Shem Creek is a great location. It was too cold to sit on the patio which was a shame because I was told it really makes the experience that much better. Service was excellent. The wait staff were helpful and informative. The food was good, we had the charcuterie and cheese plate (not a lot of cheese, next time we will just get the meat) and steak tartare. Spices were spot on and the combinations of flavors and textures were unique and appealing. Dessert was great. Decor was fun and trendy. The only issue we had was the noise. It was hard to have a conversation. We plan to go back in the spring and check out the patio. read more

Today was my husband's birthday. We wanted to have a special dinner. He chose to visit Tavern and Table. What a great choice! The service was OUTSTANDING! Our server, Ashley, was spot on. Food was delivered in a timely fashion and was Delicious. In our party of four, no one was able to finish the portions served. The interior design was amazingly beautiful. Those of you who had an experience unequal to ours...all I can say is try it again. We love to eat at the great places in the low country, part of the reason we moved here. Terrible experience. Can't tell you what the food is like because we never got our lunch. Got our cup of clam chowder quickly. It was good although rather salty. 45 minutes later we were still waiting for our lunches. Just ordered steamed shrimp and fish tacos so not sure what the problem was. To make matters worse we had to flag our waiter to get a refill on iced tea. She never stopped by with an explanation of the delay or to ask if we needed anything. This place is AWESOME!!! The food is wonderful and tasty! The restaurant is next to Shem Creek and if you are lucky enough, you could see Henry the Dolphin at the edge of the patio! The TNT dessert is great and the drinks are gone in a slurp! If you have a long wait, you can get drinks out on the patio. A very sweet place for 4-6 people in a group. 8 of us had brunch today. Had a reservation for 1:30 - took a while to get seated. Yes, they were very busy. My husband ordered the "Toad in the Hole", which was listed with bacon. All of us had our food except him. Waited at least 15 minutes to get his food. He realized when we got home that there was no bacon with the dish. Tavern and Table is what I call upscale bar food. I don't mean that to be insulting as its one of my favorite styles. The food IMO is very good. However, if you are going into this expecting fine dining you will be disappointed. Truthfully I think lots of the dishes/ideas are really creative and the type of things you don't find on menus here in Charleston where Seafood/BBQ/Farm 2 Table seems to be repeated over and over and over (Hey we do it well). Just the fact that this place has Bison Burgers, Shishito peppers, Creative Hummus to go along with flat breads and all the other standards is pretty cool. It actually looks like they expanded their menu. The View is also incredible and it seems they've added some giant umbrellas which will be nice for summer rain/sun. I will give it a point deduction for consistently off service. Not bad service. Not unfriendly. Just service that is a bit off here and there. Like waiting 15 minutes to be greeted by the waiter. Or the outside tables not being bused or cleaned. But overall I really like this place and it's certainly one of the more unique places in the Shem Creek area. Also when I go out to eat I'm looking to have a good relaxing time and this fits the bill. I don't need anyone to shine my shoes and pamper me. Also I think the prices are fair and worth the extra bucks to not just have fried everything. read more

The food was amazing. That's what really made this night for us. The service could have been better. We waited for a table just over an hour. With it being a holiday weekend I understand it being busy, but hat seems a bit excessive. The team at the front seemed disorganized (except for one young girl who was running the show), I think this had a lot to do with the issues. Outside of the long wait and ok service, the food was absolutely amazing. You MUST try the Mac & Cheese, probably the best I've ever had. The bison burger was to die for. The drinks were amazing and the bartenders were great, fast, and efficient. I had a peach sangria that was my favorite drink of the night. The old fashioned was great as well!! read more

