Beautiful and very comfortable setting. Waitstaff was quick and kind, for the most part. Bar tenders were rather snobby for reasons I couldn't figure out. We came as a very large group, about 25 people, and most of us orders just drinks and apps. The food was good and were respectful sizes for apps. They have a valet service, which is helpful. I got the Crab BLT with sweet potato "fries." I wouldn't consider the sweet potatoes as fries. They were super large. The water actually tasted of good water, not dirty water like many restaurants in the area. My boyfriend got the short rib grilled cheese with a side salad that had the best tomatoes. They did get his order wrong at first, however they were so quick to correct the mistake, and gave us a free dessert, that I am still giving them 5 stars. I will definitely be back. Had lunch here Monday after spending 3 hours at Patriots Point walking around the ships. Had a nice bottle of wine, decent wine list. We did the smoked chicken wings and tempura shrimp for apps. Both were very good. The white bbq sauce that came with the wings was awesome! I had the special soup, a cold tomato bisque, and a side salad. The soup was really full of flavor and serving it cold was perfect on a warm muggy day! My wife had the beet salad with goat cheese and really enjoyed it. The service was also terrible as we didn't receive things we ordered, drinks didn't get refilled often, and the wait for our food was much longer than it should have been. The first question when someone orders a glass of wine is NOT, how will you pay for it? In addition. your cocktails are amateur and not good. I would rework the entire list unless you want to feel like a college bar. The menu was interesting, but FULL of pork. In addition, there were some very interesting choices but the layout didn't make sense to me. I got the Kale and Brussel sprout salad, which was very tasty. My friend got the steak salad, there was no salad. It was a beautiful arrangement of items, very well done, but perhaps marketed incorrectly. You have a wonderful opportunity to be a great spot, but your staff from the hostess station to the bar needs training on how to treat, greet and serve customers. Do this well, and no one in Mt. We made a reservation for Sunday Easter Brunch. We got there a little early and went to the dock after checking in. I asked for the house White wine gave the waiter a $20 he came back with $9. Finally got seated 30 min after our reservations with a half empty restaurant the menu was "Brunch Only". A very limited selection maybe 8-10 items at most to choose from. I've been to Tavern & Table four times--January 2017, Halloween 2017, last month and this past Friday. I've had the Southwest Steak Salad all four times (combination of having a gluten allergy and being a creature of habit) and it's been consistently good. I had drinks two of those times, and they were also very good. Up until Friday, I had great experiences both at the bar (January 2017) and with table service. This past Friday, I took my brother and sister-in-law to Tavern & Table. They appreciate good food and drinks and loved what was on the menu, and I knew they would like the atmosphere. They were in from Boston and we weren't sure if their flight would land on time, so we didn't make reservations. But we got three seats at the bar and decided we would eat there. My sister-in-law and I ordered drinks from a nice a bartender (didn't catch his name). My brother had stepped away, so he ordered his drink when he came back, from a different bartender. I didn't get his name either, but he had dark hair and was not friendly at all. My brother ordered a glass of wine and the bartender just looked at him, then said "Which one?" My brother repeated it and I know he said the name correctly because he speaks Italian (and it honestly wasn't a hard one to pronounce anyway). The bartender said "I don't know what you're talking about," then gave my brother the menu. My brother opened it up and pointed to it--it was the first one listed under Red Wines. The bartender rudely said "Oh, the one no one ever gets. I've been here for five months and no one has ever ordered that." He didn't say "Oh sorry, I don't get a lot of orders for that one" or anything that would have been even a little bit nice. My brother is the most polite, understanding, laid-back person in the world, so he just smiled. I was ready to brush it off as a fluke and thought maybe we just didn't get his sense of humor, but that wasn't it. We ordered the Cheese & Charcuterie Plate and Deep Fried Deviled Eggs for appetizers. My brother and sister-in-law loved both. My brother was interested in the Whole Fish for his entrée, so he asked that bartender what that fish of the day was. The bartender didn't know, so he had to ask another bartender. He then told my brother what it was, but my brother hadn't heard of it, so he said "What is that like?" I've worked in restaurants before and it's not rare for a customer to ask what a certain fish is like if it's not a super well known one. The bartender responded to my brother's question with "It's a fish. With eyes. And gills. And it swims in the water." Then he just stared at my brother. My jaw dropped. I have no idea why he was being so rude. My brother was not drunk, or loud or causing any type of problem. Another bartender jumped in and said to my brother "It's like a snapper." My brother said "Thank you," because that's all he was looking for. I was so angry that the rude bartender (I really wish I knew his name!) spoke to my brother like that. I ordered my food from the bartender who answered my brother's question because I didn't want to be spoken to rudely by the other bartender. I am, you see, not quite as nice or patient as my brother is in that type of situation. I had planned this dinner at Tavern & Table weeks ago and was really looking forward to bringing my brother and sister-in-law there because I thought they would love it. I was also excited to bring them out in Charleston in general. I always talk about how nice people are here, and how the servers and bartenders I come across are so friendly and knowledgeable. This was the first restaurant I took my brother and sister-in-law to during their Charleston visit, which made our experience with that bartender extra disappointing and upsetting. I'm giving two stars because the food was good and other than once being given the wrong take-home bag, I've previously always had great experiences at Tavern & Table. But after our experience with the rudest bartender south of the Mason-Dixon line, I'm not sure I'll go back there. read more

