Tea Scholar is directly right across from Molly Tea + Chahalo + Tea Pulse. Huge competition among all the bubble tea spots via Prince Street. It's small but not just with a storefront. Had several drinks from Tea Scholar on different occasions from different promotions. I have never bought just drinks on their own without an ongoing promotion. Staff is nice and patient. Service isn't exactly the fastest, maybe takes about 15-20 mins of waiting to get your drink order(s). There's an overhead LED screen letting customers know when their orders are getting made and those that would be ready for pickup. A shelf of merch being displayed and sold is right by the entrance when you first step inside the place. Staff accepts both cash and card by the register counter. There happens to be an ongoing in-store Christmas Day promotion where if you buy a large sized drink, you'll get a blind box styled Christmas-themed wrist slap bracelet on the side of the drink itself. Large sized drinks are $1.25 extra. Ordered the Fresh Osmanthus Milk Tea with no ice & no sugar. I know that the taste might get downgraded without the sugar but I'm trying to avoid any sugar in my drinks. Their drinks don't taste good and aren't memorable. The osmanthus part isn't present at all which defeats the purpose of this so-called floral milk tea. Can't even remember what I have ordered without looking at the receipt, that's how unspecial their drinks are in my book. Taste wise is similar to Molly Tea from across the street. Has it not been the wrist slap bracelet promotion, I wouldn't have even stepped inside Tea Scholar. What makes it more of a let down from this whole boba tea experience is that, I have gotten the wrist slap that I dislike the most out of all the Christmas-themed ones - the Santa Claus. It's just so ugly looking that the money has been wasted for no reason. Wished that they've let customers choose the one they've wanted.
I had lunch nearby and decided to stop in to try the tea. The ladies were so friendly and welcoming. The one who helped me asked if it was my first time, and when I said yes, I told her I wanted the iced peach tea. She smiled and said I would love it. Then she pulled out a box that looked like dominoes and told me to pick one. I did--and it was in Mandarin, so I didn't know what it said. She got so excited and told me, "You won! You're very lucky!" Turns out I had won a cute small fur bag, which I'll be giving to my 10-year-old. Such a fun surprise! She was right--the tea was tasty, refreshing, and not too sweet, with lots of fruit inside. I worked in Flushing for six years and don't come back often, but this spot is definitely one I'll be checking out again.
Next to the parking garage next to Tangram Mall on Price Street. There is a little seating in there, and an order progress screen so you can see if your order is ready yet. They do call out your order number as well. The service is friendly and informative. The Osmanthus Tea with Cheese Foam Tea Jelly (30% sugar, less ice) had great osmanthus flavor. Not much cheese foam flavor, though it adds a bit of salty creaminess to the drink. I did enjoy the texture of the tea jelly. The Fresh Jasmine Milk Tea (also 30% sugar, less ice) is heavily on the floral side, so I would recommend getting more sugar to balance it out. Otherwise it tastes like you're drinking perfume. I had initially wanted a Matcha Latte but the ice and sugar levels are fixed for that, so something to note! They were/are running a cute promotion where if you get 2 drinks or 1 drink + 99¢, you get a cute tiny Tea Scholar branded teapot. They put dry ice on it and activate it with a bit of hot water so it looks like a steaming teapot! Quick spot to grab some tea, but with so many other options around it doesn't really stand out to me.
Right across from Molly Tea, Tea Scholar is a great alternative for those who don't want to wait in the line. I've walked by a couple times and tried samples of their drinks but only recently got one myself. Their service is good and super fast. My friend and I got their jasmine oolong and felt that it was very comparable to the Molly Tea one (maybe just not as fragrant of a tea scent?). Would love to come back to try their other drinks.

There was also excellent service. I messed up one of my orders, and luckily the staff let me change it last minute. They also gave out free miniature tea pots (so cute ) with any order of milk teas. We ordered 4 drinks. - honey dew slush: lacking honey dew flavor. Needs some work. - jasmine tea with cheese foam and tea jelly: strong tea aroma and not sweet at all. I expected it to be balanced with the added sugar. Which was very weird because I got the recommended sugar . The jelly was good tho. Aside from those two drinks that needed some work. - premium oolong milk tea - Fresh jasmine milk tea These two milk teas were very good. Perfect balance of tea and milk.

