Been here for lunch twice now and both times were great. Food is delicious and waitresses are attentive and pleasant. Prices are very reasonable for the area and you get what you pay for! Only minor con is parking is a little limited but i never had an issue. Definitely recommend! read more

Stumbled onto this place driving home to NJ. Outside is a little deceiving. Inside was clean with great aesthetics staff was friendly from walk in. Waitress was attentive. We had wings which came out quickly and we're great. Salmon and steak salad were both perfect. Definitely recommend. read more

We have ordered take out twice over the past couple of weeks. The food was so delicious. The menu has a wide variety of options. The portions are very generous. Everything is fresh and homemade. I've been to Tavern on 7 several times now while I was in Norwalk on business. They have a great selection of beers to choose from, standard pub grub - and also some really good specials for dinner that clearly separate them from other bars. I had the garlic shrimp ravioli, and it was one of the most amazing things I've ever tasted. Did not expect this type of food from a sports bar. The burgers here are good, but not great. I'm a bit of a burger snob and while theirs are not bad, I just don't see them up there with some other places I've been to. The ribs are another good choice to go with. Service has always been good here - I've never had a problem with the bartenders or the serving staff. They've always been prompt and friendly. Like I've seen in other reviews, the crowd here is slightly older - but that also varies depending on when you are there and what games are playing on the overhead screens. Sometimes you are in for a quiet evening, other times you are shouting over others who are having a REALLY good time. A good place overall. If you are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn across the street, you will find this bar very convenient to gravitate towards. Just do not get hit by a car trying to cross the street on your way back to the hotel. read more

This is a hidden gem on route 7. While we didn't eat there this time, the drinks were fantastic. After looking though the menu, I found at least 10 dishes I wanted to try. Their prices are reasonable, the bar is large and friendly and the service is great. We both decided return soon to try a few dishes. read more

Had the worse experience ever, started with the "lump crab stuffed sole"I mean flounder stuffed with "crab". Then it's brought to the attention of the server and was told to the guy hopped up on drinks which was found out to be the owner. He came over to the table and swore it was "sole" and the kitchen didn't know what they were talking about (you mean the people cooking your food. Don't know what they're cooking?) At the same time we ordered dessert to at least have something we know is good. Then all of a sudden the drunk guy comes back and says we don't have to come back and took the flounder off our check. He was belligerent and rude so we told him we didn't want the dessert and took it off the table(creme brulee had some white powdery stuff on top which it never had before). I ltried it with my finger to only find out it was only powdered sugar. I goto pay the bill to only find out he was actually eating the dessert I had returned. Dying to find tavern food that's actually good, not even great, just good. Is that too much to ask? It's definitely too much to ask at this place. How does any place get away with serving food that's so bad? The "chef" doesn't even make an effort and it shows. Stupidly I ordered the ribs. Wow... Should've just gone to Stop & Shop and brought the Lloyds ribs that you can just stick in the oven--much tastier. Save your hard earned money. read more

Wish we can give half stars this is really a 4.5! Found this place on a fluke -- driving around on a shopping excursion. The bartenders are friendly and know their stuff (asked for a T&T, they were out so offered Bombay). We decided to stay for Linner (lunch/dinner) and the calamari was crispy and plentiful and the fish and chips were crispy and full of tender flaky fish! Atmosphere is cozy euro/sports bar feel. Solid place for a quick stop on our way back from NJ during March Madness. We sat at the bar and were a bit of a hurry on a Saturday night to get home but it was dinner time. The food and service were pretty good and quick. Especially liked the option to pay on toast tab with a QR code so we didn't have to wait to process our credit card. I'm in town for a business trip and this is close to my hotel. I came here based on the Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. I was STARVING after a long day of travel and needed something to munch on. When I walked in, I was the only female in the place. This is most definitely a guys bar. There were lots of Latin guys there watching futbol and some business guys having happy hour. Needless to say, I didn't stay long, but I did order the bacon wrapped shrimp and they were absolutely delicious! Tavern on 7 is better than you would expect a "tavern" to be. Really diverse menu and they execute well on all the basics from salads, to wings, to burgers and excellent sandwiches. Prices are good. Service varies and there seems to have been a lot of staff turnover during the past few years. Overall, highly recommended. read more

