Im 50/50 on this place. There was no issue with the order or staff. They were quite nice and moved quickly. I will say, they have really good croissants. My issue is actually with the sour coffee. I can't explain it better than that... it tasted sour. Was it a bad brew, or is it normally sour? I'll have to give em another shot, but I live far so when I'm in town I'll try again, but for now... my worst criticism is that the coffee is sour. :( read more

Tatte is a Boston classic! We were looking for a spot with pastries and ended up here since there were Tatte's everywhere we turned in the city lol. I love the vibe of the bakery! We ordered the halva latte, halva brownie, and pistachio croissant. The croissant was a 10/10, the latte and brownie were just okay. I prefer a slightly chewy brownie, and this one was a little too dense for my liking. The halva latte was also just okay; the halva was a bit overwhelming. It was busy on the Sunday we visited; we were looking for a spot to sit and either the tables were filled with dirty dishes or the tables weren't wiped clean very well. read more

This was my first time visiting Tatte Bakery and Cafe. Their pastries are nothing short of perfection. The almond croissant is flaky, buttery, and just the right amount of sweet. Everything in this place was great, especially the people! I thought they did such a phenomenal job I asked their names specifically so I could write a review! As soon as we opened the door Susan greeted us with an extremely happy demeanor (even while she was doing something else). By the time we got to the register Marc helped us choose what to eat, a line had suddenly appeared behind us and he didn't even slightly rush us, instead he took the time to better explain and even give his recommendation on what to eat (the Sweet- French Toast, if you were wondering). We ended up sitting on the other side of the front/bar and throughout the meal the two of them would interact and speak to us! Susan was smiling and nice everytime she would walk by, suggesting things to do in the area. Marc was checking in with us each time he turned around to work on something. The entire time, they had a hectic line, but everytime they were working on something they also would use that same time to interact with others and create a great experience. Btw- food and drinks were fantastic, I'm just surprised how much better the experience was thanks to these two. Love this cute place! If anyone ever asks for a cafe or light lunch or daytime date spot I would say this place is a safe choice. This is the first place I stopped at aftet the airport and what a gem. I love shakshuka so I was very pleased to see it listed and it's a great portion. The staff is friendly and it's got a lot of space. That being said it is popular so it does get busy and crowded depending on time of day you're there and what day. There are multiple locations and this was the first one I've ever been to. If I worked locally I'd probably make this a frequent lunch spot or even just a break spot for a snack even. This isn't a chain that expands to where I live so I will always make sure to visit one of them when I'm around here because I know it'll be good and love baked goods. I may be being a bit too tough, but the girl behind the counter couldn't tell me if a drink had espresso in it and I had to get up to get my drink instead of it being brought to me. Maybe they were waiting for the tartine to be done so they could bring it all out together. On that note, after thinking about it while typing this, I'll change it to 5 stars. My friend and I visited downtown Boston for the weekend, and our hotel was right next to this Tatte location. We were so pleased with the food we went here 2 days in a row for brunch and coffee! On the 2nd day, the cashier got my latte wrong, but one of the employees (bald guy) was quick at correcting my drink and making sure I was satisfied. There's just something so wholesome about the ambiance of this bakery/cafe that you want to try something new on their menu each time you visit. I come here on occasion for a coffee and a sweet treat. On weekdays it's usually pretty easy to find a cozy spot to hang out. On the weekends/holidays it does get crowded, but it's got enough tables that generally something opens up pretty quickly. Service is always good. My thoughts on what I've tried: The roasted strawberry tea cake ($3.50?): a surprise delight! I expected it to be just a plain vanilla cake but it had a lovely rich almond-y flavor. Mini lemon tart (7.50): very meh. The meringue was oddly gritty, like the sugar had not dissolved, and there wasn't enough lemon flavor to balance out the cloying sweetness. Definitely not worth the steep price. Tiramisu ($7.50): yummy. Wish it had a stronger coffee flavor but still very pleasant. The coffee: nothing to write home about but not bad either. Overall: a tad overpriced but this is Boston after all. Lots of options for an afternoon pick me up with a decent cup of coffee. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I'm really disappointed with my experience this morning. I stopped in around 7am for a latte -- I usually make my own at home but was in a pinch. When I looked toward the bar after ordering, I noticed several cups of pre-brewed espresso just sitting on the machine. Sure enough, my drink tasted exactly like it came from one of those -- flat, bitter, and burnt from overheated milk. It's really frustrating to spend over six dollars on a small coffee that tastes like old espresso, especially when there was no line and plenty of time to make it fresh. Espresso starts to lose its flavor within minutes, and any barista should know that. I don't usually leave reviews, but I wanted to mention this because I genuinely like supporting local coffee shops -- I just expect a little more care and quality for the price. read more

