I took my 1 year old Laptop in for a regular tune up and interior cleaning, I was told that it was going to be ready within 2 days, 4 days later I received a call saying that my laptop was ready and running like new... when i got home the computer runned exactly the same as if it wasn't touched or cleaned, then I discover that there were a couple of missing screws from the bottom part and the worst part is that I cannot find important files that i had stored in my documents. I called to tell them about the problem and they insist that no documents where manipulated... I know what I had saved and I also know that those documents are gone. I needed my cousins laptop screen replaced for an old 2006 macbook. Unfortunately, studying late at night made me a bit clumsy and some how I cracked the screen. This place is professional , great customer service, but very very expensive quoted $300 to replace a screen on a 2006 Mac book. Hi Yelpers! I'm happy to report that a day after I posted my original one star yelp rating and complaint about Tech2U, one of the owner/partners,Todd, called me to try to remedy the situation. Although still not willing to refund my $75 AVG, Todd explained that the AVG Key is still in my name with them and it cannot be canceled by them with AVG per their business to business agreement. Todd offered me a compromise with his agreeing to a one-time free service, which is a $99 value based on what they normally charge. He said it could be used to service any electronics they handle or if I were to buy another tablet or laptop then they would install my remaining AVG subscription and provide a complimentary service to get it set-up and running properly. I've agreed to accept his offer that is contingent on my being able to use this offer within the year, and if I don't purchase any alternative electronic equipment, then we would revisit my getting a partial $50 refund. I can live with this arrangement and am happy that Tech2U and Todd valued me as a customer and their willingness to try to resolve this matter quickly, as well as keep me a happy customer. RE: Virus Protection I would recommend that you purchase AVG directly online instead of from ANY outside service provider, as I am sure this scenario would be the same and is not solely an issue with Tech2U. If you are sure you will own/run your equipment for the full year, then buying through Tech2U would be most convenient. RE: Tech2U Customer Service It isn't often in this day-and-age that companies will try to handle such matters as quickly and efficiently as Tech2U did, and for that I truly appreciate Todd and the Tech2U team's efforts. This is a great service! I needed help installing my printer and didn't know who to turn to because the current tech service I had I wasn't satisfied with. I called up tech 2 u expecting to set up an appointment on the weekend and surprisingly got an appointment that very day. They not only fixed my printer but installed my speakers, showed me how to use my scanner, cleared viruses and infections from my harddrive, and made my keyboard more accurate. The technician was very polite and honest about what he was doing. He was humble as well and didn't ask for a tip though I gave him one anyway. We had some viruses and a scamming problem at the company I manage and we desperately needed to get someone in to look at our computers. I have used tech2U in the past and had a good experience. Recently I have experienced far worse. I took my laptop in for a freezing issue. They told me 2 weeks to look at it. After more than 2 weeks the tech tells me it was a bios issue and he had repaired it. I picked it up to find the speed of my laptop was super slow. I checked the bios to find he had just taken it out of performance mode. For a gaming laptop, that was an unacceptable solution considering everything I ran would no longer load. I took it back with a complaint. It was at this point I could tell customer service went out of the window. The tech tried to make me troubleshoot the repairs instead of addressing the problem. Every deadline he gave me was exceeded and he was always "out on lunch" no matter what time I called during his work day. They ended up giving me a refund on a battery replacement (faulty part) but none of the other work described. The tech gave me a list of options. One return the laptop without helping me (his preferred option), ordering a cpu/motherboard combo costing over $1000 (more than the original new price). I got my laptop back and took it to another repair place. Apparently the windows registery was corrupted and the case was full of dust. Clearly the tech2U tech never bothered to clean the dust while he was replacing the battery. This seems like a very basic solution that I am disappointed he never considered. My laptop now works like new and it only cost me $140. I do not recommend going to tech2u. They are over priced,unwilling to listen to complaints, and do not know how to fix everything. read more

Tech 2U did a remote software install and as part of that service scanned my computer searching for other issues. The scan was at no charge.