Mom visited this week and demanded we go to Tavern on 7 to grab a burger. Why? Perfectly cooked medium rare burgers, as she ordered, every time! And she's a burger expert! I'll tell the truth, we visited 3 times in a week. They welcome you at the door, seat you with a smile, ordering is easy with their handheld computers to send orders to the back immediately, the food runner is quick and efficient. Love this staff! Great wings (regular, sorry the boneless are not good!) and Salads are top notch. Lastly, football season means visits to Tavern on 7. NFL + Tavern on 7 = LOVE. No other sports bar will do! TVs on every wall and in every corner, covering every game. Best staff around. read more

Very pleasantly surprised! Laura our server really made our night. We really wanted a nice place to celebrate a special day- unfortunately we were held up with an issue at the hotel and couldn't get out until after 9 pm. The Tavern on 7 was only place opened late on Wednesday. it wasn't too busy and it was a typical sports bar. The restaurant was clean and cozy. We were seated and given a dinner menu after we decided what we wanted Laura had the task of informing us that we were given the wrong menu and has to swap to the late night menu- which did not have our choices in (to our disappointment). With help of Laura we made other choices- all of which were fabulous! We got mild wings (cuz I am pregnant)- they were meaty and delicious the sauce was so good that I asked for extra. The calamari was nicely done- NOT at all rubbery and the marinara was delicious- they also tasted great in the buffalo sauce. I got a house salad topped with a Maryland crab cake- (which Laura told me I could do) - The crab cake was better than one I had at "crab house in VA two weeks ago. My husband couldn't decide between goat cheese salad and the steak salad- so Laura suggested getting steak ON the goat cheese salad- it was tremendous! (Though he wishes he got a crab cake because it was so delicious!) In all the food was Fabulous!. And I was not in the mood to be easily pleased due to the fact that it was the only restaurant left open! Laura really turn the evening around for me and the food was truly a treat! I hadn't been here in years but stopped in with my sister on Saturday for a glass of wine on the patio (to celebrate nothing but 75 degrees in April). I remember liking the food here in the past (and happy to see they still have that badass macadamia crusted brie salad on the menu) but nothing hit the spot like a cold glass of chardonnay on their patio - you almost forget it's right on RT 7! We also split a slice of their Oreo mousse pie which was decadent, yet still light enough to not feel completely weighed down. Gotta say, the beer list was more impressive than I recalled, so I'll have to come back for a cold pint next time I'm visiting the 'rents! read more

Food alone would've earned them at least a 3 star, but I had a big problem with how we were served: (lunch time) -- food is fine at the restaurant, CA burger, salad is amazing, crab cake is a fine appetizer, but the sandwich with it was so-so, pulled pork is slightly spicy but good. -- decor: standard bar w/ LCD TVs. ---but the waitress (I noted her name as well, but will not publish here) is: - slow in bringing water, despite the restaurant not being that busy during the lunch hour and we (12 ppl) had the largest table by far.. (2 of them had made multiple requests for their water, but didn't get it until later, others cannot get water refills) - not very friendly when we ask for water, ketchup, or anything else - took away one of the guest's plate (with fries we were all sharing) without even asking.. though to be fair, she did ask some of the other guests if they wanted the plates removed --- don't like the cash only policy for usage with the coupon (the restaurant normally takes credit card payments) and to have 100+ on a bill and not take credit card is EXTREME. -- forced add on of 18% gratuity is UNREASONABLE... the whole point is that we get to decide how to tip the wait staff. --- will write the same comments on Yelp and OpenTable for this place as well. read more

