Teddy Wong's has only been open in Weatherford for about a month, so some early growing pains are to be expected. That said, this is not a brand-new concept. Its flagship restaurant in Fort Worth has already had the opportunity to establish standards and refine recipes. Opening a second location should not come at the expense of quality control. Customers should reasonably expect the same level of execution regardless of which location they visit. I started with the pork soup dumplings, priced at $16 for four pieces. For me, the benchmark remains Joe's Shanghai in New York. A proper soup dumpling should be large enough to rest comfortably in a Chinese soup spoon, requiring you to bite a small opening in the wrapper to release the rich broth before enjoying the rest in a single bite. Teddy Wong's version was closer to the size of a mini muffin. While the flavor profile was pleasant and the filling was well seasoned, they lacked the dramatic burst of broth and overall character that defines an exceptional soup dumpling. At four dollars per dumpling, and with "Dumplings" featured prominently on the sign, I expected something considerably more substantial. It is possible that Teddy Wong's philosophy is simply to serve smaller portions at a higher price point, but if that is the standard, it may leave diners expecting a bit more value. The Har Gow was another surprise. Rather than the traditional translucent steamed shrimp dumpling, this version was fried. It was enjoyable on its own terms, but anyone expecting the classic Cantonese preparation should know this is a different interpretation. The General Tso's chicken landed squarely in the middle of the road. I appreciated the balance of both white and dark meat, which gave the dish better texture than many versions. Unfortunately, the chicken was heavily breaded and bathing in sauce. The signature heat that made General Tso's famous was largely absent. I would have preferred a much lighter dredge, a quick flash fry in hot peanut oil, a restrained amount of sauce, and the addition of dried chili pods or at least a drizzle of chili oil to restore some depth and spice. The highlight of the meal was the service at the bar. The bartender was attentive, personable, and efficient. I never did determine whether bar seating operates on a first come, first served basis or by reservation, something that could be communicated a little more clearly. Looking around the dining room, I noticed several neighboring tables leaving noticeable amounts of food behind. It did not appear to be a portion size issue. Whether that reflects individual tastes or broader consistency concerns is difficult to know, but it was an observation worth noting. The reality is that Teddy Wong's currently has very little direct competition in Weatherford, which gives it an advantage. However, that advantage will only last as long as the quality justifies it. The foundation is there, and the Fort Worth location has already demonstrated that the brand can succeed. The challenge now is ensuring that the Weatherford restaurant consistently delivers to that same standard. At the moment, there is definite potential, but there is also plenty of room for improvement. read more

