The restaurant was overbooked. Tables were too close together. A member of our party was bumped three times by a server before tables were moved. The server was slow. No bread until asked. Wine took 20 minutes to reach the table. Main course took an hour and 45 minutes to reach the table. There were no explanations for an hour and a half. Management at that point was appropriately and sincerely apologetic. They sent a bottle of wine to the table. When there was no food at 90 minutes they sent us a complimentary appetizer. When the main course included a dish (medium rare pork chop) that was overcooked and inedible. Management offered us gift certificates, but expected the bill to be paid. We suggested that we would prefer not to be charged for the experience and management took care of the bill. Needless to say we were not the only table experiencing intolerable delays without explanation. I did appreciate the honest acceptance of responsibility by management. read more

Went here last night with two girlfriends. We had a 6pm reservation. Each of us ordered one of their brick oven pizzas, which were very good. Special shout out for the Tartufo pizza. Our waiter was fine; no issues with him. If the food was good, why only 3 stars? I have two problems with this place; mandatory valet parking is one of them. This is a personal pet peeve; why can't I have the option to park my own dang car and walk if I want to? That irritated me off the bat. The other issue that soured the evening was the owner/manager. After my friend had finished her coffee, we were chit chatting and had paid the bill. The owner started hovering near our table, and then at one point was at the next table over, which had recently left, and was fussing over the napkins and said (loudly enough for us to hear), "I really need this table, I really need this table." We weren't sure if that comment was directed at us or not, but were uncomfortable at that point and left. If it was directed towArds us, there are much nicer ways to go about it - maybe asking us if we needed anything else, etc. The restaurant was jammed in the bar when we left, so he probably did need the table, but I think there could be some Lessons in tact given to the owner. read more

I went to Teca with my wife on sat night. We had 7:45 reservations. We arrived at 7:15 and wanted to have a drink at the bar. We checked in with the hostess and we were told check back with her @ 7:45. That was a bit of a pain since we had to keep track of the time. We returned to the hostess @ 7:45 an were told the had 2 tables a high top table in a quiet area or a low top in a louder area. We asked for the low top. The low top was in the bar area not in one of the smaller more quiet rooms. My wife and I started off with the Italian wedge of salad and I had the escarole & bean soup. The soup was hot and tasty. My wife enjoyed the salad. She said it tasted like a BLT. she enjoyed the salad. I had the 14 oz Delmonico steak and my wife had the veal piccata. She said it was her second favorite veal piccata. It was lightly breaded with flour and in a lemon butter sauce. My Delmonico steak was delicious. There is no salt or pepper on the table and there is no need for it. The steak was perfectly seasoned. I asked for it medium rare and it was more medium than rare but well seasoned. For dessert I had the Italian rum cake. It was the perfect ending to a great dinner. read more

Upon walking in, the host was not the most friendly and told me to "hold on" prior to me saying anything. I loved the Teca Mango drink. Delicious and not too strong. I had the chicken parmiagan, which was ok at best. The filet minion was pretty good and the sauce they used was delicious. Just a little undercooked to my liking. I'd like to try something different next time! Our server, Felisha was super sweet and made our dinner quite enjoyable. The managers were friendly and made it a point to visit our table. My husband and I attended a birthday party on December 6, 2014 at this restaurant. The restaurant opened a few weeks prior to this event. We arrived at about 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon. At that time, not too many people were in the restaurant's various rooms. Let me tell you, by the time we were done with the dinner party (about 8:00 p.m.) the place was hopping. There were about 60 people in our party. With that many people, the service was exceptional. There were appetizers on each table and also appetizers were circulated by the servers. Their pizza slices were very tasty, light and easy to pick up. Their mushrooms staffed with something that I don't remember were very tasty. Dinner was also prepared and served in a timely fashion. I had the fish which had a light white sauce. It was perfectly cooked. My husband had the filet mignon which was also cooked perfectly. For a place that had just opened, to serve a large party and to also accommodate their other guests in the restaurant and their bar, i was very impressed with the food and the service. Now their decor I would also give them 5 stars. The restaurant is large but the rooms are divided in such a way that it feels cozy. The colors blend beatifull and compliment each room. The pizza oven near the bar adds an interesting ambience to the restaurant. The service was exceptional from the time you arrive at the parking lot, the attendance were friendly and courteous. The waiters were also very attentive and timely. The whole experience was very pleasant and both my husband and I would definitely go back to experience the restaurant dining. read more

I'm a former patron of Newtown Grill and finally dined at Teca for the first time. The Valet parking was still very convenient, gorgeous decor, clean, reasonable prices, generous portions and excellent customer service. The host was very informative with providing updates as we had a small wait for our table even with Saturday night reservations. The noise level was very loud that made talking amongst my table challenging. The food was "meh" as I personally found the chicken to my chicken parmigiana rather tough and salty. Those who dined with me weren't impressed with their meals either. I was very disappointed and wished I celebrated my birthday dinner elsewhere. read more

