Came down to New Orleans and was set on getting another tattoo while I was here. Other shops I went into weren't really helpful & this shop was only a few minutes away from where I was staying. The tattoos here are done with the cheapest ink out there. I've had 2 tattoos done here and the black came out grey, hasn't even been a year since I've got them. The place itself is unsanitary and smells like marijuana. Yea their prices are cheap but you get what you pay for. Might as well go get one done in a garage. I had a spider web done here and the tattoo artist tattooed it on upside down. I've had to get all the tattoos that I got done here redone at another shop (lucky 13 tattoos) because of the cheap ink that faded away so quickly. Evidently they do not have the best tattooers if most of them had been turned down by other local tattoo shops. One of the artists actually stopped tattooing me so "it" could go meet up with dealer. P.S. Most if not all of the people that give them high ratings either work or are good friends with the shop. read more

Mo did my, my Sis., and my neices' nose piercing last night. I am sooo pleased at the end result. I have wanted it for some time, so the discomfort was worth the result. We were allowed to be in the room together for support which was helpful because I was really nervous while waiting my turn. Mo was patient and answered all of our questions without hesitation. Went with some friends a couple of days after the New Year for a group session of tattoos and piercings. There was a promotion going on and we arrived early to make sure our whole group could be accommodated. When we got there they were not open and we had to call around to figure out when someone could come and open the shop. In the meantime several other groups came and went because the business wasn't open and they didn't know when it would be. We counted hundreds of dollars coming and then leaving because of this. We were determined so we stuck around and finally someone came and we got our services. As for how business was done (after it finally opened) I would say it was quick, sanitary and professional. Everyone in our party was satisfied. I got a nose ring and I was nervous. He (forgot his name) explained the process, put me at ease, did it very quickly and gave me good aftercare instructions. If I could offer a business tip it would be that they should consider having a retail section where folks can buy after care materials for tats or piercings and jewelry. It would make it easier for the customer and provide the business with another revenue stream. Consistency around business hours is a must (and the reason for 1 less star) but it was a good experience and I recommend. read more

The only reason I gave this tattoo parlor four stars rather than five is because of the cleanliness of the shop. It's not that it's dirty, it's just not "hospital sterile," like I prefer my tattoo shops. now, the cleanliness of the procedures themselves definitely get a five star rating. Plus, the staff is great. Many of them are funny, unique, easy to talk to, etc. Taz himself is kind of quiet and seemingly shy, but he's great at what he does, and he is a total sweetheart. I got my third holes in my ears as well as a lip piercing done by a girl there, whose name I cannot remember unfortunately. she did great, except the bar she used for my lip was a little too short, so I had to go back and get Taz to change it into a longer bar to allow swelling, which he did for free of course. A couple of months later, I went back and Taz did my anti-tragus piercing on one year, and a rook piercing on my other ear. apparently I was the toughest rock piercing he had ever done because my cartilage in that area of my ear is so thick, but he made it work. he is the first piercer/artist to tell me that getting an industrial piercing is possible. With that being said, it proves that he's not afraid of a challenge, which I respect greatly. it's a cool shop on the West Bank. Though I'm not familiar with many other West Bank shops, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone for basic work. I cannot speak for the actual artistry of the tattoo artists, since I have not been tattooed there, but in general, Tattoos by Taz is a great shop, with cool employees, great prices, awesome customer service and a really great/sweet owner. Edit: I went back because I lost the ball for one of my tragus piercings, and they were able to give me a new one for a fair price. i was expecting to have to pay at least $10-$15, but i didn't. they were very nice about it, and even though they were busy, the same girl who pierced me was kind enough to take the time to put the ball back on my bar for me. (it's tough to get it myself.) -Prices are low to moderate. -They do special deals on pairs of piercings. -There are portfolios for each artist. -I don't believe they sell much, if any jewelry for piercings. I'm not 100% on that though. -The location has a huge parking lot. -The shop is on the second floor, up a flight of stairs located outside the building. -There are poles to which you can tie up bikes. - There is an ATM inside. read more

Anytime you pay 30 dollars for a tattoo that another shop said would cost 100 I have to wonder why. Now I know. Tattoos by taz ruined my fantasy about the tattoo I wanted and now I have something permanently on my skin that I hate. I just wanted a name simple script in black on my rib. The artist stated how she didn't like doing name tattoos how people always come back for cover ups what ever. I asked if even tho she didn't like my idea if she would still make it look good she said yes but she lied. She recommended I get red ink because it's easier to cover so now that I'm nervous I trusted her and got the red. My rib just looks like scratches and the red already looks faded on my skin. it's not pretty and it's not at all what I wanted and she made me feel so bad about the name. I didn't enjoy this experience the artist made me very uncomfortable about what I wanted and I'm filled with much regret not because of the name but because the tattoo looks so bad I'm ashamed for my boyfriend to see his name like this. I hope he doesn't notice it before it can heal and I can get over to Pigment tattoo shop and pray somebody there can fix it. read more

Chickened out on the piercing, however on my next trip I will definitely visit Taz & Mo. Me and the girls (girls trip) were in NOLA for Essence and decided to get a piercing @ least 1 of us did, after going to Black Ink and they were not servicing in that manner they highly recommended Taz and I'm glad they did. These guys are amazing, friendly, funny, professional and just down right cool people. See y'all on the next trip. read more

3239 gentilly was the worst! My sister and I were trying to decide on which tattoo to get. This was my first tattoo so I was bit indecisive....Will (the tattoo artist) was very rude and impatient! He made unprofessional comments and proceeded to tell his coworker "they better hurry up and figure it out!" and had an attitude. He didn't even try to help us. My friend went ahead and allowed him to do her tattoo... during the tattoo the power goes out! He finishes the tattoo but doesn't even clean her up before wrapping her up. He was in such a hurry to get out (the shop had only been open all of ten mins) My sister and I had already paid before getting the tattoo but now that the power was out we weren't getting it. We agreed to go to the other location 3767 general... MOE WAS THE BEST. He listened to our concerns and even staged he would let the owner know how unprofessional will and the lady with the orange hair were. He was patient and even drew up a tattoo for us to complete what we wanted. He was friendly, gentle, and Down to earth! I gave three stars solely because of MOE.