I tried the premium oolong milk tea, but it didn't quite live up to the hype, felt a bit lacking in fragrance
2nd visit- there was literally no wait on a rainy weekday yay. I tried the osmanthus milk tea as well and it had a really pleasant osmanthus tea flavor that wasn't overpowered by the milk. Can't wait to try the rest of their menu! Their blue and white takeout bags are so pretty. Wow does Molly Tea finally have some legit competition? They're definitely still going through opening pains and perhaps also not as staffed as their pink branded competitor so I ended up wait 20+ minutes for my drink. There were a lot of online orders ahead of mine it seemed. At least there was seating inside the store to wait. If you order from here during the afternoon, just order ahead and then go wander around before returning. The packaging style is quite similar in terms of cup design, sealing the drink with a lid, tea savoring straw etc. Their best advantage is that out of all the bubble tea places with jasmine milk tea that I've visited, this place had the lowest price by far. I didn't drink it the day of and it kept well in the fridge. The drink was sealed so I think that really helped to maintain the flavor of the tea. I would say that it is a really close contender to Molly's. So if you're on the look out to save some money but also need to satisfy your jasmine milk tea craving, this place is a good choice.
To my disbelief, a tea shop with an extremely similar concept opened right across from Molly Tea. I asked the worker taking my order what the most popular drink was and they also said they were known for their Jasmine Milk Tea so I tried that with 50% sugar. The wait was short since there weren't many people there and the worker packing my cup into a bag was really courteous. The cup and straw were the same as Molly Tea's and the milk tea was very fragrant with jasmine flavor. I would say Molly Tea's jasmine flavor is a little more fragrant but the tea in this one is a bit stronger. The price is also around the same as Molly Tea's but maybe a tiny bit cheaper. Overall, a nice place to get a jasmine milk tea if you don't want to wait on the long lines across the street.

This is not a jasmine tea store so comparing it to molly would be a bit far fetched. ONE drink i can recommend is either the Osamanthus oolong milk tea or the oolong tea with the jelly and cheese cap. I never looked back at jasmine after drinking Osamanthus. Plus the wait time is not as crazy as molly lol read more
I saw Tea Pulse on social media, offering milk tea and boba drinks with a unique spin - an option for a mini Chinese teapot ornament with smoke coming out (dry ice) to imitate steam from hot tea! Since I was in the area, I really wanted to give it a try. When I got to the store, and asked if this was still being offered, the cashier responded harshly with "it's not free!". I never assumed it would be, but also was taken aback by the rude greeting. I was ok with the $2.99 add on, but after placing my order (Oamanthus tea with foam tea jelly), I was then told they were out of dry ice, so no steam. I decided to get the drink anyway, but not with the tea pot. Unfortunately I should've turned down my order altogether. The drink was underwhelming. There was a decent amount of jelly, but the drink itself didn't taste of too much. That, along with the rude service really soured my experience. Given there are a TON of drink stores within walking distance, I don't think I'd want to come back, even for the novelty aspect. read more

Another milk tea place opened on Prince St, I have to try it! Since I went at night, I couldn't find it originally. Kept walking by it. It's right next to the parking garage. I ordered a Jasmine milk tea (30% sugar, less ice). It wasn't bad though not as strong as a competitor's version. Since I was drinking it later, my drink was put in a pretty to go bag, good for 2 drinks. Have to try their other drinks. Go get one for yourself to try. read more

Tried this place for the first time and was not impressed by the tea, I got the fresh jasmine milk tea with 30% sugar and light ice but thought it didn't really taste that good. Would probably suggest getting something else instead. read more
I think Flushing has become far too oversaturated with tea shops that offer the same concept (feels copied), and all in too close proximity to each other. The peach flavor in my peach oolong tea came through, but lacked tea flavor. read more

Nice flavor samples available and the tea is pretty good. Ambiance is very light and premium, with their gift items for sale. Service was quick. There are a lot of tea shops competing in this area so this recent addition fits right in as a new great option. read more

Similar taste to Molly tea but more spacious inside. The wait was quite long as they were short staffed. They have a cool mini teapot that gives off smoke (dry ice) that they put on your cup if you order 2 or more drinks. read more
Honestly I really liked the jasmine milk tea it had a strong tea flavor and was still milky and sweet - without being TOO sweet. Also the little teapot on top was super cute. I forgot the second drink we had but it was some sort of fruit tea and that one I would not get again. read more
Unique concept especially in such a competitive neighborhood. I tried two of the tea jelly series. You have to purchase two drinks to get the smoking miniature tea pot. The drinks were okay, the little clay teapot with the vapor coming out was really cute and it's now on my display case with other miniature menagerie. The tea jelly had bitter bits due to the actual tea leaves still in them, I didn't mind them but not a big fan of bitter taste in general. read more

I love, love, LOVE that TEA SCHOLAR is across from Molly Tea. No hate on Molly tea but their line is WAY too long. No way am I waiting that long for tea (again). Both are really GOOD tea but TeaScholar is ranked #1 for me for now. I was drawn to this store 1 for its name 2 for the cute liquid nitrogen (dry ice?) tea pot accessory on the tea when you order from them. 3 best of all: both of their fresh Jasmine MT ($5.95) and Osmanthus MT ($5.75) were exactly what I wanted. You can also upgrade the size to Large (add $1.50) unlike --other-- stores only offering one size. THANK YOU TEA SCHOLAR! read more