Went to Teca last night with another couple. 1st time there. Nice job redoing the place. Sat at the bar for 1 drink. The bartender wansn't too friendly and martinis were small and expensive. A female bartender knew the couple next to us and gave customer a large taste of the wine he was ordering and proceeded to pour him a LARGE glass. Waiter Larry for dinner was very good. Food is way overpriced and just ok. I had penne with shrimp. It had 3 medium shrimp cut up into pieces with just ok red sauce and boxed pasta. Not worth $21. Entrees come with nothing. Short ribs were excellent however entree was $35 and didn't come with any side just a piece of meat with gravy on a plate. Will not return anytime soon. read more

They tried to seat us at a table directly in front of the kitchen and behind the lively Friday evening happy hour scene at the bar. The hostess literally could not hear our first request to get a different table. We were then escorted to a covered outside eating area where the tables were FAR too small for a party of four. (Had to have someone lift and hold the water bottle to reach for a piece of bread). Two of us ordered Crab Napoleon, indicated as "lump crab meat layered...."etc. It was a finely chopped mix with back fin and claw meat. Tasty, but basically a good deli's crab salad. The wood fired pizza was way underdone, the crust chewy and the cheese not completely melted. (The blisters on that crust indicate too much moisture in the dough, not done-ness when it comes out chewy...dough could have been fresher. It was likely prepared either much earlier or the night before. Not a place for a fine dining experience. Maybe happy hours, but not a great restaurant. read more

Service and food definitely does not measure up to the prices. Entrees are huge and literally swimming in sauces. Must have been told a dozen times to "Enjoy" and constantly were asked, "How you folks doin'?" At every step along the way, we were delayed with explanations that the drinks were being prepared, the bread was being toasted, etc. Place needs to decide if it's a bar with food, a pizza place, or a fine Italian restaurant. We had a reservation at 8:30 on a Saturday night didn't sit down until close to 930. The bar was so crowded that it was hard to get a space to wait the hour. I realize places get busy but how about an apology once in a while and acting like you care that you were an hour late in seating us. My 2nd and last visit was Easter dinner buffet. Upon entering I held the door for a staff member with a bus pan full of wine to restock the bar. The valet and staff just sat around outside not helping this guy get in. I had to hold the 2nd door for him as well. The host greeted us with a bit more of his chest showing then I wanted to see. My horror opened when I was filed past the buffet tables. Again when I returned and saw the meat under the heat lamps. I avoid carved under heat lamps. The caesar salad was drenched in dressing as well as the only other salad. The cheese was quite warm on the cheese plate. The pasta bar where you request the thawed out frozen peas to add to the plastic sauce of alfredo sauce not homemade and diced ham bits. I avoided that. The other pasta was in hotel pans was soft to mush consistency. The chicken thighs with pasta was still on the bone. I found 3 pieces of bone that were about the size of my finger nail which in nearly choked on. The head chef was in front of this station bragging to his buddy how much of a success the night was. Loud and should have done the conversation someplace else. Such as good restaurant. I have worked in restaurants and my girlfriend went to chef school. No love no care in the food. Just throw it out for those drinking the booze that was included in the price of the buffet. I don't drink and actually tasted the food. The dessert table I choose the fruit. Bad choice most of the fruit was over ripe. The watermelon should have be tossed it was soft. The tiny bits of sweets were not made in house and looked like they were frozen. I had a bad case of heart burn half way through meal. We all got coffee for end of the meal which we had to wait for to be made. It came quite strong. I make my own espresso in the morning and this brew resembled close to a double shot of espresso. I was shocked later when I was told the bill came to $240 for 4 people. Over $50 a head for this. We left and the next night I went out to eat and told the cook behind the counter where we ate and how bad it was. He told me his son was their a month ago for the buffet and almost walked out becase the food was horrible and service was not much better. If you are old, like bad booze ( I was told by way to many people it was bad), loud early 1950's rock and roll with songs sung by the Andrew sisters, horrible food passing for Italian then well you have a gem of a place. Keep in mind I will be at a real Italian restaurant where they make all their own pasta fresh every day along with all fresh ingredients for half the price. Food that melts in your mouth for it is made with love and passion. Notice how all the high review spot light the booze with pics of their glass and say how they drink there. This location does not seem to have a restaurant there very long before it closes. read more

