So much potential! Maybe it was an off day but my food was lackluster. Mostly bc it wasn't fresh and everything was cold. The chicken was downright Bawkin awful. It was small, all bones, and really really chewy! was it overcooked? It barely had meat and had a weird coldness to it. Almost like it was refrigerated and then quickly flash fried for 5 seconds. The bbq pork was lukewarm and the flavored dropped off with each bite but u can tell this would be absolutely bomb if it were hot and fresh in the AM. The pork belly has great texture with a thin crispiness that didn't make your teeth chip off. It was delicious and not too salty like pork belly tends to be. The vegetable garlic Anh Choy was delicious. Flavorful, savory, crispy yet juice and the roasted whole garlic pieces...my breath may stink but man, it was amazing. It was one of my favs. With all that said, I could tell that if u were the first customer in the AM and everything was fresh, it could tip the scales to a 4 star rating. People mostly ate it with the noodles being crispy. By the time I got to it, the hot water at the bottom cooked some of the noodles and I had it semi cooked. Which my stomach didnt like (I have weak stomach). I dont recall trying the seafood lol Beef chow fun is super oily. My family members love it, but it took me like 2 bites of the noodles and the beef to know its not right for me. It looks good, just really oily for my liking. Came here with a group of 6 since it's one of my friend's favorite BBQ places in Sacrament, and this place did not disappoint! We came around 11:30am and there were plenty of seating, but there aren't a lot of big tables, so larger groups may be challenging. There was really only 1 table that fit our group of 6. There's a dedicated parking lot, but it's a bit narrow to get in and out of. Since we had 3 couples in our groups, we ended up mostly ordering a two entree rice plate with an extra BBQ dish to share. My boyfriend and I ordered roasted duck and pork neck meat as part of the rice plate, and crispy pork as the a la carte BBQ item. The duck was a bit too fatty for me, but the flavors were really good. I enjoyed both the pork neck and crispy pork a lot, and highly recommend those dishes! We also ended up ordering the stir-fried belachan ong cai and soy sauce tofu to share for the table, which were both really good. My friends also really liked the iced lemon tea (which is cheaper when you order with the rice place). For me there's a floral scent to it that's interesting, but definitely worth a try. read more

Finally, my hubby and I got a chance to try this restaurant. Many people have recommended it. We came here on Wednesday at noon; we got seated after waiting 5 minutes. We ordered a combo BBQ platter: pork neck and roast pork. Their BBQ platter is delicious, significantly how they cut it, not too thick or too thin. The meat was also flavorful and crispy. It came with rice and Napa cabbage. So we had biang biang noodles and duck with hor fun noodles soup. We're satisfied with our meal; we don't recommend biang biang noodles; it wasn't unique; the noodles can get from 99 Ranch and add some chili oil. I like the hor fun soup, the soup wasn't too MSG. The tiramisu milk tea with boba was good, too. It was not overly sweet, and I requested less ice. It's perfect. The restaurant has much seating, and the staff were quite efficient. The parking here can sometimes be a little difficult if it's lunch rush or on the weekend. read more

It's been years since I've been to this spot, and it is way better than I remember it being! Was looking for a quick "lighter" chinese food for dinner with a group of friends. We tried to get the deep-fried pork skin, but they had already sold out. So we got the duck with bbq pork for the BBQ plate, and it was delicious - not even a single grain of rice was left on the plate. We also got the beef brisket noodle soup, which was tasty. The beef was so tender and soft with each bite. The spicy cucumber was also so good. It disappeared almost the minute it was placed in the table. We came in on a Saturday around 8pm and it was super busy! But the waiters worked really hard to get us seated as soon as possible. First review of the new year!! When I had the craving for some Chinese food, friends recommended this Hong Kong cafe/restaurant. From boba to foods, they have quite a variety here. The parking lot was quite busy when I was here, but there seems to be a constant traffic of in and out... there will be a spot if you wait a bit. As for many Chinese places, the service is very lackluster and tables are sticky so I always have the food speak for itself. The few times that I have gone so far, it's usually off hours where the staff were having their meals and switching off - service is curt, but efficient. I would imagine it gets quite loud in here when they have a full house as there are