I love this bakery. We basically stopped for just a coffee, tea and croissants. They offer much more than this. If you want a full breakfast, you can just order of their menu and it is good. The pistachio latte was delicious, no complaints. However this giant piece of carrot cake was really disappointing -- it wasn't moist at all and tasted as if it had been out for a long time. My friends also got food and they seemed very "eh" with their orders. The avocado toast my friend got was $15 and really small portion, the other friend has to get her eggs re-made. Overall, Tatte has never really wowed me. The pastries looked really delicious but after this carrot cake (which is usually my favorite thing to get), I don't think I'd want to buy any other pastry from here. The store was pretty though. Food: Tatte is easily my favorite brunch/cafe spot in Boston. I always make it a priority to visit once each time I have a trip to Boston. Surprisingly one of the few places I don't open Yelp for, to view photos of menu items before ordering! I'm super trusting of all menu items here and it's also the only place where I've gotten different dishes each time I visit. Ambiance: This location was one of the more spacious Tattes I've visited. Tables were incredible spread out and there was rarely any foot traffic during high peaks. Came here for a long study afternoon and found some access to outlets close to the water station. I go to Tatte regularly, and they are very consistent! My go-to is their house latte because of its bold, sweet flavors with hint of nuttiness. I also love their shakshuka, although I do prefer the traditional over the one with lamb which I thought tasted a bit gamey! The challah bread could've also been toasted more as well. I frequent tatte often (specifically this location) because I live and work a few blocks away. It's always been a reliable place for good coffee and food, quick service, worthwhile for the price, and great ambience. I've consistently been going at least once a week for the last few years. I do feel like the quality is going downhill. I've always loved the tatte latte and coffee. But I found that ever since they changed from the stumptown brew to their own tatte roast this past summer, the quality is often poor and sometimes tastes very burnt as if it were not roasted/brewed properly. I miss the old stuff! What really spurred me to write this review was today I had a lamb plate for lunch and came down with terrible food poisoning. I probably learned my lesson about eating items that are less popular on the menu. The upsides are that the staff is always kind, the ambience and temperature always good, and there is ample seating, outlets and light. I just hope that Tatte maintains the same quality it had back when it a local Boston spot! read more

Let's start off by saying I love the staff at this Tatte almost as much as I love the drinks. The service is quick and amiable. The vanilla latte used oat milk and provides layers of flavor with a sweet outer shell, a creamy middle and a roasted finish. The rhubarb and herbed seltzer however, is something that I would come back for again and again. Minty and sweet, it's the perfect summer drink. Please come and try it you won't leave disappointed! I shied away from Tatte for a long time out of blind bias against chain cafes and old school loyalty to Flour Bakery but it turns out that Tatte has thrived for the best reason - it's actually very good! They have an excellent selection of breakfast and lunch options, including standard breakfast fare, sandwiches, salads, and more substantive plates. Some of my favorite sandwiches - all on house-made breads - are the turkey avocado, the chicken pita, and the roasted salmon. They have a great coffee bar with all the standards as well as more interesting specials like black sesame, honey halva, and pistachio lattes. The cafe spaces are bright, clean and attractive with a Parisian aesthetic - no surprise they're a hot destination for laptop workers - and service is fast and reliable. The baked goods are solid though less notable in my experience compared to the savory menu. It's not fine dining but five stars for being one of the best fast-casual restaurant options in Boston, regardless of chain status! read more

I've eaten at a Targe before and the food was always so good. Came to breakfast here this morning and ordered scrambled eggs with goat cheese and tomato. When I asked for croissant instead of sour bread I was told NO! I had to explain I would pay for it and the cashier winced at me. The pistachio latte I ordered as cold. The eggs were cold and runny and the mixture of cold goat cheese spread with watery sun friend tomatoes is something they may want to co sister taking off the menu. read more
