pretty good. I had a groupon, forty bucks for an hour, and Chris did my massage. He was good. Not fantastic, but good. He did a great job on my calves and a less good job on my (admittedly VERY tight) back and neck. They were very nice, and Id go back with another groupon. The endless tip signs are annoying. The tip amount is contingent upon a number of factors, and to make customers feel obligated to tipping a minimum amount is not cool. One sign with suggested amounts and maybe a reminder to tip on the price of the full service for a discounted service would be enough - give your customers the benefit of the doubt and assume they know to tip. Definitely don't expect a minimum tip amount if you're shaving 10 minutes off of the length of the massage or are skipping/rushing through certain elements of the service (aromatherapy, less than a minute foot scrub). A tip is earned, as is the amount. And definitely don't ask customers the tip amount in front of their therapist...awkward. Step it up guys! read more

I came here with a groupon for my first professional massage ever. I had no idea what I was doing, but the staff was so kind and helpful and the atmosphere was so relaxed. While I was occasionally reminded of how incredibly intimate it is to have a stranger massage you while you're basically naked, I never felt uncomfortable. The incredible effect was that I had absolutely no shoulder or neck pain for an entire week and a half afterwards, and the weird tingling I got from my tumor scar was gone. I've asked for the membership for my birthday from my affianced, so that I can get the discounted massage once a month and maybe a facial here and there. All in all, I was surprised by how pleased I was with the entire experience. I so look forward to coming back! read more

Using a Groupon, I had a 60 minute massage and detox foot scrub today with Jane. While they were running a little behind, it didn't matter for me because my schedule today was flexible. I was offered some lovely honey ginger tea while I waited and had an opportunity to read and relax. I have an unusual muscular condition that I explained to Jane and appreciated that she took the time to listen and put into practice what we discussed. Often, when I have a massage, I'll explain what I need only to have the massage therapist still do their own thing. Jane listened and targeted specifically what I needed. By the end, I was dozing off as I felt completely at ease in her hands. While ambiance, friendliness, location, etc...are all factors when choosing a health spa, at the end of the day, it's the therapist/technician that makes all the difference. Tea Spa has a nice atmosphere (and that tea is delicious) but you might find others more spacious and/or luxurious. However, being an avid spa hopper, finding a therapist like Jane is difficult. I went here yesterday 1/14/16 3pm, location is good and easy to find, parking is on the other side in front of subway. first I arrived 15 min. early to do my paper work as a first time costumer, I got the 60min. signature massage with foot scrub which is given to me by my lovely sis as a gift.Place is nice and cozy, the aura of relaxation is overwhelming that want you to go to the from right away but first I have to wait for my massage therapist. she came 10 min. before my appointment her name is Mimi very nice lady she prep the room and then take me for briefing and introduction. i had a medium pressure body massage it was very relaxing, comfortable and miracle feeling to take away all of my body stress, the foot scrub at the end was amazingly relaxing telling you to come back for the next appointment. overall I like how early she came, the massage was outstanding and people are nice. definitely will recommended it's worth it. of course don't forget to leave gratuity on her envelope located at the desk at front. read more

Like most reviews I have read, I also bought a groupon for the couple's swedish massage. There are good and bad and I will tell both (not just one side). Our appointment was at 10:15am and they told us to arrive at 10am because there is a form to fill out. We arrived, filled out the form, and was told that the massause was running late and would be there by 10:30. We were ok with waiting because we already set that time for the massage. They were at least apologetic for making us wait. Our therapists were Iris and Chance and we WERE NOT disappointed. I had Iris and the massage all flowed together. She used just the right amount of pressure and it felt like a little slice of heaven with a cherry on top. This was my first massage so I went in a little nervous but by the end I was extremely relaxed and when we left my back and legs felt wonderful. My boyfriend had Chance and he gave her 5 stars as well. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to go with the membership for $49 and scheduled the hot stone massage while we were there. We have since gotten the hot stone massage and we both HATED it. I'm not sure if it were our therapist, Jane and Mirriam (i think are their names) but we were both waiting for that AHAAAA!!! moment and never got it. It may just be the nature of that massage. First I didn't like the way my therapist tucked the sheets into my undies instead of just folding it back and letting it lay on top of me. Then we start into the massage and instead of a quiet, peaceful voice she used her normal tone to see if the pressure was ok (the asking was good but the loudness was not since we were all in the same room). She would also do something on one side and forget to do it on the other. My boyfriend said his felt like she was rushing through it and the stones were already room temperature by the time they were being used (once again could just be the nature of the massage). BUT we didn't let this experience deter us from going back. I have since made another appointment for the deep tissue massage to see which one we enjoy the best and get them on a regular basis. I also requested NOT to have those 2 people again and for Iris and chance but we will get Chance and Chris (who have gotten great reviews). I agree with everyone else about parking. There is a sign in the parking lot that says 2 hours and there was plenty of parking there. Also, you can hear the cars on the street but it wasn't so much that it took away from my relaxation. You can also hear doors opening to the other rooms. Overall, it was a good experience but when I made our new appointment I told them that if the hot stone was our first experience there we would not have returned so thank you Iris and Chance. read more

