They have a great selection of breakfast dishes and pastries. I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich, and the croissant was everything you hope for, perfectly buttery, flaky, and crisp. The tomatoes tasted like they had just been picked from a garden, adding such a fresh flavor. I also grabbed an iced vanilla latte to go, and it was just as delicious. I visited around 10:30 a.m., and while there was a small line, it moved quickly. Tatte is apparently a well known Boston institution, so I had to go again. Last time I visited, I remember picking up some pastries to go, but this time I definitely wanted the sit down experience. You grab a menu, order at the register, and bring your number to an open table. The waiters find and bring the food to you. Water cups, napkins, utensils are all self serve. - Savory French Toast, (4/5): concept sounded super interesting. the toast itself was dense, fluffy and slightly sweet. there was definitely more toasts than any other savory ingredients, but I felt the cheese eggs were nice. - Lamb Hash, (4.75/5): super flavorful lamb. it wasn't too gamey, and I liked eating it with the toast. tasted so fresh and I didn't feel heavy after eating it It's such a unique chain, with many variations on classic breakfasts and lunches. The bright white interior with its steel, stone, and faux marble design was beautiful, spotless, and refreshingly cool. It was the perfect escape from the summer heat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For lunch, we ordered the Turkey Avocado Sandwich, the B.L.A.T., the tomato and cheese focaccia, and an iced chai latte. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and filling. You can definitely tell they use high quality ingredients. The service was great. You order, take and number and then your food is brought to you. Our only small complaint is that there isn't a kids menu, and the food options for younger children are somewhat limited. Thankfully, the chocolate chip cookies were absolutely delicious and were a big hit with our kids. Delicious! My daughter ordered the grilled cheese (I believe with sun dried tomatoes and capers?) and I had one of the tastiest chicken salad sandwiches EVER. The green herb dressing was delicious. You order at the counter and find a seat and your food is brought out to you. Tatte is pretty consistently a quality option as far as cafes go, so it's no surprise that my pastry and chai latte were delicious. The pastry had a nice balance of fruit and bread, and the textures were really interesting; crispy in parts, chewy in others, and tasty throughout. And the chai latte tasted great, the spices came through without being drowned out by sugar. Full transparency here: I was a little concerned when my lamb kebab plate came out because it looked really bland. I'm happy I actually tried it before giving a final judgment because I ended up really liking it and ultimately ate the plate clean. I also ordered the ice pistachio latte and I could tell by the color that it wasn't going to hit for me, and I was correct. So, after our walk through the Public Garden and around the Boylston neighborhood we made this Tatte (there are 20 or so around town) our stop for a coffee and a snack. The shop was a beehive of activity with plenty of worker bees filling drink and food orders, a steady stream of customers, a crowded dining room, and plenty of amazing food in the showcase and on the counter as we inched our way to the ordering station. Their menu and showcases entice you with some great looking comforting food and drink from their scratch kitchen and coffee bar. You can satisfy appetites of all size with their selections of breakfast/brunch orders, sandwiches, soups, shakshuka egg plates, bowls, and Grab & Go items to take to your next destination or eat in their dining room. Their bakery cranks out some gorgeous delicacies - pastries, brownies, cookies, cakes, desserts, and breads. And of course, what good is a coffee shop without coffee? You can wet your whistle with around 55 choices in the drip coffee, espresso, iced espresso, hot and iced tea, lattes, milk, juice, and sparkling drink families of beverages. We were between meals and just wanted a light pick-me-up, so we ordered accordingly. Our drinks were a 12-ounce drip coffee and a 12-ounce iced blood orange Hibiscus tea, each were $3.85. Our snacks were a Morning Bun pastry ($4.50) and a gorgeous slice of Tomato and Mozzarella Flatbread ($5.50) that really grabbed my attention as we were working our way down the ordering line. Our food and drink were excellent. I enjoyed the subtle flavorings of my iced tea, and man oh man, was that flatbread a winner! And look at the pricing- very reasonable for a spot in the tourist center of one of America's biggest tourist cities. Our friends were right - Tatte is a wonderful place. read more