I've been to Tavern many times while living in Wilton, and I almost felt obligated to write a review after a recent trip there, albeit for the wrong reasons. Stopped in with 3 work colleagues to grab some food and drinks on a snowy Sunday night. Save the bar area, the place was relatively empty, so we banked on a quick meal. There were 2 or 3 waitresses handling tables that night, and ours quickly took a drink order. Again, I've had relatively positive experiences here each time I've stopped by, so the expectation was more of the same at this point. The experience started to go downhill after one of my colleagues actually had to walk over to where she was chatting at the bar to get her attention to take down our food order. Keep in mind, this was a Sunday night in the middle of a February snowstorm, so it wasn't busy. I had ordered the Cajun shrimp for an appetizer, and a burger for the main course. We waited roughly 30 minutes and the main courses were handed out. Unfortunately the shrimp was forgotten - not a huge deal as I was just happy for some food after a long Sunday at work - and the waitress apologized for the mistake. Where we really became disgruntled is when we then finished our meal and proceeded to sit for 25 minutes while our waitress was nowhere to be seen. Again, it's hard for me to knock this place too much. The food is consistently good, and it's a great spot for drinks. I've said it in the past, I don't have an extensive "Yelp resumé" and I don't post reviews often, positive or negative. This experience just left such a bad taste in my mouth, however, that I'm not sure I'll be back anytime soon. read more

Heading to a weekend trip to Vermont with friends we took a break from the road to get a bite to eat. After driving down a long road off a random exit and faced with an Outback or a handful of (and probably bad) pizza joints to choose from, we decided on this restaurant. Half the restaurant is a bar and has a slightly more higher class feel compared to a dive. The crowd is skewed older and we were definitely the only young group in the place. The dining area faces a cute stream and would probably be really cute place for brunch (they are open. There is a big sign promoting it!). The menu was pretty big and offered your typical bar food including a variety of interesting entrees from pasta to ribs. I shared the teriyaki chicken appetizer and the warm goat cheese salad with the bf and while the salad was really good the chicken was nothing to write home about. It was a little dry and a little on the salty side. The salad was paired with an amazing honey vinagerette and was the perfect balance to the strong goat cheese. Others got the penne dish and the ribs which were also very good. We also ordered a side of sweet potato fries and were also very tasty! For the situation and the random spot, I was definitely happy with my meal. It's definitely a good stop to go when your on your way up north and need a good bite to eat. Bread Starter Score: N/A. I was a bit tentative about visiting Tavern 7. I try to eat healthy (or at least to reserve my unhealthy calories for RIDICULOUSLY GOOD FOOD), so I typically avoid pubs. But while there were a few greasy-spoon dishes, the list of deep-fried fare was quite limited, and the menu was full of what I like to call "actual food." By a strange coincidence, I ended up here two nights in a row. The first night, I got the Rare Tuna Salad and the second I got the Grilled Veggie Chiabatta. The Rare Tuna Salad was, indeed, served rare. The tuna itself was bordering on bland, but the side of soy sauce really helped. The baby spinach was drenched in oily dressing which tasted like ... well, this is going to sound bad, but it was actually very good ... very mild peanut butter. It was a little sweet for my taste (I prefer salty dressings), but a quick dunk in the soy sauce balanced it well. Not sure if you were supposed to use the soy sauce in that way, but it's too late now! The grilled veggie chiabatta and the side of veggies were both delicious, but to be honest -- there was so much oil on each, I probably could have just gotten the cheeseburger and fries and held the calorie count roughly even. Service was good. Drink selection was good. Atmosphere was sports bar, loud, and fun. A solid little pub indeed. read more

This little tavern/bar is on Main Avenue, a busy road a few minutes from our home in Silvermine. It gets very crowded for Sunday football and they have a good following for certain soccer events. We most recently came for dinner and to watch the Copa America game (USA vs. Paraguay). The service is pretty good, but the waitresses tend to have a lot of tables they're servicing and so it can be a bit slower to get your drink versus sitting at the bar. We started with the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp and the Boneless Buffalo Wings (medium spice). Both appetizers were good. The wings weren't too spicy, just right. Good portion sizes. We split the Tavern Burger for dinner with cheddar cheese and sweet potato fries. Again, this is your standard bar fare and they don't disappoint. Cooked medium since I'm preggers, but not over cooked we really enjoyed the burger. Sweet potato fries are a winner, as well. This place is also family friendly. The dining room and bar are connected but you'll se families with young children next to a bunch of 20-something football fans. read more

I can't help but love this place. Parking is miserable and sometimes the service is a little slow because of crowds (not talent, the servers here are great!). Most of the time I have a great meal, good beer and great service. Love to come here for lunch in particular, but anytime is fine. read more