Let me start by saying that the massage I had was wonderful. My therapist was Ben and he was just firm enough that it wasn't painful but more pressure than I was used to (which is what I requested). I did the sauna as well and that left some to be desired. Nothing special as opposed to what you get from the website. It's just a regular one person sauna in the middle of a room where you can't see the door ( a little scary if you ask me). Now for the lack of 4 or 5 stars. The location. I know this helps to keep the price down but parking was a nightmare. The lot you're supposed to park in is always full (a lot with 20 so parking spaces is serving about 10-12 businesses. So the staff pretty much takes up all the parking). The vacant parking next door to the front door is not for use by Tea Spa visitors with threats of towing. So you go around the corner to find that most of the street parking is full too. So after driving around for 10 minutes trying to find parking, I ended up being late for my appointment which they docked me for. Not mad about that. I'd rather relax during my massage than have to worry about whether I got towed or not. read more

This was my first visit Tea Spa- Wheaton. It was a wonderful experience. I was nervous because of Corvid. The Spa took all the necessary precautions. The have table set up at the door before you enter with covers for your shoes huge bottle of sanitizer and instructions required to enter the facility. The staff took my temperature when I entered. After everything checked out with me they lead me to the massage room. It was peaceful and there was relaxing music playing. The lighting in the room was perfect. Now here's the best part. Jenny. Jenny is absolutely amazing. I have had numerous massages' over the years. Jenny took her time to really relax the tightness and stress I was feeling. I could tell that she knew what she was doing. Very well trained. I loved it. After the massage, I slept like a baby. This Spa is my new method for relieving stress. I have nothing but good things to say .. it was perfect. I am very pleased with the safety and cleanliness at TeaSpa in Silver Spring, MD. They are following the guidelines and I am not at all worried about any health issues. I have made an appointment for my second massage since their reopening from the pandemic. It's a wonderful, relaxing experience, which everyone could use during these times. From the moment you get to the front door until you check out, the staff treats you with the utmost care and safety. Massages during the pandemic: Tea spa went above and beyond to make sure they took all necessary precautions when administering services. My boyfriend and I got a couples massage on September 1st for the grand re-opening. We were immediately greeted by Jane who had us sanitize our hands and put on shoe covers. Jane then checked our temperature before we could enter the spa. Our male masseuse, Aly, led us to our room where Jane and Aly discussed all of the safety measures that the staff has taken including fresh linens, mask and gloves, face covers on the massage table, and sanitation. We both wore our mask during the massage and we felt very comfortable. The beds were heated which felt wonderful. We got a great couples massage at an awesome rate. Our massage therapist were thorough and took care of all our needs. Aly gave me an amazing massage literally from head to toe. There was pleasant relaxing spa music playing and the room was large enough that we didn't feel crammed in there. The front desk staff member was also very friendly. I know that these are scary times, but tea spa made me feel reassured that I was safe during my massage. I would highly recommend Tea Spa especially during this pandemic. Bought the groupon for a couples hot stone massage but they let me use it for a couple therapeutic instead (very understanding staff). Had no trouble finding it, but my heart did sink when I saw the building and I had a moment of "what did I get myself into." That changes the second you walk inside. Wonderful relaxing atmosphere; must have been at least 4 massage therapists on staff (on a Tuesday evening), everyone was respectful and kind; and I can not speak highly enough of my massage therapist: David. I'm a female acrobat, so my shoulders, traps and upper back take a lot of abuse. David could immediately find all my problem areas and was very careful about only using pressure and techniques I was comfortable with. Days later I still can't stop marveling at the ease with which I can move my neck and shoulders. I can't be certain of this, but from my discussion with the staff it seems most of the massage therapists are certified in multiple health/wellness practices. At least two were athletic trainers and one was a counselor. I will with out a doubt be back to this spa, especially at the extremely reasonable prices they offer for such skilled services. P.S. Probably going to get a facial there at some point. They use dermatologica, an absolutely amazing skin line. read more