Went for lunch, all small plates selected. Dishes were sizable, but felt I was in a Chinese restaurant. Salty/sweet was over the top. The oysters had a sauce that totally took out the flavor of them. The chicken skin tacos were sickly sweet sauced. The pork belly steam buns were good. The mac & cheese had under cooked pasta, no cheese flavor, just a hunk of stringy short ribs with a sweet b-b-q sauce...bad. The sweetbreads with lettuce cups were tough and tasteless with a soy sauce and serrano peppers. The lettuce was almost chopped up so impossible to roll them in it. .all the dishes were served at almost room temp. except the mac & cheese. Lunch Edition: they have a nice lunch menu, and this is a great location to come on a sunny day for some afternoon eats. Much of the full menu is still available, just an addition of some really tempting sandwiches. I was a fan for dinner and I am a fan for lunch. My Cubano was a slam dunk. I thought I had the best Cuban in Miami (see my review for Las Olas Café) and while that was far more traditional, this one tops it (just better quality meats, pickles and mustard). I will say the BLT salad is a good idea, but needs some tweaking on the execution. The cold pork belly was a little surprising, though I am not sure what I expected in the first place, however the result is a dry chunk of meat. The pickled green tomato quarters are dense and literally hard to swallow as well. There has got to be a better way to execute this dish that doesn't leave your jaw sore. However, I really like it here and can't wait to come back and try more food because they really do a great job. read more

2+ stars. 30's crowd. Beautiful new place on shem creek. One large bar indoors, one outside and a small bar with a pizza oven. Bartenders were great, never had to wait for a drink. Then things took a turn for the worst when we were seated to have dinner. We were in the dining room across from the bar and for some reason the tables against the wall were extremely loud while the ones closest to the bar were not. All the tables are loud in the bar area but if you are against the wall forget about talking. To start our table ordered- *country biscuit. It was stone hard and came with some kind of congealed jelly/cream cheese mass. It was so hard we sent it back. *Brussel Sprouts, basically the sprouts loaded with cheese on top and broiled. 1 out of the 4 diners liked this. * Shrimp Beignets, we all liked these but 10.00 for 3 small beignets was a bit pricey. *Steam buns. The inside was pork belly and tasty but the outside was raw dough. And the raw dough was hard. Not good. *Fig and Proscuitto flat bread. This was actually very good. Although, I am not sure how any kitchen could mess this up. * Red Curry Clams... All I can say for these is RUN. Don't eat them. I had two and immediately tasted metal in my mouth and refused to eat any more of them. They were left on the table. The bread that came with them was either the flat bread they use for the 'pizza' or just something hanging around the kitchen. It was so stale and thin that even dropping it into the vile broth could not soften them up. Lastly, 3 diners ordered double cheeseburgers. The server never asked how we wanted them cooked and we didnt think to ask, (dumb) 2 of the burgers were so burnt that they crumbled when we tried to eat them and the 3rd was completely raw. When I say raw, I mean the plate was swimming in burger blood. It was so bad that the manager came out and apologized to us. They also serve fries in duck fat with the burgers, but what we got was shoestring from a bag and again totally stale. ** Food zero stars ** Hostess at the front 5 stars ** Bartenders 5 stars ** Server 3 stars, she tried but didnt know the menu, didnt ask us how we wanted our burgers cooked and was gone for most of the time. ** Valet 0 stars they werent parking cars as they were eating two large subs when we pulled up and didnt even look at us. ** Manager 3 stars for coming out to apologize to us and taking 2 things off of our bill. But he should be looking at what the heck the kitchen is sending out. Overall, I would definitely go back for drinks and maybe a flat bread. Great location and view of the water. This was the first time I've gone to Tavern and Table, which I really enjoyed. For dinner, I had a cheese plate that was large enough to feed 5 people for a 1st course. The selections of cheese were simply delicious and paired well with the spicy Jam. For my main course I had the Turkey burger, which sounds simple. However, with the guac and spicy mustard I put on it, the burger was amazing. This place has great potential but needs some work to get there. Great location on Shem Creek, beautiful inside & great bar/patio outside. The service and possibly the kitchen needs some training. Waitress was nice enough but had to be asked multiple times for simple stuff like a missed drink. The appetizers came out quickly - Brussels sprouts were really good but covered in an unnecessary cream sauce), Crab dip was just so-so. Then we waited for 30+ minutes for entrees. When they came, they were lukewarm. Lukewarm burrata is not good! So we sent most of it back for replacement dishes. We