Went for breakfast and although the service was great and the publike atmosphere lovely, the meal was a bit on the pricey side. French toast and coffee for $21?! Ordered the frosted flakes French toast and I wanted to say it was mindblowing but tbh I would probably order an omelette next time. It had the crunch but a strange after taste. Maybe their using an off brand rather than legit FF? Also, Make sure you ask for cracked eggs. Judging from my friends' omelettes it looks like they premix or even use a carton which is never ok in my book. read more

This place is fire!!!!! The deviled eggs were bomb, we ordered another order after eating the first!! The food came out super fast! Our waitress Jennifer was so sweet and had great service. She did great explaining the menu and making us feel comfortable for me and my fiancé's first time eating there. We were checked on by two other staff members as well. Great service!! The crab cake salad was amazing!!!!!! Like OMGGG. My fiancé got the smoked prime rib and it was sooo tender. Super flavorful and the mashed potatoes. Best place I've eaten at in Fort Worth considering all cuisines. The brisket tacos were probably the best I've ever had. The brisket is slow cooked and is marinated in something I could only describe as beautiful. The queso americano (pimento cheese) and guacamole were to die for. Clearly from my picture, I couldn't stop eating it to actually take a picture before it was wiped out. The service was also top notch to match the food. I ate here for the first time during the pandemic. The tables were spread apart and everyone was eating outside. All waitstaff were wearing masks. They also have a QR code for the menu to prevent exposure that could happen through physical menus. 10/10 recommend to everyone read more

Let me just start by saying, what an exceptional experience Kyle gave my sister and I. His service was top notch with his friendliness and knowledge of what this restaurant has to offer! He gets a 5+ star rating! Food gets a 4.5 star rating. We decided to create our own "three-course" meal. First, we ordered the queso, salsa, and guacamole with fresh tortilla chips. The flavors and textures were on on point from the chunky avocado to the roasted peppers in the salsa. Second, our entrees, I ordered the famous pastrami sandwich and my sister ordered the filet mignon. The .5 deduction is from the less than crispy fries. Other than that, the sandwich was delicious! The meat was tender and just the right temp. Along with the slaw they added, that complimented the sandwich as a whole. My sister enjoyed everything about her meal. Her filet was done to perfection, medium rare and had just the right amount of seasoning and grill taste. Her choice of roasted Brussels sprouts with red onions was full of flavor and right amount of char. Third, highly recommended by Kyle to try was the homemade key lime pie and boy, was he right! Flavors and textures were all there from the fresh whip cream with an earthy taste from the lime zest to the creaminess of the key lime filling. Overall experience, MUST GO! read more

Been in here twice and both times were a great experience. Last time I had the meatloaf which was so good, this time we had devilled eggs, crab cakes and the key like pie which were all amazing. Dinner here last evening. The Filet Mignon was not medium rare. Both steaks were overcooked and served cold. A mashed potato side was missing on one of our entrees. I wish I could give ZERO stars. I went yesterday for my friends birthday. Walked in, 11:15am was told that we would have a 20 minute wait, no biggy. Went to the bar to wait, asked for 3 different Chardonnays none were available so had to buy the $80 one, not offered a discount. Can't they go across the street and buy some wine! Then got a table 45 minutes later manager finally asked if I needed anything told her yes and she never returned. Corked the wine and finally a weasel faced waiter with glasses asked "can I get you anything"I told home no we have been here for 1.5 hours and are leaving." His response was "ok" WOW! Long term, one of our favorite food and atmosphere spots in FtW for Brunch, Lunch, Happy Hour or Supper. The service suffered for a while during Covid management, but has been recovered. Everything on the menu is excellent and well prepared/balanced/portioned. We will definitely keep returning to this favorite spot. read more

We absolutely love Tavern! We've tried almost everything on the menu and you can't go wrong. The food is so delicious. The atmosphere is nice. A great deal of my friends eat constantly and very happily at the Tavern ...but dont think to leave a review... The food is always excellent and you can't have a bad time much-less mediocre food. However one of the Tavern's biggest super powers is ...hiring fabulous people ...The general manager is a delight ... This place is a cute restaurant not far from TCU. We had a mix of lunch/brunch and I'm not sure it was worth it. The ambience was cute but I'd say overpriced for what it was. I got the pancakes and it was $13 for average size pancakes and they didn't come with a side. Although one cool thing they have is if you want to charge your phone they have portable phone charges to lend you. That was the only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 3. read more

