BBQ Pork Paper Roll (2)
Rachel K.

I really enjoyed Vietnam One. The food and service were great. The portions were good and the tofu & pork were cooked perfectly. I got the pork rice paper rolls and the tofu vermicelli bowl. I would say this spot is comparable with some of the best Vietnamese spots in the area! I highly recommend!

Excellent menu selection of authentic, Vietnamese cuisine. Friendly staff and large portions that are bursting with flavor.

Wanted to grab some Vietnamese cuisine before hitting the road and stumbled upon Vietnam One. The place was packed, a very good sigh this place was going to be good! We started off with some summer rolls, quite delicious and paired with a tasty peanut sauce. I ordered the pho special. Flavorful broth, a truly fantastic bowl of pho! My son ordered the com tam with pork. He said it was excellent! Definitely give this place a try and the prices were not bad either!

Shrimp Garden Rolls (2)-tasted overly fishy

Two stars for not very good food but good service. The only food which was decent was the Vietnamese spring rolls. Good flavor. I ordered the shrimp summer rolls and had one of them. It didn't taste fresh and had a little bit of an odd smell. I had already ordered the chicken noodle stir fry dish to go and it was also not good. It also had a weird smell/taste to it. Tried to doctor it up at home but still put off by it. Don't live in the area but frequent the area and will not return!

I've been going to this location for many years. Nice place to eat indoors with friends or solo. Very welcoming staff and fast service. Food is always amazing and tasty. To go pho dish doesn't include chili sauce or sriracha but can ask to include.

Loved the food here for quality and price. The service was very quick for Xmas Eve, and all the other diners seemed content. I had the fried curry noddles with chicken which exceeded my expectations. Next were spring rolls and deep fried wontons - also quite good. I wouldn't say this is the best Vietnamese restaurant I've been, but certainly it ranks high for Richmond. I'd strongly recommend if someone wants simple but delicious food.

I really love this place and have for many years. The price increases have been ridiculous though. I cannot justify paying close to $15 for a bowl of Pho, when there are better, more affordable options blocks away. IYKYK

Decent Vietnamese restaurant offers most of the traditional dishes. The pho noodle is thinner than I expected and less meat inside than some other places but the flavor is still very good. Ordered a side of lemongrass grilled pork it's very delicious.

Just a terrific atmosphere. Ordered egg rolls and wontons for apps. Both delicious. Ordered the #10 and the #12 Pho. Absolutely amazing! Came with all the sides and just had a fantastic flavor! I think Sat down.. waited over 5 minutes. No menu no nothing. Server walking around to other table to take their order. The facility is WAY to big to have only 1 old man serving and hosting at the same time. Especially on a weekend. Not worth the wait and once i saw there was literally 4 tables who just had menus on their tables waiting to order.. i knew i had to get out before i realize that i waited over 40minutes to order. So i left right away. I may try them one day but definitely not worth dining at a place that cant spend money on waiters for their restaurant on a weekend.

I read about it on a Northern VA Foodie Facebook group and just happened to be staying in the area the next day, so I stopped in with a coworker who really loves Pho too. It's a small house in a neighborhood filled with similar sized houses, but it was easy to find, as it was the only 'house' on the street with a large parking lot, which was packed! I walked in and the inside was packed too, and that was around 1PM. But I was immediately greeted and he said he'd clean a table for us. We sat down and checked the menu and I was happy to see such a huge variety of so many Vietnamese delights, not just lots of Pho, but different styles of entrées and appetizers too. I tried their Phở Tái (thinly sliced, rare, beef eye round) and my coworker got Phở Ga (chicken Pho). We also started with their pork crispy spring roll and their summer roll. Both rolls were really tasty and made with fresh ingredients. The Pho we ordered was beautifully served and tasted great! The richness and depth of flavor in the Phở Tái was so nice. The accoutrement that came with the Pho was extremely fresh. Overall, this was a very nice experience. Food quality and flavor were spot on. Service was Very Friendly and Great! Opted for crispy veggie spring rolls to start - they were excellent! Perfect texture and great flavor! The dip that came with them was awesome! I'm not into peanutty sauces, nor hoison and this was a sort os soy sauce type thickened sauce with nice flavor. On to the entrée - I got chicken pho - Again, great! The accoutrement that came with it was "ok" not as fresh as I'd like, but still worked for my needs. But the broth was so very tasty! The chicken was decent as well. Also, their hoisin sauce was a cheap offbrand and fish sauce/vinegar dipping sauce was way too sweet. I don't understand why they bothered to add the Thai stuff at all...their extensive Vietnamese menu includes much, much more than the usual pho and bahn mi choices and it is all very very good ( we brought a large group, so we all got to taste a wide variety of dishes). Our water glasses were refilled a couple times, and all staff were friendly and helpful. Can't wait to try the take-home flan we ordered!

Service was attentive, organized, and pretty quick for such a large party. Open layout with plenty of seating, so it felt comfortable even with a group our size. The dumplings weren't really my thing, but the menu is huge and has a-lot to choose from. Overall, based on this first experience, it's probably not a place I'd personally go out of my way to recommend, but if you enjoy Vietnamese food and are looking for a solid spot to grab a bite, it could be worth trying.

Soup isn't a meal -- it's a thick beverage. Like a milkshake, but made of tomatoes and eaten while a grilled cheese sandwich watches in judgment. Pho is different. Pho isn't just a hunger suppressant -- it's an activity. Like dipping fries in ketchup or doing fondue. You get to cosplay as the chef while the restaurant acts as your sous chef. They gather the materials; you do the real work. Want lightly cooked tripe? Pull it out early. Want thoroughly cooked brisket? Let it soak. Want to eat an entire garden with your meat? Add all the bamboo, basil, and mint. Want a primitive diet? Take the garden home for the rabbit you'll slaughter tomorrow. You are the pilot of this meal. If your pho sucks, that's on you -- take notes and do better next time. If it's amazing? Congratulations. You are now a world-class Pho-er. This is exactly why I like pho to go. In the restaurant, the chefs behind the counter assume you're a n00b and finish it for you. At home, you control your destiny. PHO 95 Hai Ky Mi Gia hits all the right marks for me. I also ordered the crispy pork egg rolls. They're what you'd expect -- probably the same supplier as half the restaurants in America -- but the key difference is they didn't overcook them. That alone sets them apart. Just enough grease to coat my mouth in flavor, not so much that I could power a lamp for seven nights. Totally going back.
