Meh! You probably had to pass several underrated Mexican food restaurants to get to this one. We went there last night. The first thing I saw was a sign boasting their cheese enchilada was voted best enchilada in 2023. You know I had to try that. The wait staff was friendly although it took a while to get our drink order. We found the red and green sauce and chips to be good. The home made corn tortillas were excellent. We ordered two shrimp enchiladas and of course one cheese enchilada. We also ordered the bean soup and the stuffed jalapeños. The shrimp enchiladas were very good. The poblano sauce topping was tasteful. I did not find the cheese enchilada to be worth the hype. It was bland. The yellow queso was pretty good. It seemed to be real cheese. The bean soup was probably the best feature out of the whole evening but only if you like bacon because it definitely had quite a bit of that. The stuffed jalapeños, however, were something else. They were two to a plate and very oversized. I went through a lot of cheese and breading for the first couple of bites before I actually found the shrimp it was supposed to be stuffed with. It only had one shrimp in it which was unpeeled! Also, the cheese:breading wad only had a sliver cut from a jalapeño. Not worth the price. I sent them back. When we got the check, they did not take the stuffed jalapeños off. I guess the waiter conveniently forgot. Also, tea drinker beware! They charged 3.50 for a glass of unsweetened mango tea. They charge $1.00 for the mango shot in the tea and $1.00 per fill up. My tea for the evening cost $6.50. Once he adjusted the check we paid and walked out. Wont be going back. Mexican restaurants are on every corner so the competition is tough. Ya can't fool this Gringo! I think they are overpriced and over rated. read more

Food was great. We have been there 4 times since it opened in August. Chips and salsa are very good. Homemade corn tortillas are awesome. They have a variety of foods and sauces. The Margaritas are very good!! Our server has been Gabby and she is very friendly. Enjoyed being able to see the Astros while we dined. read more

Found this gem on 2920. Cute place and super friendly staff. Drinks were delicious, especially the cucumber jalapeno margarita. Husband had a small combo platter and he said everything was very good. I had the seafood enchiladas and they were some of the best I've ever had. Stuffed with mushrooms, shrimp and crawfish. The white wine cream sauce was fantastic. This is a great place for Tex-mex food my favorite here being the fajitas. Especially on Wednesdays when they typically have a 2 for 1 deal on the fajitas which makes it an excellent value. Tried this for the first time and it was so-so. It was overpriced in my opinion, especially for how bland the food was. Rice and Salsa were decent but chicken was extremely unseasoned and bland. Wow!!!! What a great find! If you are looking for outstanding TexMex, this is your place. Everything was made fresh. I am a puffy taco aficionado. Tavos served the best puffy tacos I've had outside of San Antonio. Hubby had an enchilada combo. If you love cheese and fresh made cream sauce on your enchiladas, this is the place for you! It was meh..gave them 3 for their service because it was decent but nothing extraordinary. The food, like I said meh, I got excited because of the sign outside that had all this food but than turns out they didn't have it. So i ordered tacos but sadly no flavor just very bland. All in all, there are other Mexican places in the area with better quality. read more

Stopped in this afternoon and had the cadillac margarita and chunky guacamole to share. The app was delicious as were the margaritas that my husband and I enjoyed. My husband ordered the carnitas enchiladas mole as his entree and he raved about the mole. I had the half order of beef quesadilla. We both left satisfied. The staff is very nice, and the restaurant clean and pleasant. They have lots of specials during the week. Give it a try. You won't regret it! read more

New Kid on the Block with deep family roots to the area. Have been here several times since they opened it's our "Go To" for Mexican. Huge selection of Margarita's and Fajita's and I think they are The Best around. Tamale's and Charro beans to die for and again, the Best I have ever had. The Salsa and Chips are a telling sign if they su*k then the food most likely will s*ck, so I say the salsa and chips are the the BEST. Seriously the Red Salsa is the "Boamb"!!! The food had really good taste. We ordered the fish Cancun, fish Vallarta, chicken mole enchilada, queso flameado, chimichanga, and flautas. Alll was soo delicious. For desert we had flan and tees leches. The aguas frescas and lemonade are authentic not from syrup. the service was so good too. Very attentive and professional. First time is the charm in regards to our first visit to Tavos Mexican Grill Spring. We were excited to try this fairly new restaurant, and were motivated by their 5 star reviews. The restaurant is cozy and bright. They had the Astros game playing on a Saturday night and the Latin music was low enough to have a conversation fairly well. The restaurant had several tables that could be put together to accommodate a large party or group. The restrooms and dining area are clean. The staff was exceptional!!! We were warmly greeted by Yolanda. The wait staff were incredibly attentive and we were treated like VIP customers. The adult beverages are really good. There is a huge assortment of beverages to choose from. The drinks are strong, and refreshing. The margarita flight is a really fun way to try several of their flavors. You can choose salt or tajin on any of the rimmed drinks. The food is tasty. The fajita meat you can cut with a butter knife. The rice is well seasoned and the charro beans are flavorful. The Queso is good!! I had Birria tacos. They were not what I was expecting they were a bit dry and the sauce was on the spicy side. When I think of Birria tacos, I think of saucy and cheesy, with a lot of extra sauce to dip it in. But, the food is high quality, and I would be happy to return to try other options on their menu. They have a variety of foods and really good combo options. For dessert, the banana empanadas, are sweet and chocolatey. Overall impression: Crowd pleaser and a must try. read more
