I felt like the tables were slightly too close together - I'm not a fan of having to regularly scootch (sp?) my body or chair so a server can squeeze by in between tables. One of the better Italian places in Dallas and those are hard to find. The lemon sole was pretty good but sadly not the best food I've had here. I wanted to be healthier but would recommend sticking to the other options. Now the tortellini is absolutely amazing every time. I visited this place for the first time yesterday and I ordered the Carbonara and was mildly disappointed by the pasta as it was under seasoned in my opinion. I understand that Italian pasta typically doesn't add a lot of seasonings to begin with by nature, but my pasta was very under salted to the point that I had to add some more salt, pepper, and chili flakes myself. Once I seasoned it, the pasta tasted much better. Additionally I tried some of my friend's garlic flatbread and that was especially tasty so maybe it's recommended to try their pizzas and flatbread over the pastas. read more

Sunday was buy one get one. We've been doing this for a long time. Our server today was a bit dinghy. We ordered a Henry Cipriani and a bloody Mary. Asked for the bloody Mary to be not very spicy. We got a peach Bellini and a really spicy bloody Mary. my husband ordered a salad that was supposed to be tomatoes, beets, pinenuts, burrata and pesto. He got a salad that was tomatoes, beets, green beans, what looked and tasted like feta instead of Buratta, no pesto and no pine nuts. I ordered French toast with honey, cinnamon, butter, and bacon. French toast was good, not a hint of honey or cinnamon in the butter and the bacon was all fried in a big clump. Better luck next time. read more

i've been to princi over the years and overall have had good experiences- tonight wasn't great- the service was beyond slow. we had to approach the bar to get our glasses of wine 40 minutes later! The waitress was nice but wow slow slow slow- took a long time to get drinks, food, everything.... eventually we got everything we wanted but when you have young kids, that's not enough. They don't offer any table bread so the kids were hangry hangry. It took a long time to even get the flat bread so we at least had something to eat. Another downside was the noise- super loud! I barely could hear the person talking next to me and had to lean in. The noise was really bad, not enjoyable. The food was good overall- the burrata salad was meh- they had changed it from the photos here on yelp which looked way better than what they are serving now with is burrata cheese and just some cooked whole tomatoes- it was odd and not as good as i was hoping it would be. I enjoyed the salmon dish- would recommend that one. I originally wanted the sole dish that i saw on yelp but they don't have that anymore. Not a good experience tonight sadly. First time in, met my husband for early dinner after work. Sat at the nice wood bar with a huge wine selection, and comfortable seating. I'm not experienced choosing a wine, so I informed the bartender what I liked and he poured me a nice tasty red blend. It wasn't very busy when we first arrived but within an hour, that place was full, with almost every table occupied! We started off with the Gorgonzola Fig Bruschetta, love figs, but may have had a bit too much and not enough Gorgonzola cheese? Flavors are good together, topped with Balsamic. We ordered a pizza 1/2 Pepperoni 1/2 All Meat. I liked the pizza, pepperoni side may have been a little greasy ( I think to be expected) and the other side perfect! Wretched Meal: I have eaten here for years and it has been a B or B- meal. Consistently moderately tasting food. Tonight was a train wreck of a pizza. I asked for crispy. It came out wet and soggy. About as much texture as wet lasagna. Time to skip this place. Go across the street to Campisi's. The server asked if we wanted a new pizza. There was no need for a redo after the other guests at the table had already had their meal served. A restaurant knows when they serve a disaster of a pizza. It's not rocket science and I am not a foody. This was a miss and it's the second time in six months. Again, skip this place and go to Campisi's directly across the street. It's 9:37 pm and a wasted dinner at Princi Italia. No need to reply with the standard response. Your manager can ask diners how their meal / dining experience. No reservations so no inside for you! A little tough in the Texas heat, but they have fans and shade so we gave it a go. It was tolerable only because of the breeze. Our bad, but in our defense, we had tried another place that did not take reservations and it had a 90 minute wait - we said no to that. Service by Justin was friendly and excellent. He was attentive, offered suggestions, and his recommendations proved to be great. Food was pretty good but can't say great. The pepperoni pizza had a good flavor, but the thin crust was not crisp, except slightly on the very edge. The wide boar gnocchi was ok, but probably would not order again. I do not know how this restaurant remains open. Perhaps our experience was singular and intentional, it's not possible to know. We were seated promptly, service was somewhat slow in an empty restaurant. Ordered simple drinks which took forever. Started with calamari and Caesar salads, fine, average, but not horrible. The one star was earned by the cacio e Pepe. When it arrived at the table swimming in pasta water I knew. Then we were asked if we wanted cheese and pepper. Do you even know what cacio e Pepe is? Overcooked slimy noodles in an indescribable sauce. Inedible would be an understatement. I sat, staring at the crime that should have been a lovely meal for 5 minutes before our waiter decided to stop chatting with the hostess and check on us. The manager offered to "buy" me something else. Dinner had been ruined and we left. No apologies. I doubt I have had worse service or food. This review is for take-out service only. On May 23, 2023 at 5:30 pm, we ordered 2 pizzas, gnocchi, and a salad for takeout. I arrived at the requested time, parked in one of two designated takeout parking places along Royal Lane, and called to inform the restaurant that I was there for my order. Then nothing. Ten minutes passed and no food was brought out to me. I called again to ask the status of my order and told it would be right out. Still took another 5-7 minutes to bring out my order. Then, when I arrived home, I found that the pizza was soggy, the gnocchi was cold, and the lettuce in our salad was not fresh. Not a good experience. read more