I remember getting the BLAT sandwich and it was better than the average sandwich but it wasn't superior. I felt like each time I went, it got a bit worse. It varies according to who's working there that day I felt like. One time, they switched out the casual bread without letting me know what I think. Another time, my grandma's soup was served cool so she sent it back and it was a huge mistake. When they brought it back, it was like a fire. It burned her mouth and her mouth was sore for a whole week. It felt like a fire in her mouth. I felt like the workers didn't care and was like "let's show her what hot is." Seriously. I stopped in for a little afternoon snack and was hoping to also get a drink, but the one I wanted it was out of stock at the time so I settled on the lemon poppyseed cake/loaf and the chocolate cookie sandwich. Whenever I am back in Boston, whether it is for work or pleasure, I absolutely am thrilled when I have the opportunity to come to Tatte. Luckily, this particular location was within walking distance of my hotel so I frequented it pretty much every day while I was there for a week. Tatte serves up some of the most delicious breakfast options, freshest pastries, and fantastic coffee. I tried one of their seasonal lattes while I was there, and it was divine. Apparently it's no secret because there was a pretty long line when we got there on a Saturday morning. But don't get discouraged because it moves fairly quickly and the staff seems to know what they're doing. They have lots of delicious baked goods to choose from and all the fancy coffees. I got the almond croissant and it was among the best I've had. The next day I actually went back and picked up a pistachio croissant, which I never had before but was also delicious. The people I was with also enjoyed it and the local people I was with said they go all the time. The prices were fair considering quality and location. I searched nearby cafes in search of coffee with clean aesthetics and Tatte delivered! The inside is beautiful and clean! This place was packed no matter what time of day with a line wrapped around the pastry counter but there were a lot of seating options. I ordered the halloumi sunny side breakfast sandwich and the halloumi was so good! I definitely would have liked it with a meat as well but it was good! I ordered the black sesame latte on my first visit. I loved the flavor but was not expecting it to be grainy in texture. My second visit I ordered the house latte with a honey-halva & cardamom flavor. I think I liked the black sesame latte more but both were good! There's an option to add sausage so we did. The regular breakfast sandwich on sour dough is not really anything to write home about. It's rather plain and lacking any kind of sauce. Not the cheapest place you can go for lunch but the quality is unmatched in my opinion. The pastries are extraordinary too so definitely treat yourself to something sweet for dessert! Seeing that this is a popular chain cafe in the Boston area, my expectations were not the highest. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the coffee and meals ordered. There was essentially no line, however this was around mid-afternoon on a weekday. Decor was up to par, however it was quite noisy due to materials used in the construction of its interior. We started with iced lattes (black sesame and pistachio), both of which were rich in their respectively flavors. The black sesame latte was loaded with finely ground sesame. Within 10 minutes, we received our meals - traditional shakshuka and short rib and eggplant couscous bowl. Both dishes were plentiful and delicious. The shakshuka came with 3 large slices of sour dough bread and the bowl came with a large chunk of well braised short rib and large helping of couscous. Tatte will be in my list of places to revisit for a quick bite and coffee in the future. read more

Tatte is a popular cafe with multiple locations throughout Boston. Expect long lines and large crowds during lunch and dinner time. This location is very convenient since it's next to Boston Commons and a T stop. Come here if you want a quick sit down meal, a cup of Joe, or a reliably good take out lunch. I highly recommend the roasted cauliflower sandwich (healthy, but delicious and very flavorful and the sauce is to die for) and the lamb hash (tender meat and the vegetables were cooked perfectly). I don't recommend the prosciutto & fig panini, it was an interesting concept, but the fig's sweetness didn't pair well with the meat for me. For dessert, they have a lot of pastries to pick from, but I especially recommend the Petit Mixed Nut Box which comes with almonds, pistachio, cashews, and more that's topped with caramel and served in an edible container! For coffee, the pistachio latte is a must try if you love pistachios. Despite the long lines, they move quicky and I got my food in 5-10 minutes. There is usually a seating spot available since people come and go. They have multiple unisex bathrooms available that were clean and tidy. The staff were friendly. read more
