The song was inspired by Hanalei. This P.O. Is tiny, as most of the ones I have visited on this island but it serves its purpose well. Staff are friendly & conversational, fairly efficient. The P.O. boxes are showing some wear & tear--what do you expect for this type of humid & salty environment? Parking is about 6 spots including disabled access. I wanted to buy different postcard stamps but the only available ones are the sailboats, they're out of the tropical fish- that would've been perfectly ideal. DaRn. Let's hope the postcards are delivered before to the addressees before we return the mainland. (Ha! Wishful thinking)

There is a single lady there who runs the place as if there are 10 people there. She is always friendly, goes out of her way to help customers, keeps the busy line moving and is incredibly efficient. She has been helpful in so many ways that I had to giver her a shout out. The Mail Center is a different establishment.

The clerk, who was very friendly and knowledgeable, suggested that it would be much cheaper to send the gifts in the PRIORITY MAIL boxes and would arrive in 5 days verses 3 weeks ! I got away with sending 3 smaller boxes cheaper than the two bigger non-priority brown boxes and 2 weeks soon. These guys are awesome at this branch!

It is a hassle to get my mail because it is a 15 minute drive each way. Yes. Post offices always have very limited open hours for counter service. No. Nothing is automated at this post office - no stamp machine. Yes. There is always a line. But the last couple years we have seen new employees at this location that make the difference. Real true customer service with genuine smiles...and they take the time to know your name. Thank you Patrick and Alicia (spelling?).

After a few of our packages were returned/not delivered we signed up for general delivery and we ordered everything again. When I came to pick it up, they said none of that is there, they couldn't find my sign up for general delivery, even though the gentleman who did it for me was there. Conveniently, he ran to the back and never showed up again. Some items were already marked returned. When I called UPS for tracking of one of them they said it was delivered to the post office yesterday at 12:12 PM and signed by employee. Yet the post office denies having it. They seem to be very bothered when asked to check for packages at any time I've been there. I understand we are not "locals" and we are treated differently, but this is little bit too much.

And said file a complaint with the person in charge of the Kilauea post office turned his back, got back in his truck and drove off. We do not have our mailboxes and never have. He has not been on duty that long and the way I see it, He probably won't be there that much longer. Not with an attitude like he has.

She is enthusiastic,…read moreknowledgeable, and, as my wife and the other women in the group noted, glamorous for someone toiling in the fields. Basically the activity turns on her story telling. Her accounts of flash flooding are vivid. She sure is accomplished. Her anecdotes are authentic, sincere, and funny. There isn't all that much walking, and they bring chairs out for people who need to sit. One fellow fell over in the mud (the leg of the stool sank and he toppled over; he was unhurt). There are three parts. First, there is the taro farm. Second, there is the rice mill. Third, there is lunch. The taro farm is a real, multi-generation family enterprise. I don't understand how they make money. It looks as if it is all done by hand. And taro is not a luxury item. You help them gather the eggs of invasive snails. Presumably they have some other task if needed and that doesn't work. The rice mill is fascinating. It's too bad it doesn't work anymore. You look at everything that has ben restored. You also drink fresh coconut milk, extracted right from the gourd in front of you, and you eat tarot snacks they make as you watch. The lunch is excellent. We enjoyed, among us, all of the menu choices. The quantities also are vast. The food truck would be worth visiting on its own, without any of the rest of the activities.

The tour is conducted by Lyndsey, a fifth generation farmer, who had grown up out in the taro fields. She makes the tour worth while. Yes, everything you will learn and see is educational and quite fun. And, the food and smoothies are fantastic enough that you will probably want to stop there stand for more the next time you are in Hanalei, but Lyndsey just puts it over the top. You could tell how much she loves her family, their farm, and educating others about their tradition and what they do. First, after meeting at Hanalei Taro & Juice and sampling an ono smoothie made with taro, we headed down the road a bit to go see one of their many, many taro fields. The view was nothing short of breathtaking. There we learned about taro and how its grown and some of the history of farm. She also educated us on the endangered birds the lived in and around farm, which is located on a wildlife refuge. There we did the first hands on activity. If you wanted you could help pick up and collect apple snails and their eggs. It may sound a tad gross but it wasn't at all. I don't really even know how to describe the tool you use to remove them, besides saying that it looked like a metal kitchen strainer attached to a long pole. After the fields we stopped at the rice mill. The mill is no longer in use but the history behind it is incredible. After touring the inside of the mill and looking at old family photos and artifacts we finally got to try the taro. We drank coconut water from a coconut cute open in front of us. We also got to taste taro which was cooked, mashed, and mixed with shredded coconut straight from coconut we just drank from. It was delicious. I've had poi at luaus but this was nothing like that. It was the consistency of mashed potatoes (and those not poi but and other dish) so good. My dad had five servings he loved it so much. At the end of the tour you are taken back to the family's taro and juice cart for lunch. The kalua pig was out of this world. I have tried the kalua pig at at least 20 places on Kaua'i, but their pig, along with the Koloa Fish Market's are my all time favorites. Their taro mochi is a much try! I can't even begin to describe how much I am obsessed with their mochi.

Mike, from Blue Water Carpet Cleaning, returned my initial phone call promptly, and texted me back…read moreimmediately when I asked him some questions about stain removal after spilling wine on my carpet. Mike told me what to get to remove the major part of the stain then came over and took a look. He not only gave me a very good price for removing the stain, but since he'd have all his equipment already in the house, also gave us a bid to clean all our carpets upstairs and downstairs. The bid was very fair, and we agreed. Mike showed up right on time, and did a fantastic job. He just didn't rush through it, but made sure he got every nook and cranny. He even suggested a way to brighten the carpet in some heavily trafficked areas. I even asked Mike to do a few extra things, and he had no problem with that. His attitude was professional, very courteous, and upbeat--it was a real pleasure to have him and his company do the job. Highly recommended. They also do window cleaning, and roof mold removal.
