A classic spot on Knox! Have been coming here for years and never disappointed. Service is always great and food is solid. A little bit of a pricier spot for Italian food but the experience is always worth it. I personally prefer their pasta dishes to their pizzas (there are many places in dallas with better pizza). Salads here are also great. Can go ahead and skip the focaccia (too thin to be authentic focaccia, and sometimes comes out burnt). Overall, still one of my favorite Italian restaurants in dallas, with great atmosphere, great service, and good food! read more

Went here for lunch with some friends on a Saturday. We did not make a reservation but luckily were sat immediately. I was surprised as this place was packed to the max. Their patio is dog friendly and semi-covered. I got the Spaghetti Carbonara $20.50. Looks amazing in photos but it was just okay. It was creamy but lacking any real flavor or texture from the pancetta or any other ingredient. I would also say the portion is on the smaller side for what you pay. I did have a few Bellini Mimosa's $3.00 which were good, I usually don't get mimosa's cause I don't like OJ but these were a nice mix up. They need to stop serving the cacio e Pepe. Worst version I have ever had. No cheese flavor, just noodle and bland pepper. I've had it in Italy, NY and all over Dallas; this just wasn't good. The waiter tried to warn me. The bruschetta lacked zing. Usually I get the filete di manzo here and that is excellent! I regretted passing it up. My table mates got specials and those were great. The desserts were all good! Nutella cheesecake is tasty (but little Nutella). The flourless chocolate cake was drool worthy, and the panna cotta was wonderful. I've been here for brunch and my birthday dinner and both were exceptional experiences. It's hard to resist coming here often when we can practically walk here from home. The staff is courteous and service is great. For brunch, they have $2 mimosas at the bar which make your wait so much more enjoyable. If you don't notice though, you could end up drinking one too many before being seated. We ordered the fritto misto for our appetizer both visits and absolutely loved it. The taverna hash for brunch is delicious and the brisket is so tender and perfect. They made my birthday dinner so special when they came out with delicious tiramisu topped with a candle and several servers singing. It was very sweet and memorable. I ordered the paglia e fieno for dinner and it was so amazing. Truffle, mushrooms, chicken and pasta all mixed to perfection. Taverna is quickly becoming one of our favorite Italian restaurants in the area. We've eaten here a couple of times now, and both times, the food has been excellent and the service on point. We had dinner here on St. Patrick's Day to avoid the crowds elsewhere, and it was delicious. We started with an appetizer of charred octopus with potatoes and cherry tomatoes and shared the spaghetti alle vongole (spaghetti with clams). So good! We finished our meal with espresso and their espresso creme brûlée, which was just the right amount of sweet to end the evening. The service was attentive but not over-bearing, and despite the full house, the atmosphere was remained warm and inviting (not too loud). This was our second visit for dinner and had a good time! Our favorite area to sit is in the "alleyway." It has a great ambiance, plants, string lights above and you can't really see the street or cars, so you almost forgot where you are. The service was great, I never had to ask for a refill on my beverage. Our party of four adults and two children started off with the Bruschetta and Fritto Misto. Both delicious! The Bruschetta was fresh and wasn't "soupy." The ciabatta bread was nice and toasty. The Fritto Misto was fantastic, but didn't have too many shrimp. I ordered the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara, which was delicious. It had a nice rich and creamy texture. It was a bit salty, but that's probably due to the pancetta. Two of our party ordered the Whole Wheat Spaghetti Primavera and really enjoyed it. One ordered the Filetto di Manzo and loved it. One ordered the Taglionoli Scampi and didn't like it because it was too fishy. For dessert, we had the Taverna Tiramisú and cheesecake. Both were rich, decadent and delicious. My first time ever here I came here on Mother's Day and was turned away at the door by the manager ever though I had a reservation and I arrived on time, because my full party wasn't there I could not be seated. So outside I was with my mother and newborn while it was sprinkling on us, then a waitress called my name after I had got upset an sat me at a table the manager said Happy Mother's Day on my way in I wasn't to enthused since he almost ruined it. After being seated our waiter Danny did make it better he brought us mimosas which were amazing especially since I had a baby 3 months ago an haven't had a drink in over a year! Food was great I would definitely recommend it wanot to pricey mimosas are only $3 which is always a plus. The manager had an older couple move after getting there drinks an being seated for 5mins due to a bigger party about to arrive and they needed that table, was so rude especially because it was hard enough for the older couple to sit down they had to use the table as support while shaking trying to get back to their feet to move tables with their drinks. Even though I gave this place 3 stars I give Danny 5 stars I even tipped him 50% so just being amazing an making my experience better! As we were leaving (with a stroller) this place is definitely not wheelchair or stroller friendly I had to move a whole table to get my baby out. It does come with a healthy amount of parmigiana cheese. If you prefer less cheese, I suggest you let the server know. Portion size was such that I brought some home for the next day. Tables are close together, but not uncomfortable. Please are happy and clearly enjoying themselves. It's hard not to laugh and have a good time. Wine list is pretty broad. what a huge disappointment for brunch after having a nice bike session at Katy Trail. I haven't had brunch in a good while so we strolled along to Taverna to catch some delicious food. My friends said their lunch was delicious when they went so we were hoping their brunch was just as good. The setting is great, especially during patio weather. Plus you can people watch :D There are about 10 tables outside so you must get there quick. We actually came right when they opened at 10am. Their Bellinis and mimosas are $2. Mimosas are so good, my friends got Bellinis which if you are a peach fan you will enjoy. I had to rush the restroom before I got to order my mimosa. When I came back the waiter took a while to get back to our table and I was getting a bit impatient because I really wanted a mimosa in my mouth. We browsed the menu and I honestly only wanted some eggs and bacon. So a friend and I split the shrimp asparagus omlette and instead of the shrimp we got chicken. My other friend got the crabs Benedict. The food was kind of bland. Nothing really special about it. The crabs benedict barely even had crab in it and it didnt seem very seasoned at all. Our omlette was okay and the same with the chicken, it did not seem seasoned. Our potatoes were okay as well, not much of a taste to them. My bacon was awesome :D but i had to leave a few pieces that were not cooked at all, so the waiter brought me out a fresh plate of bacon. Came here on a nice 65 degree Saturday afternoon for some brunch and immediately loved the ambiance. It's not a huge restaurant but it's cozy and it really promotes the outside patio area where it's the perfect place for some people watching. The prices, while slightly on the higher side, are definitely not as bad as some of the surrounding restaurants. Our waiter was nearby pretty much at all times during a Saturday full-packed brunch service. The food on the other hand, took quite a while. For four people who ordered similar items, the total wait was probably an hour for our food. Luckily, I was with some good company and the color of the mimosas were pretty clear (light on the O.J.). So after about 6 mimosas I wasn't as concern with the passing time. As an appetizer we started with a dessert: beignets. They were just okay for me. The little round beignets were not too sweet by themselves only coated lightly with powdered sugar. The cappuccino sauce that it came with was the real money maker for me. For my brunch meal I ordered the Eggs al forno all 'olio tartufato. 2 pan-fried eggs with breakfast sausage served with garlic bread with truffle oil and breakfast potatoes. I have nothing to complain about other than maybe they added a little too much truffle oil to the eggs. But everything came out hot and the eggs were runny in the middle, just how I like them. A buddy of mine ordered the special, which was chicken parmesan with the same sides as mine and it was incredibly good. This, plus the mimosas and friends, made my morning quite enjoyable. read more

