1. Staff very inexperienced - server offered raw carrots to my 13 month old after we turned away asparagus!! 2. Expensive duck meatloaf burnt on top - who is overseeing the food prep? My expectations were high. 3. Charged $5 for a sliced Apple for baby...totally ridiculous and made them change it. 4. Small serving sizes not commensurate with high price 5. Had to ask for ketchup with fries would think that you wouldn't have to ask that it would be served along side. Also, fries didn't hold their heat. 6. They claim to grind their meat daily well they forgot to season the meat for the hamburger. 7. Hostess / staff not attentive even after expressing mediocrity of establishment 8. Other restaurants in Charleston/Mt. Pleasant much better and they better get their act together....fast or they too will not be here long. Excellent food but very pricy for the portions and selection. The taste was amazing but the portions were small compared to the side dishes. This restaurant did not live up to the hype. My entree, sea scallops, was overpriced and had too many ingredients that did not complement each other. My husband's dish, a beef special of the day, was overly spicy, and he likes spicy food. Outside space was nice, and service good, but the menus were dirty and torn. I really truly wanted to like this place, but am sad to say that 2 stars is beyond generous. Our party of four made a reservation, and arrived fifteen minutes early to grab a drink at the bar. After finally flagging down the bar staff in the beyond crowded bar outside we were able to have maybe one or two sips of our average cocktails before our fifteen minutes was up and we went in to be seated. No dice. The totally useless hostesses were too busy gossiping about their drunken escapades to bother seating us or apologize for the delay. We weren't too fussed, it was busy and it happens, but after another fifteen minutes we checked in again to be totally brushed off rudely by the hostesses. If they looked up from their cell phones or stopped taking selfies for a hot second they might have noticed that it was over an HOUR after our reservation before we were seated. It took 20 min for a server to even give us water (we had to get up and get someone) and then another fifteen minutes before rushedly taking our order and disappearing. Our meal was poorly timed, took forever to arrive, and we had to shout the entire time because it was so ridiculously loud in there. I honestly almost lost my voice because of it and was hoarse by the end of the night. By the time we got our entrees it was a whopping 2+ hours after our res. In order to compensate for the time id had two more glasses of wine so maybe that explains why the food tasted pretty good, but I'd like to hope that it was because the kitchen sort of knew what they were doing. Our waitress never returned after giving us our entrees and we had to hunt her down for the check. My fiancé wanted to order dessert but we dissuaded him because it would've taken so long. We were not apologized to for rude, slow and downright neglectful service once, and the menu was way too long and confusing. I am so disappointed as I was looking forward to making this a regular hang out. The decor is great and they've really done a good job with the renovation but have fallen flat since. Very very hesitant to go back and deal with the insulting service. Don't waste your time. read more

Great atmosphere. Great outdoor hangout spot. Cool interior design. The service was good enough but not great. The food is just very underwhelming. Had the chicken salad which had no seasoning whatsoever... The chicken had no salt and tasted like nothing. The dressing had no taste. The lettuce wasn't seasoned either. My dad had the lobster pot pie... Had no lobster other than a single chunk. So again underwhelming. I know that the food in Shem creek isn't exactly the reason charleston is known for its restaurants so this place is basically on the same or slightly higher level than all the others. The view and atmosphere is amazing. In my opinion it's the best place to eat on Shem creek. I constantly tell out of towners about this place. We sat outside since we had our dog with us. It did take quite some time for service but they were busy and we were outside so I get it. The bartender helped with our orders and he was super nice. The hush puppies are a must get! We dropped in here, expecting a great farm-to-table meal and ambiance to match. The location is great-- right on Shem Creek. There is complimentary valet parking, which is priceless. The restaurant is beautifully done. The chairs are extremely comfortable. I almost wanted to drag one out the front door with me to take home. I had a great watermelon-y drink that really satisfied in the heat and humidity that is South Carolina in July. Unfortunately, this is where the good stuff stopped. Our waitress kept disappearing! We would go upwards of 30 minutes between sightings and even then we'd have to flag her down. For appetizers, we ordered deviled eggs and pimento cheese. The eggs were just alright-- pretty flavorless. The pimento cheese was hard and cold. It had obviously come right out of the cooler. It was not edible at all. The entrees (burgers) were extremely lackluster, especially given the lofty prices on the menu. We were disappointed to have walked away spending more than $100 on this meal and probably won't be back. It's my advice that you save your money and go elsewhere as well. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but it did not live up to it's expectations. The decor was great with an even better view. I came for brunch and ordered an amazing Bloody Mary. I was pleased up until this point; however when the food came out it started to go downhill. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich which came out raw, and was inedible. I told the server which I never do unless absolutely necessary, and she said that she was sorry and brought me a bill for the undercooked chicken. It was almost as if we were being pushed out of the door. If you're looking for a place to eat on Shem creek stick to Red's or Waters edge. read more

