Food was below par. French dip had no flavor and fries were so overwhelming salty. The service was fine, but when we came in I over heard and saw another server look my husband and I up and down, had a face of utter disgust tell the host that he wasn't going to serve us. It's very uncomfortable sitting and eating when you feel judged for how you dress ( mind you I was in my dress slacks and blouse for work and my husband in blue jeans and cowboy boots). Fabulous, is all I can say. The ambiance, the food, our server, just great. We started with the deviled eggs, superb!!! The queso and chips as well as the oysters were all very good! For our entree we had the meatloaf, delicious. My friend had tacos, looked insanely good. Fries were great, and the banana cream pie was good. The home made key lime pie, oh my god. So good. We absolutely love The Tavern. They have recently renovated and the inside is Texas chic. I highly recommend making a reservation (Resy), because it can be difficult to get in on some evenings (especially weekends). That's because the Felipe Armenta crew does not disappoint. Service is always great, and the menu is quite broad. I highly recommend the fillet and enchilada, and they also offer one of the best cuts of prime rib in Fort Worth. The miso salmon is excellent. For starters, try the deviled eggs, roasted, artichoke, or the spinach/artichoke dip. The big salads are also good, especially the sushi tuna salad. I love The Tavern. The food and service is always excellent. My favorite thing is the Zuni Salad for lunch. I gave it 4 stars because it is so noisy. The music was so loud and we asked our server if they could turn it down. It's almost impossible to have a decent conversation. I had met someone for lunch to discuss some business things and it made it difficult to hear each other. I remembered that it was often very loud. With all the conversations going on, I don't understand why they have to play the music that loud. read more

Three stars at best and that's because our server was awesome. I liked the decor of the place it gave off a chill relaxing vibe but it stops there. The food was very mediocre. My pork chop tasted like it was border line freezer burned and my potato's were cold. Lemonade tasted fresh so that was a plus. read more

Second visit to the tavern since they remodeled but the first time to dine inside. The remodel is beautiful! You'll notice the similarities with Maria's Mexican Kitchen-Chef Armenta operates both. The food remains on point. I'm assuming the Monday special is still crab cakes since I was fortunate enough for some to be available for Tuesdays lunch. The Tavern & pacific table (another Chef Armenta establishment) have the best crab cakes in town. It's like ALL crab!! I had the crab salad which is $33. So you get what you pay for right? I also enjoyed a lavender martini. Opie was our waiter and was fantastic. Super friendly and knowledgeable. I do recommend reservations. read more

I'm fond of The Tavern. I like to be able to make reservations. I like the many offerings so when we dine with our daughter and son-in-law. For example my wife likes the French Dip, She and our daughter likes the deviled eggs. Our daughter likes the Pastrami sandwich. Our son-in-law likes the Ahi Tuna Burger. I am a Pork Chop fan. But, we all want to try other menu items. My only complaint is the noise. It's very hard to hear. read more

Overall horrible experience. To start with if I go to a place called Tavern I would expect them to have a better bourbon selection than Chili's, know the difference between a bourbon and a whiskey. And not charge me for the bourbon I did order that they were out of...they have a great selection of WELL quality bourbon. The food was between Good and Horrible. The $25 French Dip was about the size of a kids sub at Pot Belly sandwich. Waitress said it was toasted bread, it wasn't. Salmon appetizer was OK. Friend ordered Enchiladas and he was shocked at the price compared to the portion...about 50% open plate ...maybe they should us smaller plates. I had the Texas Burger...I'm 65 years old and this is the first time in my life I have ever sent back a Hamburger...probably only the 3rd time I remember ever sending anything back. Wagyu beef...and not much of it ....I ask for medium...I got a hockey puck with cold shredded cheddar on top. Ordered a Crap Cake salad instead and I do have to say it was excellent. The only two positives from this place were the service and the Crab Cake. By the way your 51% "no guns" sign is not legally posted and worthless. read more

