People wrote their name down on a tablet and were kept waiting and getting desperate as the staff would leave the area and not come back. Customers cutting in front and pushing and no one to direct the chaos. The food areas were messy and the staff were very overwhelmed with all the people coming in. They kept telling people to wait outside in 105 degree weather. The promotional pricing was clearly successful in attracting a large number of customers; however, the restaurant seemed underprepared for the volume of people it brought in. Staffing and service capacity did not appear to match the level of demand, which significantly impacted the overall experience." The hot pots are split & sectioned so you can pick 2 broths for each hot pot. This was my first time here. I opted for the mushroom broth. They have a decent selection. They also have some cooked food. Like fried rice chow mein chicken wings,. For my pot, I tried their noodles-ramen & the wide noodle, fish, shrimp, octopus, tofu, fried bean curd & veggies. I tried their sauces and I love sesame sauce but this was just ok. The fried bun wasn't bad & their sesame balls were really good. Staff were friendly. It was so hot eating here because it was super busy. And on top of it being over 100+ didn't help. There are more items added to each tier they previously had, and they've also added the $19.99 special (Monday-Friday Dinners) permanently. Happy Lamb is my favorite hot pot in the Sacramento area because of their Original Marrow Broth. It's so delicious and flavorful, and you cannot find it anywhere else. They also have a new drink menu and a a rewards club. You just need to sign up at the end of your meal with your phone number and name. They were running a weekday, all day special: Valuable for 19.99/per person. For an AYCE hot pot dinner, what a deal! There are about 5 proteins to choose from, and we ended up trying all but the chicken. They also have seafood, noodles, veggies, dumplings, and tofu at the at the buffet. There is fried rice, chow mein, chicken wings, and a couple other hot sides available. We went during their last hour of business, so they weren't trying to refill those sides with a fresh batch. None of the choices looked appetizing to me. I was all about the hot pot. We chose the original and the original spicy broth. The spicy was just a little bit too spicy for me, so we mostly ate the original, or I mixed the two in my bowl. It took our server a few minutes to come over after we were seated, but he was attentive enough (and polite) when we needed to order more protein or other requests. Unlimited self-serve fountain drinks are .99/ea. Sauce bar is great and was well stocked. The hot pot is delicious and worth the value price for AYCE. I was sad that there was no lamb for the meat options for the $19.99 tier. I went here to celebrate my husbands birthday with my parents and they just recently changed their lunch special to only $19.99 for their weekday lunch. It comes with beef short plate or angus beef, garlic beef, chicken or pork slices. You have access to the entire buffet with veggies, noodles and a few appetizers. You can pay an extra 99 cents per person to have access to their sauce bar and also unlimited soft drinks. We decided to get the original marrow broth and we had it watered down a bit with water to make the broth lighter. Veggies and buffet items were fresh and the meat was good quality especially for the price. My husband also got his meal free for his birthday which is such a great deal but you need to have at least 4 people in your party and show ID to prove your birthday is within one day of your actual birthdate. The Waitlist Is a Joke, I've never felt so disrespected at a restaurant before. We checked in on the Yelp waitlist, waited patiently, and finally got the notification that our table was ready. When we arrived, the hostess actually asked if we'd be willing to give up our table for another party. We said no . There is another group after us and they got one person more than us, they are not even on the waitlist! The hostess said they set up the table for us, but when the table ready, that's another small table, not the big one they supposed to gave us .They send the other group to the big table !! Then the manager or owner came over and told us our table would take another hour to be ready. Complete lie - it was clearly just an excuse. The hostess even threatened the manager to fire her on the spot, saying she wouldn't give us the table either. The manager turned to us and basically said "sorry, nothing we can do" . They literally kicked us out for wanting what we were already promised. Horrible management, zero accountability, and a waitlist system that means absolutely nothing. I always get the "Best of Both Worlds" broth options: Herbal and Spicy. Their angus beef is one of the choices we get every round. Although, I wasn't a huge fan of their garlic beef. It was a bit too weird in texture to me. Veggies, noodles, fish balls, etc., are all buffet style. You just go up and grab what you need. It's organized, and fresh, and nicely presented. However, first thing I noticed upon seating was that my spoon, bowl and plate all were dirty and had specks of leftover food on it! I even checked with my other party members and they all had something that was not washed properly! We were so disgusted! The server noticed us inspecting and gave us new utensils and dishes. When we went to grab sauces, there were specks of debris on like all the dishes. Omg. So disgusting. You can feel how it is a bit raised and not supposed to be there. You can scratch it off. The metal spoons they have on the side with other utensils were also so dirty. It had dried red sauce stuck on it and just so unsanitary. I will give them credit that their soup broth, meats and food bar were very good. I like their original marrow broth and their tomato one. Steven was our server he checked on us a sufficient amount of times he let us know what the prices were and helped us make great decisions there was so much abundance of varieties of different dishes a perfect amount of food to make your experience well worth it. Just a heads up, to gain access to sauce bar, it's an extra $2 but you also get access to the fountain drinks. For the buffet area, it's things like udon and other carbs, veggies, and seafood to grab. I went immediately for the udon and fish balls. We ordered a lot of lamb, which I highly recommend for the sweetness. For the soup, you can choose up to two kinds.