Dined at Tavern & Table for the first time earlier this week. Party of 10 and everyone was completely pleased with the food and service. The grilled sword fish was among the best ever. Appetizers were excellent. We visit Isle of Palms several time a year and Tavern & Table is now on our short list for dinner. We'll see you again in September! read more

We approached the restaurant dock side and couldn't determine which door to use. I think any one of them were ok. We walked into the dining area near the bar and then made our way to the other side of the restaurant to get a table. We didn't have reservations but didn't have to wait too long. Maybe 15 minutes, which I thought was good since it was a Saturday evening. My wife and I decided to split the Brick Chicken entrée. The waitress was visibly annoyed when we ordered. It was tasty but very small amount for an $8-9 drink. Their cheese and Ritz cracker app was good. I was very hesitant to come to this new restaurant because if the location (tourist trap central.) Could not get a reservation till 8:00 pm, however knowing I had to get a reservation hinted 2 things, that I would be served promptly, and the establishment cares about the quality and experience of meal. Neither of these thoughts were true, but the tourist trap experience was very true. I ha the ve lived in Mount Pleasant for almost 25 years, I have seen several restaurants come and go, this location is no exception. The menu reads very vague and difficult to determine exactly what you are getting and very confusing at times. After discussing with 4 adults and 2 kids what we thought things were, and going to get, by using Google and a dictionary, we ordered at 8:15. We kept this simple so that we did not get some chefs specialty one off meal. We simply wanted burgers and a salad. We also tried the olives appetizer. The meal was delivered 45 minutes after ordering, which is unacceptable, but based on the company I was with, I wasn't going to make a scene and complain, what good would it have done? I ordered my burger to be cooked medium another adult ordered theirs medium well. My daughter was never asked how she wanted hers cooked, this was not caught by me because it was so loud I assumed she was asked. The olives appetizer was very odd. The portion was too big, the flavor was too strong to eat more that 5 or 6 olives yet they gave me about 60 or so. My burger came out, cold, rare by any scale, with some sort of barbeque sauce (hated). The other adults burger was well done (no pink) and my daughters was very well done (black). All of the french fries were cold on all plates. The salad was anything but, more like the chefs artistic interpretation of the items that could be in a salad, but very little actual salad. Again, I wasn't going to complain and cause a scene, just very disappointed from an expectation standard. It begged the question, how can a chef screw up such simple meals? Burger meals from Poe's Tavern or even 5 guys are several levels above Table and Tavern's. Shame on me for not listening to my instincts. This trap will "wow" the tourist by drawing their eye to the décor, confuse them with the menu, and serve them substandard food for the premium price that they will pay, knowing that the tourist will not be back. You would be much better off getting the same views and feeling with exceptional food and service at Vickery's across the water. read more

Of all the restaurants in Mt Pleasant, I chose the Tavern and Table. I took my Great Dane, so I sat on the porch at the public table. We waited 15 minutes. The waitress walking by 6 times, never asking if we needed a menu, a drink, bowl of water, or explaining that she was busy and would be with me as soon as possible. When she decided busing a table was more important than us, I decided they must not need my business and left. If you don't need food, drinks, or pleasant waitress, this is your place. read more

