I've called on TE Certified Electric a couple of times for estimates and I found that they upsell every time I call, therefore never winning my business. I have no doubt that they do great work however, if I can get the same job done without the upsell obviously I'm going to go with the other company TE Certified team. Please read this message and reconsider your tactics next go round. Better luck winning my business next time. The last time I called for a sauna install. They wanted me to do an entire service upgrade before they install the sauna. I ended up getting a much better price for almost a4 of what they quoted me and I'm extremely happy that I did so. Granted the home is older and could use a service upgrade, but one was not required. I live alone and the load was not going to be nowhere near as high as they as they said. And I know this because I received confirmation from three or four other electricians. Besides, I did my own independent research. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I booked a Spring maintenance appt for Tuesday March 10th. I chose TE because of the 5-star reviews and the proximity to my home (less than 8 minutes away).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The air in my home was not cooling properly. When I got my text confirmation of the appointment, I promptly asked what the cost would be. I received a reply that stated the cost is $149 for the 1st system and $89 for each additional system. I have a 2-story home with a R22 heat pump system approx. 15-17 years old. The 1st tech Otis showed up. I explained that the air wasn't getting as cold as normal. I needed it fixed because I have a newborn at home. Otis understood and said he would take a look and let me know. He went outside and upstairs in the attic to diagnosis. He came back several minutes later and stated he had good news/bad news. Good news is that the capacitor and coolant levels were all good. The issue was that the fan had gone out in the outside system. The fan is what picks up the coolant and blows it to where it needs to be. It needed to be replaced to get the air back cold. I asked what the cost would be. He checked his iPad and stated $848. Sticker shock as I was prepared to spend $149 but I have a newborn in the house. I agreed to the $848 and he said he would check to see if they had the part. 3 minutes later he said they did. He would go pick it up and be back to install. He came back about 20 minutes later and said he had the part, would install and be on his way. Periodically I can see/hear him on the phone with someone during this process. Otis comes back in to say that he installed the fan but now there is no power to the system. He says I need to have an electrician run a line from the house to the system. I asked why because the system was on when he came and he couldn't have diagnosed the problem without the system being on? He said he didn't know why there was no power, but the service manager Josh had been informed and would explain everything. I tried to stop him from leaving because now my system is TOTALLY OFF and the best you can do is tell me to call the service manager. I told him that was unacceptable and that I needed him to repair what he had done. He says he was on the phone with the project mgr. the entire time and he knows what's going on. Then he left. The next day I have a total of 3 different techs at different times to come to my home but to no avail. My system was NEVER repaired and left dismantled. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I did finally speak with service manager Josh and he assured me he would get someone out to remedy the problem.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The last guy Will(project mgr.) shows up at my home. I explained to him what transpired with each tech. He stated he will look and both the indoor/outdoor system and come back and give me a diagnosis. He comes back and few minutes later and tells me that Otis misdiagnosed the original problem and that is more complex. He said I needed to replace my system; my system is dead and cannot be repaired. He then tells me I have 2 options and since they are the ones that attempted to repair my unit he could offer me their employee discount of 20%. 1st option was $23K and the 2nd option was $19K. He offered financing, which I did say I would do but I must unfreeze my credit first. He says he will send me the financing link once I unfreeze my credit. He states that although he can get me installed the next day, he cannot schedule anything nor order parts until I complete the credit application and it comes back approved. I told him I would get it done but I didn't. It had been a long day and I still had no air. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The next morning at 8:07 a.m. Will is on my porch with another gentleman that I had never met. I asked what did they need? Will says, "I am here to install your new system". I asked how? He says, "I told you I could get you scheduled the next day". True but I NEVER completed the finance application. You said you cannot do anything until it's completed and come back approved. He says "well yes but we can do that this morning. I have ordered your parts, and I have a crew on the way"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I promptly tell him that I need to think about it further and do not want their services today. He says okay and will give me a day or so. I felt like I was being bullied into getting a new system with TE[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. If I never completed the credit application, how were you able to schedule an installation and order parts? More importantly, if I let TE in to install it without completing the application, who was going to pay? What if I was denied? [[HIGHLIGHT]]Will has called at least 2 times and texted twice to ask when I wanted them to come install the new system. Never once did he apologize for TE dismantling my system and leaving it inoperable[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The messages he has left are asking when they can come out to replace the system. I bought two Annual Maintenance Packages. One for myself and one for my brother, Brian (gift for him). Somehow, this was an EXTREMELY confusing concept for TE Certified to grasp. My Spring visit happened first. Everything went well and I was very pleased with the technician's knowledge, responsiveness, and care for my system. The technician gave me a folder that fully explained my Annual Maintenance Plan, as well as a form which fully explained what they had done that day. The following day, I received a VERY detailed email, complete with dozens of photos of all my equipment, which were taken during the inspection and cleaning. It was a complete rundown of what they did, actions they recommend, etc. My brother Brian's visit was about two weeks later. That's when everything went up in smoke. His technician's name was Greg, who showed up on time for his appointment and was VERY polite. (That is about all that went right.) However, Greg went under the house and inspected the furnace (remember this is a SPRING maintenance appointment, where they are supposed to be getting the A/C ready for summer). He comes back up after a while and tells Brian that he needs to discuss a bunch of stuff he found wrong with the furnace with Margaret (me). Brian was extremely confused as to why Greg needed to talk with me.... about Brian's furnace, which is installed in his own home. Brian asked Greg why he needed to talk to his sister. Greg says that it's because I paid for the service. Brian reassures Greg that Brian lives there, and he can speak freely. Greg again says he really needs to talk with Margaret. Brian was becoming very offended, standing in his own home, and being told he couldn't make decisions about his own furnace. Finally, Greg relented and explained that he was recommending $5700 worth of repairs, which he would be emailing TO MARGARET (again Greg's still was not catching on here!!) Greg also mentioned that since Brian did not have the Annual Maintenace Plan (YES, HE DID!!) That was the reason some of the prices were higher. This was literally a comedy of errors and Brian was livid. Again, Greg was extremely polite, but clearly very misinformed and not well trained. Brian received NOTHING from Greg on his way out the door. I was also furious and since I paid for the Annual Maintenace Plans, I called TE Certified to find out why this was such a trainwreck. I talked to Sonya. She was very, very nice. She said that some of the confusion could be that I had paid for both Annual Maintenance Plans, so both records would be under my name. I explained to her that I had already separated the records and Brian's account was under his name, so there should be no confusion. She verified that yes, the accounts were separate. She said she would have Greg's manager call Brian to discuss what had happened. Ryan called Brian that afternoon (Friday). Brian was in meetings all day and called Ryan back the next business day (Monday). Brian didn't feel that Ryan was really taking his call seriously. Brian explained that he went out and looked in his outside A/C unit and it was full of dead leaves. Greg had clearly not even touched it when he was there to do the spring A/C maintenance. Brian was not even sure what Greg did, besides write up a list of $5700 worth of recommendations, which also didn't make sense, since Brian has his HVAC unit inspected every 6 months and it seems illogical that nobody mentioned any catastrophic problems 6 months ago that would cost anywhere in the range of $5700. (You can literally get a full furnace replacement for $5700.) Ryan said he would investigate the situation with Greg. He said he would find out where that follow up email was and have somebody call to reschedule Brian's appointment. I'm guessing by this point it will not shock you that it has now been 5 business days, and nobody has called to reschedule Brian's appointment, and nobody has sent the follow up email. read more
