If you want fresh ingredients and most importantly, fresh boba, this is the place for you! Some of the best pearls I've had to date! Had a great experience at Tealicious Bubble and I highly recommend a stop by if you're ever in the downtown Evanston area! Strawberry Matcha Latte: Okay first, this drink is aesthetically so pretty with a gradient matcha green, milk white, and strawberry red. The matcha flavor was strong and the crushed strawberries on bottom was a surprisingly nice touch and made the drink taste fresh. Taro Bubble Green Tea Latte: My brother and I were kind of confused why this drink wasn't purple when we received it & then realized it's because Tealicious uses real taro in their drink!! The drink tasted sweet and earthy with taro bits on the bottom. Brown Sugar Bubble Tea Latte: Tealicious' version of the trendy brown sugar boba had a very thick layer of brown sugar syrup on the bottom and (do I dare say) the ratio for milk to brown sugar was perfect. I came across this place while looking for a different place that I was going to visit in Evanston. Just by its name, TEAlicious BUBBLE caught my attention. I immediately looked up the menu on their website and liked what I saw. So I decided to check it out while hangin' out in Evanston. The night I went there, they were busy, which is good. The shop is well lit and it has a decent size sitting area. There's a menu on the wall, left of the service counter, that shows the different drinks this place has to offer (see one of my photos). I was impressed by their variety. There's a full menu on the wall behind the service counter/ kitchen. I asked the girl at the register who was taking our order what she would recommend for the first time visitors and what were their popular drinks. She said to go with the Brown Sugar Milk Bubble Tea or Bubble Tea Latte. I remembered from Hong Kong trip from earlier in the year that my wife and were on a mission to find this one popular joint there for Brown Sugar Milk Tea but we couldn't make it. So I opted to go for the Brown Sugar Bubble Tea Latte. The girl who took my order asked how much ice and sugar I wanted in my drink. There's a sign on the counter by the register that indicated the amount of ice and sugar you can choose to have for your drinks. I thought that was neat. The wait for our order wasn't long. I liked my drink a lot. It not only looked good but tasted pretty good as well. I became a fan. I liked TEAlicious a lot. From the welcoming atmosphere and relaxed vibe, reasonably priced items, a good variety on the menu to good service, TEAlicious is a nice place to enjoy beverages and ice cream (they carry Hershey's ice-cream) and hangout with whomever you are there with. Giving 5 stars for just the bubble tea. This is by far the best bbt option in Evanston (not that it's a high bar). Finally something legit! I'm most definitely not going to the KFT nearby anymore. You can most definitely taste the tea which is something I've always liked for my bubble tea. They also use fresh milk so I guess I can't drink it as much without needing some lactaid. The tea is served with the milk not mixed it so it's kinda pretty. Be sure to mix it up else you'll be drinking sweeten milk and then tea after. The sweetness is fairly standard for the options around Chicago, it's just a tad lesser. The pearls though are really sweet in my opinion and can be a little less so. But I do like white pearls. These pearls were definitely chewy which might not be for everyone. I also had the popcorn chicken which can have a slightly lighter seasoning but that's a personal choice. It's probably fine for most people. I can't quite put my finger on it but there's something a little off about the popcorn chicken. Maybe slightly more batter? Unsure what it was. Really loving this bubble tea place. I'm so glad an authentic tea joint has finally arrived in Evanston! I've been here twice now, bringing my California foodie friend the second time. We've both enjoyed our bubble tea experiences with her likening it to California bubble tea joints. They use quality tea here and no powder flavors. The brown sugar bubble tea latte was very flavorful with the true tea flavor coming through throughout the drink. I got it half sweet and it was perfect. Usually I find that bobba doesn't digest well in my stomach and can cause discomfort, but the bubbles here were light and went down smooth. I've also tried the taro green milk tea and pleasantly found that they puree real taro for the tea! They use it as the natural sweetener for the drink making it a very light and tasty drink! I'd recommend going full sweet for the taro green milk tea as lessening the "sugar" level is just lessening the amount of taro they put in - it's really not very sweet at all so be brave and go full out on this one. Their instagrammable plush toy wall is cute and the waitresses are all very nice, taking the time to explain the differences between the various tea options. Plus is a 10% discount for all students! The temperature inside is quite warm on a hot day outside-- they could make air conditioner more stronger/lower temperature. Sushi Burrito no more... Tealicious has come to take it's place. After hearing a new bubble tea place had opened in town, I knew I had to see what they offered. I've been content with Kung Fu Tea up until now, but Tealicious is different. First of all, their boba/tapioca is absolutely delicious. Super chewy, not over cooked, and the perfect texture. I ordered the brown sugar milk tea and though it was the perfect ratio of tea and milk. You can't customize their drinks, which is kind of a set back for me since I prefer very little sugar in my drinks. Almost little to none (I'm kinda weird like that), but at Tealicious, you don't have a choice. Also, another small thing to note, but the font they used for their menu board is a bit hard to read. This visit I tried the brown sugar milk tea without boba. The brown sugar milk tea is a staple Taiwanese milk tea drink. Never had any boba that's