If you're at the bar, Tommy is the best! I probably come to Princi 1-2 times a month and it never disappoints. For starters I get the Tortellini Fonduta, it's a great truffle sauce and good to share if you also get a flatbread or soup. Their mussels are amazing!!! Big enough to share as well but if you're a seafood lover you might eat the whole thing. The MLP pizza is my favorite but you can't go wrong with the other options. Get a reservation on the busier nights, it's decent sized but fills up quick. read more

Our first time here was very good, before the 2019 tornado, and we were very impressed. Our second time (dine in), August 2020, not so much. Service was not very warm, we never even got a hello, or goodbye, thanks for coming. I've been leaving a minimum of 20% tip since the pandemic but this time I left 15% and that was probably generous. The food was mediocre. We liked the bruschetta but that was about it. My black pepper fettuccine did not taste like a composed dish. Every ingredient had its own flavor but they did not come together. Something was very bitter that overpowered everything else. The wife's veal also was odd. It came with a lot of sauce but nothing to soak it up, no bread, no pasta. She was not given a spoon. Was she supposed to leave the sauce? I asked for bread and they charged $5. Wow. I did not like the fact that tables are not social distanced. We were the only table in the restaurant and then someone else came and they were seated right next to us and the tables were not 6 feet apart. Come here regularly and it's always good and the service is too. It's decorated for Christmas and has a warm, neighbor hood feeling. Their truffle tortellini app is always my go to. We ate here with a party of 8, everything was fine and we enjoyed our time. At Thanksgiving the food was one of the best meals we have ever eaten. There seemed to be a miscommunication with our server and he brought the wrong dish but I did not want to hold my party up as it had taken us 30 minutes to get our food. It is worth noting that it was served "deconstructed" which made it a bit difficult to eat. However, the dressing was perfect and the crouton added a satisfying crunch. I visited Princi Italia for dinner with a group of co-workers. Despite the 3.5-star average rating, I was hopeful about the meal because the menu read well. We did have to wait for a while for a table to open up as we had a larger group of 8. This probably could have been managed better as we did call in advance to be put on the list. Margarita and 3-Cheese Flatbreads - Both varieties were fine but nothing special. I would classify these as mini pizzas rather than flatbreads as they were round and the crust was on the thicker side. I will note that we still didn't have any napkins or silverware when our appetizers arrived. Pork Shank - The pork shank itself was tender but the risotto was visibly undercooked and there was hardly any pan jus. I requested more sauce but it took so long to come out that the rest of the table had finished their meals by the time I got it. My best advice: Ask for Justin. He raises the bar on customer experience. We are very discerning and a tough group. I came with my parents the night before Thanksgiving... The tables in the back of the restaurant in the corner toward the wine bar now are the best. We were fortunate enough to be seated there. Im with Amazon and 2 months ago had been to the location in Plano w Chewy Execs. We loved the meal and I raved about it to my parents and even brought home some of the pasta which they loved...Which made them want to come back... Which is ironically right by their house at Preston and Forest, so here we are at Thanksgiving and they brought us here tonight for a special pre-Thanksgiving dinner meal. My dad and mom are very discerning and my dad needed extra TLC during this meal. He expected the moon and Justin delivered. He was patient, empathetic, compassionate and kind. He finessed the ins and outs of the evening w/Grace and class! My parents left w a smile on their faces and happy customers. Justin was a major part of this experience! I love the patio here. It's remniscent of Fireside Pies on Henderson, remember that? Big tree right in the middle of it. Service was great. The menu is fairly typical of Italian. I should have ordered more but I had appetizers at home so I can't truly speak of an entree. But my appetizer, the calimari and shrimp, was underwhelming. Went for an early dinner on a gloomy Saturday. Arrived at 5:45 and was shuttled to a table for 2 at the bar,through the nearly empty dining room. A group was at the bar, overserved, talking over each other, and ultimately shouting. A table for six was shortly seated next to us, right in front of the servers' area at the bar. They left after appetizers and a quick glass of wine. Dinner, chicken piccata, was at the level of IHOP. The broccoli rabe needed a steak knife. Our second cocktail order never arrived, so we cancelled. What was a nice neighborhood dinner place now has the atmosphere of a sports bar. The inexperienced front staff seated us at the loud bar, carefully walking us through the dining room, to avoid the noise there. The waiter, however, did a great job, although appeared exasperated. You will do better to go to any of the surrounding Italian restaurants, unless you want to relive your frat parties from college. read more
