I made dinner reservations on OpenTable a week ago. Taverna Kyma is located on the east side Federal Highway at the corner of Foresyth Street with lots of free parking. Our reservation was honored, we did not have a wait. The restaurant felt like we were in Mykonos, lots of blue and white and photos from Greece. I love the open kitchen with a huge charcoal grill. There was a patio in the back and a big party room that can accommodate 80 with a very nice family style menu. Martha waited on us and she was attentive. Initially, we felt very rushed with the wine menu taken away before we all had a chance to look. Minutes after our appetizers came out our entrées were placed on the table. The manager was very accommodating and was able to slow our meal down so we could enjoy each other's company as well as the food. The menu looks delicious with lots of healthy salads, soups, hot, and cold mezze, fish, kebabs, grilled meats and all the Greek dishes that I love. The most difficult part was making a choice. Happily all six of us chose something different. I enjoyed my Greek white wine and started with a scallop appetizer while my husband had calamari and we shared the roasted lamb entree. The scallops were grilled to perfection, juicy on a bed of orzo with spinach and vegetables. The roasted lamb was so tender, sweet and flavorful. Friends enjoyed their salads, stuffed peppers, Bronzino and shrimp. Portions were generous they were really family style. This is one of my old time favorite restaurants. I have many happy memories of gatherings with friends and families here. One of my favorites was when my son got me to dance on the tables! This afternoon, we enjoyed a delicious lunch here. If you go before 3 PM, you can get a meal for less than half of a dinner. My friend and I enjoyed the lamb chop lunch special that came with 2 lamb chops, salad and French fries. It was fantastic! It was very quiet as we ate outside. We were the only ones there. Even my dog enjoyed the leftover bones! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Boca Raton. It is one of the nicest places to enjoy a meal. read more

Just came in to pick up my take out. Manager was running wild about two other orders and could not get it right. The people waiting for their orders were mad. After patiently waiting over 10 minutes without being asked anything, I asked the poor overwhelmed hostess about my order. She said she didn't even get it. I pointed out to her it was on the tablet screen in plain view sitting there. She wrote it down and then manager came back yelling at her and she put it down. 5 minutes later I asked if even started yet, and she said no. So over 20 minute time not even started. The manager was complaint about being busy when only 5 tables in the whole place were full. I canceled my whole order and left with nothing Don't worry though, you just lost a customer that won't be returning so you'll be less busy hopefully. My family has been coming here for years, it's definitely our top favorite! We've come for birthdays, holidays, and even catered from them on Christmas. I've tried most of their seafood dishes, and there has not been a single item that didn't amaze us. The flavors are so unique and delectable. Today we went for Mother's Day, and they offered everyone a complimentary glass of champagne. Each table was decorated with beautiful small flowers, and the entire restaurant had lovely balloons. The service is always so friendly, welcoming, and hard working. I had the Santorini Shrimp and Athens in Boca for the first time, which were both incredible with bold flavors! I come down to Boca in the winter months. I have yet to not go to this beautiful restaurant that has authentic delicious Greek food today I opt for the lambs. It is so succulent and seasoned just perfectly. I like mine medium rare. Today Roxana was our waitress She was right there for all I needs and our questions and any other thing that happens. This place has all the makings of an authentic Greek Taverna - bustling with conversation, Greek music, fresh fish at the fish counter, olive trees, and a bangin' menu. Must dos from the appetizer list: dolmades, beets, and the hummus and bread they bring to the table. Our seared scallops were unfortunately overcooked but given how yummy everything was I'd say this was just a fluke. For dinner we tried the roasted lamb - absolutely delicious, lamb chops - very good, and the moussaka. All excellent choices. Service is very quick and attentive. The restaurant is buzzing. For my last night visiting my friend in Boca Raton, she took me to Taverna Kyma for happy hour, 2 for 1 glasses of wine, and small plates. It was a TREAT! We sat at the bar and engaged in pleasant conversation with our bartender/server. The house made hummus is creamy and delicious. My friend also ordered one to take home! The grilled calamari was tossed with spinach and spices. It was tender, not chewy, just the right texture. The Greek tacos were divine! The lamb melted in your mouth. The Spanakopita was heaven! It was stuffed with an abundant amount of spinach. The phyllo dough was not too flaky. There is plenty of free parking in the lot. Pleasant music is played quietly throughout the restaurant. There is a tv for your enjoyment at the bar. Overall it was a most enjoyable experience. I highly recommend Taverna Kyma. I look forward to returning again in the near future. read more

