I'm giving Athena Burger 4 stars. The food here is really good, and the customer service is always great--staff is friendly and welcoming every time I visit. The place itself does feel a bit older, but honestly that doesn't take away from the experience. Not everything has to be brand new, and it's clear they focus more on the food and service, which they do well. I've tried a few items, and the burritos are amazing. The tortillas are a different color, which threw me off at first, but once you try them, they're actually really good and flavorful. My only real complaint is the hot sauce. They only offer a green sauce, and it's not very spicy or memorable. If they improved their salsa options--especially adding something with more heat--this place could easily be a 5-star spot for me. read more

I called ahead since I was ordering for a work lunch. The lady on the phone was polite and got everything we ordered, which was a lot you guys. When we got to the restaurant, everything was ready and she let us pay in separate transactions too. Most of us got potato tacos (they had a special of 2 tacos with a drink for $10) and they were hefty! The only other order was fried zucchini, breaded mushrooms and a BLTA. I got to try the fried stuff and it was pretty good, not greasy at all. The tacos were really good too! Drove by one evening and saw the sign for OC Beat Breakfast burrito which sparked my curiousity. Next day since i had to get an oil change decided to give it a try and it was on point. I had the the sausage as my protein but it included eggs, potatoes with thr right mix so I didn't feel like I paid for 1 or the other. It wasnt greasy and I left satisfied with a nice size portion. The staff was great and service was fast, even with people streaming in to pick up to go orders. The place is dated in a strip mall thats in need of a make over but doesn't discount the burrito taste vs others I've has which were greasy or or short on ingredients. Thee best fried mushrooms I have ever had! The ranch was very flavorful and was a perfect combination with the fried mushrooms! I tried a breakfast burrito and it was very tasty too, I got the green bell peppers, onions, mushroom, and ham, also added bacon and sausage to it too. Who doesn't love breakfast burritos? A friend of a friend recommended this place so I had to try it out. I arrived this morning around 9:45 AM and there was a line out the door. I honestly don't mind waiting if you're going to advertise your joint for having the best breakfast burrito in Orange County. Had the Suicide Breakfast Burrito and I was left unimpressed. First off, the ratio of egg/potatoes to meat was absurd. The whole burrito was so mushy from the overload of potatoes. The green salsa was very runny and flavorless. For just under $13, it was one of the worst breakfast burritos I've ever had. Long line but it goes by pretty fast. We dined here on Sunday 1/11 and ordered breakfast burritos. The burritos are fantastic and this is why I am not giving this establishment a 1 star. Now, the reason for my poor review is how the staff responded to my concern of the jalepeno and carrot condiments having a white sticky residue on them. I sniffed and even bit into a few bites just to make sure it was okay to eat. However, it was not. Clearly spoiled and rotten and so I brought my concern up to the employees and asked to a replacement. The person in the front counter said "they're all the same" and did not seem bothered at all. This is a bit concerning because if 3 of the 5 bags of jalepenos had this sticky residue implying spoilage - I would be very concerned of the remaining stock at hand. She was rude about it so I will be calling again in the evening to see if I'm able to place order and I will keep my receipt so prove to her it happens. So this is a small little DIY burger spot that also serves Mexican food and breakfast like it really has everything one could want to munch on! So coming here with my friend ment that all the employees already knew him as he's totally a regular here so I got that extra warm welcome upon arrival for that reason alone! On this given day I didn't want Mexican food it was all about those delicious Cali burgers that you can't find anywhere else like they have just this taste to them that just hit the spot like sure there are a ton of places that make burgers but there's just something special about small diy places like this as they do it right in just soo many ways! My bacon cheeseburger was delicious it was perfectly cooked it had the flavor I was totally looking for and just hit the spot on soo many levels! With my burger I totally went with the fried zucchini something else that I've had trouble finding outside of Cali, while these were just your standard ones they were totally delicious served super hot with ranch and were just delicious with every bite! Outside they have a banner claiming they have one of the best breakfast burritos. So we decided to give it a try. We ordered 2 suicide burritos which has a little bit of everything with bacon, sausage, and ham. We also ordered chili cheese fries with pastrami. The prices are fair for how much you get. The breakfast burrito is meaty and has ample filling that you won't be disappointed. Here's where it starts to slip in ratings for me. We ordered to-go and their packing was sloppy. When we were ordering they weren't the friendliest that we felt rushed or they had no patience to answer our questions about the breakfast burrito. The box of chili cheese fries and pastrami had chili spilled all over the outside. Inside the plastic bag basically had spilled food. The chili cheese fries with pastrami had soggy undercooked fries with chili that tasted like spaghetti sauce with how sweet it was The worst for me was when I found hair in my breakfast burrito. It was short and wavy. Definitely not my hair. After I saw the hair in my food. Unfortunately I loss my appetite and threw away my burrito. read more