This restaurant has 5 star atmosphere but unfortunately only 2.5 star food. Best thing we had was the cornbread. Unfortunately the turkey burger was over cooked and burnt. The shrimp and scallop carbonara felt over priced. Only 4 shrimp and 2 scallops for $33! However I cannot understate how beautiful the decor and location is. First and foremost, this restaurant is gorgeous...like I want to move in and live there. T&T feels cozy and welcoming but still has a upscale vibe so you can celebrate a special occasion or throw on a sun dress and step off your boat onto the dock for brunch. I've been to T&T for Saturday night dinner & Sunday Brunch. Brunch warning...the "Small Plates" Chicken wings consists of 5 or 6 FULL SIZE wing/thighs deep fried with spicy Asian sauce...its delicious but not "small". The portion sizes are generous and the food is gourmet but not pretentious. It's difficult to find a Charcuterie Plate in many restaurants and Tavern and Table has a great one! The staff has always been friendly and attentive. This is a very busy restaurant with a lively crowd so don't go expecting a quiet meal. The only negative I can mention is the parking situation, which may be remedied once the parking garage is completed. As of last Saturday 8/13, the parking lot was full when we arrived for dinner and although they offered complimentary valet, the line to get to the valet stand was aboutt 25 cars long. read more

The hostess was not friendly. Our reservation was at 11:45 AM and we arrived at 11:35. The hostess said she could not seat us until 11:45 and to come back to see her at 11:45. We sat in front of the hostess station and waited until 11:45. She looked up at us every-once in a while. When she did not say anything I wet up and stood in front of her and waited for her to acknowledge me. She did not say anything and just looked at the other hostess and the other hostess walked past me and started walking down the hall. She turned and said come this way. The Shrimp and grits was OK but it was a very small portion for the price. We got the food within a few minutes. The waiter never came to check on us after we got the food. We set there for 20 minutes after we ate waiting for someone to give us our check. MY family will not be back. read more

I recently went for a birthday dinner which was was very accommodating for our big group. Service was excellent and very prompt. The food was very delicious. At this point I've been so many times I've almost had everything on the menu. We were probably the most dreaded party for any restaurant - a party of 23, of which 11 were kids ages 4-10...who were in a rush to get to a ghost tour...and who wanted separate checks. When all could have easily gone south, Tavern and Table totally delivered an amazing experience. The ambiance, food and service was terrific and not only met, but far exceeded our expectations!!!! Ezra, our waiter, perfectly managed the entire table of 23 and paid incredible attention to detail. The cocktails were wonderful- especially the rosemary/grapefruit Collins. For appetizers we liked the pimento cheese with bacon jam. The Brussels sprouts, sweet potato fries and southwest salad were also winners. Hands down, a great experience. First time here, took the Wife with my Son and Daughters who came into town for my Birthday. The building and atmosphere was great. Food, not so much.... Wife got the whole fish, Snapper, under cooked and whatever spices they used didn't smell very good. fish was mushy..... I was very excited to come to Tavern and Table with a big group of girls for a friend's birthday. However, when my group and I arrived, we were less than pleased with the service. We had a reservation set for 9:00 PM, we arrived at 8:40 PM, and we were not seated until 9:20. When I went to the hostess at 9:15 to ask for an update on our table, I was rudely explained to that my group had inconvenienced the restaurant and that we needed to be more patient. This place is right on the marina. The scenery outside is beautiful. I started with their black and blue mule. It was such a good twist on a classic. I loved everything about it. For dinner I ordered the Chimichurri Steak Salad. I ate every last bite. The flavors matched up perfectly. Our service was ok. The wait was a little long and the restaurant wasn't that busy. So I absolutely love the food and atmosphere at Tavern & Table and previously I've never had a problem with my experience here which is why I made a reservation to have my birthday dinner here. So my birthday was Friday June 29th and I scheduled well in advance for 8:30 and for 20-25 people. I'd received calls throughout the week to confirm the reservation which was great! I also received three calls the day of to confirm the time and amount of people. I let them know each time I was called that I didn't have an exact count anymore because I had received calls and text that some would be late or may not be able to make it but I was sure the amount would be near or over 20 guest. Each time i spoke with someone they told me that was fine they'd just have it set up for 25 at 8:30 I then asked was there anything else I needed to do and was told no that everything would be ready. So I arrive at 8:30 and there are at least 15 guests already there so I check in with the hostess and let her know I was there for my 8:30 reservation and the head waitress Ginger asked if I knew how many people were coming I responded with a no and explained that I spoke with three people earlier and explained the situation and all of them said it was fine and that the table would be set up by 8:30. Ginger then starts to get very snappy with me saying that I couldn't be seated until my full party was there and that she needed a full count of who all was coming. So at this point I'm trying to level with her so I re-explain everything and apologize that I couldn't gage a better count and then mentioned that I'd spoken to three people that day and none of them mentioned that the full party had to be before we were seated her response in a rude tone was "well I'm telling you now" and sticks her arm out towards me as to push me away. I was trying not to become difficult with her but this issue frustrated me greatly! I told her then that I understood what she was trying to say but that it would have been helpful if someone mentioned that in one of the three calls I had received earlier so that I could've tried a different approach of making sure the whole party was there at 8:30. She continued to have an attitude and told me that I couldn't be seated until the other people were there and when I had a better headcount then she'd get my table together. At this point I'm confused because what was the point of me scheduling a reservation in advance if you weren't going to already have a table ready for me and my party ? This continued on for a few more minutes with her continuing to speak to me in a harsh tone. I ask if she could just set the table for 20 and she continues to state that she can't because all of us aren't here I keep explaining to her that some people are running late and parking outside is a nightmare! I'm extremely flustered at this point and there's a bunch of us waiting in the foyer area! As you could imagine I'd rather not have spent my birthday arguing over a reservation but rather fellowshipping with my friends! I decide to step aside and speak to the others in my group who all witnessed the conversation and complained about her rudeness. I am not one to play any "special cards" but I find it very astonishing when a friend of mine decided to take the lead and speak with her... we were then seated within 5 minutes. Which made me feel a bit off about the whole situation because I genuinely hate complaining but this whole situation left a horrible taste in my mouth! I then found out that her boss was called and he apologized to my friend for the misunderstanding. I'm a very reasonable person and I completely understand rules and protocol but being spoken to in that manner was unacceptable and uncalled for especially in front of an audience! Now on a positive note the food was good and the other wait staffed seemed to be a lot nicer! I had no other complaints the rest of the night and my party enjoyed their meals as well but everyone was still pretty shocked at how Rude Ms. Ginger was!! read more

