I have gone here on and off. I always forget how bad I was treated and how over priced it was until I walk back in and get the same bad over priced treatment! I am not going to be going back ever again! I had my nails done and was treated to manicurist and pedicurist that behaved as she were a spoiled North shore brat and that I should feel lucky to be having her working on my nails and she was wearing too much jewelry to do a proper job. She spoke in a foreign language to co workers (they all did I noticed) the entire time I was there. I find that very rude! People think if you need to speak in a language others do not understand they are being talked about just so you know! What is wrong with speaking English and maybe speak to your customer instead of your co worker the entire time? Then I was told oh I can make your feet very soft by using this product and she just used it. Never asked me! It wasn't until I got to the register that I find out it cost me an extra $20.00 for that. Try giving us extra costs up front! People feel really taken advantage of with that kind of business practice! Then the lovely ladies at the front desk who are usually on the phone (business and personal calls) to busy to check you out. After waiting for a while to pay I was never asked: how was your treatment today or was everything okay? I got "ticket" She demanded the ticket they use to show the costs added by the staff. No thank you or come back again but instead I was asked "Would you like to add a tip" Overall this place has a lot of people who feel they are better then you working there that are really rude and is way over priced! They must work on commission when selling you their products to because I heard others being asked who recommended this product to you today. Translation (who suckered you into buying this) But never was everything ok! I can spend a LOT less money for better treatment and results. If your going to be so over priced then a least treat people well and make them feel pampered. Oh maybe the pampering was when I was asked if I would like something to drink only when the person I had an appointment with was running late and was given a Styrofoam cup of water, Do you think with the high prices you charge people you could spring for an actual bottle of water or soda!!. read more

As a client and close friend of an ex Stylist all I can say about Teddie's is don't waste the time or money! The salon, owner and management deserve 0 stars but the stylists and colorists deserve 5! When I walked into the salon the first time i was surprised my the amount of mirrors and clutter just im the walk in. Upon arriving at the desk I was not even greeted while the front desk staff, a girl with purple hair gossiped with another blonde girl who worked the front desk, completely ignoring me. Mind you it was 11 am on a Tuesday so it's not like they were busy. It wasnt until i texted my friend i was there and she came over to get me did the front desk notice me. My friend then brought me back to the wildly outdated shampoo room, where a older black gentlemem continued to say comments about my face and body while shampooing me, HOW CREEPY! Any way my friend gave me an amazing cut and when i asked her about color she off the bat recommended Colleen who gave me a great mix of red blonde and brown highlights/lowlights. I would love to keep seeing colleen but my friend is back doing color so i will not be returning to teddies ever. And from what my friend has told me this is a HORRIBLE company to work for, the manager Alan has a napolean complex and is going to end up running his fathers business into the ground. He treats the Stylists like crap, especially the younger ones. I have personally heard him yell at a stylist in front of the front desk on a busy saturday morning about being "14 minutes early when you know youre supposed to be 15 minutes early" the woman looked like she was going to cry. Anyway, the managent is horrible, the front desk needs a serious attitude check (They are especially rude to The Trimmers, I've seen it first hand) and the salon needs an update to draw in younger clientele! Myself, my mom and my sister have been clients at teddies for 10+ years. The reason for that is because of Lindsey Hoffman, the best colorist ever. I like to call her the blonde master. Before Lindsey we went to Scrupples and ONstage salon, all the in the area. I was probably 15 when I first came and saw Lindsey for a hair appointment at Teddies. My hair was fried and damaged and bleached out before seeing Lindsey, I looked like a different person walking out of the salon after seeing Lindsey. I am now 28 and she is the only person who I will allow to color my hair. My mom and sister soon followed me and began seeing Lindsey after they saw my hair and loved it so much. She always does her best to squeeze us in even if she is super booked and busy (because she usually is). She has become a therapist and hair colorist to me and my family. She is super friendly and always positive whenever I see her and is more talented than she even realizes or will admit. If it were not for Lindsey, I would not be this long time of a client at teddies nor would my sister or mom be. She is delightful, always there to help and make sure my color is exactly what I wanted it to be. I tell her my vision and she makes it a reality. I am so grateful for her hard work over the years and her loyalty to her clients. I always look forward to seeing Lindsey when I come to the salon. Even if I am there for a haircut or something