I brought my macbook pro into their shop because I thought my hard drive was about to fail. Bijan was great and explained everything to me thoroughly. After a few hours, they were able to make a copy of my existing data, replace the hard drive, and tested to make sure my mac was in working order before giving it back to me. I don't want to give any stars, nothing was done that merits any stars. I went in Saturday with my husband and daughter. There were three customers there before me so I stood in the middle of the tiny lobby. There were two tech reps there and neither of them acknowledged us when we walked in. That's ok I thought, they are busy and I really need this computer fixed to continue my schooling. The rep in front of me finishes with a customer, sits down and starts typing a minute goes by ( still no hello) he gets on the phone calls customer. At this time a second customer is finished and walks passed me out the door. The rep gets off the phone still No acknowledgement. The other rep finishes with the third customer walks to the other side of the other rep gets on the computer and starts typing. I'm thinking to myself am I invisible are we invisible cause it is only my husband, daughter and I in this tiny lobby. From the time we walked in 7 to 9 minutes went by without any acknowledgement and I said out loud to my husband and daughter "Let's go." The dark haired rep came running out apologizing. I said "No your not. You know you guys were ignoring me. You have awful customer service skills and I will never come back. So in October I had reached out to see if they can update my Macbook Pro to the latest software and they estimated at $400 (rounded up). They weren't able to update it remotely so I was like ok whatever I don't have time to go back and forth with a tech company on fixing my laptop so I just asked for a refund. During the time that the technician was working on the laptop it was stuck on loading and the apple sign. The technician did something to it in order for it to be stuck. STUCK on loading forever not being able to do anything except seeing a loading apple sign. I can no longer even sign into my macbook or even try to factory reset it myself. I spoke to someone named Kevin I think saying that if they fix it to the way it was they will still have to charge me even though they're the reason why my laptop is no longer the same from the first time I brought it to them. Im not asking for them to even update it which was my original request. I'm asking for it to be returned to the way it was when I first reached out. My son's friend sat on my laptop Thursday night and the whole screen went black and I had an anxiety attack. I cannot go to work without my laptop and would've had to call in sick. Luckily, I was off Friday and Monday. But not too long ago I had a bad experience with a different computer repair shop where I had to wait 4 months just to get a new laptop screen. Anyways, just thinking about my last experience with the other company (iPCfix, downtown sac), I felt like I was going to throw up due to the very important data I had on my laptop and the waiting game with my last experience. I went on Yelp and found this place with exceptional reviews. I called that Thursday night, five minutes before closing, and the gentleman whom I spoke with calmed me down and assured me that they would be able to fix it and had rush service. I brought my computer in the next day and was greeted by Bill. He was able to fix it for me that day. He provided me with great customer service. So far this Tech2U computer repair place has has been a big ZERO! I took a netbook in for repair on Monday November 19th and they still have not finished! I understand that the Thanksgiving holiday may have slowed things down a bit, but eleven business days is ridiculous. They say they are waiting for the part, but the part is available on Amazon and with 2-day delivery, they should have had weeks ago! Not to mention that they are charging more than twice what Amazon would for the part. We have checked in with them regularly, so they have known about the problem with their vendor and as far as I can tell they have done nothing! I highly suggest you think twice before using this company's services. I had a horrible, two-week saga with this company, and at the end, when I took the computer to an independent computer guru, there was nothing wrong with it! After an initial awkward consultation (in my home), the technician decided to take my computer to the shop where he could better diagnose the problem. I should have ended the service right then. I let him take my CPU and three days later, Tech 2 U diagnosed my computer with a "bad motherboard," which would cost me $400 plus dollars to replace. When I decided not to have the work done, (I had an inkling they were wrong), I got a second opinion.. The new person simply used an air can and cleaned out all the dust inside the CPU and it has been working like a dream ever since!!! They would have charged me to replace a mother board that was just fine! I don't trust them and you shouldn't either. read more

I have had Tech 2 U service both of our laptops. The first time, I had spilled coffee on the keyboard and it needed replaced. I called and had them order the part and two weeks later I took it into the store and they fixed it while I got my nails done next door. Only hitch was that they ordered the wrong color of keyboard, but I wasn't too worried about that, I just wanted it to work! Once I got home I noticed that my internet signal was very weak and I could only get service if I was sitting in the same room as my router. After 3 months of dealing with the issue, I took it back into the store and asked them about it. The guy who worked on my laptop failed to plug in the wireless card (I think that is what they said). Any which way, they had messed up. So they were 0-2 at this point. A couple months later, our second laptop's motherboard went out. They came and picked it up and promised same day service, which we knew was not going to happen. This was in May, we didn't get our laptop back for 5 months. 5 MONTHS!!!! They had the motherboard fixed in about a month but whomever worked on it had messed up the media board while working on it. I guess they put us on the back burner. After months of calls back and forth and waiting, we finally got it back. They gave us a 15 dollar discount on labor. What a joke. They lost our business forever. read more

Would never recommend this place got my laptop screen fixed about two months ago I go to get on my laptop and the hinges break on it I take it back and they want to charge me more money when they could of told me the time I got my screen replaced I mean don't you have to take all the hinges off to replace the screen....any who long story short it would coast me another 200.00 to get this fixed due to them only having 30 day warranties and total in two months would be about 500.00 spent....should of just got a new one then messing with these people....yeah great customers service when you take your item in but bring it back different story. read more

