    C7. GRILLED BARBECUE PORK CHOP
    Tony A.

On a lovely spring day in April, I went to lunch at Tay-Ho, Vietnamese Cuisine at its Finest. The building is very nice and very accommodating. Tay-Ho has been in this space since at least 2015 and seems to be doing very well for itself. I met up with my wife and our mutual friend Sadie for lunch. We ordered two orders of the A1. Crispy Spring Rolls which were nice and crispy. My wife, if I recall, got the B1 Grilled BBQ Pork bowl. I had the T5 Grilled BBQ Pork special grill platter. The food hit the mark on this day. The flavors were good, and everything was well seasoned. Just take a glance at my lovely photos and they speak for themselves. We don't around to this part of town often but if you're in the area give Tay-Ho a try.

Nice large room, seems very clean. The pho came out quick and portions were large. Flavorful and filling. Nice place

overall the food is good. I prefer other spots for Vietnamese food in Richmond but this place is not that bad. Restaurant is clean and well decorated. Unfortunately, the service was super slow since there was only one server taking care of all the tables. He was super nice but I could tell he was overwhelmed. Maybe restaurant was down a few servers and I just caught them at a bad time.

Bff and I caught up here and it was so good! The parking lot want that full, but I can imagine it getting pretty full easily, so I'm glad it wasn't. The server was at the host stand when we got there, very friendly, and we are one of maybe 4 or 5 tables with guests. Bff got a noodle soup dish she remembered but wasn't on the menu, and the server recognized it when she described it. My appetizer plate and her noodle soup dish were delicious, very yummy! I'm bout the biggest fan of Vietnamese good, but the appetizers were spot on asmr bff enjoyed her soup thing!

Food was delicious. Loved the shrimp wontons! They were super full of shrimp and surprisingly really filling. The pho, wonton soup, and Thai tea were great too! Clean and spacious. Service was kind of slow. Otherwise great!

Tay-Ho is a nice option for pho. They have plenty of seating, which makes it easy for big groups. The service is always friendly and prompt. My go-to's are the cha gio and pho tai.

This was my second time coming here (first time was about 4-5 years ago), and my favorite part of the restaurant is the wide variety of food items to try. The food is also very reasonable price and the place does not skimp out on quality and quantity. Most viet places have pho as their main dish but we especially loved the C1 grilled barbecue pork and M1 Vietnamese beef stew. My mom loves to make the wraps in C1, and for $14, it was very worth it. I got the P3; the broth was strong and flavorful. I think the flank steak and brisket were chewier than usual, so maybe they were cooked for too long and then added to the pho bowl. I was a bit disappointed with M10 because the broth was not as flavorful as I hoped. It was a clean, colorless broth, but even those can still have a good flavor profile. It also just came with shrimp, fish balls, and pork-- which I think is a bit basic. Surprisingly, I quite liked M1 Vietnamese beef stew because the soup was strong and thick and the beef chunks were nice, soft, and unexpectedly big. Still, the meat tore away very easily, and the dish was not spicy at all (maybe just a little bit oily). The ambiance was quiet and dim when we came in. There were no lights on except the blinding lighting from outside. I'm not a fan of places that use really dim lighting because it's hard to see and doesn't create a warm restaurant environment. The environment was clean and decorated in a minimal modern way. Most decor was plants and nice lights that hung from the ceiling. Parking is very easy to find and there are plenty of spots of pick from. I have mixed opinions on the customer service. We were greeted quickly and he sat us at a booth. My only issue with the booth was that is was sopping wet and wasn't dried at all, not even a weak attempt to dry it. The food service itself was fast, and I felt like the two staff members were rushing when taking our orders and distributing utensils and food. Perhaps we just came at a bad time and they were in the middle of dinner prep. I'd probably come back again for some more pho though.

Was craving soup with the chilly weather so we stumbled upon this place. My boyfriend and I got the Pho Dac Biet which is a combination of meats. The broth was very flavorful and the soup overall was delicious. It definitely hit the spot. We also ordered some egg rolls but they brought out shrimp spring rolls instead and I was fine with it since I do love some spring rolls also. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful.

Stopped by here because our favorite Thai restaurant was closed. We figured Vietnamese was close enough! We both ordered soups and my wife also ordered an appetizer as the main course. The soups were very good, although I think they use a little too much cilantro. I ordered a clay pot chicken dish. It was quite good, but it took a long time to come out of the kitchen. On the same token, the server brought my wife's main course along with the appetizer. Overall, it is a solid restaurant. Need to staff up a little bit more so that the one person isn't having to manage the entire dining room. My only real issue with the place was the service, but I think with an additional server it would've made a big difference.

grilled barbecue pork special grill platter

Been to Tay-Ho few times before the pandemic, but decided to eat here again after a long long hiatus. We arrived at noon on a Saturday and it was pretty empty besides 2 other tables. I ordered the pho dac biet - pretty big portions, lots of noodles, this combo also came with meatballs. My mom got the grilled barbecue pork special grill platter. She likes this dish a lot because you get to wrap the ingredients in rice paper by yourself. They give a peanut sauce/fish sauce for dipping, but my mom likes to spread some on the rice paper too. It was delicious and I would definitely come back just for the special grill platter! Tay-Ho creates a modern, clean, and quiet environment. Service was prompt when we asked for an extra bowl and the check at the end. Lots of spaces available in the parking lot!

The menu is loaded with many Vietnamese delights, but I was only there for Pho, so I asked what broths they make and was surprised to learn they make beef, chicken, and vegetable broths for their Pho! Many places I visit only seem to make a beef, so I was happy to be able to enjoy chicken broth with my Phở gà. I told him to pack the order securely as I had a long drive home, but that clearly didn't happen. I didn't wait long for my order, maybe 10 minutes total and when I got it, it was in a tied plastic bag, which I carried out. I felt heat on the bottom and thought maybe one of the lids leaked, so when I looked at the lids, they were very poorly secured, which is an issue. They bought terrible, cheap, low-grade quart containers, which barely hold the lid. So I seatbelted the bag in my front seat and made it home fine. But when unpacking at home, I noticed the large round containers they put the main food in had lids that was sitting on top of the base, but didn't lock on at all - Again, cheap containers. They also had a nice assortment of accoutrement in that container, but everything was mixed together, both the cold and the hot - this is NOT appropriate. You should never pack cold and hot things in a single vessel when food is "to go." Even still, we separated everything and when it came time to eat, the noodles were so soft, they were melting. The broth was on the bland side, so I found myself adding Sriracha and salt for the first time ever to my Pho broth. The veggies were fresh though. The chicken looked and tasted good, but there were several odd, dark pieces in it that wasn't appetizing to come across. Overall - I really wanted to love this experience, especially since the smell inside that restaurant was great, but I feel it was slightly less than was it should have been. I'd say this was a 3.5 star visit, but will rate on the hi-end at 4 stars. Would I return? Not for Pho.