else I make sure to go down and visit her because i love her that much. I recently got married, and everyone complimented my hair color and I told them go see Lindsey at Teddie Kossof! Thank you Lindsey for being the best colorist and for making me beautiful! I have been a customer for four years, and have never been disappointed with their services. I patronize Teddie's only for coloring and hair cuts, and every person I've encountered has been fantastic. I was first drawn here through an advertisement about styling hair for weddings as I was getting married, and the stylist made my hair look like it belonged on a princess. All day I fielded comments about my beautiful updo. I was pleasantly surprised at the pricing as my salon, which I had abandoned because I was increasingly dissatisfied with the coloring and haircuts, also charged similar rates. My colorist, Lindsey, has never made a wrong move with my hair. She puts in beautiful highlights and makes my hair look natural. She's also pleasant to chat with, and the time passes quickly. I have had several stylists for my hair, only because my schedule did not mesh with my main stylist's schedule. Never have I had a bad haircut, and I am not an easy customer because I typically say, "Do what you think will look good." Voila! It always does. The stylists know exactly what to do with my hair. I've seen some comments about the front desk, and I'm surprised as I've never had any problems with the women who work the desk. They may get busy and feel rushed at times, but I don't interpret their attitude as rude, only harried after a hard day. My only complaint is the stylists can get backed up and I've had to wait up to 20 minutes to see my stylist, but I always remember, the back up is because some customer or two, or three, have sauntered in late. I couldn't be happier with the location, the hours and the professional staff at this location. My former stylist abruptly vanished and I was passing by Teddie Kossof's Northfield location and decided to stop in to see if they served men. They couldn't have been more gracious as they referred me to "Cheryl," a consumate professional, whose clientele amounts to 95% men. I was thankfully receptive to her suggestion, as she transformed me, which I was never expecting. She showed me a picture in a book as to her objective and I cautiously gave her the green light. Great move on my part. What a pro this woman is. Very personable, intelligent and above all, does what she does very well, with conviction. Their prices are quite reasonable compared to what I paid downtown in Chicago, for a lesser haircut. Gentlemen, if you want to look and feel great and are receptive and open to an "upgrade" by a professional (I have been known to be set in my ways), give Teddie Kossof's a call at 847-999-9500 and ask for an appointment with Cheryl. You'll be glad you did. I just wanted her to "clean me up a bit" but she transformed me in the process. She's not pushy in the least but her confidence in improving my appearance was overwhelming. Try Cheryl gentlemen. No relation what so ever. Zero...She has cut me twice with 5 star results each time and nothing but positive remarks from those who know me, on top of my own satisfaction. I wanted to commend Teddie Kossof for the excellent customer service we received on my wedding day April 25, 2015 for myself and my bridesmaids. We came to Teddie Kossof with a large bridal group of ladies needing hair and makeup done all at the same time, finished prior to 11AM on a Saturday. Angie, the event coordinator, expertly managed our appointments for all salon services in a short amount of time. She also chose the perfect stylist Donna for myself as the bride because she specialized in the style of hair I wanted. Donna is incredibly talented because I didn't have an image or picture of what I wanted for my hair and she created a work of art with my hair. It was exactly what I wanted, although I didn't even explain it well, she knew precisely what to do! Everyone's hair and makeup was absolutely gorgeous for my bridesmaids and I and if it weren't for Angie listening to my needs as a customer, things wouldn't have been so great. She was prompt, professional, and truly a joy to work with. During a time that could be very stressful for a bride, I had the smoothest wedding salon experience due to her expert planning, excellent customer service, and follow up. My entire team of bridesmaids were very impressed with the salon we chose to due the customer service from Angie and stylist talent. Bravo Teddie Kossof Salon for having an expert team of stylists and coordinators that made my wedding day absolutely perfect. I've been coming to Teddies for a few years now, Get my color done by Tom and get cut or styled by Miranda. I recently went dark brown from light blonde and I was very nervous about it but Tom talked with me for about 10 minutes and brought me some swatches to look at and compare them with my skin tone, he picked out a great chestnut color that I LOVE. I was so nervous about seeing the color once it was dry but the moment Miranda saw me she shouted "YOU WENT DARK, I LOVE IT" which made me feel great. I've been seeing Miranda almost since she started with Teddies after being introduced by Tom. She's a breath of fresh air in that salon where most of the stylists are middle aged or older men and women. EVERY time I see her she consults with me, not just aking if we're going to do the same thing as last time. It is awesome to have a hairstylist who remembers me