Scheduling the appointment is a breeze - used the online appointment scheduler, was confirmed in minutes. Drop-off is easy as well, you can use a key drop and leave the car after-hours. As a first time customer, it eased my mind when I saw that the shop is filled with all kinds of imports - Mercedes, BMW, Lexus .. and Mini. So these guys are specialists. I got a call before 10AM with an estimate (shop opens at 8). I'd had repairs estimated at the Mini dealer beforehand, so had an idea of the work that needed to be done. Reliable diagnosed the issues spot-on, and did the work for less than half what the dealer quoted. I had warning lights on the dash - check engine and brake. The check engine light turned out to be a loose wire on the oxygen sensor. The brake light turned out to be a faulty brake pad sensor. I could easily have been told that I needed a new oxygen sensor - or new brakes. And I would have taken that at face value. I'm always leery when working with a mechanic; since I'm not mechanically inclined I have to take their word on whatever repairs they recommend. And I've been burned in the past by paying for repairs that in retrospect weren't really needed. My experience here demonstrates that Reliable is a trustworthy business. Reliable Import Service is a reputable & honest repair shop and I recommend them.

Short version: Charged way too much [see photos] to fix problems the car DIDN'T HAVE, not seeing…read morewhat did need to be fixed, horrible communication (at least 5 days of feeding me nonsense) drained my battery dead and ran the engine/drove the car long enough to put at least 2 quarts of oil inside the exhaust, DROVE THE CAR WITH ZERO OIL ACTUALLY IN THE ENGINE and apparently SABOTAGED (they had no reason to pull that hose off) [see photos] the car when I told them I was taking it to a different mechanic!!!! Long version: On 1-19-22 my 2017 VW Golf was towed in for repair (I was pretty sure the turbo was blown and told them) I asked them to take a look and give me a estimate when they found out and they called me on the 20th telling me the head needed to be rebuilt and would cost over 5K, I asked if the turbo looked ok and they acted like they didn't want to even check until I committed to the other stuff and I asked them to email me the estimate and tell me if the turbo would need to be replaced and if so how much that would run before they started working on it (they never did) so I called them back on the 21st and asked what they found and once again if they would give me some kind of written estimate, they didn't check so I asked them to confirm no major repairs (like replacing the turbo) would be necessary once again on the 24th and they said they would call me on Tuesday the 25th and let me know (I told them I didn't want to do a $5,500 repair just to turn around and have to pay another 5K to fix something they missed (THE F'ING TURBO). Sooo on the 26th after never hearing from them I called and asked what was up, they said they didn't want to get too deep into checking if I wasn't going to have the repairs done.. but I guess they didn't want to actually tell me that so they held my car for 7 days and apparently did nothing so I went there and told them I wanted to take my car out the kid at the desk said he had to talk to his manager, after a few minutes he came back and told me it would take about a hour to get it back together, I said if you never did any work to the car why would it take a hour, "I need my car now, the tow truck is on its way" so they jumpstarted my car and DROVE it out of the shop (if the head was damaged so bad why did they drive it) I asked why the battery was dead the kid said his manager accidently left the car on.. On top of all that they charged me $125.65 just to play games with me, kill my battery and run all the oil out of the blown turbo and run the engine for god knows how long with absolutely no oil in it (something even I know better than to do). BTW I got my car fixed for a fraction of the price this shop was going to charge me (the turbo was broken). UPDATE: even though they didn't want to do any actual work on the car to diagnose what was wrong with it until I agreed to pay FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX SOMETHING THAT WASNT BROKEN they did have time to disconnect the hose in the picture costing the future mechanic time and stress, after doing the repairs he had to inspect the car to check for other signs of sabotage. I should have been a Karen and called the cops but I didn't know how crooked they where until after

Well, that is ironic considering all the other times I am there with the same situations, they take the truck back and I'm home NLT 1 pm. I usually go local for the oil change and then support a local business or two, but this is the second time in 6 months the young gentleman told me he couldn't get to me. This time had a helper "girlfriend" behind the desk hanging out which I've never seen before either. This is just not like Fuquay tire and their normal level of service. I went somewhere else because it needed to be done but it has me questioning if every time I recommend this store if I'm now making a mistake.

They don't make a repair which is unnecessary. They don't try to scare you into agreeing to have expensive, unneeded repairs figuring that the anxiety of not having them done would encourage you to OK them. They don't continually try to up sell you on unneeded services as many dealership service departments do. They even verified that new tires that our tire dealer said that we needed were not needed now because the current tires were fine wrt tread wear and other features. More anxiety relief. They also do top-quality repairs. We have taken our two vehicles there for the past three years, one of which is almost 30 years old. Some repairs appeared to us that they may be undoable but they have solved every problem. They only use manufacturer replacement parts which may cost a little more or delay a repair but are likely to last much longer than using cheap generic parts but then charging the manufacture prices. Their labor charges are entirely reasonable. The manager, Will, is incredibly knowledgeable and capable of running a three-ring circus if needed. Because of their outstanding service, it is typical to have to wait a couple of weeks for an appointment.

A couple red flags I should have noticed from the start was how they refused to quote me for the job. I got several quotes around RTP to bench mark the replacement of the transfer case chain and this was the only shop that wouldn't provide me a quote unless I dropped off my SUV and it would be a 160 diagnostic fee. I physically went into the shop to speak with David the service advisor and he mentioned how they were experts in MB, we discussed the common issue with the stretching of the borgwarner transfer case chain and it gave me confidence that these guys knew what they were doing. He also told me that they would not be the cheapest shop, but they will price accordingly. Prior to coming into the shop I asked David to provide me with a clear answer on the break down of parts and labor associated with the repair. They were not able to do that and kept beating around the bush giving very arbitrary numbers. The parts itself is 100 bucks and a liquid gasket is 10 bucks, so labor ended up being 1700! David was not able to give me the break down and at one point to me the gasket was priced at 50-100 dollar range. In the end it wasn't worth my time to argue with these guys as they continue to give me the sales pitch of "we sell a solution and do not provide a break down of labor cost" I can clearly see why they use that line because based on my calculations their labor rates are 300-400 per hour. When I picked up my SUV I got the invoice and asked for a break down of the repairs. Adam came out and discussed with me how they don't break down the cost and how they provide a solution. He asked if they came in at a lower price would I be so concerned about the transparency and pricing break down. I, of course, would not be as concerned about the breakdown because the math would have worked out. Even if you were priced at a 30% premium to other independent shops that would be reasonable, but in the end their pricing was as much as MB dealership prices which break down their parts and labor cost. Even McLaren breaks down their parts and labor cost, so I am not sure why it was such a big deal. In the end the pricing was reduced from 1793 plus tax for the repair to 1700. Lesson learned for me to not blindly trust any shop if they are not willing to quote for a specific repair.
