I rarely go to Flushing anymore (too crowded) but was in the area for an appointment and wanted to try a new (to me) drink spot which is how I found Chun Yang. It's located on an isolated looking street with not much foot traffic and inside a building that houses another little shop. With a clean, modern interior look, there were a few seats next to the large windows with lots of natural light coming in. I was there on a Monday afternoon and only saw a table of 3 customers with no one waiting in line. They had a relatively extensive menu and I'm very indecisive as I wanted to try everything so I asked the employee at the cashier what's their more popular drink to which she told me the Honey Osmanthus Oolong Teas. I ended up getting the Latte version in a Large (wish it was a bit bigger for price paid) with Less Ice, 50% Sugar and Boba. Although a little watered down tasting to me, the tea was flavorful and definitely did not taste like the powdered stuff. I wished it was a bit sweeter but the employee said the honey can make the drink very sweet so maybe next time I'll try 75% Sugar. The boba was very soft and chewy which I loved although flavorless so I probably won't be getting Boba next time around. One of my favorite bubble tea shops in Flushing (and there is A LOT in Flushing). There's usually several people working, so they're quick and efficient. A little out of the way halfway down 41st Ave between Main St and College Point Blvd, but worth the walk. Used to just be Chun Yang in the building, but now there's a Buddhist store (Heartland) right across, as well as an aerial yoga studio (Fairy Aerial) down the hall. My go to is either the Honey Osmanthus Tea or the Smoked Plum Lemonade. I usually get 30% sugar and less ice. The Honey Osmanthus Tea is refreshing. If I want some sourness, I get the lemonade version. The Smoked Plum Lemonade is the perfect amount of smokey and sour. If you're not used to the flavor, I would advise getting more sugar (the cashiers have advised getting more, but I've had it before, so I know how I like it). Definitely worth going to! read more

The Lychee Oolong Tea with Ayu Jelly is the drink to get. When all your friends agree that you got the best drink, you know you hit the jackpot. With a plethora of bubble tea options in Flushing, we decided on Chun Yang because it was close by and we wanted fruit tea. While located in one of those buildings with multiple shops, Chun Yang wasn't hard to find. Lucky for me and my friends, we didn't have to wait to order. We did see a line form after we got our drinks though. My friends ordered the Raspberry Oolong and the Kiwi Yakult Drink with Ayu Jelly while I ordered the Lychee Oolong with Ayu Jelly. It didn't take long for our drinks to come out and we got one of the tables in Chun Yang's sitting area to enjoy our drinks. The sitting area had several tables and was pretty spacious considering most bubble tea spots I go to are grab and go. Taste-wise, the fan favorite was the Lychee Oolong with Ayu Jelly because it was not too sweet but still fragrant and fruity with a clear taste of the oolong. The ayu jelly worked well with the oolong and was the perfect jelly texture. The Raspberry Oolong tasted pretty average and the Kiwi Yakult was interesting but not something I would get regularly. While our drinks were a mixed bag, I'm willing to come back and try other flavors since I really liked the Lychee Oolong. It's also nice that there are several tables so you're likely to get a table where you can sit in the AC on a hot day while enjoying your ice cold drink. Just wish they had a bathroom. read more

The best papaya milk I've tried was in Taiwan and I've yet to find something better in America! So my bar is set sort of high, and I know it is not accessible or fair to make that sort of comparison...with that said, the papaya milk I had here was good and satisfying!! Also, they use real fruit bits in their drinks, so that intrigued me. POMELO OOLONG TEA - 7.50 I wanted to try something different that I can't get normally and the pomelo oolong tea was perfect. Unfortunately, this drink only comes in a large size. I got this with less ice and 0% sugar. I found that the drink was still too sweet due to the sweetness in the syrup. However, it felt more like natural "fruit sweet" so I was more OK with it. I enjoyed the oolong tea a lot as it stood out well. I also enjoyed the fruit bits in my drink, YUM! I added aiyu jelly (+1) to my drink as recommended by the person who took my order which was a great idea. Sadly, this also means my drink was $9.25 after tax. My friend's Black Tea Latte was fine, you can't mess up a classic. But the Peach Smoothie ($7.95) in particular needs some more QA. It was a fixed sweetness and size. I was expecting more of a cold icee consistency like other places, but instead I got more liquid than anticipated. The drink was also incredibly sweet, with large jelly pieces and peach bits. These were also yellow peaches, but I think white peaches would have worked better to give off a less harsh, more floral sweetness. The yellow peach bits gave me flashbacks to those school lunch diced peach fruit cups. I personally wouldn't recommend getting this particular drink unless you want some diced peaches in a drink form. That aside, I love that there's seating and they played some nice K-bops! read more

The first time I tried Chun Yang was in LIC. Since then I've liked this brand a lot and feel that they consistently make beverages with high quality ingredients. My main gripe is that it's priced a bit higher than other places which makes it a premium bubble tea. While lovely, it's also definitely a splurge drink and can't be a more regular spot for that reason. Since it is a splurge spot, it also meant it'd be more worth it for a unique drink. They had some new summer offerings so my sisters and I decided to try different drinks. We got: Purple Rice Sago Tea Latte, Passion Fruit Green Tea and Iced Pomelo Oolong Tea (only in Large)! It was our first time trying each of these flavors and we all ended up enjoying them. The purple Rice Sago is very nostalgic for me since it reminds me of flavors I grew up with. When ordering we usually opt for 50% sugar but depending on the drink, the staff actually had different recommendations. We opted to follow her lead since it wasn't over the top (mainly not a fan of 100% sugar) and their suggestions ended up working out well. There's just way too many bubble tea places all over Main Street; however, this location is actually one of the bigger and more spacious ones. They take all major credit cards with a $10 minimum, and accept various forms of e-payment methods as well. And from all the signs and advertisement posted, they also work with quite a few app platforms for online orders as well. (I ordered 4 drinks each via Seamless and Grubhub, and the prices are noticeably higher on the apps by at least $1-$1.75 per drink, verses in store menu prices.) There were 3 staff members on duty behind the counter today. And all of them were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating (Thank you guys, Milly, Michelle and Vanness!!). And it looks like there's more space behind the curtain too. I bought eight drinks to try, and most of them were from staff recommendations. The ordering and pickup area reminds me of the architecture you'd see on Chinese buildings in the palace dramas. I ordered the oolong latte with pudding and it was quite delicious. The honey osmanthus oolong tea was perfectly sweetened with the honey and the tea flavor was delicate. The brown sugar Pearl with fresh milk was creamy and sweet but for me lacked some of that deep brown sugar flavor that I like if you compare it to Tiger Sugar. So both tasted great. I would just opt for the regular Horjicha Latte without the ice-cream next and save yourself a dollar.