We were totally disgusted after being served a bug on our plate here. The server snatched the plate off the table as if she knew exactly what to do in the situation. The manager then came out and said she didn't know what else to say other than sorry and that she would refund the entire tab. Then she walked away. The entire restaurant was swarming with flies and I can assure you that under no circumstances will we be returning to this establishment! I ordered the steak and the flavor was awful but after finding that bug in the food we didn't finish our drinks or did I finish the other food they offered to give us for free. I honestly felt the waitress was fed up with dealing with this complaint because looking at her face she too was completely discussed. read more

The newly renovated space is beautiful! Lush, warm, modern, with a tinge of chic country. While the menu has something for everyone with items ranging from meatloaf to enchiladas to baby back ribs, the quality of food does not suffer from the variety of options. Two TVs are behind the bar if you're interested in a sports game. The background music they play is very cool and eclectic. I came for the happy hour which is M-F from 3pm to 5:30pm For dinner I ordered the meatloaf and my date chose the chicken bites with mac-n-cheese instead of coleslaw and fries. Both were delicious! I also ordered the key lime pie to go. I stole a bite and will certainly enjoy it later tonight! I also need to mention how great our server was today. The breading had zero seasoning and just not a good taste. The dipping sauces (honey mustard and ranch) were either not house made or not good. My new favorite in Fort Worth for casual, American cuisine! Went for a late lunch, early dinner on a Saturday to avoid crowds. I knew this was going to be good as soon as we entered and heard best jams from the 80's playing (Michael J., Billy Joel, Prince) and gazed upon this chic modern decor (think Ralph Lauren meets Frank Sinatra meets English Countryside meets Art Deco)! We were seated in houndstooth upholstered chairs promptly and Abe took great care of us. Our daughter couldn't make it so Abe graciously helped make a nice to go sampler throughout the meal. As we do, ordered many appetizers: Deviled eggs, Cast iron skillet cornbread, Fire toasted artichokes and Oysters Rockefeller. ALL were absolutely AMAZING!! The cornbread was to die for with a crust almost resembling a cobbler. The eggs were fresh and not rubbery as sometimes can happen. Oysters were breaded and fried and a delicious bite with just a hint of hot. The artichokes had a smoke flavor and sauce that was spot on and a nice different option for an appetizer. Main entrees: Crab cake salad was perfect balance of fresh light fare. Salad was nicely chilled and dressed and crab cake warm with great texture and a bit of mustard for the win! Made for a delightful bite. French dip was a nice comforting choice but the fries were the star of the dish!! Thin, crispy and dressed with salt, pepper and Parmesan? Could have eaten just the fries and been happy. Finally, the steak tacos with a smoky red chile sauce hit the spot!! Cocktails: Mimosa, Old Fashioned (with a single big ice cube!) and House Margarita. All cold and well poured although it did take a bit longer than expected to arrive. Last note which you don't see often...the bathrooms were amazingly beautiful and with candles going smelled wonderful! We with absolutely be back and consider this our new favorite joint!! read more

It's been a couple years since I've been to the Tavern and it was still amazing-- if not better! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had a lot of requests, but they all came quickly and happily. All of the food was excellent. The French dip is cooked to perfection and the au jus was extremely flavorful (which doesn't happen often IMO). The deviled eggs and spinach artichoke dip were classic and fantastic. Don't fix something that's not broken! The bread pudding was super soft. The caramel and ice cream on the top put it over the edge. The mud pie had a coffee flavor which was unexpected but appreciated. Everything was an 8/10 or above. Delicious! Atmosphere also gets a 9/10. The booths are the best seating, especially in the back. If we could give more stars we would. I want to first give our waiter Cody and big shoutout. He was kind and super attentive. He made great recommendations and was just above and beyond. There was another party on the patio who we're celebrating and we're a bit on the loud side so there was really nothing we can do about that. But the over all vibe in general here is spot on. Now the food, im legit in a food coma right now but happy about it. The grilled artichoke was finger licking good. I had the crab cake salad and hands down the best crab cake I have ever had. My husband did the pork chop and the thing was bigger than his had. The bartender made a great old fashioned and my cosmo was perfection.