Will never go here again. Christmas Eve family dinner reservation at 7:15pm and left unfed at 9:30pm. Our waiter was excellent and what food we got (salads, a pizza, and 1st course of 7 fishes) was good but the kitchen couldn't deliver our meals. We (family of 2 adults, 3 teen, and 2 grandparents) waited 2+ hours and never got our entrees. One grandparent going into diabetic shock so they had to leave. Told our meals weren't even started yet by the kitchen so we decided to leave. They wanted to charge us $120 for the food/drink we did get plus the pleasure of ruining our Christmas Eve dinner. I told them if I paid anything we would never come back. They delivered a $50 bill so we won't be back. Considering this was a ruined Christmas Eve family dinner, I would've expected a manager to deliver at least an apology and coupon to return for free dinner. On my way out I spoke to the manager who only mumbled he was sorry. On our way out, we ran into another family that was never fed either and wanted to make church. Sad. There are plenty of other Italian restaurants in the area and I will go to them instead. I later found out the valets were rude to my Inlaw as they were leaving. Awful experience. read more

Finally Newtown Square has a classy & fun place to eat. This place has it all! Atmosphere is fabulous, Food out of this world, Staff very accommodating and polite. Tecca offers a few different options for your dining experience. Formal or Private Rooms (perfect business lunches, baby showers etc.), Wine Cellar Dining (perfect place to celebrate your Anniversary or Engagement), more casual dining at the Brick Oven Pizza Bar or meet friends for drinks and apps at the Main Bar and of course their Spacious Main Dining Rooms. I have dined there several times since its opening. Of course, like every soft opening there were quirks to iron out. However, my dining experience in each of the rooms has been perfect! Took a party of 6 on New Years Eve, they all raved about the food & service. The owners have an impeccable reputation starting with Alberto's on City Line Ave years ago. So, I was thrilled to hear they are back in Newtown Sq. I would not believe most of the negatives, because for the most part, people usually don't take the time to post their positive experience, just the negative. I recommend you go and experience this place for yourself. BTW I'm married 42 years to an Italian who hates to eat out anywhere and he and his family love this place. Bon Appetit! read more

First, the food was delicious. However, we couldn't wait to get out because the noise level was unbearable. There has to be something that can be done about muffling the noise. We were celebrating our anniversary and we couldn't even have a conversation. Also, I found the waitress to be a little odd. When I asked if the steak came with potatoes, she said she didn't know and it was up to the chef. Price for fried olives on menu was $6--charged $7 for 5 olives--two of which had no breading--not falling off but missing. Margherita pizza had little basil and soggy crust. The " new to the neighborhood" restaurant is terrific. I've been there 4 times already and enjoyed the lively bar as well as dinner in the dining room. They hired experienced bartenders that are very attentive. The food at the bar was served in a Tim ely manner and was very fresh. Try the calamari and the pizza!! The service in the dining room was a bit slower but the food was very good. All of us enjoyed our entrees and would return again! We went to dinner after skipping lunch, found this place with an Internet search so gave it a try. We had an excellent Sunday night meal. Free valet parking, the valet was super. Once inside, we were seated by the window with a view of the parking lot. Ambiance was nothing special, but clean and updated modern decor, good for dates, also nice big round tables for big families. Impressive glassed in wine room and a nice bottle and by-the-glass selection The menu was very interesting and had a diverse set of different dishes that would satisfy any normal palate. There are even selections on the menu that would be OK for vegetarians, gluten sensitives, vegans...no problem there. Service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive, professional, and repeatedly and discreetly checked on us. I started with a great tasting chicken and escarole soup, and we shared a burrata-roasted pepper-prosciutto-arugula-red/golden beet salad drizzled with aged balsamic (excellent). We also ate two baskets of the warm crusty bread (what can we say...the tomato and garlic pesto dip is yummy). Main course was a glass of Super Tuscan and we shareda margarita pizza... This place uses very hot ovens because the crust was perfectly crunchy and tender at the same time while being blackened on the bottom. My only complaint was that the pizza --being a margharita with fresh mozzarella -- was still a little bit too moist for my taste but that was remedied by a sprinkle of the excellent Parmesan they provided the table. The margharita pizza could've also used maybe a little bit more basil. Other than that it was a really good pizza. Certainly one of the best pizzas we've ever had in this area of Pennsylvania! What they call a personal size pizza (12") is easily enough to feed two people if you had appetizers or salads before hand. We were too full for dessert but they certainly had interesting things on the menu including tiramisu, ricotta pie, Italian rum cake, sponge cake with berries, gelato, and lots of other goodies. We had a couple of macchiatos to finish off the night and they were delicious. Desserts next time! With the wide and excellent range of choices for entrées and desserts, appetizers, salads, wines, coffees, whiskeys, grappa, scotch, etc. etc. you can expect to spend at least $20 per person and the skies the limit. I was recently embarrassed by having suggested Teca for dinner with another.couple and the evening was ruined by a poor organization of tables in the dining room where a crowd of 8 very loud people at a large round table were right next to our table of 4. We hosted a funeral luncheon at Teca, and everything was outstanding, from the event planning, to the room, to the food and service. They made everything easy for us and pulled the day off wonderfully. If you are hosting a daytime event there, and need valet parking, be sure to communicate this with them in advance. read more