I really liked my massage and it accomplished what I really wanted; release the tension from my neck and shoulders. The atmosphere is very nice and cozy, smells good and the music is very relaxing. The outsides... hmm not so good looking but don't let that deceive you (that's my neighborhood and I can tell you it's very safe). Also, they have limited parking. That's is not a problem for me because I live close, but you should at least be ready for that. I had to call several times before I got to someone and was able to make an appointment. But I also called on Sunday right when they were opening, so I feel like I have no basis to judge in that area. I will definitely go back. read more

Went in for a couple's signature massage.... Great experience, the place was super clean, cozy, smelled really good. From the moment we walked in we felt the calm and relaxing environment.. We were greeted by name which was a huge plus for my husband because it showed their attention to detail... We loved the heated massage tables.. The couples massage room was very nice. We had Conrad and Mimi they made us feel very comfortable, were very professional... At the end of our massage Conrad gave me advice on how to relax my muscles a little more by stretching.. I had a facial at this spa. She was very nice and sweet. I'm surprised though that they charge those prices as it's not a true luxurious place where there is privacy and maybe you have a private area afterwards to indulge further the work that was done. I think it's best to go here if there is a Groupon or certificate. Remember though the people that work here and VERY sweet and attentive. They truly want to do the best job for you. I got the STRESS RELIEVE MASSAGE which was much needed especially in light of COVID. Service was awesome as usual. Tea spa has done a great job to provide a safe and super clean environment: using UV light in each room to disinfect the air in between each client, using three layers of sheets per client, using a waterproof cover for the massage table and face cradle, and using alcohol to wipe all surfaces. We wear masks during sessions (me and my therapist). In addition, I was asked to wear shoe covers(provided at the front door), and use hand sanitizers (also provides at the door) prior entering the spa before. read more

I used a groupon for my first visit (a gift from my husband) and I was happy to have found this place! I had a massage with Iris and got my eyebrows waxed with Suyun. The massage was excellent- the pressure was just right and I felt so relaxed afterwards. Iris did a great job! I only have very minor criticisms based on experiences at other spas. An eye pillow for when the client is on their back would be just a little added touch that makes a big difference. Also, again, very minor, but the therapist's hands (and the lotion) was so cold when she initially started my massage- startled me a bit. Just something to keep in mind. But again, the massage was wonderful. My eyebrow wax with Suyun was excellent as well- she did a great job, my brows feel (and look) so much better and there is no redness or anything. She was very professional. I would definitely go back- though I wished someone had talked to me about their membership offer, I might have signed up right then and there. Also, despite it being a little hard to find and parking a little confusing and the outward appearance not much, the inside is tasteful and relaxing. There was some road noise and front desk noise I could hear during my massage but I think turning the music up just a bit or even using a white noise machine would eliminate that without a problem. I definitely recommend trying this place out! It's an affordable spa- and the quality would make you think it would be much more expensive! I bought a groupon for 30 minute massage with 30 minute sauna, but since it's getting warm out they offered to upgrade me to a 60 min massage for $10! Despite being at the intersection of University Blvd and Georgia Ave, the spa is very quiet and relaxing. My room was right by the reception area so I heard the phone ringing twice, but if that were a little quieter it wouldn't be an issue. I was disappointed in the facilities. I was told my husband and I would spend a relaxing time in the sauna, together, and then have a hot stone massage. When we got there the "sauna" was small little box - only one person could comfortably fit at a time. I had a better facility in mind. I'm from New York - where most spas have pristine facilities. The receptionist told us they had run out of robes. Simple arithmetic would have helped to remedy this mishap. Count the number of clients you have booked, anticipate walk ins and order the clean robes accordingly. The massage was nice and the therapists did a great job. However, I would have loved to do an intake form and ask questions so that I would know what to expect. We were not offered one. When I booked the couples massage appointment, no one mentioned to be that there was a groupon available that would have allowed me to save $100.00. Doing this for customers engenders loyalty and I perhaps would consider returning. To top it off, the receptionist, who said she had been working there for three years, was so unfamiliar with the spa menu that she over charged me - she billed me and my husband for individual treatments instead of charging us for the discounted couples package. If you want a great experience, with state of the art facilities, a robe and customer - oriented service, this is NOT the best spa to go to. read more
