Disappointed! I occasionally look forward to a sandwich from Taylor Gourmet It's been about 3 months since I made a purchase. However, it was not the standard I have grown to expect and liked about this establishment. Extremely, underwhelming quantity of meat, one small Roma tomato slice on each side and insufficient condiments. The sandwich was so dry.

A delicious sandwich shop. Compared to others it is perhaps one of the better sandwich shops in the area on K Street. They offer both hot and cold sandwiches, most of which are specialty sandwiches. One thing to pay close attention to when ordering are the ingredients and toppings on the specialty sandwiches. If there is a topping or ingredient you aren't quite familiar with or simply don't want you can order the sandwich without the topping. This is especially important when ordering their cheesesteak sandwich, a sandwich which was far from my expectation of a cheesesteak. The cheesesteak had lettuce, tomato and raw red onion. Not that the sandwich wasn't delicious, however it wasn't what I expected and what most people would expect from a cheesesteak sandwich. The raw red onion was most surprising on the sandwich. Overall a good experience. Street parking is available. I'll try them again when in the area.

This is my go-to lunch spot. The staff is quick and my order always tastes fresh. I have also placed large orders for work lunches that included many substitutions and my order was correct and ready to go on time! Major highlight is that this is one of the only quick service sandwich places that has a gluten-free wrap available- which is actually a decent size and holds together!!

South Street sandwich was delicious. Quick turnaround on getting order done and it is a vibe that is very DC.

I've been eating at Taylor Gourmet for over a decade and it's always solid. Very good spot. 10/10 every time.

The burgers range from $11 - $16. The service was quick and efficient too. On this visit, we caught happy hour and the options were good. I had the sliders and mango habanero wings (4pcs). Omg those wings were SPICY! If you can handle the heat, definitely give them a try. I've had this place on my list of "try outs" for a while, so while I was in there I decided to ask about the history/name of the place. I was told that this particular place used to have a "ghost restaurant" inside until the owner bought out the entire place - hence the name.

This is my second time coming for a private event…read moreand both times I've come, I've said out loud, "I should order takeout from them once a week!!" They operate a deli counter in the front and a bar / speakeasy in the back. You can rent out the bar space for private events. Last night, we had the space (and a bartender!) to ourselves, along with 3-4 different types of sandwiches. There is something SPECIAL about their seeded Italian bread. The perfect flakiness and texture. I enjoyed the chicken fontina and Italian. The caprese was my least favorite--not sure if they use a balsamic or what, but the flavor wasn't coming through. Before I left, I decided to order a large chicken cheesesteak to take home for lunch the next day. It was a bit of a risk to order a hot sandwich that I would have in the fridge overnight but I heated it up in our air fryer/toaster oven for all of 10 mins and the bread was good (not soggy) and the sandwich itself was delicious. I enjoyed it so much, I didn't stop to take a photo until the last bite :) It's a decent size sandwich--I ate half for lunch (along with my own chips and veggies) and have another half for tomorrow so while it's not cheap, I think it's reasonable.

Steak and cheese - 8/10 - the flavor was amazing but a bit on the salty side for me. I needed something to cut into the salty/savoriness so I ended up asking for a side of hot peppers. That didn't fix it but made it an easier finish for me. I don't know what kind of bread it was but it held up really well with the steak. They had karaoke going when I came in so I definitely need to come back for that. Our bartender was Carmela (sp) and she was such a doll.

The bread really is the difference maker and the fact they stuff the sub with quality ingredients. That's it. This review is about the cheesesteak. Selections are few, but I suspect most customers know what they want. The vegetable Chicago style pizza that I ordered delivered a mouthwatering aroma. The default size says served 1 to 2 and I don't know how any one person would finish one of these things. It was quite oily, the crust quite caramelized. All the vegetables still came through quite nicely. It took me three goes to actually finish it as it was so indulgent. Total came out to approximately $33, with the extra bacon for an extra $1. What's hot - Quality. One of the best quality deep dish pizzas I've had. The crust is thick, substantive, and holds up well underneath the wonderful amount of topping/filling. It's soft and chewy on the inside, and has a nice crunch on the outside. It's also not oily, which I really appreciate. There is no skimping on the toppings/filling, which my husband and I love. The meat was tender and juicy. There was a good amount of sliced bell peppers, as well. The filling was flavorful, well seasoned, and not too salty. The structure of the pizza held up well as my husband and I noshed through the pizza. We love that the crust is not floppy. - Menu. Good variety. There's something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan. I didn't see vegan cheese on the menu. However, I saw a smoked salmon pesto pizza on the menu. Pretty impressive options. - Price. Excellent value for money, especially given the portion size. The normal size pizza is their smaller size pizza, which was enough to feed myself and my husband. - Service. Pretty good. When we arrived, we were told it would take 10 more minutes. When we first put in our order for the cheesesteak pizza, they updated us that they were out of steak and asked if we were alright substituting chicken for steak. Be prepared to wait the maximum amount of time for your order, because they appear to put in the time in handcrafting each pizza order. Totally worth the wait. When they gave us the order, they opened the lid of the pizza box to let us to see our pizza. My response? I literally said, "Damn." Haha... What's not - Location. To be fair, this is specific to me and my husband, but this place is a little farther from us. Additionally, parking around this area may not be the most convenient depending on the day and time. This place is in the middle of a fairly large alley. As such, there is enough room to park your car by the restaurant, but it'll depend on the time and circumstances when you get there. There's also no seating. It appears to be strictly a takeaway joint, which is not a big deal, but it'll depend on how hungry you are and whether you're equipped to keep the pizza warm on your way home. - Service. They appear to be on all the takeaway food apps, which is helpful. However, they're not always consistent with updating the apps. For example, the first time my husband and I tried to order from there, we arrived and the restaurant was closed. When we picked up our order this time, we explained our previous situation to confirm the days and times they're actually open. They explained to us that they probably forgot to update the apps on their holiday hours. My point is it might be helpful to call and confirm that they're open, depending on when you're putting in an order. Final Answer Definitely plan on returning and worth it for a great quality deep dish pizza.