I've heard people mentioning this place is like hey tea and Molly tea had a baby. But u was surprised that when I got a milk tea. Their flavor of their tea was definitely more bold and came out more than Molly. Molly tea I think is too light. But here the tea flavor decently comes out more and flavor. I do recommend any tea drinkers to try here for stronger flavor. Hey tea is my to go for a plain jasmine tea and hey tea for something fruity. But will add tea scholar to my list of tea places. I will try a fruit selection next from here. read more
Was intrigued by their dry ice tea pot. Not sure if it is just for their opening promo but if you order a large peach oolong milk tea you get a ceramic tea pot on top of your drink with dry ice inside so it looks like steam. It was pretty cute. I had also tried their osmanthus milk tea but it was too floral for me. I prefer the peach oolong milk tea. There were also running a couple of promotions through the end of March but it was kinda poorly advertised. It was in Chinese and it's only a piece of paper outside their wall. read more

I didn't expect to try this place so quickly. I didn't see any lines on a random Monday evening, so I took the opportunity and went in. They said 15 mins wait so I took a walk around Tangram before returning. To my surprise when I returned there was no one inside. Lucky me, I was able to take some photos . Fresh Jasmine Milk Tea - does have that floral taste to it. It's good but I'm not a floral person (always keep that in mind) I'd say it's very comparable to Molly's Jasmine milk tea. Put me to a blind taste test, I won't be able to tell the difference. Chun enjoyed it, he still says Molly tea one is better. . Chelan Milk Tea - this didn't have any floral notes that I can taste, it's a strong tea flavor, I believe the staff says it's similar to oolong. Now, this one I liked I prefer black teas over the floral ones, but I do like chrysanthemum . . . I think their tea drinks are as good as Molly Tea. If there's a long line at Molly Tea, Tea Scholar isn't a bad 2nd choice. They are better than some of the other tea places in the area. . Tea Scholar is also cheaper than Molly Tea, and they have 2 sizes on their milk tea and cloud drinks. It's hard not to compare any new tea shop to Molly Tea, they really set the bar. You should definitely try Molly Tea if you haven't and are curious about the hype. read more
I got the fresh osmanthus milk tea--it tasted pretty similar to what you'd find at other Chinese tea shops. The flavor was nice, but I really didn't like the tiny straw they gave. The hole was so small, it made it hard to drink and really took away from the experience. I'm not sure why they don't just use a regular-sized straw. Overall, the drink was decent, but the straw situation might be a dealbreaker for me unless they change it. read more
Another bubble tea shop in the competition--I'm not sure why this place is so empty compared to Molly Tea across the street. If you enjoy strong tea flavors, this spot might be for you. The jasmine green tea was enough bitter for my liking and the tea jelly, while unique, didn't have much flavor. Prices are a bit high, but they offer good non-dairy options, which I appreciate as someone who's lactose intolerant. Plus, the staff are genuinely friendly and kind. This place deserves more attention. read more
nice spacious interior friendly staff tea jelly isnt too crazy i thought itll be yummy. But taste like Aiyu jelly and the sweetness is very adjustable. Relaxing space for catching up. Bright interior. I got a jasmine tea it was so bitter, which is good by me. read more
I tried out this new tea shop that opened up right across the street from Molly Tea. When I saw how cute the teacup is that's when I knew I must get one. I also love drinking tea because I'm a tea person. In order to get the little teapot cup , you must order 2 drinks. I ordered their fresh jasmine milk with 30% sugar and less ice ($5.95). The second drink I ordered is jasmine milk tea with whipped cloud ($6.75). The first drink tasted a bit too bland and watery. I still enjoyed the drinks. read more

Really cute packaging, especially the teapot . Their Osmanthus bloom is reallyyy good and has a sweet salty floral taste to it. Their grape slushie was also really good. Staff members were very helpful too. read more

Molly's was the OG tea place that started the craze for floral milk teas in Flushing so I was curious when I saw Tea Scholar open up directly across from them (direct competition!) In terms of pricing the two seem very similarly priced (at around $8 a cup, definitely not cheap). Tea scholar is way faster though--they have an automated tea dispensing system set up in the back and doesn't come with that horrendous line that Molly always seems to have. I ordered the jasmine milk tea. The jasmine flavor was very strong akin to Molly's but maybe seemed a bit less delicate. But my favorite flavor at Molly's was actually the white champaca which Tea Scholar does not have--but I am excited to watch them develop their menu. For now, it is a worthy spot to try especially if you don't have the patience to wait in the long Molly's line. read more

Their floral milk teas are great but sometimes taste diluted. Must order with less ice. Very similar to Molly tea without the hour long wait time. The staff are efficient and kind. Cute designs are a plus. My favorites are the jasmine, osmanthus, and peach oolong. read more