The Black and Blue Mule is delicious and the outside seating is perfect for a relaxing happy hour drink or dinner by the water. Inside is much more formal and nicely decorated. Good service as well. Tried the Korean chicken wings which were HUGE, even though on the small plate menu. There were 6 gigantic wings that were too much for even 2 hungry people to finish. They were not spicy enough for my liking (that's why I chose Korean) and tasted like peanut butter because of the sauce, so that wasn't very appetizing. Also got the steamed bun with pork which wasn't bad, but overall the food was lacking in the strong flavors I was hoping to find based on the Korean influenced dishes. It's still a lovely place, but probably more for ambiance and drinks than main dishes, though the hummus starter was on point! read more

One of the best restaurants to happen to Shem Creek in a while. The food was so-so, but the drinks are excellent & ambiance is perfect. The hostess at the outdoor station couldn't seem to be bothered to interrupt the text she was sending to acknowledge us & offer us a table. Even after completing her personal business on her phone, the hostess didn't apologize, but in all honesty it's nearly impossible to stop a 19 year old from being permanently attached to their phones. Great location on Shem Creek, beautiful interior, great sunset views. I ventured out solo tonight and bellied up to the bar which is not my norm. I was looking for a nice glass of wine, a Caesar salad and some conversation with the bartenders. Only a few people at the bar so I found it odd as I tried to engage the bartenders with no luck, disappointing but I'm ok in my own skin. It's always the same story, service, service, service, unfortunately none here tonight. I'm a sucker for an up sell, they could have had me at hello, but no such luck. The location, interior, and service are excellent. Unfortunately for our group, the quality of the food was not in line with the price. We did enjoy our appetizers and I chose to eat two small plates instead of an entrée. The pork buns were tasty but the ceviche was lacking seasoning and citrus that I expected. Others in the group were not impressed with their entrees. I sampled two but they were just OK. I would go back for drinks appetizers and small plates but probably not dropping 3 bills again here for dinner. read more

Date night here with the wife last night and it was outstanding. The specialty cocktails are delicious and amazing. They had a special chorizo burger so I was locked in on that from the word chorizo. Our service was extremely great. She couldn't have been more attentive and also very thoughtful. My wife had the chimichurri steak salad and it looked awesome. The crab dip and the Brussel sprout appetizers were also quite good, especially the Brussel sprouts. And I don't even like Brussel sprouts. The only downside is the parking situation. Because of the travesty of the new parking garage going up the logistics for parking are a mess. read more

Excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. I have Celiac so the manager personally walked through the menu with me and there are a lot of options for gluten free. They actually have two gluten free dessert options that aren't sorbet or creme brûlée. Unique cocktail list, good wine list and lots of great beers if that is your thing. It's 11pm. We just got back from T&T. We arrived just before 8pm, so that might give you some idea of how long everything took. We had already been at our table for over an hour before we received our entrees. Granted, we did have appetizers before that. My husband and I shared the cheese and charcuterie board. It was okay. Four tiny toasted slices of bread were certainly not enough for 2 cheeses and 4 meats, plus the toppings. The pickled asparagus and what I believe were strawberries, had an interesting taste. Not quite sure how to describe them. I'm sure that I wouldn't order that again. My mom had the BLT salad, and said that it was pretty good. When we finally received our entrees, my husband and mom were less than impressed with their burgers. My husband was actually disappointed. My mom's was missing some toppings. It's kind of sad when you like the fries more than the "gourmet" burger. I had the duck meatloaf. That was actually pretty decent! I loved the sauce that it came with. I really wanted to order dessert before we left, but my husband was grumpy. I don't blame him. Our food, aside from my entree, was "meh", and our waitress, although very nice, wasn't all that attentive. So he was ready for the check so we could GO! I think if I ever come back, which is a possibility... I would like to lean towards trying more of the snack and small plate menu. read more
