I'll start with the positives because the food itself was actually good. We ordered a 16-piece sashimi assortment with four different types of fish, as well as a sashimi rice bowl. The fish tasted fresh, clean, and good quality. This definitely did not feel like cheap or low-grade sashimi. The prices are more on the mid-to-higher side, but based on the seafood quality, I thought the food itself was respectable. Another thing I genuinely appreciated was the Suntory The Premium Malt's on draft. Having previously worked in the Japanese food industry, this is something I always notice. Not many Japanese restaurants around here carry it on draft, and Suntory is particularly known for its fine, creamy foam. The traditional serving style is roughly 70% beer and 30% foam. For anyone who enjoys Japanese draft beer and a properly foamy pour, this is definitely one of the highlights here. Unfortunately, the service was a very different story. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy and we were asked to put our name on the waiting list, which was completely understandable. After we signed in, an Asian woman with long light brown/blonde hair reaching about chest length, who appeared to be a manager or senior staff member, spoke to us in a very unfriendly manner and told us that since we had already put our name down, we should wait outside and not block people from coming in and out. I completely understand the need to keep an entrance clear, especially when the restaurant is busy. My issue was not with the request itself, but with the way it was communicated. At one point, we actually had to get up and look for a staff member ourselves. I understand that restaurants get busy and everyone can have an off day. I also travel frequently for work and eat at many restaurants, so I do not give a one-star review lightly. But when several service issues happen during the same meal, it becomes difficult to overlook. The sashimi was fresh, the food quality was good, and I would especially recommend the Premium Malt's draft to beer lovers. Unfortunately, the hospitality and overall service made this the most disappointing restaurant experience of my week in LA. I have had a better experience here in the past, so hopefully this was simply an off day. Based on this visit, though, I probably would not return anytime soon.

Been here several times good burger big size patty but today I went since I hadn't been there for a while. Ordered the ABC burger amongst three other different orders. Got home opened it up and my suspicion of when I left store of burger not looking same as before was confirmed. Everything else was same but what made it look big was the lettuce pack but that big size patty was now a normal size at home type patty tasted the lettuce but meat taste was at the end of corner meat. Sad cause I enjoyed their burgers, had urge for burger for awhile now hoped to satisfy it here but no go. This place is easily overlooked, but it is so much better than all the corporate places. I usually order the salmon plate. The dressing for the side salad is amazing, perhaps my favorite salad dressing. They make it from scratch according to the nice cashier. I know they don't sell anything like it in a store. We go here because the food is okay for the price, and they take CalFresh, but honestly the owner is a bit sketchy. We use our CalFresh card and he charges us tax every time. We even told him we could get in trouble with the County because the restaurants are not supposed to charge us tax, but he doesn't care. He's the only restaurant that does this, I hope that CalFresh catches on to what he's doing to take more money from the County, which is completely wrong! read more

I always go to Teddy's after my practices or if I do not know what I want to eat. Their menu is just outrageous. A place that sells burgers, teriyaki, and fries is very hard to come by now and days. I got the Ninza Fries last night and loved them. Everything they sell at Teddy's is very cheap and it comes in great quantity. Hidden gem in the neighborhood. Sushi is always fresh and specialty fries are the best. Burgers are good, but they are little too big for me to eat. My favorite is yaki udon and it really is the best yaki udon in town. They recently added a lot of sushi roll menu, but I haven't had a chance to try them yet. Most of the crowd are locals which results in people sometimes running into each other by chance. Food & Drinks: The food here is amazing and this shop is definitely deserving of more hype. I highly recommend checking out this spot -- they're definitely deserving of more customers. I got the chicken platter, and you can have the option of getting the chicken with the skin on. Tha platter comes with the grilled chicken, a bed of rice under it, salad, sauce, a fried dumpling, and a fried spring roll. All of it is nicely cooked/prepared. I'd recommend getting it with tapatio and mixing it with once container's worth of their teriyaki sauce (usually comes with three, but one teriyaki sauce container is enough; both are free). For ~$2 more, you can get some pickled carrots and pickled jalapeños that are both great. Work-Friendliness: There are no outlets/wifi/quiet areas for you to do remote work at. This spot is purely just a restaurant, so I wouldn't recommend doing work here. I'd recommend the nearby Tai Tea x The V boba shop instead. Getting There: There's a bus stop close to it that's a 4-minute walk away. If you're driving, they do have a parking lot that you can access either via W Lincoln Ave or an alleyway on the east side of S West St. The parking lot gets somewhat busy, but there's an abundance of parking spots available for customers to park at. If parking runs out, you can try parking down S West St. Service: Really great and straightforward service from the staff! They're nice, straightforward, casual, and friendly all at once. The tortillas are a different color, which threw me off at first, but once you try them, they're actually really good and flavorful. My only real complaint is the hot sauce. They only offer a green sauce, and it's not very spicy or memorable. If they improved their salsa options--especially adding something with more heat--this place could easily be a 5-star spot for me.

