    Meatloaf

Really love this place, but beware of queso. It's pimento cheese and the in person menu doesn't say that it isn't traditional queso. We go for lunch usually for work and are quickly seated. The meatloaf is a favorite. The cornbread appetizer is always a hit with our group. Definitely will go back to try more.

Food is great, we love the queso Americano and Guacamole for starters. I've tried their deviled eggs and it was just okay for me. I like their Zuni chicken salad but the chicken was a bit dry. I love the Japanese salmon. My husband likes the Mexico City brisket enchiladas. He's also had the steak tacos, though it was tasty the meat was tough. Service is impeccable, very attentive. Ambiance is classy and cozy at the same time.

Striped bass with lump crab over mashed potatoes and a side of spinach

Came in for lunch. The wait would have been about 30 minutes so we sat at the bar. Service was good- personable without being in the middle of your business. I did sit for a while with an empty glass while the woman next to me had hers topped off before it was halfway empty. (There was only 4-6 people at the bar with two bartenders) Buuuut it happens. They recommended the fish of the day- striped bass with crab over some tasty mashed potatoes. I do wish the spinach was a tad more wilted, but all around it hit the spot- I would definitely recommend it. A little pricey though!

Visited the restaurant a second time on a Wednesday night and it was a much better experience! I did not realize there aren't many restaurants in the area opened until ten and glad this one was! Our waitress Alexis was very attentive! The sushi grade tuna salad and the fish of the day were both fresh tasting and delicious! I truly enjoyed the many flavors in the tuna salad, which included a tropical flare. We indulged in their blueberry bread pudding! Well balanced with the lemon custard!

If you've seen my previous reviews you know I am a big fan of Tavern. I rarely eat a sandwich or burger, etc. because ... bread... Carbs. LOL. But I love bread, sammies, and burgers of any and every sort. Today because I was particularly hungry I was weak and opted for the French Dip. LOL. I love French Dips. This was good, but not up to what I would have expected from Tavern. I loved the way in which it was sliced into three manageable sections (two of which went home!). What was missing for me was the robust, rich, beefy flavor I'm hoping for in a French Dip sandwich. I would love to see more cheese, more mayo and a much, much more robust and flavorful au jus. The flavors just did not sing. But I made a discovery that is going to prove problematic for me on future visits. The French fries. Damn. I cannot undiscover this. LOL. These this are so ridiculously, crazy good. Wow. Thin cut, crispy, perfectly seasoned. So good! Finish them while they're hot.

Food and atmosphere were amazing for our brunch following Susan G Koman Walk for Breast Cancer! A little pricey but taste was GREAT!

I can't believe I'm just discovering this spot. I shop at trader Joe's frequently and never paid any attention to the surrounding restaurants. What an amazing little gem. We went on a Sunday and the restaurant was busy. Our server Luis was awesome. He made a couple suggestions and they were all exceptional. We had the oysters Rockefeller and the deviled eggs. Both were 5 star. I had the crab cake salad. The crab cake had jumbo lump meat and no filler. All meat. It was one of the best crab cakes I've ever had. My husband had a filet snd enchilada and my bonus daughter had a grilled chicken salad. Everyone cleaned their plates. For my cocktail I started with a Bloody Mary. Great flavor but too much black pepper for me. Luis suggested a cocktail called the jam. It was exceptional! Bourbon, strawberry jam and sweet & sour. We will definitely go back on our next trader Joe run.

Decided to dine in after a night of bocce at Clearfork. It had been a few years since I've dined in and decided to give it a try. Upon entering, we were quickly seated and greeted by our waiter for the evening, Luis. He was very welcoming and attended to us very well for the evening. We started with water and the fire roasted artichoke. Sooooo dang good and seasoned perfectly! Came with a dipping sauce that we didn't touch because it wasn't needed. (Sorry no pic) For entrees we both went with the special which consisted of grilled red snapper sitting atop a bed of mashed taters, topped with a butter sauce and 3 succulent shrimp, and a side of sautéed spinach. For dessert we tried the banana cream pie. Oh my gosh....HEAVEN on a plate! Overall I can't wait to return! The atmosphere was amazing and so were the service and food.