everytime and remembers little things about my life and always asks about them. She is so personable and she gives an amazing style and cut and i love that she always "details" my hair after its dry to give it a little something extra. If you're looking for a great stylist try her out! She's still building clientele so I just felt like I should let other yelp users know that Teddies is NOT NEARLY AS BAD as some of the other posts on here make it seem. From the moment I walk through their doors, I can feel the air of professionalism in this busy salon and spa. The girls at the front desk are amazing from taking your appointment to at the end when they take care of the receipts. I typically get a manicure and pedicure with acrylic from Caroline Randolph. Caroline is the absolute BEST person in her profession that I have ever (and I men ever-because I have had manicures all over the US and even outside of the US), and Caroline far surpasses anyone I have encountered. She is so proficient in her skills, which I admire greatly. She is an extremely fascinating woman with marvelous ideas on things. She is fascinating, humorous and has a very warm personality. She never intrudes, only is quite adept at carrying a conversation. And what can I say about her skills in particular is that they are awesome! In fact, she was the one who suggested I put the acrylic on my toes also so I didn't have to wait in the Fall and Winter for my toes to dry. And I have been doing it eve since -- because it was such a unique and astonishing idea! Leave it to Caroline to think of a great idea! She just has that knack with things. I have been a Teddie's customer for over 10 years. Grace is THE BEST at haircuts. She is incredibly talented, always punctual with appointments and knows her business. I am always done with a fantastic haircut in 30 minutes, including the initial consultation with every cut. My hair always grows in well after the cut which means I don't have to go as often. This also helps with the price. For waxings Marie is outstanding. If she is not available another suggestion is Angelina. I have never had better eyebrow waxings. I have tried many people for manicures and pedicures there based on who is available when I need to go. Some are better than others, but my pedicures always look good and last. Some of the nail techs have some attitude and if that were addressed they would get more business. The studio is a little dated and if you are looking for the "spa getaway" this is not your place. I prefer finding quality people that excel at their job. I strongly urge you to consider a cut with Grace. She books well in advance so call ahead. Also an appointment with Marie or Angelina for eyebrow waxings can't be beat. All three ladies are worth the price. read more

As any husband may feel, I was a bit apprehensive as to the referral by my wife to visit "her" salon. I took the initial step and placed an appointment over the phone. I was assisted by Jessica with setting appointments for a variety of services. Her knowledge and professionalism was well received. Upon my arrival, I was welcomed by everyone at the front desk and immediately assisted with my check in. I was welcomed by Cheryl my new stylist and extremely pleased with my new cut. After the hair cut, I was given a brief tour by the salon manager Angie as she directed me to the spa department for my next appointment. I was impressed with the spa's ambiance and professional staff within that department with a special thank you to Angelina for a gentle trimming of those "man brows". During my tour I was shown the newly renovated Color Department and explained that a continued revitalization of much of the salon was continuing without interruption to clientele or day to day business. As a business owner myself, I could appreciate the professionalism of the staff and hospitality the Kossof family provided. I highly recommend Teddie Kossof Salon and Spa. read more

Let me just start with how incredible Mikala Maguire is! I walked in there with a crazy mess of all sorts of different tones of blonde and brown in my hair. Everyone looked at it and said " Oh yeah this is going to be a challenge." Me being as ambitious as I am, I told her I wanted to get the "granny grey" look. She was honest and forthcoming to me and said this will be a slow process to get my hair where it should be without frying my hair off. I know the damage that could be done when using lighteners so I was totally for it. I'm pretty sure I was her biggest challenge to take on and she took it head on without any hesitation. She took the time to research into different mixtures and products that work best for my hair. It's unbelievable what potential this young lady has. She's never done anyone's hair like mine and I'm so honored to be her first to transition to granny grey! I highly, highly recommend Mikala. Not only does she look out for your best interest she goes above and beyond to make sure you're comfortable with the process. I'm sticking with her for life! read more

I couldn't get in to my regular salon in Chicago last Saturday for a last minute haircut so per a suggestion from my husband I made an appointment at Teddie Kosof way out in Northfield. I'm so glad I did, I will never go back to my old salon after the perfect cut and service I was given here. I was assigned Bianca and she was so so so great. I'm pregnant so my hair is thicker than ever before and due to overprocessing it's very dry and EXTREMELY tangly. Bianca literally had to cut off knots as she combed out my hair. She took extra time to cut each layer perfectly and eliminate all split ends. She also made sure she didn't cut too much off the length and the style she gave me is fantastic---probably the best I've ever had. I was so surprised at Bianca's service, especially because she did not know me or know if I would return. As a result, I will drive to this salon from Chicago just for a haircut from Bianca in the future. She deserves a huge raise! read more