TLDR; The Whole Wheat Spaghetti Primavera is amazing. I am so impressed! I told my waiter to surprise me with something from the pasta selection. I got my dish with no ideas what it was, and it looked like something I would've never ordered. To my surprise I cleaned the dish clean. Bad service, bad food, rude management. If I could have given it less than a star- I would. We had issues from the second we sat down at a table not suitable to the group size we booked for in advance, later food arrived sporadically and cold, dishes were inedible and our waiter did everything in his power to offer 0 service. When we had to unfortunately return dishes because they were over cooked, blend and not as requested we received them back to the table in sane condition less then a minute later (we literally saw the waiter leaving them on counter and picking them back up). When speaking to manager she wasn't accommodating or apologetic and later on even took it one step too far (when I approached her over 30 minutes past us requesting the check) and shoved her hands in my face and raised her voice stating "she is taking care of it". At the end nothing was taken care of, no one apologized and we waisted over 2.5 hours on not receiving service. This was never about money but basic service and humanity and that was a failure from beginning to end. Food was bad, service was bad, management couldn't care less. This is a cute little spot in uptown and though I enjoyed my meal with my small party that had come for a birthday dinner, the customer service was a bit lacking. When bringing out our appetizers a waiter had spilled a bowl of marinara on my friend, it was an accident and it happens. Thankfully he was wearing black! Another mishap was that when they brought out another appetizer a different waiter had spilled marinara on the table place in front of me. Besides these hiccups, I enjoyed my food, my pasta was yummy, but when it came to spice and flavor, I found myself adding spices that were available on the table. The grotto misto I believe it's called was good, and was supposed to be a fried seafood medley, was majority veggies and had a few pieces of shrimp and calamari. Small little Italian restaurant on Knox and although the vibes and ambiance were great. The food was mediocre to say the least. I got the cacio a pepe with chicken added and the best thing about this dish was the Parmesan added at the table. My pasta dish had pasta water at the bottom of the plate... this dilated the flavor so I felt like I was just eating boiled spaghetti noodles at that point and the Parmesan was my only seasoning. I'm sad to say that you can save your money and get the Trader Joe's frozen version and it is at least 10 times better and no, I'm not exaggerating. My friends and I all split some appetizers and those were much better than my pasta. However, we did get the bruschetta and caprese salad so no cooking required for these. Our service was much better than my entree which is good? Very accommodating. It was our friend's birthday so he brought out a tiramisu with a birthday sparkler and one of the other staffers came out singing happy birthday in Italian! A very nice touch to end the night. And the tiramisu tasted wonderful! Crazy that a free dessert tasted better than my paid entree! I've been here so many times, I always have had amazing service and great food. The staff couldn't be friendlier and more accommodating.

We just had dinner on the dog friendly patio. The service was excellent and they even brought water for our little puppy. We had the meatballs for an appetizer. There were 8-9 meatballs so they were not only good, it was a generous portion. For dinner I had the Frutti Di Mare. It was one of the best I've had. The sauce was rich and flavorful. I've eaten at Taverna many times and really like their Italian food. This was my first trip out post (during) covid. So, I opted to get there once it opened at 10am for brunch to grab an outdoor table. This was really easy and our waiter had a mask on. I felt completely comfortable, at first. However, the servers bringing your food, refilling your water glass, or even bringing Parmesan cheese for your pizza did NOT wear a mask. By time we got our food, the place was packed (full waiting line), so how many people was he walking by/interacting with before coming back to my table? The manager also came by in a suit and NO mask. I get not requiring patrons to wear it and the spacing out, but servers that are over my food/refilling my water should be wearing a mask right now. I won't be back during covid and would rather go to restaurants that require all staff to wear masks. read more
