We took advantage of perfect Wisconsin weather and sat outside. It was roomy and comfortable, quiet enough for conversation and so much fun that others decided to sit outside as well. The service was fantastic, with one of the owners coming out to make certain that all our needs were being met. It appeared that two of the waiters (young men) were relatives of the owners. They were enthusiastic and suggested their favorite dishes when we asked. There were seven of us, so I won't go into every dish we ordered specifically, but suffice it to say that everyone was very pleased with what they ordered. The food was excellent. read more

This was a new spot and we couldn't wait to try it. There's variety of dishes on the menu but we tried the mixed grill for 2 because it came with a salad, hummus, pita and an assortment of grilled meats to try. This was an excellent choice as it gave us a good sense of what's on the meny and what to order when we come next. Loved the Tabuleah salad to begin with. The hummus was delicious as well. The pita came hot but we didn't eat it fast enough and it became quite hard. It seems they air fry this to order and if you don't consume it fast- it turns to rock! The mixed grill meat had chicken, shrimp, kebab and beef. The kebab was the best- followed by shrimp and beef and chicken. The assortment of meat came on a bed of rice. I hoped the rice would have soaked the juices of the grilled meat but It was dry for the most part and lacked flavor. All in all, service was great and I would think this place is a nice addition to Middleton's Mediterranean food scene. I would go again to try a few more dishes on the menu. read more

Got take out from here because I was craving Mediterranean food. Ordered the Mazza for 2 to get a variety of dips. Half were great but the other half of the appetizers were just mid or ok. I wanted more flavor, better bread, and wanted to like it more than I did. I got the chicken shawarma combo to go and everything was delicious and tasted so fresh. It may not look like a ton of food but it's definitely filling and excellent quality. We were passing through, stopped here and had an amazing dinner. I had the Mediterranean shrimp with a salad, hummus, pita and rice. So, so tasty! The Hubby had the yellow split pea soup (fabulous) and chicken shawarma with hummus and pita - loved every bite. We ordered the rice pudding to take with us for a snack later; after a taste, it had a flavor that I didn't like. The herbs put on top, I think, were supposed to give a light floral taste but there was too much and they gave a floral soapy flavor. If I had it to do over, I'd get the baklava. read more

Taza in Middleton, 10/10. Wow! (And I am hard to impress when it comes to food.) We tried them when they first opened and were less than impressed. Well apparently they have gotten their footing. The food was phenomenal! Since we live nearby we just walked over for take out. We got both the split pea and lentil soups (not shown). Both were flavorful and the servings were good sized. We also got chicken shawerma that came with a spectacular hummus and two nice sized stuffed grape leaves with a well spiced rice filling. The chicken and beef kebob combo came on a bed of rice with hummus on the side and a grilled tomato. It probably also comes with onions and peppers, but I asked for none of those as I neither me or my husband eats them. The chicken and steak were both well marinated, tender and juicy. The beef, in particular, was super delicious. We also got two pitas with the meals. Next time I would order more pita on the side just to have it for left overs, which we have tons of. For dessert we chose the bakalava which was filled with walnuts and a lot, of really good cinnamon and drenched in honey and orange blossom water. We also got the knafeh which was a huge hit. It was a warm, sweet cheese topped with a thread thin nest of pastry and soaked with honey and orange blossom water. The scent was intoxicating and the taste was amazing. Just try it! It's so good. My husband is not a big fan of sweets and even he really liked it. He is a fan of cinnamon, so the baklava was spot on for him. And we have more left overs of both of those too! The total, with tip, was about $57 and worth every penny and then some. I'm a little scared that I live a block away from this place as it could quick become a habit. If you haven't been here yet and you're a fan of Middle Eastern food just go! It easily rivals, or tops, anything I have had in San Diego, New York or Chicago. We just left without ordering. We sat there for quite a long time, well over ten minutes and no one approached us about taking our order. Another couple who'd already been sitting there when we were seated still hadn't ordered. They were looking also looking around like they'd been waiting way too long. It wasn't that busy. Maybe four or five tables seated in total. This place is on the pricey side which we're fine with if the food is good. They've got some service issues to address. read more

I absolutely love mediterranean cuisine so when Taza opened near my house I had to try it!! It was surprisingly busy on a Wednesday night. The staff were super friendly, attentive and made great suggestions! I had the lamb shish kabob which was super flavorful and came with a ton of food! Greek salad to start, rice, lamb, hummus, pita and veggies! The lamb was a tad tough for my liking but packed with flavor. My friend had the cannelloni and she loved it. Super cheesy and delicious. Wish I could comment on the food but we did not order anything. After being seated and waiting for 15 minutes without anyone stopping by to bring some water or ask for a drink order, we eventually gave up and just left. They were not super busy and other tables were getting food. While we were waiting we saw this was the same owners as the Nile which put on extra charges for us a few times so make sure to inspect your bill. read more