Concerning Tech 2u. This company is totally unethical . My computer was working fine other than giving me a heat signal about every two weeks. I decided to take it in to have new fans installed after installing a new battery. The tech told me the heat tranfer grease under a heat sink had dried up. This made sense to me. I told him to install new fans and fix the grease problem I use this laptop in a permanent location under power all the time. I do not carry it around. When I got back to the office and installed it I found the keyboard backlights didn't light. I took it back right away and they said they would fix it. I picked it up again and plugged it in I found the backlights still didn't work. Fuming mad I roared back and demanded to know what they were supposed to be doing. A tech turned it on and it didn't turn on. Of course now it was on battery and at the office it was on power. So now they've got a double problem. As I knew the would need the battery charger to work on it I took it meaning to return it the following day with the battery charger. When I got back to the office I got a call from Danny, evidently the manager who heard about my anger. He told me the laptop was suffering from physical damage. WHAT? When I don't carry it around and it was working when I brought it in. He said I put it down on the counter to hard when I brought it in. HOGWASH! He said it needed a new motherboard because it wouldn't turn on and the wire connecting the keyboard lights had a broken wire. I was furious, but I told him to go ahead and fix it fast because I needed it. I figured I would take care ot the dispute later which I am doing now. He also mentioned something about a missing condenser. A missing condenser? That's my fault? I didn't have it apart. Whats he talking about. Then he mumbled something and went of on another subject. After about a week and a half I got a call saying they installed the mother board but the keyboard backlights still didn't light and the would have to install a new key board. All of this according to him because he said I put it down on the counter to hard. BULL! They did pay for the new keyboard but charged me $120.00 for the motherboard. All this took one month. NOW THE KICKER! I happened to be telling one of my employees about the experience and right away she exclaimed TECH2U!!! before I even told her what company I had taken it to. Turns out, they had pulled the exact same thing on her. I am going to show her this review and ask her to write her own review on yelp. So I take in a laptop that's working other than an intermittent heat load problem and one month later I get it back with and extra $120.00 charge and three extra traffic intense trips. I was really happy with Tech Service 2U. I had 4 old processors belonging to my children and me and going back several years. The technician transferred all the documents, photos and email archives onto my new computer, configured my new computer for wireless so I could remove the cord snaking across my hall, and set up my existing external hard drive as a backup system. He also removed two hard drives so I could keep them for awhile, and made sure no info could be taken off the other two. Thus, I could take all four to the e-waste site with no concerns about someone else accessing the old hard drives. The technician was knowledgable, friendly and professional. So I am sick with bronchitis and I can't speak very well. Went to Tech2U website and low and behold, they have online chat. Wonderful, I think. I get a rep named Jesse who I ask about tablet repair. I told him that I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Verizon model with a cracked screen. I ask approx how much do they charge and he tells me that they will not do quotes without inspecting first. This irritates me a bit as the location is roughly 11 miles one way from me and I am sick. But I need to get the repair done. So I get ready, mind you, I am sick ass a dog and cannot speak without coughing a lung up, and drive in the insane heat which takes me about 30 minutes to get there, with traffic and all. I come inside, someone welcomed me cheerily and I felt good about the place on first impression. A tech comes out after requested and immediately sees that I have a SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 10.1 ( which I clearly stated to Jesse via chat) and says that they cannot work on this or most Samsung models of Tablets because the screen has to be ordered directly from China.... WTF? If this tech knew this without consulting with his computer to check, then why the flub did the rep I chatted online with know this also???? Not only did I waste my time of over an hour of drive back and forth, but gas and frustration since I was sick as a dog to begin with. I get it that sometimes there are things that cannot be done, but if Tech 2U's techs know this, then someone should inform the chat dispatchers that this may be an issue. I was frustrated and did go off on the tech ( which i know was not the best thing to do since it wasn't his fault) but this is not a good way to do business. I stormed out of there and drove another 30 minutes in traffic and heat to get home.... trust me, i could not type what I was thinking without offending every reader on YELP. I finally got home and I found an online repair place ( www.missionrepair.com) that would also give a future warranty for any breakage afterwards with only a service fee to fix. I did an online chat with a tech who assured me that they had the screen IN STOCK, and that it did not have to be ordered from China. Since they do a ton of repairs, they maintain stock on hand ( i mean come on, Samsung isn't a minor player in this market) ... The turn around time was quoted at less than one week ( business days week that is) so I could have saved a whole lotta time and frustration by letting my keyboard do the walking. I believe that TECH 2 U probably does a good job for most things, but I have to slam them for the lack of communication between the dispatchers and the techs. They should have some sort of cross informational spreadsheets so that items that may have issues get flagged for the dispatchers to contact the techs directly to confirm before sending a potential customer on a wild goose chase. I highly doubt I will ever use them since first impressions weigh heavily and I was not impressed in the slightest. If you choose to do any business with them, forget the chat or dispatchers. Call them directly and talk with a tech before you waste your time and energy to get there and find out that they cannot help you. read more

I took my computer there because my hard drive crashed -- I bought one of their new computers and was told they would have all my old files installed on the new compute, as they were salvageable, by the end of the day.
