashionable hat and I went with the snapper catch of th day for a surf and turf combo! I considered banging on the door at 3 am for another dose of pork chop like I was in college and wanted the party to go on My brother was impressed with the Blackbird Arise that showed up like it owned the table. He said it was smooth, bold, and dangerous because it makes you start considering dessert when you absolutely do not need dessert. I don't drink so I take his word for it. The women weren't behaving so thy split a smash burger and truffle fries, which means our ordering strategy was clearly "yes." The burger had that glossy brioche bun that looks like it was polished before serving, and the fries were exactly the kind that disappear before you realize you have eaten most of them. A smash burger is supposed to drip greese down your arm and this didn't. This strategy ensured my spot on the couch for bedtime. If you go, order two doses of the dates so you don't have to bring a date.

The fatty portion of my Prime Rib was excessive. I get that ribeye-style cuts derive flavor from fat, but this was to the point where it overwhelmed the dish and left me wishing I had ordered the lower-cost ribeye instead. On top of that, it came out medium instead of medium-rare, which didn't help. That said, others at the table ordered the NY Strip and Ribeye, and both looked excellent--cooked properly and more in line with what I'd expect from a steakhouse at this level. Highlights of the meal: Brazilian sliders were fantastic--definitely a must-order appetizer Oxtail stroganoff was rich and well executed Mac & cheese was a solid side Cocktails were creative and well made Overall, I've had better steaks at lower price points, but also worse ones at higher-end spots. Based on what I saw from other dishes, I'd absolutely give Ember & Oak another shot--just not with the Prime Rib next time.

Our server was kind enough to bring out a birthday dessert and package our food up for us! I knew the prices before walking in here, so I knew exactly what to expect. Most of the reviews say it's too expensive. It was "expensive" but the prices seemed VERY reasonable for the quality of food and the amount given. Overall, I had a great experience and I will definitely be back!

Well, they were 100% right and I was blown away. Our table of 5 ordered some serious goodies - I just wish we could have eaten more so we could have tried everything on the menu. The bacon wrapped dates were some of the best I've ever had. The whipped cheese with honey was insanely good. The chicken entree was wild -- so tender and flavorful and the potatoes were to die for. We ordered dessert and it was so good and went so fast that we actually ordered a second cake. The food came out super fast and our server was awesome. Honest and fair feedback for the management and chef of the Spanish River Grill…read more I typically leave no review and just move on when I have a disappointing experience. I want restaurants to be successful and am cautious about my criticism, but the person managing the front of the house chose to be condescending rather than understanding when I sent an unacceptable dish back. The positives: We were having a great experience prior to our large plate. Had the mussels which were great, tasty crab cakes, and perfectly prepared calamari. The olive oil cake that we were sent home with (comped) was as good as everyone says. The service was also good until the problem and the Sangria was delish. The Negatives: I was so excited to have the Paella since it's been years since I've had a great one. I've had Paella at 7 or 8 restaurants in the past as well as home prepared so I am not new to the experience. What I dished onto my plate had a little bit of everything. Everything was good not great but the chicken thigh meat was like rubber and the shrimp was overcooked by quite a lot. I don't expect perfection with shrimp. When our server checked on us, I informed them of the poor quality and they quickly said to stop eating and another dish can be brought out. I can only speculate that they have had problems with complaints after a dish has already been eating but that's not us. I never ask for anything to be comped if I am unhappy. My wife didn't want to send it back because it would mean a long wait for another but I didn't want it. Our server told us we need to decide fast and left us to discuss. We did not eat any more and after about 10 minutes the food was taken from the table. They did offer again to make something else. We were very disappointed since it's a 45 minute drive for us but these things happen sometime. Can't win them all. We could have just ended things there and I was prepared to pay the 60 dollars for the Paella (was removed) and move on but the manager came out and lectured me about this being the first complaint about the Paella in 3 years and that she tasted it all and that it was fine. Of the thousands of restaurants I've been to in my life, this was a first. Nobody likes it when they are implicated as a liar. What was a disappointing experience turned into an upsetting one. I hope she was just having a bad day because treating customers that way is not a recipe for success. I like to give businesses a second chance because everyone makes mistakes, and we had planned to meet some friends that live closer to NSB, but I can't imagine that I will now because of that. Perhaps they wouldn't want me back since I am the only person to ever complain about the Paella. Did I insult the chef by doing that?

We enjoy tapas style restaurants as an opportunity to try a variety of small plates to get a feel of what the restaurant offers. We ordered the street corn, sesame steak skewers, and garlic maple chicken wings. The corn and steak skewers (so tender) were delicious, however the wings fell a bit short. They weren't bad, but there wasn't any essence of garlic or maple; more like heavy ginger and citrus. The place feels like a blend of an old Key West bar and a cozy island tavern, with warm wood, nautical touches, and Hemingway memorabilia everywhere you look. It has that relaxed island vibe where you immediately want to sit back, slow down, and enjoy the experience. The food was outstanding. We started with a couple small bites and everything came out hot and perfectly prepared. The croquetas were fantastic, crispy on the outside with a creamy, savory ham filling. The empanadas were golden and flaky with a rich filling and a great dipping sauce. For the main course I went with the Cuban sandwich, and it was excellent. Perfectly pressed bread with just the right crunch, stacked with pork, ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. Exactly what you hope for when ordering a Cuban. Then came dessert, which completely stole the show. The sweet plantain bread pudding was incredible. Warm, rich, and topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. It's one of those desserts where you keep saying "just one more bite" until it's gone. I paired it with a café con leche, which was smooth, bold, and the perfect complement to the sweetness. The service was just as impressive. Friendly, attentive, and relaxed without hovering. Drinks stayed filled, food came out quickly, and the whole meal felt easy and enjoyable. Between the great food, welcoming service, and the unique island tavern atmosphere, Hemingway's is easily one of the best dining spots in the area.