We were looking forward to eating some good MEDITERRANEAN food here and were very disappointed. The lentil soup and both chicken and beef Shawarma were overwhelmed with the taste of lemon. No idea why but was not a pleasant taste. Greek salad was good but the olives they use have the pits still in them so be careful not to break a tooth! Humus was good. Without the lemon taste I think the food would be good here and we would give it another try. Other Yelpers loved it so the chef may have had a bad day. Service was a little slow considering we were the only customers but we got to eat outside on their little patio so was a pleasant lunch. The server was very nice and I think the only employee other than the chef. Maybe he was the chef as well, who knows. No one has enough help at restaurants anymore so why not make it self service like the restaurant Fresca does? Just order at the counter and save time and a waiter. read more

I've worked with them several times for work related events and it's a pleasure to organize our events with their staff and the owner- they go above and beyond. The dishes I've tried there are flavorful and fresh. I had a long chat with the owner a few months ago- he's great, and community minded. The food here is delicious. I got the beef and kefta combo for dinner. The meat was juicy and deliciously seasoned. The kefta, in particular, I think really indicates the quality and skill here. Sometimes, kefta can come out extremely dry. Not here, though, it was as juicy as the wonderful beef kebab. The hummus had a wonderful texture, and great flavor, and the roasted vegetables on the side were great. I could eat a plate of those grilled onions on their own as a meal and be happy. I was also impressed with the split pea soup. It's nice and thick and has a lovely peppery, earthy flavor. I will definitely come here again. read more

WONDERFUL!! Taza is a great "hidden treasure nestled away in Cayuga Court in Middleton. A great way to experience Mediterranean cuisine! Everything was outstanding (Kibal balls, Falafel, lentil soup, taboulleh, Greek salad, Bana Ganoush, Mediterranean grill -DO NOT JUDGE- we did take some leftovers home)...but the winner was the stuffed salmon. ABSOLUTELY incredible- the richness and depth of flavor from the spices was beyond words! Or waitstaff (Tarek and Sofran - please pardon my spelling) we're great - attentive without being overwhelming yet we're very engaging when we seeked interaction ( whether because of needing something or raving about the dish). The most delicious food. They offered vegetarian and meat options. I could feel comfortable coming here with any pescatarian or vegetarian friend. We enjoyed our dine-in experience with the meat kabobs, chicken shawarma, tabouli salad, hummus, babaganoush, kids chicken with fries, rice, a meat pastry, we tried many things! I'm so happy the Madison area has this place. The food was prepared well as well providing a variety of options. I'm not typically a fan of lentil soups at restaurants and only have enjoyed homemade ones, but they did it right here. The lentil spinach soup was sour and exactly as it should be. It makes your mouth water in a good way. The regular lentil dhal soup is creamy and served hot (temp). I couldn't even decide which I liked better. We are a family that loves our dips and hummus and babaganoush we're done very well. I think maybe it was a short-staffing issue, just need waters and some apps to get set onto the table faster especially when with small kids, but truly, it was a good experience food-wise. read more

A Mediterranean restaurant that serves the typical kebobs and other seasoned grilled meats. We ordered a combo platter that serves 4 and it did just that with leftovers. Came with 4 different meats, rice, pita, hummus, and salad. We decided to sub shrimp for more chicken and upgrade house salad for Greek salad. All things tasted great and is on par with all other places in the area. One unexpected thing was that the best bite came from the roasted tomato. This is where the positives of this place ends. This meal started off bad when we placed the order 1 hour in advanced to pick up at a specific time. We purposely planned to pick up later than the provided time so in case they were running late they have some cushion. Well that didn't work because we got there 30 minutes after the provided time and still waited 20 minutes to get the food. We also ordered a gyro plate which came with fries, a little side of hummus, and a salad. For the price of 16.99 I was expecting a huge plate of freshly sliced gyro meat and a mound of fries. Instead I was greeted with pre-sliced rounded rectangles of super thin flavorless gyro "meat" and handful of limp fries. If I wanted this manufactured gyro I can get a case of it from Costco for the same price as this entree. For these two reason this place goes from 3 to 2 stars. I would rather go to Freska which is close by. read more

Twice now, Taza has catered our dinner gatherings with their 6 or 8 person Grilled Shish Grill Platters. Food was wonderful and the pick-up service impeccable. The shrimp, lamb and chicken served with whole tomatoes and onions on a bed of Lebonese rice was delicious. It comes with a side or either soup or salad and the best hummus/tahini in the city.