Came into The Tavern and had a great dinner. The service was nice and our waiter was very attentive. I loved the decor and how it seems to have an upscale but still relaxed atmosphere. Started with the smoked salmon that came with a horseradish sauce that was fantastic! Our entrees were the Baja Fish tacos that had really good flavor and cooked very well. The Sonoma Steak Salad was cooked and the dressing had great flavor that went well with the steak. Finally we had the Texas Burger that had a , Canadian Bacon, BBQ sauce and pickled onions. This was the surprise of the evening and normally you see pickled onions on tacos. However on this burger it works and really made it pop. I loved this place and can't wait to go back.

Got these to go and they are delicious!!

Great food, great drinks, and great service. I like to order one single egg for myself but today I got a couple of trays to go for my Christmas dinner. So good!

We ordered the mexcrunch wrap and the buffalo chicken wrap. I like how the salads can be made into wraps, which provides more options. I think we both preferred the mexcrunch, simply due to the crunchy texture. I think both wraps would have been better if we could've had the sauce on the side, because the wraps got soggy pretty quickly. The side pasta salad was surprisingly really good, and I see why they serve it. Overall, I'd definitely go back here for a healthy lunch option.

On the hottest day, I sat outside, but the fans kept the air moving so it wasn't terrible. Joseph attended to me quickly and was excited to serve me despite the heat. I ordered the steak bite appetizer and the mahi mahi tacos with fries. The steak bites were flavorful and the sautéed onions amazing. Perfect appetizer for two. The mahi mahi tacos were simply beautiful. All the flavors came through from the housemate tortilla, grilled mahi mahi to the citrus marinade and pickled onions. I do think the avocado cream got forgotten but I asked for it and Joseph brought me some. I added it to the second taco and it elevated. The crema has a little kick that is just perfect. I also consider myself a picky French fry eater. I'm more a frite fan than fry fan. Maybe it's the tallow, but these fries were wonderfully crispy and well salted. I highly recommend this meal! However, once I received the starters, I felt the portions were much smaller than expected. In my opinion, the charred campfire chicken could feed one person, while the cochinita nachos could feed two. I will say the charred campfire chicken was juicy and had a nice charred texture. The white bbq aioli and smoked corn slaw were delicious and paired nicely with the chicken. Unfortunately, the cochinita nachos were very disappointing and, honestly the worst nachos I've had at a restaurant. The nachos are the primary reason for my two star rating. The Mexican pulled pork contained a few fatty pieces, and the Jack cheese was unevenly dumped throughout the nachos in large chunks. The bottom of the plate was also soaking in grease from the cheese. I've never experienced this with nachos at another restaurant, and I would think the excess grease would be drained so the chips at the bottom aren't left sitting in it. I noticed that most guests were ordering their small burgers and fries, so I may return to try those or possibly order another chicken dish.

The space is cozy, which is a polite way of saying it is not built for large groups or people who like personal space. The wait can be substantial, and the indoor holding area is limited, if the weather is doing something dramatic, you'll want to know that before you commit. The real secret, which I discovered the hard way, is that you can join the waitlist online before you even leave the house. Life-changing information that arrived too late for us. Learn from my mistakes. Once seated, the coffee is hot, the iced tea is fresh, a surprisingly rare achievement at breakfast hours, and the menu has enough options to cause genuine decision paralysis. We ordered two Traditional Breakfasts, both over easy eggs, both crispy bacon. One arrived cooked to absolute perfection, eggs exactly as requested, bacon doing exactly what bacon is supposed to do. The other arrived with eggs cooked firmly over hard. Same table, same order, same server. How does this happen? It is one of breakfast's great unsolved mysteries. The breakfast potatoes, meanwhile, showed promise, well seasoned and flavorful, but arrived in a mixed state of doneness that required careful excavation to find the fully cooked ones. It was less of a side dish and more of an archaeological dig. The third order, the Tri-Fecta, came with a multigrain pancake the size of a small continent, which almost made up for the potato situation. And then there was the Million Dollar Bacon. We didn't order it. The table next to us did. I watched it arrive and I am still not over it. Order the Million Dollar Bacon. Do not make my mistake. Do not be me. First Watch is a solid breakfast spot with real upside, get on the waitlist before you leave home, order the bacon, and maybe double-check your eggs before your server walks away.