Made a reservation, highly recommended BTW, for our anniversary dinner. Arrived a bit early and were going to just grab a drink at the bar, however, the seated early and that was nice. The place was full on a Tuesday event which is why I recommend reservations. Our server was excellent and took care of everything we needed. From cocktails to appetizers to mains he answered our questions and made suggestions along the way. First class. Thanks Charlemagne! The food was excellent. We had lamb dumplings, egg rolls, lo mein, General Tso's' chicken. All were delish and good sized portions. I liked the feel. It's brighter than the Fort Worth location and I like that. We could only get a reservation for 2:45 pm on a Saturday because they are so popular. We were immediately sat and unfortunately our waitress was Addison. She spent more time explaining what they dont have (sweetener and soup dumplings) then providing us with a hood dining experience. We were brought simple syrup which was not a good option for the diabetic at our table. We ordered tea, glass of Sauvignon in a very cool wine glass. Food is freshly prepared and came out a couple at a time. The variety dumplings were great. I loved the veggie option. The real star was the chicken fried rice which was fabulous. Understanding they "Teddy Wong's" are newly established in the area; I'm still going to give a honest review. Made a reservation for Father's Day, finally the place was without a line to get in. Promptly seated, wine and food menus accompanied. First impressions of ambiance/decor was flowing, they definitely didn't weed out ball caps and T-shirt crowd. So I'd venture to say it's a fitting establishment for the market. So on to service: After ordering we had to follow up with each item that were ordered including the wine, noodle, rice that never made an appearance. Food: Scallion noodles were a definite 8/10 recommend. Shrimp balls I'd not recommend. 2/10 Pork and mushroom potstickers 10/10 Dragon Ragoons 7/10 typical, well done but you can get at every Chinese Restaurant . Duck Lo Mein 10/10 The wine menu was pretty good and I did see some of your normal Bourbons on the shelf. I chose to celebrate my birthday locally and was excited to try Teddy Wongs because my community was showing up and giving high praise. The service and food were everything I needed it to be. Charlemagne and Liz were amazing. They offered suggestions and were super knowledgeable of the entire menu. If Liz hadn't told us she was new we never would have known. She adorable. Please ask for Charlemagne a TW vet who will make you laugh the entire visit. Absolutely must try the green beans and the dumplings. The orange chicken and scallion pancakes were so crispy and delicious. Looking forward to a visit soon to try the Texas Mongolian beef. I love the family style concept with the menu. We came in for lunch and we can understand why all the tables quickly filled. The ambiance is nice though a little bit dark. The service was excellent. We ordered the Mongolian beef. It's big enough to share, just order 2 sides of rice with it. It came out hot and the spice was perfect at a 3. We also had the egg rolls and the pork soup dumplings. We tried a side of fried rice and it was so good. We finished with the chocolate dumplings. Definitely not disappointed in anything. Come, you will love it! We enjoyed our visit to Teddy Wongs in Weatherford TX. The restaurant was amazing full for a Monday. Very popular local place. The staff were great. We were greated with a smile and seated quickly (we had a reservation). Our server was very pleasant, always with a smile, and when asked provided recommendations from the menu. Our appetizer came out in a reasonable time, as did our meals. Ambiance is clean, well lit and pleasing, though it was a bit loud for me. The food was good. We had the Chicken, Celery & Carrot dumplings for appetizers, really enjoyed them. I had the General Tso Chicken. Chicken was tender and the dish looked awesome. Though advertised as spicy, and evidence of crushed red pepper and dried Thai chili peppers, it wasn't that spicy hot. I still enjoyed the dish. My wife had the Orange chicken. She didn't care for it, but I thought it had a nice Orange flavor, but as with my dish, wasn't that spicy despite being advertised as such. I was surprised that rice was considered a-la-care, and listed as a side dish at $3.00 for a scoop. Excited to visit bc we love the FTW location. Weatherford isn't hitting the mark just yet. Serve was friendly, food was relatively quick but delivered to the wrong table twice, decor cool. Seating/table locations (at least to the left of the door) are less than ideal. Our table of four was put so close to the hostess stand my chair was on their mat and the phone was ringing in my ear. A table of 6 was smashed behind in the corner. Food: The soup dumplings, egg rolls, and kungpow beef were delish! Cucumber salad was interesting. We also ordered chicken fried rice and shrimp fried rice. Do not recommend getting either. Bland and very lacking in flavor. So happy to have something close, just hoping they keep tweaking things for the better. Will revisit in a few months to see if things go better and update review. read more

Fabulous food once again! We enjoyed a variety of dim sum with a light rose. Loved how the cow hides were incorporated with the Asian decor. Being in an area surrounded by ranch land it was perfect. Our waitress Liz was so sweet and was so nice during our very long lunch date. read more

We are so excited to have a Teddy Wong's closer to us! We were waiting at the door when they opened at 11 on Sunday and got right in - I think 30 minutes later there was a short wait. I had to have the hot oil wontons and they didn't disappoint. We also got the pickled veggies and they were a great accompaniment to all of the other rich foods. Pork fried rice is a dish we've tried to duplicate at home but this one is perfect with the crispy bits of pork, lots of egg and balanced flavors. The General Tso's was a great version but by the time it came out I was already stuffed. I love the way the food comes out in waves - it is always fresh and hot when it arrives and it's fun to see what will be the next item out. I recommend going with a few people and trying out as many dishes as you can. Great service from beginning to end and the decor is fun without being too much. So after reading reviews and hearing so many people rave about the place we decided to try it out. Mistake. We ordered fried rice with chicken and it was literally fried rice with a few pieces of boiled chicken on top. The sauce on the Sesame Chicken was good but that was it for that. Out of all three dishes we got the Chicken Lo Mein was the tastiest. Don't like the fact you can't order a side of fried rice for your Entree you have to order an Entree of fried rice for $15! Service was great, they explained everything to us and was patient with us. As far as ambience is concerned, we went tonight (7pm Friday reservation) and it was pretty packed. A few less people and it would be a lot better. Honestly for the price I'd rather go down the street to Little Panda and grab take out from there. read more

I was not impressed with any of it ,you can't order a regular order for one person it's has to be for a group so I wanted beef and broccoli so 3 other people to to get it too,we ordered fried rice it came out after we finished our beef and broccoli. I have been to a lot of Chinese food all over the country but have never been to a place like this I will never go back . They don't have regular Chinese food I normally get shrimp chow main and wonton soup no such food there .very disappointed so sad read more

The food came out in a timely manner with main dishes being adequate portions! The food was 7/10 generously; ordered dumplings, crab rangoon, shrimp lo mien, and beef & broccoli. Decided to try this new place today in Weatherford and left without ever being seated. It was 4:00 in the afternoon and the restaurant had maybe 3 tables occupied. We did not have reservations, didn't know they were required!! Especially at 4:00pm !! REALLY ?? We were offered to set at the bar but declined especially since basically every table was open. Not sure with this approach to customers this place will survive in Weatherford.