lines to organize sit in diners and such. Gives me the feel of what I'd expect from a typical HK cafe with good food. A recommendation that my friends gave was to try the Biang Biang noodles as well as their boba fruit teas. I am absolutely in love with these Biang Biang noodles, enough that I'll come here just for these noodles alone. It has the spice and flavor all together, balanced and absolutely delicious. There's a nice chewy bite with the noodles being long, hand made if I'm not wrong. To be honest, from the bbq pork fried rice to beef chow fun - it's all good; it's nothing I would be raving about, but more that it is as what I would expect it to be. I would almost say that it's the Biang Biang noodles carrying the menu in my opinion and preference. There are quite a lot of take out orders and it seemed that they get them out in fairly good time. I did also tried the signature passion fruit tea; it was refreshing and not too sweet, a good balance of the flavors. When opening the box it's already arranged differently than other places when you order their whole duck But as we removed the bigger places we find that very few pieces had meat on it. There were barely any meat. Pretty oily and some pieces were quite charred. My son already had some part of the next job and towards the end we found so much neck I doubt it's all from the same duck. It was also quite expensive $31.99 for a while duck that had barely any meat. Well stick to People's for their roasted duck and Peking Duck. Glad we got to try this but we won't be back. Very disappointing! Not that the food wasn't good, but it's the way this restaurant do business. They don't treat their customers honestly and fairly. This afternoon, my husband bought half a roast duck to go. As usual, the duck is cut up in pieces. When we got home, we found that the duck breast was missing, other than the leg, the rest were just ends and pieces of the neck and the back. I then checked their Yelp Review and found that there had been many similar incidents and complaints. I'd be lying to you if I said the service was excellent. I was lucky just to get the waitress to take my order. We dined in and they don't automatically bring water, but they will offer while bringing your order. We ordered milk teas and they were reasonably priced and good. I had the beef stew rice plate and my daughter had the shredded duck soup. I ordered fried calamari and the crispy tofu for an appetizer. My beef stew was tough and her soup was bland. Our total was 68.00 without tip. It was steep for mediocre food. I've heard a lot of good things about this restaurant and wanted to cross it off my list. I went around late morning on a Saturday, and it got really busy when it got to afternoon so I would be cautious what time you're planning to go. I ordered the roasted duck BBQ and thought it was a cooked and prepared really well. There were some parts that were harder to eat because it didn't have as much of the juice as other parts of the duck. From the leftover seasoning and juice from the duck, it flavored the rice which I really liked so it didn't taste plain if I chose to eat some rice by itself. I thoroughly enjoyed how the bok choy was prepared. I dislike eating it completely raw or too soggy, but it was perfect for me here. The calamari didn't meet my expectations. I thought it was unique on how it was fried, but it was more soft and chewy. I just don't think it was worth the price. I took a bite of the beef stew and thought it was really good as well. Very easy to cut apart and easily digestible. The strawberry matcha latte was also really good. I made sure to really stir the drink first so that I could taste the strawberry since it was at the very bottom. The place gets busy very fast, so it could get really loud. Went here years ago and was not happy with the service. That was during their soft/grand opening. Suffice to say I came back due to my brother having recently "discovered" this place and swore it is the best bbq duck/pork he ever had. He states he even cleans his plate every time he goes here. The crispy pork on my plate was fine, but my sister in law's crispy pork tasted like it was dipped and rolled in salt. She could not eat it (nor could anyone else at the table). That's how salty it was, which is how I started to feel about the lackluster customer service and food. We gave it another chance and ordered a BBQ platter to go for dinner Sunday night ($35). It comes with bbq pork/duck, empress chicken and crispy pork. Ordering over the phone was a nightmare due to miscommunication. They said they were out of bbq duck so will substitute with empress chicken. When we got there, they did end up having bbq duck still. We thought it was the wrong order since it was not what we were told. Looking at the tray, it was disappointing. We didn't even receive half an empress chicken. More like 1/4.