Had really wonderful meal in which we ordered many different plates: deviled eggs, charcuterie with cheese, Brussels and kale, Mac and cheese, burger, flatbread, steak salad, and cod special. All were delicious. Especially loved the Brussels and kale salad which was light but flavorful and the killer pork Mac and cheese. The cod special was very tasty and should become a regular on the menu. For dessert we had the s'mores cupcake and pecan/almond pie.....OMG!!! Hard to decide which was better......really loved the pie. Service was attentive but a little less than perfect....should improve with time. Noise level a bit high but crowded Friday night. Visit 1: Exquisite decor and ambience and beautiful views of Shem for my little one to "find the mermaids" while the adults enjoyed our dinner. HOWEVER on our first visit, we called and made reservations for a party of 8 outside..we were told great and time confirmed. We get there and they tried to seat us inside..we said no we made res for outside we have out of town guests. WELL to our dismay they only take res for inside and the hostess who answered the phone apparently didn't relate the correct info (or know the correct info) to us. SO we waited 2 HOURS for a table outside (only 2 tables would fit our group size) and it is first come first serve, so the 2 college kids that were drinking a beer at the table for 10 were allowed to sit there and hold their table for an hour and a half till their friends got off school. We on the other hand had to wait for the secondary table because this is all legit there. The food nailed it though. The crab dip appetizer was the best Ive ever had and I went with a boring steak salad for dinner which just was amazing and over the top!!! ALL 8 of our group raved about their meals and the dessert was unbelievable. Our out of town guests said this was the best food they've had in Charleston to date. Visit 2: Knowing what I know about outdoor seating, we waited for a table for an hour while having drinks (party of 4 at 1pm week day)..not annoyed though cause it was expected. It was worth the wait to be seated near the water..UNTIL a huge boat parked in front and blocked the whole view of Shem..to my dismay (we brought another couple from out of town who are amazed at dolphins) BUT more so my 18 month old LOST her mind when she couldn't "see the mermaids" and I ended up walking and standing in front of Reds in the cigarette smoke most of my stay. All I kept thinking was its worth the wait, its worth a view of a side of a boat now because the crab dip will make it all better...well..they changed their menu in the 2 weeks we had visited and now had no similar replacement to that type of food.