Most of us got potato tacos (they had a special of 2 tacos with a drink for $10) and they were hefty! The only other order was fried zucchini, breaded mushrooms and a BLTA. I got to try the fried stuff and it was pretty good, not greasy at all. The tacos were really good too! I would recommend asking for salsa if you get any tacos or burritos, we did not get any for ours. Sad face. The place itself looks a bit broken down but I would give it a try.

If you have an appetite and want to try a new sushi spot out I recommend stepping in through those doors. I have a feeling you'll find something you'll like. Review: When you first enter you will hear the hostess / waitress say, "irasshaimase!" As you walk through two sectional partitions with a lot of drawn sketches and pictures. You're then shown your seat, I was sitting in the corner to the right that seats four. The atmosphere and vibe is a dimly lit room with a single light fixture above each table. There are mirrors all around. Upon seating you will see laminated menus held together by rings and another laminated order menu that you can use a dry erase marker on. I ordered: 1. Iced Green Tea 2. Tuna Lover 3. Truffle Salmon 4. Sashimi Salad 5. Salmon belly sushi (2x) 6. Yellowtail belly sushi (2x) 7. Mackerel sushi (2x) 8. Smelt egg (2x) 9. Salmon egg (2x) 10. Karaage Appetizer 11. Potato Shrimp Appetizer Overall, the fish was good or par with most sushi restaurants in the area. Sushi Dake has finessed their presentation so that the items look appetizing. Their nigiri sushi is on the more average side. If you go here I'd recommend sticking to the more sashimi dishes or rolls. The karaage appetizer is well seasoned and juicy. Some bites were borderline a bit more salty but combined with the given sauce, the bites were well defined. I'd say it would taste what you'd expect a karaage chicken to taste like. The potato shrimp had a lighter batter and seasoned perfectly to my tastes. I enjoyed the potato and shrimp combination. Out of the two, this was my favorite to try. The Chef's picks if I recall were the Tuna Lover - it's a piece of tuna that wraps around minced tuna and microgreens. A sliced jalapeno is placed on top. There's a citrusy sauce poured on top (Ponzu?) that adds a unique profile to the fish. The Truffle Salmon has a quartered or thinly sliced cherry tomato on top with a little bit of truffle. This sashimi piece is also sauced in a truffle oil. The sashimi pieces are placed over a thinly sliced lemon for an added citrus profile. You can taste the combination of ingredients if you eat the whole thing with the sliced lemon. The taste is more prominent without the sliced lemon. Out of the Tuna Lover and Truffle Salmon, the Tuna Lover was my favorite to try. The sashimi salad had a nice dressing to it with assorted fish. This dish is probably my favorite out of all the items. The salad itself was fresh and crisp to eat. There are sliced avocados in the dish as well. A bite combined with all the ingredients tastes great. The nigiri sushi was average in taste. The fish used on top was good but the rice could have been better seasoned with vinegar. My guess is that the rice wasn't soaked in rice vinegar properly as it seemed more dry than I am used to. Overall, it is passable but you probably didn't come for basic nigiri pieces. I will definitely come back to try other items.
