Yesterday, today and tomorrow…read more I have been a semi regular customer at their service department for a decade because the owner has been able to balance quality service with reasonable pricing. That is no longer the case as I recently discovered. Yesterday (Feb, 2024) at Star Auto it cost me $39.99 for a regular oil change. Today (July, 2024) I went to Pep Boys and it cost $35.99. Tomorrow if you go to Star Auto expect to pay $82 plus taxes and fees per a sign posted in their service department. Yesterday (Sept, 2023) the cost of tire rotation at Star Auto was $19. Today I had my tires rotated at Star Auto at a cost of $32.55. Tomorrow I will be heading to Pep Boys where there is no charge. Yesterday (Sept 2023) my wife had a synthetic oil change at Star Auto for $89.95. Today (July, 2024) my wife had a synthetic oil change for $78.68 including taxes at Pep Boys. Tomorrow if you go for a synthetic oil change at Star Auto expect to pay $115 plus taxes per a sign posted in the service department.

I am personally a numbers/breakdown guy, and he consistently broke down the new deal each time we agreed on something. When I drove there for a test drive, they treated me and my family with the utmost kindness and respect. NEVER did I feel any pressure from them to make the deal happen. They simply gave me the numbers, broke everything down, gave me an honest and competitive offer on my trade-in, and ultimately got the sale. The interaction left me feeling positive about this dealership, so I requested an appointment to see that specific car. They confirmed my appointment via text multiple times. The morning of the appointment (that's today!) I decided to text that same number to confirm that the vehicle was still there, as the drive to this dealership is almost 2 hours from my home. They responded & told me that the vehicle was sold, but I should take a look at their other options & let them know which I was interested in so they could have them ready for my appointment. I never showed any interest in their other vehicles. I was very clear that there was one single car I wanted to see, & so that's the car I made an appointment to see. They sold the car & were never going to tell me. They were going to let me drive 2 hours one way to find out the car was gone. That's a really dodgy business practice. Not only will I not be buying a vehicle from a dealership willing to waste my time like this, I'll definitely be advising other people to stay away as well.