made me want to turn right around any buy the exact same flavor again. With Chinese internationals galore, this place is hands down the best boba place in Evanston. You can't see any trace of Sushi Burrito when you visit, nor would you care to after trying the menu. This is, in my opinion, the best boba place in Evanston (not really that many options but still). My ranking (for milk teas) goes Tealicious, Kung Fu Tea, then Joy Yee. Compared to Kung Fu Tea, the actual tapioca is far more consistent (and there is typically a shorter wait). Joy Yee is perhaps better for smoothies than Tealicious (way bigger selection - though more expensive), but Joy Yee's milk teas aren't really in the same neighborhood as Tealicious or KFT. If your go-to order at other boba spots is the original/black milk tea, that equates to the Assam Milk Tea here. The tea is strong and, as any respectable boba joint should, they let you adjust the ice and sugar levels. The Assam Milk Tea is my consistent go-to but I have also had the Jasmine and Oolong Milk Teas and they are both fine. The "tea lattes" are essentially milk teas too, and there are some interesting options here. I like the "Japanese Matcha Strawberry Latte" here (which closely resembles the same drink made famous by Boba Guys in the Bay Area) when I have more of a sweet tooth. The smoothies are great and made with fresh fruit! Their menu is less extensive than Joy Yee (which has a lot more exotic fruit options) but the price point is lower which I appreciate. Lastly, there is a pretty good food menu here filled with Taiwanese/Canto comfort foods. I have only tried the Egg Waffles - which are excellent - but I have heard good things about the rotating menu of bento boxes. Don't forget to show your student ID if you're a student! read more

My sister and I made a trip out to Evanston for this place when I found it on Yelp! I decided to try the drink that seemed most popular, "Brown Sugar Bubble with milk" - regular sugar amount and my sister ordered a Mango smoothie with Strawberry bursting boba and half sugar. We parked and paid for 20min parking. After ordering we waited for that whole 20min when our drinks were put on the counter. There were 4 drinks being made ahead of ours and only 1 person making them all. Once our drinks were ready, we of course posed them in front of the stuffed animal wall and then left to try them so we didn't get a parking ticket. The brown sugar drink definitely needs to be thoroughly shaken before sipping so as to not sip on pure brown sugar syrup-- bleh! The mango smoothie definitely tasted like real mango with sweet strawberry boba. This place had some average bubble teas, not the best I've ever had but nothing special. I tried the taro bubble with milk, Assam milk tea, and triple berries smoothie, all with boba. Their best drink was the classic Assam milk tea. It tasted like classic milk tea, fairly average. The taro bubble with milk was very disappointing. I was in Evanston and was super excited to stumble across this yelp page and try out TEAlicious. We came on a Saturday afternoon, and there was a steady flow of customers, but still calm enough for you to find an open table. Most of the customer base are likely Northwestern University students catching up with each other, or working on homework / extracurriciulars together. They have a huge wall of plushies which is very instagrammable. Between my husband and I, we ordered the Japanese Matcha Latte (with almond milk) and a Assam Milk Tea both with tapioca. I like how they allow you to customize the ice and sugar levels. The tapioca texture was perfect, although it was a little sweet. This was fine for me since I only got half sugar levels with both drinks. I was a little disappointed with the Matcha Latte. It had little to no tea taste and seemed water down. I didn't even finish it. The Assam Milk tea was the clear winner of the two. It tasted more like HK Style milk tea, as opposed to Taiwan style milk tea. Time to christen this establishment with its first review. THE former Sushi Burrito is no more. Good, since the food was fine but my stomach inexplicably hurt after eating there each time. Well thanks to Evanston's revolving door of restaurants, with high RPM turnover propelled by both high rent and high demand, we are newly delivered Tealicious Bubble. There is other boba in town, found among the various Asian eateries, but previously the only dedicated boba spot had been Kung Fu Tea (KFT). KFT is maybe the most prolific chain spanning from coast-to-coast, and I was content with their offerings. In general, I'm satisfied with boba having been prepared same day, meaning most dedicated boba places scratch my itch (see hierarchy in review below). But first maybe a little bit more about me. Raised in SoCal, my first experience with "boba" was at a high school food-truck-type event that was held every so often. A mainstay of such event was the In-N-Out truck that would leave muddied tire tracks through our quad but served delicious and otherwise unobtainable lunch time In-N-Out to our closed campus. Double-double I'm sure in hand, a friend of mine compelled me to try this alien drink with a fat 12-gauge straw. Around me others had had already taken to using it to shoot the tapioca ammunition at various targets. Upon first sip, I hated it, and after amusing myself with my new tapioca-dart-gun for a while, threw it out. Luckily I was compelled to try again, and after that once-over I acquired the taste for (generally) half parts milk, half parts tea. From there, and due to the high-percentage-Asian makeup of my friend group, I highly anticipated every new boba shop opening in town, and would even drive upwards of an hour away to try out some of Diamond Bar and West Covina's mythical boba locations like Black&White (now called Uncle Tea) and Half and Half. This was all circa 2011-2012. I moved to the east coast after this time and faced utter boba desolation. First of all it was now only referred to as bubble tea, and was available only as a side offering at Asian restaurants. This is category 3, and should be avoided. I will now go ahead and formerly delineate the hierarchy: 3. Asian restaurants with bubble tea side offerings. The worst quality. Tapioca often hardened, not prepared day-of. Not recommended under any circumstances. 