may have ordered poorly, but everything was so heavy. Cream sauce on Brussels sprouts is unnecessary, cream sauce on pizza with andouille, burrata (which by definition has cream, I know!). The pork belly with poutine & cheese curds & gnocchi was a gut bomb! The gnocchi were good but the pork did not appear or taste Ike pork belly. The first bit of pork was so gross, it turned me off of the dish. It taste like an old, really bad cut of pork. Cocktails were good - the mule with blackberry was great. Tried the s'more cupcake & it just was not to our liking. Underwhelmed. I'm not sure why this place has gotten such rave reviews. The decor and space is outstanding! My friend ordered a burger, and the bread just fell apart immediately. It came with dipping sauce which also aided in the crumbling process. The ground beef was unseasoned and dry. I ordered the steak salad, which, consider yourself warned, comes with a handful of lettuce and a plate full of toppings-bizarre. The server was amazingly kind but service was slow. We had to ask for boxes ourselves, as well as the check. This restaurant has a gorgeous view, with amazing views, but the food was incompatible with the ambience and the prices. We got to T&T and were seated outside (it's cold y'all), the first people on the deck. Our table of five ordered sensibly off of the snack and small plates menu. 6 tables of people were seated and served and after an hour had passed, we finally received our food. I'm almost positive that the table next to us got two of our appetizers since they ordered the same thing and several of our dishes were just lukewarm. And I'm pretty sure our waiter knew that because he seemed to dodge our table. I've been here many times and never had this problem. The food is very tasty, but if it takes an hour of unapologetic waiting to get an appetizer, it tends to lose its flavor. Somewhat new restaurant in the Shem Creek area of Mount Pleasant. Just like the Red's and Water's Edge, really nice place for a drink and view of the creek. They offer a wide range of drink choices. I normally go with an old fashion, and their version is average. I have eaten at T&T twice and that's where they lose me. Food is okay, pricing is a tad much for what they offer. I've had the burger (average, $16), onion dip (decent, $9) and various other appetizers ($7-12). Mac & Cheese is good, pimento also okay. I was in the mood for their ribeye, but pretty sure it's $45, which is real steakhouse pricing. Overall, not a bad place for a drink outside, not sure I'll choose T&T for dinner again. read more

I got my order and just didn't really expect it compared to what I read on the menu. I got the toad in the hole and it was okay but not very fulfilling. We (party of 5) made reservations online (which I am a big fan of!) and were taken straight to our table when we arrived. We had three appetizers and they were pretty good. Lobster wontons were the best thing we had the entire meal! Pimento cheese with bacon jam was good but wasn't a huge fan of the sweetness of the bacon jam. Deviled egg trio was good, not great.... But good. For our meals we got duck meatloaf which was very good - by far the best entree we had. 2 folks got the butchers cut burger and they were good. However they come with a sauce and a spread that have a sweetness that neither person cared for. One person got the double double burger and it was not good. Over cooked the beef and the bum was stale and hard on top. I had the burnt ends mac and cheese and did not care for it. The mac and cheese sauce had very little flavor and again the meat had a very sweet flavor that I did not feel fit the dish at all. Overall I was pretty disappointed. The place looks great and we need something like that on the creek. But I was disappointed in the food and thought it was a bit pricey for what you got. I assume no fault of the restaurant, the beautiful water view is blocked by dredging/construction machinery. But it was a lot less noisy. We sat down on the only available lounge chairs. The coffee table height table was still wet from the last group. The server came over to give us menus and he just sat them in the wet puddles. Gross! He never did wipe the table off. He had a uncaring attitude and seemed barely there so we decided this was going to be a "less than" experience. (And it was!) We decided that we would just order drinks and a few appetizers and just go somewhere else for dinner. We had to ask for silverware and saucers. The drinks were fine and the food was just okay. Over Labor Day weekend my husband, mother in-law and I wanted to try out Tavern & Table. The weather was perfect to sit outside and look over the water. We arrived while they were still serving there small plates. We decided to split Pimiento Cheese & Bacon Jam along with Prosciutto & Fig Flatbread. Both great for sharing and very good. Once they switched over the menus we had to try to Deep Fried Deviled Eggs...those are really what won me over. We were all very full from those dishes and our cocktails we didn't have room for actual entrees. I can't wait to go back and try more delicious food from their menu. read more

I wasn't very impressed with the service. 2 people at our table received their food about 20minutes before the rest of us. I understand that things happen and Someone came by and offered to comp a carafe of mimosas but when the bills came we found out that they comped a carafe from the bar which had already been paid for at the bar. So it didn't appear that we got that comp at all, even if we did the comp was on someone's bill that got their food before everyone else. We also ordered a starter that described it as breads and pastries...there were 2 muffins on the plate, so that was a little misleading. When we finally did get our food it was pretty good, but there are many other places like it where I know I can go and get good food and service. read more
