Half eaten breakfast lol super good!

Walking in on a sunday at 11. There wasnt anyone in here I dont know why?! The tables are clean and chairs are metal with cushions. There isn't a breakfast menu other then whats on the chalk board. Being seated and ordering was fast! Drinks came out quick. Food came out fast! We did 2 mammas fill up. With french toast. The food was great! Very well cooked and seasoned. The home style potatoes were super. Everything was warm and eggs over easy were cooked with runny centers! Perfect! Everyone is super friendly and prices were fair. Theres 5 tvs in the seating area of the restaurant showing sports. Its a relaxing atmosphere. Feels like visting a friends house. They have a nice dessert menu with to go options and they serve lunch and dinner options also to go for pick up. We will be back soon to try more items. Their updated menu is on facebook and on google reviews. This place is place is where I would go vs ziggys for sure based on flavor and speed!!

You might be puzzled by the combination of low and high reviews. Those who are patient won't be rewarded by some incredibly polished restaurant operation but instead rewarded with family recipes with creole and soul food influences. The owner briefly left the kitchen to ask where we were from and how we had heard of the restaurant (Yelp). This remodeled Pizza Hut is a treasure to the Havelock community. We wish we were locals so we could try more dishes.

This place is adorable and very homey. The service was great and the food was good as well. We have only been once and it was for breakfast but we will be back.

If it wasn't for Allison, it would've been a 1 star. I give these low ratings out less than 5 stars and feel this was well deserved. Pulled up with my partner in crime, wanting to test out a new place for me and, my ride or die, lovely wife. This place has been on the list to try for a while and today was the day. Greeted by Allison at a little after 12:30 and the place was empty....uh oh goes through my head...Allison mentioned we could sit anywhere at which time we take a window seat. Allison asks for our drinks and apps at which time we asked for recommendations and she directed us to the crab dip. Ok, we'll try it. Went ahead and placed orders for a Bourbon Chicken with a side of collards, pork ribs with slaw, hush puppies and crab bisque. Here we go...crab dip came out too hot. Yes, that's possible since the hotter you get cream cheese, the more it turns into a soup than a dip. Waited for it to cool down, thicken up and we gave it a try. More cream cheese than anything with sprinkles of crab. No real seasoning as well. Wanted to ask for some Old Bay, Tony's, something to give it a little boost. ...NOPE..Sad thing is, this was the best part of the meal. I would not say 16 bucks worth though. 8 at best on a dinner menu, 6 for lunch. Got the crab bisque.. oh my..this was absolutely horrible. I didn't even want my wife to try it cause it was soo bad not to mention that bisque is expected to be a little thicker in texture which this was not. Tasted as if it went bad 2 days ago.. Bourbon Chicken was more of a Spanish chicken than Bourbon Chicken. If there is someone that knows Bourbon, it would be my partner..Chicken with a healthy portion of tomatoes over rice. Tasted like a Spanish rice dinner instead of a Bourbon Chicken. Momma indicated the Collards were ok but still, not what she is expecting for " southern/soul" food. I get the ribs that were also much less than desirable. Had a little off of one bone. They did fall apart but were soo dry. I will give the rest to my pups. They will enjoy them. Slaw, as you can see in the pics, was a bit soupy. I don't mind it soo much but my wife is not a fan. Flavor was ok but nothing to really talk about. Hush puppies rounded out the meal and they were pretty good. The combination of Allison, hush puppies and cooled down ok crab dip kept it out of the 1 star spot. You can see that our Bill was 60 bucks after they took the crab off. For a lunch and less than ideal food in a military town, gonna be a long hard road.. Allison, thanks for chatting with us and wish you the best. We will not be back but wish you all luck in the future.

When I walked in I was greeted with a warm welcome. As I was seated I noticed that this place really clean, which is unfortunately surprising among a lot of restaurants. Ms. Allison was wonderful and very patient with me The crab bisque was complimented by a soft and moist roll. The main course isn't usually what I pictured meatloaf to look like, but it was delicious nonetheless. The mashed potatoes tasted like actual potatoes! It's hard to screw up collard greens so that's still a plus. It's really cool to see people actually care about their business, and this place is no exception! Overall, it was a nice and calm experience and would totally recommend to anybody in the area!

Outstanding. The best shrimp and grits I've ever had and I have had them all over the US.

Southern Harvest Soul Food - 3 out of 5 stars…read more I hate to be the guy who leaves bad reviews, especially after giving a place multiple chances, but this was unfortunately the last straw for me. I drove nearly an hour to get to this restaurant, excited to try the oxtails. Upon arrival, I was told they were no longer being served because they were out. This marks the third time I've driven there specifically for oxtails and was unable to get them due to being out of stock. This wasn't late in the afternoon either--I arrived right at lunch opening. I know what some of you are thinking: why not call ahead? You're absolutely right. That mistake is on me, and I've definitely learned that lesson. On a previous visit, I tried the shrimp and grits, and I'll give credit where it's due--they were actually phenomenal and easily the best thing I've had there. Unfortunately, my other experiences haven't matched that quality. The last time I visited, I settled for the brisket burrito. While sweet and savory can work together, this one was overwhelmingly sweet and just didn't hit the mark. I also asked for a Diet Coke and was told they only had Sprite, regular Coke, and water, which was surprising. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy, which had almost no flavor. For a southern soul food restaurant, that was pretty disappointing. I don't plan on coming back. I'm not mad--just disappointed. I hope this review helps others avoid making a long drive expecting a specific dish only to find out it's unavailable.

That was totally fine - but we ended up waiting about 10 minutes - even better!! They'll put your name on a wait list then send you a text so you can easily track when your table is almost due. We went for good food and left super satisfied. My mom ordered the Southern Breakfast which offered a good amount of food and she loved it, she said the ham was very tasty and that it tasted like bacon! It was nice for that option you could choose a biscuit or toast as a side. We also got a single biscuit and gravy to share. The gravy was delicious and the chorizo added a nice little spicy kick to it. I can see why these are so popular here! My brother ordered the dirty south biscuit and he was also very satisfied. It had a little bit of everything and was steps above a traditional breakfast sandwich. I personally ordered a pancake topped with strawberries and I love that they offer to bake the strawberries in too. Bacon was crispy, thick. Everything was super fresh. Our server was wonderful and I regret not catching her name. She came about 5 times to ask if we needed anything, any extra coffee, coffee to go. She was exceptional and I appreciate that they are so detail oriented here. We had a great meal and ate very comfortably here. Only issue is that we were slightly ready for a nap after. So happy to have stopped by!