2. The "KFT"s of the world. These places satisfy the boba itch, have freshly prepared tapioca, but often still offer only monotonous flavor, and don't themselves become a dessert. This is often the fate of franchised boba locations, and comprise almost all of the bubble tea shops on the east coast. 1. The grails. Artisan-style boba that's made to impress. Here were the California offerings, with brown-sugar, honey-infused boba, specified sweetness and ice levels, pudding, and signature drinks. The drink itself becomes a full dessert, and a trip to get the boba a full outing. Often also serving toast or waffles. After a boba drought almost a decade since the tea first breached the west coast, Evanston may be seeing its first Grail, and quite possibly the first in the midwest. Tealicious Boba, only soften opened, has apparently gone for gold and offers Category 1 appeal. Will they stay for more than a single annual cycle of Evanston's culinary revolving door? Will Northwestern undergrads make it that far out into downtown Evanston to support it? I believe it has the makings for success. read more

While they've got cute branding, a wall of stuffed animals great for Instagram, and lots of seating, I didn't like how their only sweetener option was cane sugar... no honey? The items felt overpriced for what it was. Especially compared to all the other competitors in the area who have cult followings and larger portions. I got a lemon green tea for $4 without tax, it was probably the most expensive lemon green tea I've ever had, mind you it was without boba too. And regular sized. My friend got a mango smoothie, also regular sized for $4.50 without tax. Her smoothie was alright, but the white boba tasted like lychee which was a nice surprise. I appreciate their little picture for sugar and ice levels, I'm sure it can help people who weren't aware they could adjust their drinks. However, the Asian in me didn't like how there weren't numbers. So it wasn't clear just how less sweet each option was or how much less ice meant. Couldn't really picture it in my mind in relation to cup size. Which explained my confusion as to why my lemon green tea was SO tart! It made me pucker as I asked for little sugar. I didn't expect it to be that little, it was as if it was 10% sugar level. Green tea matcha waffle was pretty good, not too sweet, but the dough wasn't fully cooked in the middle for us. Evanston has one of the worst boba places e-v-e-r. So I was pretty ecstatic when this new place opened up this month. It certainly is the best boba joint in Evanston so far. You don't taste the powder mixed in with syrup compared to other places. Drinks are on the less-sweet side, especially if you get it with 50 percent sweetness. Boba texture is great and is very sweet which goes well with the drink. I would recommend the matcha strawberry. Popcorn chicken is absolutely totally entirely wholeheartedly awful. It's not crunchy, the amount compared to the price is a no no, and the aftertaste is yuck yuck yuck. There is only one cup size 16oz, you can choose the sweetness level 100 or 50, and ice amount 100 or 50. Street parking available. Free wifi. Good for singles, couples, and small groups. read more

My fiance and I decided to give this place a try because we were in Evanston. I had the brown sugar bubble with milk and he had the mixed fruit smoothie. We also ordered the original bubble waffle. Overall, our experience was pleasant. They offer the option to make your drink more or less sweet, which is a huge plus because often I feel my drink is too sweet when I order bubble tea at other places. The bubble waffle was interesting, but surprisingly it wasn't as sweet as I hoped. It did not compare to a dessert or pastry... Great stuff here! Got a few bento boxes to go and a couple drinks and everything was delicious. Note that if you want to order take out, if you're planning on picking up, you can order directly on their website and get 10% off! We got the strawberry smoothie and the mung bean smoothie. The strawberry smoothie was ok, but the mung bean smoothie was out of this world. I haven't had a mung bean anything in years, and so this was a blast from the past. Perfectly sweet, still had some texture and the quintessential green bean flavor. I got it with half the sugar, even then it was pretty darn sweet, so I'd recommend 50% if not less sugar to not give yourself a sugar attack. I'll be ordering a large next time I go! We also ordered the chicken teriyaki, the minced pork cucumber over rice, and the pork belly over rice. Being Taiwanese, coming from a mom who cooks Taiwanese often, and having grown up in SoCal (Taiwanese mecca) and traveling to Taiwan often as a child, I miss my Taiwanese food and this hit the spot - yay! My mom usually makes minced pork cucumber into meatballs which is one of my favorite dishes, and this minced pork cucumber over rice dish was an easier way of getting there. The pork belly was also very flavorful, had a good ratio of meat to fat, and while only had 5 pieces, I realized that was more than enough for a meal. The side dishes vary, and I would've loved to get the tomato egg combo they have in their pics, but instead they had cauliflower/broccoli cooked in some sesame oil, corn, and a soy sauce egg. Loved the soy sauce egg, it was well executed for a drink shop, had great flavors with still tender egg whites. The corn was good and balanced the umami of the rice and sauce. The cauliflower and broccoli could've been cooked a bit longer, it had some bitterness still to it. All in all, they're not the cheapest, with the above costing about $50, but it hits the spot if you're looking for boba, Taiwanese drinks, or some fast casual Taiwanese bites.