Delicious!!! I have a few dietary restrictions most notably, I'm gluten free, and Tavern staff really worked with me. If you're looking for a delicious gluten free option both the rotisserie chicken and pork chop are awesome choices. I loved the rotisserie chicken. It was so moist and had a great skin on it. I wasn't super excited about the spinach side but it was actually very good! The spinach came wilted with cooked cabbage, garlic, and Parmesan. My friends got the veggie burger and fish tacos and they loved their meals as well. We ordered the flame grilled artichoke for the table and it was wonderful. The ambiance in here was wonderful especially during the rain storm we had this past weekend, it really felt like a cozy little tavern in that moment. Will be back! read more

The servers were very patient and helpful explaining the menu and the favorites. We had the deviled eggs and artichoke to start. Both were delicious but will say the artichoke didn't seem worth the price of $14. Then had the special salmon LBC (lemon butter crab) and the Japanese salmon as our entrees. Tavern serves house-made, contemporary American cuisine with a southwestern flair and has been a Fort Worth favorite since 2010. We take the time to make our food from scratch: hand-picking fresh vegetables, hand-cutting premium steaks, and baking our own breads daily. In addition to our delectable food offerings, we also have a full bar with a selection of signature cocktails, local craft beers, and an extensive wine list for a perfect pairing with any meal. Tavern Bar and Grill opened in October of 2010 and was recently remodeled in September of 2014. The same great food and service have remained the same.

Meet the Business Owner: Felipe A.

Celebrated Chef Felipe Armenta opened the Tavern Bar and Grill in October of 2010. He moved to Ft. Worth from San Angelo where he opened The Grill and Cork and Pig Tavern with the mission to bring his from scratch cooking to the local community. Felipe's style of cooking is to take the best ingredients and prepare them in classic ways with attention to detail. He sources the best produce, meat and ingredients and uses organic and sustainable products in many of his dishes. I do think the avocado cream got forgotten but I asked for it and Joseph brought me some. I added it to the second taco and it elevated. The crema has a little kick that is just perfect. I also consider myself a picky French fry eater. I'm more a frite fan than fry fan. Maybe it's the tallow, but these fries were wonderfully crispy and well salted. I highly recommend this meal! Overall, a great meal with great service by Joseph. It is always a mood booster to be around people that are in great spirits and do their job well.

Unfortunately, the cochinita nachos were very disappointing and, honestly the worst nachos I've had at a restaurant. The nachos are the primary reason for my two star rating. The Mexican pulled pork contained a few fatty pieces, and the Jack cheese was unevenly dumped throughout the nachos in large chunks. The bottom of the plate was also soaking in grease from the cheese. I've never experienced this with nachos at another restaurant, and I would think the excess grease would be drained so the chips at the bottom aren't left sitting in it. I noticed that most guests were ordering their small burgers and fries, so I may return to try those or possibly order another chicken dish.

First Watch is a solid breakfast spot with real upside, get on the waitlist before you leave home, order the bacon, and maybe double-check your eggs before your server walks away.

The Tavern is the kind of place that makes you feel good about choosing brunch over sleeping in -- mostly. We rolled in on a Saturday morning with a reservation, which turned out to be unnecessary given how quiet it was, but better safe than sorry. The space has an easy, unhurried feel that suits the occasion. We opened with the Rosemary Biscuits, which were a pleasant surprise. "Rosemary" in a dish name can be a warning sign -- a threat that your food will taste like a herb garden -- but these were beautifully restrained. Large, fluffy, and just fragrant enough to feel intentional. A strong start. For entrees, the Pork Chop and Eggs was the clear star of the table. Pork chops are a high-wire act -- one minute too long and you're chewing through disappointment -- but The Tavern nailed it. Tender, perfectly cooked, with over-easy eggs that were exactly what over-easy eggs should be. Runny yolk, no apologies. The classic Eggs Benedict, unfortunately, told a different story. The eggs came overcooked, with yolks that had fully set -- a cardinal sin for a dish that lives and dies by that golden, runny center. It's possible the kitchen was compensating for a slow morning, or possibly recooking after an earlier mishap, because service for food was noticeably sluggish despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. The Tavern has real promise, and the pork chop alone is worth the trip. Get the biscuits. Order the pork chop. And if you go for the Eggs Benedict, maybe specify that you'd like your yolks to still have a pulse. read more