Sometimes I wonder if social media actually hurts us from making great restaurant choices! I am not a huge yelp reviewer but I am an avid Yelp reader. I have not visited countless restaurants because their reviews were just okay or ranged from great to awful. Well thank GOD my friend convinced me to give Teca a chance. All I wanted to do was eat outside (NOT on the side of a busy street) and Teca seemed like the obvious choice. They have this secret side stone patio with huge umbrellas:) The place was pretty busy, for a weeknight in the suburbs (which I saw as a good sign). I had a beer at the bar as I waited for my friend - I think happy hour had just ended so I think I took the last seat! The bar was huge though and there was a team of bartenders so my wait was not long. When she showed up we went out to the patio and immediately ordered cured olives, cherry peppers and charcuterie so we could really study the menu without being starving. The food came out beautifully displayed and I could see the people next to us getting green with envy. I quickly ordered a pasta course for us to share (spaghetti with angry crab gravy) almost solely for the name. I don't do dairy so my server took an opportunity to check with the chef and make sure that everything I ordered would be fine. If I could eat this every day for eternity - I would. Huge lumps of crab and a sauce with so many dimensions - I actually sent pictures to my sister to taunt her. Jess ordered the salmon (herb crusted with almost like an israeli cous cous). I got the branzino - filleted table side. It was actually the most delicious fish I have had in years - and I got no bones (I always get a bone!) She tried to save half of her salmon for lunch the next day but she said it was so good that she forgot. (She also "forgot" to let me try it). All in all - our trip to Teca was great - the food was unbelievable, the restaurant was beautiful, the service was on point and the secret garden was perfect. Every time I go to Teca I'm always disappointed. The bartenders are inattentive even thought the bar was not busy and there were two of them. The Margarita pizza was limp even though it's cooked in a brick oven, how is that. I have to say I order the tonnato salad it was actually good. And in a place like this how do you only have pinnicale orange vodka and not stoli, grey goose or even absolute. read more

We made the mistake of trusting this venue to host our wedding rehearsal dinner and have been forced to look elsewhere. On the surface, this place is a beautiful restaurant and offers many great rooms to host events. However, the management staff doesn't quite seem to have their sh%t together. When it came time to work on the menu for our dinner we had to hunt down our event coordinator only to find he left the restaurant a few weeks after we booked. We were then instructed to work with a woman by the name of Valerie who is just as elusive as the man who no longer works there. Her communication skills are poor and professionalism is non existent. After a few frustrating email exchanges I requested an in person meeting. Now, I'm in sales myself and 90% of my work is done remotely. Needless to say, I'm 100% comfortable in coordinating an event like this solely through email. So the fact I was requesting an in person meeting meant things were not good, and was hoping it would get better. Valerie so kindly agreed to meet with us during her working hours which were Monday - Friday, 10:30 - 6:30............the event coordinator for a restaurant only works Monday thru Friday. No other times. I had to request we meet outside her "working hours" and she "re-arranged" her schedule to meet with us. When we arrived the night of our meeting, we were told by the hostess Valerie had an emergency and could not meet with us that night. We did not receive a phone call, a voicemail, an email, NOTHING, letting us know she had an emergency come up and we needed to re-schedule. What's that called in the world of business...a professional courtesy?? Is that's what it's called??? Maybe someone out there could inform Valerie of that courtesy. Instead, I met with some other manager who might have started that week, I have no clue, but he knew nothing about the events department. Total waste of my time. We've also dined at the restaurant a few times to taste the food we would be serving at our rehearsal dinner, and it was fair to say the least. We sat at the bar each time we've dined there and the service was also fair. Some of the staff was attentive to your needs while others kind of putz around behind the bar. The one bartender even invited her grandson to come around the bar on a Friday night during happy hour to say hello :) Don't worry, my empty glass of wine can wait while you visit with your family. I'm not a paying customer or anything. If I could give zero stars to this place I would. The only thing I like about this restaurant is the building. Maybe some day they'll get a management staff that does it some justice. Until then, everyone save your money and go visit Fresco Pizza and Grill (the byo) down the street. I sat on the deck for happy hour where I had full view of the bartender consistently coughing without covering his mouth and never washing his hands. He coughed over the condiments and in glasses while he took out for drinks. YUCK! We went for Valentine's Day and what a huge disappointment!!! I should say what a rip off.. I ordered the risotto .. $35 should have been amazing.