I don't know why Yelp is guilt tripping me to write a good review because of COVID. Last I checked, COVID doesn't affect a person's ability to season food. Tried the breakfast burrito as it's advertised as "Voted best breakfast burrito in OC". It wasn't bad but if it's considered the besy, then I feel kind of bad for OC. Pros: burrito was served scorching hot so it was FRESH. Cashier was friendly, and brought our food to the table which I thought was considerate. Cons: Price, bland food Paid $26 for 2 burritos and a drink and I just don't think it's worth it. If you're in the immediate area, this might not be a bad spot for some lunch. I drove around 20 or so minutes just to try the burrito and it wasn't the biggest letdown of my life but it just wasn't all that great either. Would have preferred everything to be a little more seasoned. Nothing was terrible, just very bland. If I were to come here again, (which is unlikely), I would add pico de gallo to the burrito. read more

They have a sign hanging up bragging about theirs, so I had to try it. If I didn't add the sour cream, or use the provided salsa, this would have been one of the most bland breakfast burritos ever. Sure, the base ingredients are mostly the same place to place, but there was literally nothing special about this. Everything on this menu is good, however, they do have some items that are more Caucasian friendly than others. I've seen some people saying certain things are flavorless, that's on purpose. My favorite thing here is the chilaquiles with green sauce, they're amazing! But pretty much everything that you order is great, unless you are like "wow, this looks like a very Caucasian food" then you will get a very Caucasian tasting food. Meaning bland. There are a lot of older WASPs in the area that don't like flavor, so you do need to order selectively as they do cater to their clientele. The service is always amazing, the waitresses are so sweet! If anyone is complaining about them, very likely they were also bad to them. I've seen a lot of people treat the staff here like crap, I guess because it's kind of a cheap place. But either way, there's no reason to treat people badly. The staff has also been the same for over a decade, I've been coming here since I was a kid. So it's not like it's a new person, they are the same people who are a really solid team and will treat you really well IF YOU TREAT THEM WELL. To be honest the burrito does its job but it's nothing special. It definitely needs salsa or something because the burrito on its own is a bit bland. Not sure if they had any but we weren't offered any. Suicide Burrito: the sausage and bacon was good. Comparable to other 3 meat burritos. Not life changing but it's a good burrito! 8/10 No meat burrito: a bit expensive at 10.25 for the most basic burrito but it was okay. Had to try this place because of the huge "O.C. Voted #1 Best Breakfast Burrito" sign. We just ordered the bacon breakfast burrito, which was $11 plus tax. It wasn't the best, but it was still very good overall. The potato was surprisingly a major factor that made the burrito amazing. It had a very soft and smooth texture rather than maybe having a dry and powdery texture. One of the downsides is the size of the burrito for the price. I've had bigger breakfast burritos from other places that tasted equally as good as this one, but it costs less than this place, and other places might not charge extra for ranch while the small ranch is 75 cents here. Another downside was the portion of the ingredients. The bacon breakfast burrito had a lot of potato and bacon and an appropriate amount of cheese, but it had very little egg.