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner as our first time experience. Our server was very attentive, friendly and accommodating. The complimentary pita and hummus was delicious. The zucchini chips and beet and citrus salad were the perfect starters. My husband and I shared the grilled seafood board and it was amazing. You get a whole branzino, shrimp, calamari, octopus and rice. Everything was cooked perfectly and was just enough for the 2 of us. It would also make a great appetizer for 4-6 people. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. This is my favorite restaurant in Boca Raton. The food is absolutely delicious and you can tell how much work is put into each food item. My favorite thing on the menu is the Greek kale salad I honestly don't even like kale and this salad is absolutely fantastic. It's also my number one craving this pregnancy so I've definitely had this salad like 14 times the last month. Their hummus and pita is delicious as well. They have great lunch specials. I recommend the chicken kebab which comes with Yaiyai's veggies. The Greek Horiatiki salad is fantastic. The fries are incredible. The grilled octopus is the best I've ever had. I'm a big fan of Taverna Kyma! I don't think it gets the attention it deserves since it's not on Atlantic Ave. both times I've been here, it's been great! The pita and hummus is amazing! You can tell it's freshly made. All the food is great and the service is good as well. I ordered the lam platter and it was pretty good but the lamb was a bit too fatty for my tasting. My mom got the filet mignon platter and it was delicious! I also love the interior decor which really makes you feel like you're in Greece. read more

Great Greek food in Boca. We really enjoyed our meals here last week. Here's what we'd suggest: -Make a reservation. It gets busy -If you're driving, be very careful in that parking lot. It's a tight space -Make sure you get some kind of seafood dish and a salad. The food came out quick but I finished my water and waited quite a long time for the server to come refill it. The chicken was amazing - tender, juicy, perfect. The salad was ok. ONE olive... yes it's a side salad but still... one? Feta was incredible. Fries were great, just little in size. First I want to say that I never leave a review about any place that I have ever eaten at but I have to say they are horrible.The worst service ever. I ordered two entrees for lunch today for pick up. They got the order totally wrong after we confirmed it twice before picking up. I called to let them know they gave us the wrong item. They proceeded to say sorry but it happens sometimes , come back and we will have it ready for you. The chicken was raw, they left out the fries and proceeded to say Happy birthday? It's not my birthday so I don't get that at all. My coworker had to leave work early because she ended up with a very upset stomach after eating the lamb. The place was empty when I went in to pick it up so to make a mistake with only two entrees in beyond inept. I wish I could say this is not the first time that they messed up our order but definitely the last. We will never frequent this place again. Also the front entrance was very dirty, dust growing on the pictures and bench at the entrance and random garbage (straw paper and what appeared to be a used napkin) on the floor in the dining area. The food is wonderful, but recently, in the past month when we have been twice the servers are horrifically slow. First, I would like to highlight the food though because it's not fair that the poor service at this restaurant be its downfall. On our table, 2 of us had the braised lamb shank, 4 had the large whole fish all of these were perfectly cooked. One person had the chicken skewers with french fries and salad. The lamb and fish were both incredible.. The free hummus with pita that you get for your table is absolutely delicious. Now for the description of service The first time we were a party of 7 adults and one child, the server spyridon forgot about us and we just disappear and when the food would come out, they would leave our table full of plates, telling us that they would be back for them, but they never came. Or water was never refilled without wanting us having to stand up multiple times to ask someone to refill it. After eating, we were just left there. No one asked us about dessert or anything. First, I got up to ask the server to bring us the bill. He scolded me and told me to sit down and that he would bring it. He never brought it /15 minutes later I had to get up to ask someone else to get us the bill-they brought it we paid we left because we were a party of more than six, the 20% gratuity was automatically added. I just paid this because I wanted to get out. We had already spent two hours of the evening for a one course meal, but it is incredibly disappointing. If you're going to charge the 20% that's fine but at least provide service. Don't use it as an excuse to completely forget about your table since you're getting the tip either way We tried again, two weeks later when family was visiting and arrived for our 4:45 reservation, the restaurant was completely empty - new server, a younger guy with a lovely smile, very friendly and kind he took our drink order, but didn't return to take the order for our mains until we called him over after nearly 40 minutes of waiting for him. When the dishes arrived, we still have the plates on the table from the bread and hummus, and we ask them to clear this so there will be more space on the food for the entrées. However, the woman bringing out the food told us she would send the server, but the server never came. We ended up taking the plates and putting them on an empty table nearby. The level of service at this place is just so disappointing and something needs to be done. It's such a shame because the food is absolutely incredible and the ambience is so lovely. You feel like you're being transported to a taverna on an island in greece - the string lights are so romantic. And truly, I think it's more of an issue with management and the serving staff. Perhaps they're understaffed however you always see so many servers so not quite sure what's going on. If they fix the service issues, this would be a 4 or 5 star restaurant easily. read more

