Taylor's Breakfast & Lunch sits in a busy commercial area (BJ's, Academy Sports, etc.), so watch for distracted drivers. Especially for us on motorcycles; they're easy to miss. But that's not what this is about: this cozy corner spot surprised us in the best way. My biker buddy, "Secret Squirrel ~ Filter," had the Reuben and declared it one of his top five--looked and tasted fantastic. As for me (Rider name "1/2 Time") had the Steak and Cheese Benedict: two English muffin halves topped with seasoned steak strips, sautéed bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, pepper jack, two poached eggs, hollandaise, paprika, and herbs--it was delicious and fairly priced. They don't serve alcohol, so I missed a Screwdriver, but the iced tea was surprisingly good (and that's not always easy to pull off). Service was prompt and friendly. The cashier stood out--huge smile and wonderful attitude; I wish I'd gotten her name. Fun moment: she mentioned her dad was Navy and joked about names he told her for us Marines--Reply was yup us to we mostly called them Squids. But when push came to shove we always stood together. One Team One Fight! If you get a chance stop in and when you do tell them a Old marine on Yelp called "1/2 Time" told you. We don't get anything, but they will know that I was true to my word and did leave a review. read more

We entered the restaurant and it was so hot inside. After looking around and seeing how hot the staff looked we left. I expected to enjoy a nice meal in a cool environment and not feel like I was sitting in the sun in the parking lot. Before going you may want to check to see if they have air conditioning. They also need to take care of their employees and provide a better working environment or they won't have any. Without employees you can't run a business. JMO read more

We decided to pop by for breakfast. My wife ordered the eggs Benedict with fruit. I ordered one of the hash selections with seasoned potatoes. The Benedict was reportedly very good. The hash was okay. It was supposed to have a green chile pork topping of some sort along with cheese and other assorted toppings. The pork topping sounded fantastic but it was a bit of a let down. The portion size was certainly adequate (except that it was served with only one small flour tortilla) and the amount of eggs was quite hefty. This just wasn't what I was expecting based upon the menu description. The service was very good. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us several times. This place was decent, but not sure I would go back. Our waiter almost never came back to the table after taking our orders. We actually sat at the table for quite some time before our waiter even came to get our drink orders. Other tables around us had gotten their orders and food before us, despite getting seated after us. It almost felt like we were the forgotten table in the corner. Food was good. We stopped here after dropping off the rental car from our flight to visit our family in Monterey. I was hungry for grits after spending a month in California as they do not serve them there. I've been to Taylor's 3 times. The 1st time, I ordered a skillet which should have come out sizzling hot in a cast iron skillet. Instead it came out luke warm in a bowl. The 2nd time I ordered bacon and eggs and they were ok but not real hot. The 3rd time I ordered the classic breakfast. The pancake was so cold that it wouldn't melt the butter and was very tough . The eggs were cold but the bacon was OK. When I got ready to pay, the card reader was down. Fortunately I had some cash with me. Some people had to go find an ATM machine. I will say that the server was very good. The building is OK but nothing special. read more

We didn't feel rushed to order and although I felt we might be difficult when making our own plates to order she just said "oh you're no bother tell me what you want" and from there it just got better. The best part of my meal were my hash browned potatoes but the biscuits and gravy we shared were excellent the biscuit was perfect and the gravy was not over the top like most restaurants that over power their gravy with sausage, Taylor's was perfect. Mine was 13.99 classic and 2 drinks 6$ total . I seen a discount of 10$. I asked server something wrong with tkt. She said the pancake was discounted. I asked ot cost 10$ when it's a part of meal. She said yes, how she had to ring it up. I was in awe and I didn't argue, I told my friend let's go. This is a cozy little brunch spot with plenty of parking and places to sit while you wait for your table. The food is great, but slow service and lack of refills made our experience a lack luster one. I got the panhandle scramble and it was super filling and delicious. The sausage gravy was excellent and I'm glad I ordered an extra side of toast to help soak it up. Our server was very busy, but I saw a lot of staff standing around so I'm not sure why they couldn't step in and assist. Our waters and coffee sat unfilled for a while and it was disappointing. It would've been nice if there was someone dedicated to refilling drinks and making sure everyone is topped off. Mediocre at best. If it wasn't for the fact that we were leaving out of town and on our way home I would say we wouldn't be back. The eggs were good and the waffle was good service was good. That was about it though. The sausage patty tasted like it was those precooked sausages. Very rubbery and bland. The potatoes, wow, that was not edible at all. They were so overcooked it was like eating rocks. When I looked around the restaurant it was literally the only thing left on anyone's plate as a whole. My husband made the comment that if he had a slingshot he could have put someone's eye out with them or they would make great croutons. Sounded like dominoes hitting each other when moved around the plate. I gave 2 stars only because of the young lady that served us. She was great.