This place is a complete and total rip-off!!! $60 for a TRIM?!! $140 for highlights that require TWO return visits because they were horrible?!! Not to mention a $350 Keratin treatment which was done improperly! When I had a complaint and wrote on the companies Facebook page it was quickly deleted and Alan, the owners son, messaged me asking me to "leave him alone" if I didn't have anything nice to say about the business. He then proceeded to call me a "mouth piece" what kind of "owner" speaks to customers that way?! I see his response to several reviews about how people should let management know, well even when you do alert them, nothing gets done. If anything, he insults you just as he has insulted many people in his response to reviews on here. Perhaps, if management concentrated more on their services and customer service rather than defensively responding to reviews, they would have some better reviews. read more

Teddie's is the best. I've been going at least 5 years and every year gets better. For hair coloring you must go to Inga. I've been driving her crazy because I keep wanting my hair to get blonder and she's been fabulous and my hair looks great (and doesn't fall out!). For a terrific cut you have to go to Jason. He's such a good stylist, but when I decided to grow my hair long he was so good about being infintesimal about my trims. Don't tell him, but I'm going to throw a surprise party from him on his birthday (9/9). As we talk about growing things, I had the thinnest, crummiest nails until I started seeing Marisha. Now I have long beautiful nails. She's so good and she'l also the best therapist. And no one is better than Marie when it comes to waxing. I had a hair cut by Mindy today . I am very happy with the result. She listened to me and understood what I like and want and she made her suggestions. I shared with her my past experience with layering my hair which did not quite work for me as my hair is too fine. She respected my feedback and went around it to give me the look I want. This is a really nice experience for me as not only she gave me the look I wanted she did it based on my desire and was sensitive to my concerns. I would express my appointment as being a very pleasant experience. I saw her because she had done a fantastic hair cut for my husband. He has a difficult hair in the hands of regular skill hair dresser. Mindy is been consistent cutting his hair with the great finish touch. It is so great that salon is open on Sundays. I couldn't be happier with the services at this salon. I set up an appointment for my 91 year old mother whose visiting for the summer and was a bit concerned about her navigating the salon since she hadn't been there in years. Everything went off without a hitch. She was greeted at the desk and was taken downstairs for her color, introduced to the colorist and then, when done, was escorted upstairs to her hairdresser, Peter. The receptionist called me when it was time to pick her up and my mother couldn't have been more pleased with her hair and the overall experience. Peter did a great job; just like my mother had asked. He was very gentle and patient with her. I go to Teddie's myself, and have for years, so it didn't surprise me that they were so courteous. I've been a client for over 15 years. The service is excellent, everyone is nice and helpful. Tom, colors my hair, and he is wonderful ! On my first visit, we discussed what I wanted, and he colored my hair better than I had expected. My hair looks healthier and shinier than ever before. I would recommend him to everyone ! Cassie cuts my hair and she is the best ! She is so talented. My hair has never looked better. Her cuts last a long time, because the layers grow out beautifully. When I ask about products, she explains them to me, and tells me what she thinks would be best for my type of hair, and she is always right ! I have been going to Teddie's for several years. Sari cuts my hair. Linda colors it. Carol Marie does a great job giving me a tan in the winter (no orange, no streaks) Irene does my nails. My daughter also goes to Teddie's and has been for years. I have NEVER had to wait for anyone there unless someone before me was late and put my operator behind schedule for the rest of the day adding stress to her work day.. I love the people there. The employees all seem to get along well and laugh together which makes me want to laugh. I have never had anything but top notch service and honest,friendly advice. I have been a client of Teddie Kossof Salon and Spa for 8+ years now and have always had great service and great results. I go to Maria for color - she is excellent and I am always thrilled with the result and her advice has always steered me well. Jason cuts not only my hair but also my husband and three grown children - 1 girl and 2 boys - we all love the way he cuts our hair and again gives great advice. My daughter and I go to Jackie for facials and waxing and love her and the work she does! I go to Monica for mani-pedis and she is also excellent and really takes care of me well.