Wow - what a disappointment! I couldn't wait to go here when I came back to the Boca area. Table dirty and sticky - couldn't get menus unstuck. Server said it was the humidity, but I pointed out a blob of paper napkin stuck to the table from a previous diner, and she grudgingly sprayed and wiped the table. Service was ungracious - snark with a smile. Greek salads (yes, only one olive on mine), zucchini chips and lamb chop all very good. I asked for a dish on the menu that offered some grilled vegetables with some red peppers, and the waitress feigned ignorance until I found a shrimp dish which arrived with 2 small shrimp and 1/2 of a miniature red pepper - not grilled but baked with the skin still on. When the check came, we wanted to pay for what we each ordered, and the waitress asked us rather rudely to tell her what each of us owed, rather than kindly helping us add up our orders, since they won't allow separate checks. Now, I see that the reviews from the previous months are very mixed and markedly low - especially for service. I'm embarrassed I invited friends to go with me tonight - raving about the place. Something is very wrong. Observed a couple of other Angry patrons near us too. Won't rush back. read more

The food is absolutely fantastic and it is by far the best Greek restaurant in town. Every dish I've had has been fantastic with my favorite being the lamb ribs and the plaki. The Greek salad is also fantastic. It's prepared without lettuce in the traditional way. The only thing that I would say is that the service is very inconsistent. Sometimes you wait a long time for the waiters to come over at the beginning and sometimes it takes a very long time for them to get your check if the management team could fix that I would bump my rating to five star. Having said that I still think the food shines enough that it warrants going. I have never had a bad meal here. read more

Very unpleasant experience. We were initially seated at a table directly by the door and waiter station and asked to be moved. The manager told us all other tables were reserved, yet those tables remained empty for the entire duration of our meal. Then, the tap water tasted very strange. There were screaming children running around the restaurant, which made it difficult to enjoy the atmosphere. Service was poor--our table was not proactively cleared at any point. While I have empathy for staff working during the holidays, that does not excuse rudeness toward customers. The manager, in particular, was rude and condescending. The female bartender was extremely rude, we tried to give her our order and before finished she just walked away. Never smiled not at all welcoming and just plain rude. My friend ordered the filet mignon skewer and it came out basically raw. I ordered a blueberry margarita, and it was weak as anything and watered down. When we asked for the bill the 3 of us sitting at bar were told we had to have one check. This is ridiculous at a bar. We all ordered much different price points and one of us didn't even drink. We asked for the manager and he said this is my rule. We told him you can't force people who sit at a bar to have share a check. He reluctantly agreed to give us separate checks with an attitude. I tried to pay with my open table gift card after ordering the gift card with the app and making a reservation using the app and my card as policy with open table states. The manager refused to accept my gift card claiming the restaurant did not get notification of anyone trying to use the card and therefore refused to accept it even though I was showing him the card. Over all a horrible experience. Been coming here for years. NO MORE!!!! To many great places to eat around not to have to put op with such rude service and bad food. read more

He prepared the fish for us so it was easier to eat, he was super friendly and had great recs on what to order!
